Ok, so I've managed to gather a few good quality scratches on my screen, and I've got a replacement new digitizer ready to go, with the necessary pry tools, screwdrivers etc.
One question though. The new digitizer has a pre-applied adhesive. Do I need any double sided adhesive tape as well? Seen a reference to 1mm double sided adhesive on an Amazon ad, but not entirely convinced it's needed.

I can now answer my own question.
No, I didn't need the 1mm wide double sided adhesive. In fact, the whole process was remarkably easy. New digitizer is fitted, and fully functional. Very happy, my tab is beautiful again.

Congrats on a successful repair.
Care to share where you bought the new part off of?
Just so people, myself included, know where to look for the thing if they ever need it.
New digitizer was bought from ebay. Its a perfect replacement, brand new, but I suspect not official as I noticed the identification lettering on the ribbon cable is different. Could be OEM though.
The whole process was pretty simple. Used a tool like a heavy guitar pick to pry the back case off the chassis, with a suction cup to pull the chassis away from the back case. Check the teardown on techreplubic for more on that.
I used my wifes hair drier to soften the adhesive holding the digitizer on the chassis, then used the same guitar pick tool to break into the adhesive seal, and worked my way round slowly, before finally peeling the digitizer away.
Then just cleaned off any residual adhesive (there was barely any left, it all stayed on the old digitizer). Peeled the protective films off the back of the new digitizer, lined it up, and stuck it down.
Trickiest thing is making sure you're in a pretty dust free area so you don't get any specks on the LCD before sticking the new glass down. And be careful pulling up the brown retainer bar on the ribbon termination, you need to release that before disconnecting the ribbon cable, and then flick it back into place once the new ribbon cable termination is slotted in.

So one week into having my incredible, it drops on the sidewalk (2days before my rugged case came in) and the glass cracked/shattered. the lcd is still completely intact. I was looking at this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00424O7JK/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A3MB8KL7VKZGWY . And was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I have replaced other screens in other electronic devices, but was looking for any tips specific to the inc or any recommendations on a replacement glass.
I bought mine off ebay and swapped it out. My opinion is to spend the money and buy the whole front housing. Removing the broken glass from the front housing was a MAJOR pain. If you are insistant, make sure you have a good straight razor and flathead screw driver for removing the sticky residue. Head to the local hardware store and get some double-sided tape. If you look in the Epoxy area, i found some double sided rubber material, like what they use for sticking pamphlets together, only a lot stronger. If you dont get it sealed real well, be prepared for lint to get between the screen and LCD. That is the major problem i ahve on mine. Like i said, definitely worth the money to buy the full front housing.
Thanks for the advice. I saw on some videos what a pain it was to get the old glass and adhesive out, but the cheapest I could find the glass with housing already attached was $99 vs $28 for the glass. I wish I would've seen your post prior to ordering. Oh well, we shall see. Thanks also for the advice on the double sided tape. I was looking at it online, but didn't thing to look in just a local harware store for it. I think i'm going to try some medical adhesive remover for the old glue, the only problem is I'm going to have to be really careful around the four buttons on the bottom. It is nice to see that someone has done it successfully though.
You can get the glass and the bezel seperate, but make sure the bezel has adhesive on the entire surface or else you'll get dust in the screen... I fixed mine though and it looks great. Ill post pics later
Heya guys,
I recently bought a clarivue glass screen protector for my note 2. screwed up the lining up the first time, then when i tried to reapply it, i messed it up because there was too much dust underneath.
I thought to my self 'man, theres too much dust for a little piece of scotch tape to remove'
then i thought to myself 'what if i use two big fat pieces of scotch tape and tape the complete underside (the sticky side) of the screen protector to remove all the dust at once, and then peel off and reapply?'
guess what? it works. I used two of the widest scotch tape i could get, and taped the complete underside of the screen protector. then peeled it off as if it were the protective layer for the screen protector. got a perfect application after doing this, no dust underneath at all!!!
So, for all you guys who payed $20-50 for expensive screen protectors and dont want to throw them away, this will save you heartache and money.
OMG, I was literally just thinking about how to fix my screen protector mishap (dust underneath)! Thanks for the idea, probably try it out tomorrow.

Best way to remove dust is using a lint roller. Use it on your phone's screen prior to applying any screen protector. You can also remove dust from the sticky side of the protector

Thanks guys! It's so funny you mentioned this as I also bought a clarivue glass screen protector and have the same issue! The sticky side attracts so much dust even if you think you're in a dust free environment! I was thinking about washing mine but I think I will give this a go tonight as I have one screen bubble that's annoying me!
Also when you say scotch tape do you mean the brown parcel packing tape or the semi-transparent magic tape one?

i used the transparent one.
although if your tape is thick, theres a chance that there might be a line of dust where the tape overlaps. if you're worried about that, go to your local newsagent and buy a roll of contact (the stuff you use to laminate/cover books). that stuff costs 50c for about a square metre or so, and you can cut a piece that is big enough to cover your entire screen protector.
this stuff is magical!!!!!

Any chance you guys could post some pictures of the Clarivue glass on your note 2?
One I get mine cleaned up and bubble free I'll try and put a few up. Cheers.
Any technique of how to apply glass screen protector. My sp does not adhere at the edges.

A technique that I used on my previous phone was to apply the sp in the bath room with the shower running hot. Wait for the room to stream up then start to install the sp. You can wait till someone is using the shower like a girlfriend... Because it would be weird if you did it while your mom, dad, sister or brother was in the shower. :silly:

Ive known this technique since the first PSP came out(its not even necessary anymore nowadays). Im talking about the glass screen protector not sticking at the edges.

