WatchAnonymous: Internet Censorship - EMERGENCY ACTION REQUIRED
THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE CALL TO ACTION! There are two new immediate threats to internet freedom: Obama's Cyber-Security Executive Order and the TPPA. We must mobilize resistance immediately.
Transcript:
Greetings Citizens of the United States and the World.
Emergency Action Required.
We have been valiant thus far in protecting our internet. We stopped both SOPA and CISPA. Then they pushed for the international treaty, ACTA, and the entire world pushed back. But we're not finished yet. There are two more threats that we must unite together again to defeat.
The first is a CISPA like executive order that the White House is considering. In order to pass these bills that Congress has rejected, the Obama administration has taken to the use of Executive Orders so that they may bypass Congress entirely. This is incredibly concerning as the process is very complex for Congress to overturn laws passed this way. The Supreme Court may also declare it unconstitutional, but such incidents are very rare. With enough opposition, we can stop this before it even gets off the ground.
The second, and more immediate threat, is another international treaty. Like ACTA, this treaty has been negotiated in secret. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is so secret that not even the Congressional Committee in charge of such treaties can even see the bill. It is however, viewable by six hundred corporate representatives. All we know is what has been leaked thus far, and it reaches well beyond the scope of simply censoring the internet. It's yet another bill to grant more power to multinational corporations. If this treaty is ratified, the only way it can be altered is through the agreement of every country involved.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation has tried to rally the troops: "Don't Let TPP Become the Next ACTA: Contact Your Lawmakers and Demand Transparency!"
...the TPP is being negotiated in secret, and on a fast timetable. We don't know what's in the TPP IP chapter, and that's what worries us. Entertainment industry executives who are members of the Industry Trade Advisory Committee will likely get to see the agreement drafts -- again -- but the rest of us will be kept in the dark unless we speak up now.
And they are not alone in attempting to warn everyone. The Huffington Post, Guardian, ACLU, Examiner, Alternet, Current, Techdirt, DailyKos, Truthout, and many more have all reported on this atrocity. Even members of Congress have introduced legislation due the extreme secrecy of this treaty.
This is an immediate call to action.
Contact your members of Congress, educate your friends and family, create art, videos, and stage protests. Do everything you can to help raise awareness as they plan to push this through before the next election. We have very little time to stop this. Many around the world and a few in the States have been trying to raise awareness. Let us unite once again to protect the very few freedoms we have left!
We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not Forgive Oppression.
We do not Forget Censorship.
Expect us.

I've always wished the new Anon messages would just simultaneously appear on ALL TVs/monitors, interrupting everything going on and causing people to just stop what they are doing and watch. Like what happens in movies, usually with the antagonist.

Ya, me too!! That would be awesome!! But on the other hand, i think those people, who don't know who Anons are and what they are fighting against and for, will just think of them as some hacker who hacked into the TV stations and well some others will be scared and few others will just LOL.. And If that really happens, we will be very pleased!!:fingers-crossed:

So basically there's 2 things that might happen, that you know nothing about, but there's stuff that you suggest may probably happen.
Sigh. I feel like performing a bit of censorship of my own right now, but I'll restrain myself.

