(help)camera failed - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys..I'm new here..have this problem with my tablet..it always shows camera failed everytime I open it..i've tried almost anything to revive it..
here's what happened..
1. I've upgraded to custom ROM using cm nigtly release..(forgot what version)..then camera failed..
2. Restock it with the orig ROM 2.3.3 gingerbread using ODIN..still camera failed
3. upgraded to CM 9.1 hoping it would fix everything coz I've read it here that it is by far the most stable CM ..but still amera failed
4. Froze the camera using TB>rebooted> defroze camera using TB>tried camera>camera failed
5. tried replacing the stock e-mail.apk with the one I downloaded here in this forum..unfortunately, everytime I try renaming the e-mail apk for it to be replace with the apk I downloaded here, it just stays as it is- I used droid tweaker to do do this part.. still camera failed
6. restocked to 2.3.3 using ODIN and tried above method..camera fail
7. flashed it to ICS CM 9.1 again..camera failed..
8. restocked to 2.3.3..
here's the weird part..
suddenly the camera worked, got it runnign for a couple of minutes..closed it..re installed flashlight.apk..then booommm..camera failed again..
I was like cursing myself for that wrong move..camera failed again..
it's so frustrating doin it over and over again..
can somebody help me flash this to froyo so I can try if the camera still fails..this will be my last attempt of fixing it..
pls guys do help me out..ty
EDIT: Ive rectified the problem..found out it was a hardware problem..I disassembled the the tab and switch it on and took of the the back facing camera while it's still on..and put it back..tried the cam and it ran flawlessly as before..after which..I rebooted the system..went to recovery mode, did a factory reset, cleared cache..and rebboted the system..and restock it with its originall GB ROM..

[Q] HELP ! CM7 install

When installing cm7 1.0 rc on i9000, ive been trying for a week now to get this right. Tried to install cm7 from froyo stock, no luck. Tried installing GB 2.3.4 stock and tried again.
When installing in cmr it says install complete and then the phone reboots into cm7, now installation guides say the phone should boot into cmr and then you can install Gapps or whatever. This is not the case though.
Also i asked for advice in XDA regarding another issue and was advised to run a nightly version of cm7. This i dont understand.
Also when i try and restore to GB 2.3.4 stock in cmr, it says resore sucessfull/complete, then the phone reboots and gets no further than the Samsung Galaxy S startup screen, the phone then reboots into cmr and i get E: errors such as cant mount cache, or cant find cache/mount/log, then the phone has to be re-flashed back to stock GB 2.3.4.
1. there is no suck thing as rc10...
2.you can`t restore old gb rom...you need to flash through odin using repartition and then restore, because cm7 is mtd
Its cm7 1.0 rc sorry
can you please point me to a link that shows how to do this this is my first samsung phone and these thing are different to me thanks in advance
this is what he has been trying http://tips4tech.net/2011/04/how-to...cm7-on-galaxy-s-review-tutorial-and-download/
any help would be greatly appreciated

[Q] While Flashing Restart (after Checking state of BML/MTD)

I wanted to flash CyanogenMod 7.1 on my Samsung Galaxy S.
I flashed before a Froyo Bootloader (because I had Firmware 2.3.3) on it, copied the CM7.1 Rom on internal storage and tried to flash through Recovery.
While updating it shows me the install process till:
Checking state of BML/MTD
then it interruptes the install process and restarts the phone. But then it just shows me the Samsung logo and nothing happens (=freeze).
No chance to start the phone, altough I restart it several times.
Then I can flash again with Odin to the starting state again. The files for that I found here (german):

