Wow that giant copy paste is ummmm....
Anyway, if you care about heat and power at all, go Intel.
Bulldozer especially uses a lot of power.
My Phenom II is ok as far as heat and power go, but Intel CPUs run A LOT cooler.

So thats 624 mhz processor, 128 ram, 256 rom
16gb flash onboard [this is the new athena]
tactile feedback keyboard

Shift
The Shift, but with Vista Ultimante, and 160gb hard, - but HTC would have to make it so you can use it like a regular phone.............................
Other wise, the Tilt/TnTY II has done an awesome job, the only complain is i need some ability to do my graphics/audio editing "on the fly". The photos i do edit with two programs from the Tilt, but yet to find a good audio editer of that..... (use Adusity on the desktop at home......)
my dream phone is the iphone with 3g even without the 3g i love it way more than mytilt it does everything it said it would and more plus i can still install apps but i dont really need to too much why because most of the stuff i was installing on the tilt couldve been done on the iphone ie s2p s2u opea mini htc photo album big on screen keyboard its already their on the iphone plus the battery life way better than the tilts even when i would just leave it on edge

I would be extremely happy with an iPhone with a WM6 emulator.
Although my perfect device would probably be an iPhone with WM6 emulator and the following hardware changes:
1. Removable battery.
2. Slightly shorter.
3. Lighter, less metal, more composites (less than 100g total weight).
4. Thinner, if possible, as thin as the iPod Touch.
5. MicroSD slot.
6. Standard Mini USB connector.
7. Built-in GPS.
8. 3G
I want that one ^^^
My dream phone would have similar but a little more than the specs shown above:
TouchScreen
3.5-4 screen
10gb+
600+mhz
256RAM/512ROM
2 MicroSDHC card slot
Fastest and Best GPS Signal
5-10mp with Flash camara and Even an option for Night Vision Mode
Ability to have 2 SIM Card (and yes its already done)
WiFi able to act as an Access Point with the new Wireless-N capabilities
both 3g & 4g (coming soon somewhere in 2009-2011)
Advance 3D-Acceleration Chipset with Drivers if needed
A/V Output for Video and Images
And all that in under $400 but its only a dream in the year 2008
My perfect Pocket PC would be:
3 inch full VGA touch screen with multi touch support.
Universal-like clamshell design
at least 8GB of built in memory
at least 528mhz dual core
VGA out and full USB 2.0 support (like the Athena)
3.5mm headphone jack
Good tactile keyboard.
Built in GPS
5mp auto focus camera with xenon flash
High resolution video suppor

Actually, if they'll ever manage to really do it, they should just simply call it "The Tytn". Can't get any bigger than that... (as opposed to the "Tytn"... got the pun...? lol...)
meizu m8 sounds like a dream phone...
if they manage to finish it...
You guys dream small.
Since it's a "dream" phone I would go with the iPhone route with some not so small changes:
3Ghz quadcore inlel or amd proc.
2gb DDR3 ram @ 2000mhz
250 SSD + SD micro
Nvidia GPU that is actually a mobile desktop replacment of the 8800GT*/9800GT* (G92 series) w/512mb GDDR3 dedicated (for outputting higher res to monitor) upgradable through mini port (like the SD micro slot but for GPU's insted of memory)
HDMI out
Multitouch
WiFi a/b/g/n
FTA HD antenna
Vindows Vista compatible but allows for XP installation.
X-Fi sound 24-bit, 96KHz record and playback with full 5.1 surround through Optical S/PDIF
USB and 3.5mm sterio jack
1280x720 5" oled display. (over kill I know)
IR for remote control
Thumb print reader for security
Total control voice recognition
anti reflective screen
500nit brightness
10mp camera with flash and full motion HD recording @ 60fps
Blue Tooth
GPS
1/3 in thick and 100g
And the kicker...
Free with 3yr contract with respected service provider.
It will never happen for another 10-15 yrs or so(maybe never) but if your gonna dream you might as well dream big.
Cheers.
Really Dreaming.