Before you read any further down in this thread, look HERE.
Imagine that! Apple is LITERALLY in denial. They're blaming the USERS for Apples ignorance in the Mobile Device World. When will the Apple users learn that their devices ARE HUGE PILES OF CRAP!?.. AND ACTUALLY ADMIT IT!?!?!?! FAIL.
Here's the Reality: *When Apple tells users not to hold their device as they see comfortably fit is the day that the sheep get prodded once more.. and all the sheep go back into their state of denial, following the trend of IDIOTS around the world who actually continue paying for Apples Stupidity. Apple has never been #1 in the world for anything besides failure, and that shall never change.
[*And hey, that happened TODAY... run along little mindless sheep... go back to your Apple Tree and cry]
Smart Choice: Buy something that doesn't have a FRUIT LOGO ON IT!!! And they day you do that is the day you'll look in the mirror and laugh at the previous you for falling for an over-budgeted advertising scheme and following the rest of the sheep. Forget Apple and you'll be human again, not an ignorant waste of [male mating juice].
God help all Apple users around the world, allow them to lose the blinding curtain of stupidity that floods their vision. And allow them to once-again think for themselves.
There, I feel better.
What are your thoughts on this issue? And be honest...
[At Staff: If this thread is simply TOO much, feel free to delete it. I just thought it was time for Apple Fans to step into reality.]
Agent Zach
I've been reading your posts for sometime now and in "some" occasions don't really approve or side with your opinions but this time...buddy...right in the nose.
I'm still in awe about the way Apple does business, taking advantage of people just because they are the company that once revolutionized the computer industry with personal computers. It’s like buying a cell phone from Fidel Castro using Hugo Chavez cell company…a marriage made to match.
Just like sheep I tells ya, sheep!!
I was shocked a flaw this big gets through product testing, and then they tell you not to hold it that way? That's it? A flaw that doesn't allow you to use the phone as a phone is a HUGE problem, and Apple won't acknowledge it.
Of course they won't. Why take the blame when they can blame at&t some more.
After reading some reviews, etc.. it seems even the WiFi loses signal when held in hand.
And I'm sure at&t isn't logged into every router in the world... or are they? [We already know Google was once. ]
It's just another fail strategy by the reincarnated Adolf Hitler {Zhe Fuhrer} [Steve Jobs].
if you dont like apple products then thats your problem why do you want the ppl to stop using apple???its a personal choice...not your choice....
All-in-all, I don't want people to stop using their Apple products, I just want them to stop lying to their friends, family, and even THEMSELVES.
Besides, when someone walks into my home with an Apple product, it makes me feel better about about my device, knowing that it works the way it should and they I want it to. Apples devices, on the other hand, work the way Apple wants them to, not how the user wants them to...
are you envy of your friends iphone dropping signals? theres an app for that! lol

To make this a fair thread, could you please post the link where I can sign to show my support for ACTA?
To be honest I have not seen a single place/petition or anything PRO ACTA because to be honest who in the right mind would be for having everything they do in life watched, monitored and recorded / Having someone else decide what they are and are not allowed to see / say. That is the most basic of Human rights removed...
So sorry no link 'FOR' ACTA.
STOP ACTA!
Thanks for the support, Please sign the petition if you haven't already

It's not up to you to decide what other people should believe in then?
Biased thread is biased.
I am not deciding what other people should beleive in or demanding I am simply saying I don't understand why anyone would be 'for' this. There is a difference. I am not saying something like 'Anyone pro ACTA is stupid' It was just simply I couldn't understand it.
And yes I am biased I can openly admit that however I will always listen to counter arguments and you are welcome to give reasons why you are pro ACTA.
Also on the other hand as far as I am aware there are no PRO ACTA Petitions because I have not met a person who would like it so its not just me being biased as to why there is no PRO ACTA links.
I appologise if this upsets you.

stop acta !!!!
I think the Judiciary should look into this idea that pay-offs made to politicians by big media should be seen as bribes, and as such impeachments should be handed down.
Is there any evidence of these so called 'bribes' though? You can't say they exist without proof and I haven't seen anything like that.
Almost at 1.2 Million. Can we reach their next target of 2 Million signatures?
Alot happening last night and I was too busy so going to catch up with whats happening now....