Its not going to stick all the way to the edges since the glass on the note 2 is beveled around the edge(has a slight downward curve) so the screen protector can't make contact
I like to break stuff!
Edited
I used the shower steam method last night and it helped a great deal! managed to get a perfect install and got rid of 99% of those pesky bubbles. Just waiting for it to adhere through the 48hours on the edges. Importantly I don't have any on the screen. Can't even tell there's a protector on with this. Also thumbs up for the tape idea. I used two large strips of brown parcel tape as was able to clean up my protector like new before reapplying!
Hehe, you're welcome. its a good screen protector, and for the price we payed, we shouldnt need to buy another one!

Damn right! The only thing that annoys me is trying to lift it up again to realign I think my nails are making the adhesive raise up so I need to push it down otherwise the edge won't sit properly.
I totally just did this and it worked wonders!!! I had dust under mine from start!!
Hello. Some time ago, I broke my digitizer and had to replace it. I ordered just the plain digitizer, removed the old one from the frame and put the new one on. The guides recommended to use double sided tape, but I used glue instead. Now, I've already had to open the device once to clean the dust. When I changed the digitizer, there were 2 small particles of dust accidentally left under the screen, and over time there were eventually 100s of particles. 2 days ago I cleaned the digitizer and LCD of dust and again, accidentally left a small particle of dust under the screen, but it didn't really bother me. Now I am already seeing 10s of dust particles under the screen. Where is it all coming from? Could it be because I used glue in the first place to put the glass to the digitizer instead of tape?
Oh, and I'll mention that with the original digitizer+frame there were no dust problems

When i change my digitizer to me i didnt found so much dust.(and i was using the phone for 1,5 year.
I didn't have any dust problems with original digitizer either, but when I installed a new one and used glue to put the glass to the frame (the original used double-sided tape) I started getting dust problems.

Well, I've never replaced this phone digitizer. But I've done it with other phones, and some ipods. From my experience, I think you have the answer: using glue instead of double-sided tape creates some little holes as the glue dries and (hope to made myself understandable) "compresses" itself leaving some empty spaces "behind". ¿Do you have any possibility to clean glue and reinstall with double sided tape?

I'll probably order a new digitizer, the one I have has scratches. I am not sure if I should order digitizer+frame and attach it myself using double sided tape or order a frame with the digitizer already attatched? The plus side to ordering a ready one is that it'll save me a few hours of work, but maybe they used glue to attach glass to the frame?

I would trust that if they sold it attached, it should be by the "official" way. And as I understand, that is with double-sided tape. But of course, I can't be sure.
I changed mine a couple of weeks ago and have the same problem. I used double sided tape but I cut it myself in small fragments and might not have been that accurate and might have left gaps between the fragments. Don't really remember what it looks like from inside but could the hole for the phone speaker allow dust to get in from above? Really have to open it up and seal it better...
Unfortunately the display of my X98 Air 3G is broken.
I checked with aliexpress and found various replacement displays.
However I could not find a tutorial on how to replace the display.
Any help or a link to a step by step guide would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
It's quite easy. . . just take your time.
I replaced the digitizer on mine a few weeks ago. It's a very easy task to accomplish. Just take your time. If your old digitizer screen is badly cracked, cover it with masking tape to hold the pieces of glass in place before continuing.
The digitizer is held in place with double-sided tape. To soften the bond, use a hair dryer or paint remover blower (just keep it a few inches from the screen and don't let the screen become too hot). As the old bond softens, use guitar picks or some other plastic tool to wedge between the digitizer frame and the tablet frame and slide the pick or tool carefully all the way around. This takes a few minutes to work you way around the outside edges of the tablet screen. Be patient and work at it slowly.
Once you have it free, open the back of the tablet with the same guitar pick or tool (the back pops off white easily). Be careful to retain the switch buttons which will fall off when you remove the back.
Disconnect the digitizer ribbon cable from the motherboard by sliding back the black end tabs and lifting the flap to free the cable.
Clean off the LCD panel, make sure there are no dust or glass particles. Use alcohol or eye glass cleaner to carefully wipe it clean
The new digitizer already has double-sided tape attached. Peel off the protective film on the inside of the new digitizer. Peel off the protective strips from the double-sided tape. Feed the ribbon cable through the slot and carefully line up the new digitizer to the frame. Gently press around the edges to hold it in position. Attach the ribbon cable, close the connector flap and lock both sides. Fold and tape the excess ribbon cable to keep things flat.
Insert the power/volume buttons in their slot on the back panel and close the tablet and snap it into place. Check that the new digitizer is firmly in place.
You're done.
There are many YouTube videos showing how to remove the digitizer on various other tablets, they are pretty well all the same including your Teclast.
Have fun
Where you brought that screen and how much was that?
As I saw right now is very expensive...
The corner of my glass has started coming up from the rest of the phone. It looks like some kind of foam glue used to hold it together. The phone is perfect otherwise. Is there any way to repair this other than buying a new screen and digitizer assembly? I can attach a picture if this description is not clear.
I also would rather not remove the glass from the LCD as this looks difficult and risky.

It turns out you can remove the entire screen assembly from it's metal and plastic frame with a little heat and a thin plastic prying tool (I used a guitar pick). I tried LCD tape but it was not strong enough. I ended up using loctite plastic bonder and it seems to be holding strong. I just hope it lasts long enough so a new phone comes out which can adequately replace my Turbo.