To really replace my phone, Gaming PC, Laptop, PDA, Mediagate, PVR, Still and Video Camerra, SatNav, ipod, PSP, xbox, DVD player, universal remote control, pay tv box, we would need just a few additional items to what you suggested, but not many.
A big amount of storage say 800Gb
For the unit to be able to act as a remote control, but also be remote controlled.
A series of docking stations for Office, Car, Lounge, Bedroom, Games room, I would imagine the device would have enough battery power to stay on if you ran from one station to the next. These docking stations could also have TV antena/Satelite/cable inputs for the on board tuner, and bulky items like a DVD player/burner, Keyboards, mouse, also outputs for the TV/Monitor, surround sound etc. Although all of these items could be connected directly as well if you got caught without the station.
Of course it would come with a series of accessories, like wifi gaming handsets, wifi mouse/keyboard, wifi/bluetooth stereo headset, 3D goggles.
If only it could make a cup of coffee, Now that is dreaming...

Hello
Yesterday I installed in my HTC Shift Photofast a G-Monster 1.8 "ZIF V2 128GB. SSD has been detected. During the installation Win7, actually almost the end, there was a error message: disk were not available etc. Rebooted. In the Bios was detected something. Just stood HDD1, no information, no producers, etc. Off. Cable tested for SSD. Still some time out and clean again. In the BIOS again without HDD1 info. Old HDD installed. The same HDD1: no info. Line from the Shift and expanded in an external HDD enclosure installed and tested on a different computer. HDD is detected. SSD is not recognized. Then again installed in the Lapi. Now the field is left blank. Do not stand HDD1 times. Whether by SSD or HDD. USB stick and USB CD Rom drive detected in bios and also work.
I have tried to withdraw BIOS battery overnight. without success
Now is the Shift out or even something you can test / check?
Greeting
Paul
P.S.: sorry for my bad english

Make sure the circular ribbon cable did not tear. This may be your problem. This is the only thing I can think of. I had all sorts of problems when I installed my SSD. But after going in a few times and actuallysecuring the ribbon cable properly to my drive, I was able to get it recognized and able to install Windows, although, mine is the Kingspec 128GB SSD.
I hope this helps, just make sure that the cable is inserted properly, all the way in, and it is secured.
Thanks!
PS
Did you see there is 2GB of RAM available to the SHIFT? It is offered by Mem-Store on Ebay. Please check the Shift's RAM thread for more details. I have bought and installed the module myself. I left them excellent feedback, my username being guyyyy!
Take care!
Hello
I tested it again. Connector is faulty. The defective point can not find. With a standard 40 pin ZIF connector it works. I ask for Connector at HTC. But I do not have much hope.
Photofast SSD I sold on Ebay. Can you recommend a good (possible cheap) SSD? 64GB is enough.
Paul
P.S.: 2GB of RAM I have already seen. I will definitely buy

The only experience I have are with the Kingspec. I had a friend install a Kingspec in his as well. I am not sure if they offer in a lower capacity though. Check ebay. Just type HTC SHIFT and sort by price, highest to lowest.
Go all the way to the lower priced items. This way you can either find the cable you need, OR a cheaper SSD. I hope you find what you are looking for.
This is the best advice I can give, as this is older hardware.
Take care and all the best.

That sounds right, because reading this forum the Heigth of the SSD needs to be no more than 5mm. This is where you need to be the most aware. Many standard drives that come in the 1.8 form factor have heigths of 8-9mm and those will cause you to have problems closing the shift (If I read correctly throughout this forum) So you need to make sure the heigth so these you listed look good.
I am not familiar with Runcore brand, but I wasn't with King Spec either, and it is working Exceptionally.
Take care and I hope this helps.
Research In Motion (RIM) has announced a new product to compete with tablets like Apple’s iPad, and tons of other Android based tablets with their very own PlayBook, the BlackBerry Tablet.
Before introducing the specifications, I wanna raise some questions about PlayBook. They are following-
1. Will it run on 3G network in Canada as well as in USA?
2. Will it use Micro SIM card or Normal SIM card? If it doesn't take SIM card, then what'll be the medium to connect network??? CDMA chip?
3. Is it compatible with multi-tasking?
4. Will it support almost all type of audio and video format?
5. What will be the warranty duration from BlackBerry?
6. Is this good for professionals? or for college and school student?
7. How about the price?
8. It'll be given at a discounted price with 2 year or 3 year contract?
10. Is it unlockable like BlackBerry cell phone?
11. Will it work on CDMA network e.g. Verizon and GSM/3G network e.g. AT&T simultaneously?
12. Will it use MS office package?
13. What about BBM?
14. What will be the 3G/4G frequency? Dual band or quad band?
15. Is there any possibility to run android apps?
16. Will it connect with BES?
Full list of specifications are as follows:
1. 7-inch LCD, 1024 x 600, WSVGA, capacitive touch screen with full multi-touch and gesture support
2. BlackBerry Tablet OS with support for symmetric multiprocessing
3. 1 GHz dual-core processor
4. 1 GB RAM
5. Dual HD cameras (3 MP front facing, 5 MP rear facing), supports 1080p HD video recording
6. Video playback: 1080p HD Video, H.264, MPEG, DivX, WMV
7. Audio playback: MP3, AAC, WMA
8. HDMI video output
9. Wi-Fi – 802.11 a/b/g/n
10. Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