6 REASONS TO BE AGAINST ACTA (Important links at the bottom)
1: SURVEILLANCE: "Currently the internet works a lot like the highway system -- there are rules, and there are police patrolling the information highway looking to make sure those rules are followed. But citizens have the constitutionally guaranteed freedom to travel it without warrantless searches or seizures. Under the new system, it would be as if the highway patrol put a video camera, GPS, and sensor network inside your car tracking your every movement."
2: SECRECY: "The trouble with ACTA is that it was all carried out under the shroud of secrecy and executive orders. The public would never have known about ACTA's wild provisions at all, were it not for a source/sources close to the trade agreement who leaked it to the internet." There is proof that ACTA was first talked about and put in Motion from as early as May 2008 and we are only hearing about it now over 3 years later.
3: CHANGEABLE: "ACTA is a fluid document, in that unlike a law like SOPA or PIPA, it can be changed or altered at any time with little effort outside of convincing the member states to embrace the change." From a video at the bottom of this post you will find there are big secrets about ACTA that are not yet 'part of ACTA' but as soon as ACTA becomes enforced world wide they are free to add in these secret parts which are automatically enforceable and nothing you can do about it!
4: ABOVE THE LAW: ACTA gives the rights of Media Companies to and Copyright holders to view your information, your actions and to disconnect you from the internet without a court order. Once enforced it is untouchable via national laws and override them all.
5: ILLEGAL: "ACTA is Likely an Illegal Document"
""the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.""
6: BRIBERY: "cash payments for favourable rules" Media Companies are paying to have their own rules agreed to.

ACTA is something places around the world have been thinking up in secret for years to help stop free speech. Which we don't want. ACTA basicly gives our internet providers a ability to put someone in jail if they have copyrighted content. It also gives people to freedom to get a drug banned just because they don't like something in it, even if it can help save the lives of milions of people. ACTA is not a good thing.

New Internet instead of fighting ACTA

LET CREATE NEW INTERNET INSTEAD FIGHTING AGAINST ACTA
Guys, I was thinking to do somenthing else.
Laws of the univers support and sustain creation and not fighting. Saint Maria Theresa when she was invited to the meeting against war, she decline saiing that she will attend when a meeting FOR PEACE will be held.
Insead of fighting against ACTA let's create another INTERNET, that will be free form all this bull**** from the beggining.
It will need a little effort, writing new TCP/IP and create a new INTERNET that we can upload and download all that we want because it will be int the bylaws from the beggining.
I am not a software writer, I am a user and a manager. I have ideas.
What it would take to create a new INTERNET, from zero?
In case ACTA prevails we would have to do that anyway!
My oppinion!

This would mean (clearly theoretical) digging the whole earth and making new connections and programing walls of texts, so that it would be completely isolated from the "old" one. Without that, the "cops" might switch between those two, and you'll need billions and billions and billions of dollars to set the whole infrastructure up. Anyway, after some time some a$$holes would reveal all the secrets of the new Internet and law would bite ur ass

Samsung and Child Labor in China

This is an email that I received from change.org. I find it quite startling.
My name is Li Qiang and I lead a group called China Labor Watch that investigates and exposes worker exploitation. As a rights lawyer committed to knowing every detail of China's labor laws -- and how they're ignored and broken -- I was shocked when I learned what's happening in the Chinese factories supplying electronic giant Samsung.
Children as young as 14 years old work 11 hour night shifts, 28 days a month and are denied medical care and even pay.
The exploitation of workers at Samsung's supplier factories must stop now -- and I'm confident that if enough people speak out, the tech giant will be forced to respond just like Apple had to earlier this year.
I started a petition on Change.org calling on Samsung to end worker abuse in the factories making its products. Click here to sign my petition now.
When 14-year-old Xiaofang (an alias, for her protection) got hurt after she fell down a flight of stairs at the factory, the owners and managers wouldn't even let her see a doctor. They wouldn't give her sick leave to recover and docked 6 days of her pay. Then, she was fired without any compensation.
Our investigators heard dozens of similar accounts from employees at the factory --even workers being hit by managers or forced to stand all day as punishment for a mistake. In addition to laboring in dangerous conditions every day, we discovered that children like Xiaofang working in this Chinese factory are paid only 70% of what adults are paid. The factory owners know it, but create fake IDs for the children and exploit them with lower pay and part-time hours so the authorities won't find out.
A few months ago, I saw the tremendous impact that a petition on Change.org had when it called for Apple to improve conditions in a supplier's factory. More than 250,000 people signed that petition, started by an Apple customer in Washington, DC. It was also covered by worldwide news media extensively. And in the end, Apple listened. When we found out about the horrific working conditions at Samsung's supplier factory, I knew we had to start a petition on Change.org right away.
I'm confident we can make a difference in the lives of these workers and in the way Samsung's products are made. Please click here and sign my petition calling on Samsung to stop labor abuse in factories making its products now.
Thank you.
- Li Qiang Executive Director, China Labor Watch
I love Samsung's products, but this isn't right. Sign the petition of you agree! Link - http://www.change.org/petitions/sam...campaign=10982&alert_id=JVUbGCTRtt_QLvUhQeLDP

