Hey guys, since yesterday my milestone doesn't find any Wi-Fi network. Any ideas ?
PS: I tried with CM7 and CM9.

Did you drop it or something?
I've actually had this problem quite frequently with 2.3 based roms, most notably with the SteelDroid rom.
The only way I could ever get wifi re-enabled was to mess around with bringing it up and down. All I can suggest it to keep persisting with turning it off and on and you should get it back sooner or later, at least that's what my endeavors have shown.
I believe it's a wifi driver issue since the problem doesn't exist for me when I fall back to 2.2 based roms. If I run into the issue again, I'll post a logcat of for it and hopefully that will help someone who know's more about this to help you. If you could provide a logcat, that would be even better.
In 2.3-based roms I usually had to switch Wi-Fi several times to make it work, while in some Froyo-based roms I had to reboot (also on few 2.3 roms that use older kernel).

Ive tried with stock 2.3.6, CM7 and CM6 and although the CM roms improved wifi reception by leaps and bounds, my N1 will still not recognize some very necessary wifi SSIDs, namely the one at work. On my laptop, my old phone (Optimus T), and everyone elses smartphones there is no problem connecting at work. The access point is provided by a Fortiwifi 60c server. fortinet.com/products/fortiwifi/60C.html
Has anyone else had this problem or know the right direction for a solution? Wifi at work is a must!
it's not an adhoc network is it?
try moving closer to the source and see if other android phones can see it too
No, the network in question is not an ad-hoc. Yes, as I said in my original post, other smartphones and wireless devices have no problem making this connection.
I flashed and upgraded my phone's baseband radio to the most up-to-date version and my phone still doesn't see the network in question. I'm just about out of ideas.
Radio has nothing to do with WiFi.
Try different kernels.
Make sure that the visible access point isn't Wifi N.
Thanks for the experienced suggestion, thats just what I needed. Is there much risk involved in flashing kernels like there is with radios? Is the process the same, boot into recovery then install zip? Ill do the research myself here in a few hours when Ill have the free time but I'd like your input as well, Jack_R1, since it sounds to me like you know what you're talking about here. I'm hoping that you'll reply before I give this a try.
There is no risk when flashing kernels - in the worst case, if the flash went wrong, you can always boot to recovery and flash again.
The process is the same.
Kernel should be compatible with your type of ROM (AOSP GB/AOSP ICS/CM7/CM9/MIUI/etc).
Hi Everyone,
As title says, a few weeks ago I noticed that my wifi keeps dropping no matter what I do.. this being as i surf and not in sleep mode or anything like that.
How did it start?
when it happened this is what i did, went to GB rooted rom, flashed up to JB room paranoid android, all worked fine except i noticed wifi kept dropping, tried another jb rom ,same thing, tried ics kingdroid rom, same thing. So then I decided to go back to original official stuff GB, same thing.. wifi dropping, went to official ICS, still wifi keep dropping.
What I have done to try to fix it:
Tried different roms, networks, all settings in Wifi settings. Googled like 3 days straight, mostly this seems to be a galaxy s3 problem not a galaxy note problem. A few people said they solved it by giving it a static ip which wouldnt work for me as im on like 3 different networks, and by changing sleep settings to make sure it doesnt shut off during sleep mode, which i honeslty have no problem with. Someone solved it by switching rom, nothing i find applies to me..
So what do I do??
I would honestly appriciate any suggestion, this is a great community so I got high hopes Sorry if my question has been answered before but I dont belive so, i posted in noob thread any noone had suggestion so I hope I dont do anything wrong with this post.. cheers :victory:

What's your modem? Go to settings > about> baseband
thanks for the reply it's n7000xxlrk , it's it suppose to be that?

The operation of Wi-Fi is a core responsibility. Try changing the kernel. Modem is responsible for the connection to GSM. If you change the kernel does not help, you probably have a broken phone.

well i have weak wi fi signal.. Most of the modems don't work for me.. Ddlp4 is the one i use..and no the kernel has nothing to do with wifi signal strength
Check your router and see if WPA Wireless network encryption is set to AES, if it is, change it to TKIP., see if you can connect after.
Usually it's nothing to do with the ROM, modem, kernel, android or even the phone itself, it might be your router setting that needs a change.
Know it was long since I made this thread but I wanted to report result, it was as above poster said. Rouer settings, finally found compatible ones after sooo manny roms, modems and other fixes were attempted.

I am currently running Altonus2 V1.2 with Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-kfazz-g21797a7-dirty and first off I must tip my hat to the developers, it's mind blowing that they were able to make this work on the OG Droid.
My issues are: GPS doesn't\ work (no navigation, just "searching for satellites") and the internet crashes shortly after the browser opens. The phone runs slow but I imagine that is just a side effect from running JB on an older phone. Is there a way to get GPS and the internet working? I'm not new to flashing roms and the like but compared to the experience here I'm all but a noob to any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I believe GPS doesn't work because kfazz had to remove /system/lib/hw/gps.sholes.so because it was causing a bootloop for some people, in regard to Wifi several people have reported problems with it and getting it to connect at all or maintain a consistent connection has been very hit and miss. Keep in mind kfrazz himself said while a lot of progress has been made on the Jelly Bean ROM there are still many thing that don't work and will take a long to fix.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep watching his his progress then. Great work so far!
Hello everyone, since I got my cappy I've been delighted by it, it's an awesome phone, even more so when you get to root and update it, now here's the problem: my wifi keeps acting up. First it was the autenticating loop, now my cappy connects but doesn't send or receive any data. I know it's not my router since I have other wifi enabled devices and they can connect and use the wifi properly. Been trying changing from WPA to WPA 2 and auto, no luck. Been trying setting static IP, no luck. It just... sits there connected and not sending. He worked properly in stock, hence I tried going to stock, and then reflashing, no luck.
I used cyanogen and slim bean, with custom semaphore and cyancore, and different basebands (namely ugkg3, tubjv6, bvjjw2) I hope someone can help me on this since this is the only flaw I've encountered so far with this awesome phone.
Thank everyone in advance, and have a nice day.
EDIT: Forgot to add, when I freshly flash a ROM it works perfectly... Until some time passes (around 4 hrs) or until I attempt to download something higher than 20 mb+. Then the issues start.

Wifi drivers are coming from the kernel, therefor, I'd suggest other kernels. If that doesn't work, try another ROM (like AoCP). If the problem still persists, I'd suggest flashing stock KK4 and starting over.
Hey! Thank you for your suggestions, yeah I've been seeing some improvements using unofficial semaphore so I'm sticking to it right now.
God I love this phone. Haha. Thanks again.
so lately even when switching roms and even going back to stock rom the wifi has become flaky, working when it wants to sometimes not even finding a network when it is searching. any ideas on what might be the problem?

Your model is a d400, d400h or d400hn?. I have the same problem with the wifi
If going back to stock it is still the same after a factory reset (deletes all data, backup first) and with different routes then it's a hardware issue, no matter what model you have.
My sollution
My problem was an update and restore the last version lol