accessing data is stupid slow and it doesn't make sense
phone unlocked with allow data transfer selected
oneplus charger to usb b port at front of case "equally as slow with usb c at back of motherboard" so I dont think the cable is the bottleneck
I feel like ive tried everything including enabling usb debugging (dont know why but I havent been into tech to the level of this amazing forum since I was young so forgive me if answer is obvious google was useless)
Thanks, D

to clarify transfer is what to be expected but the loading of thumbnails and data amount or size. once youve loaded all of them its fast.
but it takes a few minutes sometimes.
phones generally have good SSDS so does my computer processors on the phone is good, I cant find the bottleneck, does every device do this???
Windows need to read all your photo, every time you connect the phone. And if you have many photos... it could take some minutes ...
For example my Lenovo Legion y540 with i7 gen9 12mb cache, 16gb ram dual chanel, SSD Samsung 980 Pro 256gb for Windows & Samsung 870 Evo 2 Tb for storage. In my case it takes a few minutes. 2, 3 -5 minuntes. Yes is annoying !

If you use the stock Oneplus red cable between the phone and the desktop, it most likely is a 2.0 spec C-type cable (most likely, at least the one that came with my 9 Pro is). Go buy a 3.1 C-type cable (nowadays USB 3.2 Gen 2) or 3.2 C-type cable (nowadays USB 3.2 Gen 2x2)

That's annoying, I thought the point of a thumbnail was a low res picture for quick access. You'd think in 2022 we'd have a better way.

Ok so at 2.0 speeds 480 Mbps, suppose all pictures are 15 mb big and they're 1500 of them I'd take 48 seconds to see them all (high res no less)
(But they're not because you click on them and it takes an additional 7 ish seconds to load the image when opened. )
By this logic using a 3.0 cable (4800mbps) ( if ssd supports the speed) should only take about 5 seconds for all images
And it does not because I've used a c to c pixel cable to connect.
So they're must be a software bottleneck preventing a few things
The thumbnail should be small and in turn it should really take no longer than a couple seconds to load low res images ( unless these thumbnails don't exist on the phone and they have to be generated once the phone is plugged in)
It could also be a Windows issue (anyone have a mac that could try accessing their data through the file browser) just like the search feature in Windows takes ages and it's often so bad it can usually be faster finding the file manually it could be a matter of a broken or outdated protocol to read files off a device.
All I'm saying with all of these advertised speeds 5 minutes for 1000 5mb (yes not 15) and a couple big videos is too damn long. I'll be trying to see if there are any softwares out there that let you read of your device in a similar way itunes ( does itunes still exist??) does with apple devices

I have a usb3 10gbps cable and it still runs at slow speeds. I think that it's only USB 2.0 over type C
Maybe the 10 Pro has slower USB type C then, my 9 Pro is way faster with a 3.1 cable.
are using a usb 3 port on your computer?
i don't have any issues with transfer speeds.
I forgot to mention, my laptop have only usb 3.1 ports & 1 type C for charging.. & Windows 11 Pro x64.
Type C ports are produced in different versions, from 2.0 from 3.2.
Thumbnail are not the problem. I set my View with Details & select the newer first. Same amount of time. Still the green bar charge all hundreds of photos. Like i have a hdd from 20 years...