Change.org is a reliable site. It's not necessarily spam.

They are a reliable site, but any "news" that comes out of China needs quite a bit of vetting before it's taken as fact. When I see some real evidence I'll step in.
Do you guys honestly thing Samsung would do this? It would give Apple one more thing to sue them for because they blatantly stole this idea from Apple and even I can't deny that
Whilst I obviously don't support child labour in any way, this forum really isn't the place for this topic of conversation. There are many far more politically based sites out there where this would be more suitable.

Will XDA help overcome government kill switch

Here in the good ole US of A Congress has passed a new law implementing a regulation that will require cell phone manufacturers to ship phones with a kill switch. Articles like this pursue... http://www.offthegridnews.com/2014/...-police-to-shut-off-all-cell-phones-remotely/
I wonder if the devs here at XDA will develop ways to hack the kill switch so that if a citizen doesn't want our phones at the control of law enforcement or the government whims then we can kill the kill switch. Hope so. I understand the general idea of it. But it does lend itself to the possibility of corruption and conspiracies. Maybe I don't want a kill switch...

Firstly, it's a state law so it's not applicable anywhere else in the US. Yes, that could change in the future but it could also be repealed so let's stick to the current facts.
Secondly, the bill itself states this...

Consumers should have the option to affirmatively elect to disable this protection, but it must be clear to the consumer that the function the consumer is electing to disable is intended to prevent the unauthorized use of the device.

This means that you can simply click "I don't want that" and it won't be enabled.
Informed choice is informed choice. The number of people who decide against having it enabled on their phone will definitely outweigh the number of people that would come here looking for a technical solution. Also, there would be no "fix" on here since all they'd have to do is hard reset their phone and go through the setup again.

This is true... For now. Things in the U.S. Are getting increasingly more over controlled by the government. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point it wasn't optional and it is just pushed as "being for our own good" the government thinks that we can't make decisions for ourselves. Just wondered if anyone else thought of that. If enough people opt out either:
A. The government will do away with the requirements
B. The government will decide that people obviously aren't informed enough to make decisions by themselves so they will make it mandatory.
Time will tell...

I understood its something that puts the phone into an unusable state if it gets stolen..
Anything else?
No offense but USA focuses on crazy laws when they could use the time to actually focus on causes that matter.
Again, the freedom of USA is at cost. I'm so happy I live in NZ.

Perhaps the US should focus their time and money on putting this killswitch in their military hardware, first.... (If you don't know why, the Russians in east Ukraine have recently managed to acquire 3 battalions worth of heavy duty US-army hardware by means of occupation... Wouldn't it have been nice to have had that killswitch there..)
I'm fully against the government meddling in human stupidity. If people are dumb enough to leave their bags open, leave their phones on tables and leave them half-sticking out of their pockets, that is their own fault and they should deal with the consequences of their negligence by themselves. As opposed to bothering the rest of us with their stupidity.
No offense but I always thought the American government is crazy starting with the illegal sim unlocking. I've heard this kill switch before but didn't know what it does or what it is for. I'm glad this crazy thing doesn't apply here.
Well,..... I haven't checked in a few days... Glad this post became about politics and nothing to do with my original question. But whatever. Just for giggles....
