This is an email that I received from change.org. I find it quite startling.
My name is Li Qiang and I lead a group called China Labor Watch that investigates and exposes worker exploitation. As a rights lawyer committed to knowing every detail of China's labor laws -- and how they're ignored and broken -- I was shocked when I learned what's happening in the Chinese factories supplying electronic giant Samsung.
Children as young as 14 years old work 11 hour night shifts, 28 days a month and are denied medical care and even pay.
The exploitation of workers at Samsung's supplier factories must stop now -- and I'm confident that if enough people speak out, the tech giant will be forced to respond just like Apple had to earlier this year.
I started a petition on Change.org calling on Samsung to end worker abuse in the factories making its products. Click here to sign my petition now.
When 14-year-old Xiaofang (an alias, for her protection) got hurt after she fell down a flight of stairs at the factory, the owners and managers wouldn't even let her see a doctor. They wouldn't give her sick leave to recover and docked 6 days of her pay. Then, she was fired without any compensation.
Our investigators heard dozens of similar accounts from employees at the factory --even workers being hit by managers or forced to stand all day as punishment for a mistake. In addition to laboring in dangerous conditions every day, we discovered that children like Xiaofang working in this Chinese factory are paid only 70% of what adults are paid. The factory owners know it, but create fake IDs for the children and exploit them with lower pay and part-time hours so the authorities won't find out.
A few months ago, I saw the tremendous impact that a petition on Change.org had when it called for Apple to improve conditions in a supplier's factory. More than 250,000 people signed that petition, started by an Apple customer in Washington, DC. It was also covered by worldwide news media extensively. And in the end, Apple listened. When we found out about the horrific working conditions at Samsung's supplier factory, I knew we had to start a petition on Change.org right away.
I'm confident we can make a difference in the lives of these workers and in the way Samsung's products are made. Please click here and sign my petition calling on Samsung to stop labor abuse in factories making its products now.
Thank you.
- Li Qiang Executive Director, China Labor Watch
I love Samsung's products, but this isn't right. Sign the petition of you agree! Link - http://www.change.org/petitions/sam...campaign=10982&alert_id=JVUbGCTRtt_QLvUhQeLDP

Change.org is a reliable site. It's not necessarily spam.
(do some research)
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
They are a reliable site, but any "news" that comes out of China needs quite a bit of vetting before it's taken as fact. When I see some real evidence I'll step in.
Do you guys honestly thing Samsung would do this? It would give Apple one more thing to sue them for because they blatantly stole this idea from Apple and even I can't deny that
Whilst I obviously don't support child labour in any way, this forum really isn't the place for this topic of conversation. There are many far more politically based sites out there where this would be more suitable.

Fight Back: Congress Pushing Broad Internet Snooping Bill
"A direct assault on Internet users" is what the ACLU is calling it. A U.S. House committee has already approved HR 1981, a broad new Internet snooping bill.
They want to force Internet service providers to keep track of and retain their customers' information -- including your name, address, phone number, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and temporarily-assigned IP addresses.
And get this: It's authored by lead SOPA sponsor Lamar Smith.
The ACLU, EFF, Demand Progress, and 25 other civil liberties and privacy groups have expressed our opposition to this legislation. Will you join us, by emailing your lawmakers today? Just use the form at right.
ISPs would collect and retain your data whether or not you're accused of a crime. Supporters shamelessly dubbed it the "Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act," but our staunchest allies in Congress are calling it what it is: an all-encompassing Internet snooping bill.
Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California, who led Democratic opposition to the bill said, "It represents a data bank of every digital act by every American [that would] let us find out where every single American visited Web sites."

From today:
Samsung, HTC to block US , EU Sales Of iPhone 5 Using LTE Patents
"It turns out that the iPhone 5 will be using the LTE radio standard for high-speed data transfer – a standard based on hundreds of different patents, some of which are held by HTC and Samsung. According to an industry source, “Samsung Electronics has decided to take immediate legal action against the Cupertino-based Apple. Countries in Europe and even the United States"
"On the HTC side, the legal battle is already under way. HTC has presented its patent claims before a US International Trade Commission Judge. The legal battle is still playing out, but Judge Thomas Pender has let Apple know that “Clear and convincing means something to me; I have to be pretty darn certain a US patent is invalid,” when Apple lawyers disputed the validity of HTC’s LTE patents."

