I was messing today with how to root my phone and something went wrong. Now when I turn on my phone its pitch black, the only thing that I see is the the battery and signal strength at the top of the screen...Everything else is blacked out. Nothing is working. I assume that I did something and I need to reinstall my Android system. Any help?

Anyone else happen to have this problem? If the phone is on standby, black screen, for an hour or so, it will not come out of standby. You can tell it is running, it has its green light flashing every now and then. If you click any of the buttons, nothing makes it comes back on. I have to take the battery out for it to start working again. Any ideas?
I'd try flashing the ROM first...then return it if this continues...with a phone that new you shouldn't have to worry about bull**** problems like that

Try to removed your recently installed unstable applications, that may help.Or you can do a hard reset.
Good luck!
Hello everyone. Im having this really odd issue where the phone wont power off. I press and hold the power button down, and choose "POWER OFF" and it does the animation of powering off, then it goes dark....then in about 2-3 seconds it powers back on. Now i do have Fast Boot unchecked. Im also rooted and running the Dev edition of the HTC One. If i boot into recovery and choose the option to shutdown, it still reboots on its own. Very odd. Anyone care to help me out? Thanks
seems like cache error. try to clear cache in recovery.. if nothing happens .. clear data .. . yup then you will lose all data. but u will get into system atleast

Strange. Good luck. Does reverting back to stock mean you are running the RUU?

Yea. But im having a bit of an issue even with that. I consider myself a seasoned vet at this kind of stuff, but seem to be having a hard time with it. I tried to flash the RUU and it failed about 25% thru it, and now im at an HTC logo with exclamation signs on each corner. Kind of at a loss...but ill keep in screwing with it.
ok, so i reverted back to stock using the RUU and it STILL DOESNT TURN OFF!! I dont know what to do anymore. Faulty hardware? Kind of weird when everything else works fine.

Nothng else you can do on your end. You've done it all. Tell them you installed the ruu and that didnt work. If its from a carrier, ATT, t-mobile.. Just take it to a corporate store, they should replace it. If its a Dev edition, gotta send it in. For me it wouldnt be much of an issue because i never turn my phones off.. But if you do turn them off, this is a major issue lol. They should replace it no problem.

Yea it is a developer edition phone. Ive done evrerything i can think of and i think i may need to send it in. What sucks is that i have already added my zagg on the back and added an SGP screen protector and i would hate to waste them. I also normally dont turn my phone off (if ever) but i dont want to end up with more hardware issues down the line. Im contemplating sending it back to HTC and ordering the Google edition when that is available..but im kind of happy with it as is. I have HTC on the phone now...lets see what they say. At this point im kind of curious as to why its doing this.
i was messing around trying to figure something out and restarted in safe mode so i rebooted and now a folder i had in the dock and all my folders in my drawer are gone...apps freaking everywhere, lol. not a HUGE deal but i'm sure you understand
am i stuck having to do them all over now or is there something to be done here?
thanks for any help.

Yup, reorder. Or restore from backup.
oh yea, apparently my contacts are gone too. terrible, guess i'll have to restore then, ugh.
thanks.
oh and i just thought... why does that happen?
you must have pressed the home, back or volume buttons while booting, that enables safe mode
Hi there!
I was wondering if anyone around here had some ideas on what to do.
My LG G4 had been working fine until today. I unlocked the screen to check my e-mail and it completely froze. It was plugged in at the time, so I unplugged it to see if I could restart it. The charging light was still blinking, the power button didn't respond, absolutely nothing.
I took the battery out, left it for a minute or so and rebooted. It loaded, unlocked, but I could only get to the app menu before it completely froze again. Afterwards, screen went black.
On the third try, it booted up to the LG logo and that's it. It popped up about 3 times and screen went black. No other response whatsoever. I can only try to reboot again only after taking out the battery, but it does the same thing.
I switched the battery with another one of the same model, nothing changed. Computer doesn't recognize it either.
I've looked around for a bit and I can't find anything like my case. The closest thing described is the boot loop. I'm not exactly sure that's my case, but it seems similar to a certain degree.
I got it to boot to recovery mode, but it doesn't do anything. It asks me if I'm sure I want to run it, and in the second 'yes' it freezes up completely again. Screen goes black and does absolutely nothing else.
Added note, phone upgraded to 6.0 yesterday morning. I had no issues with it until now. No app updates were running at freezing time.
I'm considering taking it to the store before I try anything myself, just in case there is still some warranty active.... But any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was afraid so... Went directly to the T-Mobile store where I bought it and, since the warranty was still active, they exchanged it on the spot.
I just hope this one lasts longer than the other one did...
Thanks!

That is an excellent question...
Btw, does your screen freeze up sometimes? 'Cause mine sometimes goes unresponsive right after I unlock it... I just lock and unlock it again and keeps working just fine, but it's kind of annoying... old one did it and it, now this one does it sometimes too...

Good to know it's not just me then. Guess it's a common screen glitch then.
Thank you for the info!
Well another 505 g4 bites the dust. Playing a game, backed out of it, phone froze, pulled battery, turned on to endless bootloop, pulled battery again, now nothing and I mean nothing, no boot loop, no nothing
Definitely a brick. Computer doesn't recognize or even try to charge it. Hopefully still under warranty.

Hi, recently I've followed the guide here to root my tab s2 8" with android 6. All went well, if it wasn't for this little problem. I can't actually say if it showed up after or before the root, but I'm starting to think it's not something software.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to solve?

That's not my point, I activated those option to show that there a v3rticwl band where the touchscreen won't work properly
The right side (vertical area), aye?!
Well, the last thing you did was *root*.. thus I'd presume something wrong with the software.

update
i've tried everythink i could think of. First just formatted data from recovery, nothing happened (it still does it in the recovery itself)
then i've installed the stock nougat rom, nothing again, not even in recovery...
but i've noticed that each time i reboot the tablet the problem goes away and comes back progressively, at first is just a little jump from left to right and it keep getting worst and worst untill it grows to its normal width.
i really think that the problem is something physical about the tablet.
now the question is about how i can prepare the tablet before sending it in to get fixed.
What can i do?
just to point it out, the tablet never had an accident, alway in the cover, i does not present a single scratch or dent!
suggestions?
I'd say, it is time to consult a technician. Someone like Rossmann,

Good luck.

Use the factory code to enter the touch options and ensure the firmware versions match for the touch driver. If not tap the general update button.