WatchAnonymous: Internet Censorship - EMERGENCY ACTION REQUIRED
THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE CALL TO ACTION! There are two new immediate threats to internet freedom: Obama's Cyber-Security Executive Order and the TPPA. We must mobilize resistance immediately.
Transcript:
Greetings Citizens of the United States and the World.
Emergency Action Required.
We have been valiant thus far in protecting our internet. We stopped both SOPA and CISPA. Then they pushed for the international treaty, ACTA, and the entire world pushed back. But we're not finished yet. There are two more threats that we must unite together again to defeat.
The first is a CISPA like executive order that the White House is considering. In order to pass these bills that Congress has rejected, the Obama administration has taken to the use of Executive Orders so that they may bypass Congress entirely. This is incredibly concerning as the process is very complex for Congress to overturn laws passed this way. The Supreme Court may also declare it unconstitutional, but such incidents are very rare. With enough opposition, we can stop this before it even gets off the ground.
The second, and more immediate threat, is another international treaty. Like ACTA, this treaty has been negotiated in secret. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is so secret that not even the Congressional Committee in charge of such treaties can even see the bill. It is however, viewable by six hundred corporate representatives. All we know is what has been leaked thus far, and it reaches well beyond the scope of simply censoring the internet. It's yet another bill to grant more power to multinational corporations. If this treaty is ratified, the only way it can be altered is through the agreement of every country involved.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation has tried to rally the troops: "Don't Let TPP Become the Next ACTA: Contact Your Lawmakers and Demand Transparency!"
...the TPP is being negotiated in secret, and on a fast timetable. We don't know what's in the TPP IP chapter, and that's what worries us. Entertainment industry executives who are members of the Industry Trade Advisory Committee will likely get to see the agreement drafts -- again -- but the rest of us will be kept in the dark unless we speak up now.
And they are not alone in attempting to warn everyone. The Huffington Post, Guardian, ACLU, Examiner, Alternet, Current, Techdirt, DailyKos, Truthout, and many more have all reported on this atrocity. Even members of Congress have introduced legislation due the extreme secrecy of this treaty.
This is an immediate call to action.
Contact your members of Congress, educate your friends and family, create art, videos, and stage protests. Do everything you can to help raise awareness as they plan to push this through before the next election. We have very little time to stop this. Many around the world and a few in the States have been trying to raise awareness. Let us unite once again to protect the very few freedoms we have left!
We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not Forgive Oppression.
We do not Forget Censorship.
Expect us.

Ya, me too!! That would be awesome!! But on the other hand, i think those people, who don't know who Anons are and what they are fighting against and for, will just think of them as some hacker who hacked into the TV stations and well some others will be scared and few others will just LOL.. And If that really happens, we will be very pleased!!:fingers-crossed:
So basically there's 2 things that might happen, that you know nothing about, but there's stuff that you suggest may probably happen.
Sigh. I feel like performing a bit of censorship of my own right now, but I'll restrain myself.

NO! Reason: As I could observe, again and again hacks and other problems. A rather obscure thing.
As I have read in the past:
Market place Bitomat had to place themselves to the sale, because they had lost the access to 17.000 Bitcoins.
MyBitcoin had give up after a hacker attack, whereby more than 78,000 Bitcoins disappeared.
In 2012 had to stop the market place Bitfloor temporarily the activities, because by a hacker attack 24,000 Bitcoins were stolen.
And so forth ...
Ahhhh the "silk roads" favorite currency

Too much of a hassle. Plus anything I would buy with them I can probably find IRL.
I used to. Sold it on Tuesday when it was $170. Got $1700. Do the Math.
The reason I sold it is simple. I may sound like a Hipster but now Bitcoin has become huge and mainstream and that my local news channels talk about it, people would start to try it and the price would crash. Upon this prediction, I sold the coins. And like I predicted, the stock crashed and the people on reddit all got paranoid. Job Well Done.
Nope, never have and I hope I'll never have to. My friend used to, but gave up because of how ridiculous the whole process was.

Yes I use cryptocurrencies (BTC LTC NMC etc..)
First, anyone saying Bitcoin has been compromised is flat out wrong, and either mis-, or (more likely) under informed.
Saying Bitcoin has been hacked is the equivalent to saying "I use an MS operating system and visited a shady website, and subsequently became infected with malware in the form of a key-logger. The owner of the malware then used the logger to gain access to my bank account. Clearly my bank has been compromised."
What has not happened is bitcoin being compromised. What has happened are DDoS attacks and computers that hold bitcoin wallets being compromised. This is mitigatable by simply storing your wallet on a USB stick or some other off-line medium, you cannot hack what is not plugged in.
Bitcoin uses SHA-256 encryption that, has not been compromised, and even if it were 512 or 1024 etc.. could be easily implemented, which are orders of magnitude harder to decrypt. Bitcoin did not invent the security it simply implemented it in a new an unusual way. If security is an issue take a look at LiteCoin, it's security is impressive to say the least.
Second, my grandmother (God rest her soul) never used email, but she did write letters. Bitcoin may not be the end all solution, but it's the beginning of what will be to currency as email was to letters and the web is to newspapers. Did you use BBS before the internet took off? I did. It wasn't the best solution, just the best one we had at the time. Bitcoin is an experiment read the whitepaper released by Satoshi Nakamoto.
Yes, the market is volitle, and rightfully so it is new, and the attacks against it are a good thing, as they are strengthening it. You wouldn't want a lock that had never been tested.
I've used it to buy all manner of things, (food, clothes, TV, computers) and I mined most of the coins I currently hold.
I'm not saying use it, but if your going to knock it, at least know what your talking about. I'm someone that likes to use bleeding edge tech, and am aware I may be burned by doing so. This one technology has allowed me to enjoy other tech devices, as I could not afford them without the profit I've made mining.
I do wish it was implemented on these forums, as I would tip posts and use it to make purchases on this site. Yes you do have PayPal, and I've got a rotary phone but I'm not going to use that anymore either.
Funny reading this thread of all the losers who put down bitcoin because they know nothing about it. I am making a fortune off it! These posters might want to open their eyes and look again.

I mine Bitcoins and use them to buy Lindens. I use an old Acer laptop that uses very little power, running Mint. This is not a real good way to make money. I do it mostly for fun.
Bitcoin is now trading at $320. Has anyone else taken a second look? I really believe these are about to go ballistic because now the entire world is starting to catch on. Right now, China is buying up about twice as many as the US. As more countries adopt the bitcoin as a true value currency you are going to see exponential growth.

Curious to hear other people opinions.