How can I flash CM7.1 now..?
Sometimes the cm7 rom will need flashed twice....you should be able to flash from any gingerbread rom also as cm7 was updated a while back to allow this. Try again, and if the phone starts bootlooping-pull the battery, replace and get into recovery-then reflash rom.
Unfortunately i cant enter recovery after unsuccessful flash. I have to use odin and flash back to old froyo... then i tried to reflash again to cm7.1 but it was always the same.
Thx anyway for ur answer...!
Hmmmmm ;(
Gesendet von meinem HTC Desire mit Tapatalk
no ideas? it is urgent.. ;(
it's really strange. it happened to me and I solved like this:
I removed the battery
volume up key + power button + home button
in recovery,I wipe everything and reflash of the rom
If recovery doesn't work, you need to reflash a stock rom, and a kernel with root and CWM
puuhh, at least another one who had this issue...
ok i understood that if i cant flash to cm7.1 then i have to chosse another rom, maybe just a stock rom.
but can anybody recommend a custom rom which will work? it is just a file system problem here, isnt it?
Done it!
Trying to flash the stable Rom didnt work.
Then i tried the nightly (181) and it took a while then it restarted. but when it was starting for the first time i got a loop while booting.
but this time i could enter the recovery (after stable installation it wasnt possible anymore) and i could reflash it (nightly again). and this time it worked!!! yeah finally after over 8 hours of work....
i hope i could help somebody who has got same issues
Glad you got it -and cm9 is now an easy upgrade from the latest nightly

[Q] Cannot install any custom roms. Phone acting weird

Hey guys. I've been using CyanogenMod on my Galaxy S for quite a long time. Few days ago my battery died and phone wouldn't pass the CyanogenMOD logo. I've decided to go back to stock rom and then upgrade to one of the new roms.
So I flashed the stock rom using Odin 3.07, rooted, went to recovery mode and tried to flash: Mackay ROM, Beast ROM ( black and white as well as beastxl), Avatar ROM, Slim Bean, Tsunami, CyanogenMOD but none of the above worked.
It starts the installation and after few seconds phone restarts itself and gets stuck on new boot logo.
The only thing that gets installed is the CWM which won't let me do the factory reset, wipe data, wipe dalvik cache etc. Keeps saying can't mount /data, /cache, /system.
The only time I can do factory reset is when I install stock rom.
I only succeeded installing Franzy ROM once but after reboot gets stuck on boot logo.
Sometimes even the stock ROM is giving me issues like process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly (does it for dialer, calculator, market, launcher)
Another weird thing is that even when I go back to stock rom and open up for instance a picture with bright background or web browser I can see transparent battery and CyanogemMod in the middle of the screen even tho phone's not charging and running on stock rom not CyanogenMod.
I think I've tried everything from fixing permissions, flash and re-partition using Odin and 512 pit file.
Even rang my Mom like advised in xda's video, didn't help either
Is there anything else I can try to get my phone in "shape"?
Any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply. Installing CM 9 worked but trying to install CM 10 throws up this error:
assert failed: run_program("tmp/updater.sh") == 0
E: Error in sdcard/cm-10.1.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Flash this one :
http://get.cm/get/3Fb
then install this one :

Thanks for your help. CM 9.1.0 installs fine, same error for 10.1.2 :/

did you tried to install other costum roms , like slimbean ?
There MIGHT be a problem with your internal SD card. Slight chance :/

Yes I did and only Franzys installed successfully but then stopped working after phone reboot.

I think that might be the case. I get encryption unsuccessful with my sdcard in and CWM doesn't see any files with sdcard out.
I found an article here on forum that explains how to use your external sdcard as the internal one. Will give it a try and see if it works.
For now I don't mind using CM 9.1.
Thanks for your help guys and let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Installation aborted, any fix?

I just found my old N7000 somewhere in the house and was trying to boot it up, it worked but it was JB Touchwizz.
Touchwizz is to heavy for my old N7000 and i was looking for a CM7 built, couldn't find it so i decided to flash CM9 onto it.
I downloaded a kernel and installed it on my device, after that i flashed CM9 onto it but it says it's not for my device, i was sure it was for my device so i toggled signature verification off but it still says the same 'Installation aborted' because it's the wrong device...
Now i don't have any roms.... my backups can't be restored too... and i can't flash a newer kernel since it also says installation aborted.
What to do?
PS: I know there is always Odin and download mode but i would love to hear some better suggestions.

Q&A Cyanogenmod 12.1 (unofficial) gone wrong

Hey guys,
need a little help on this one.
I' ve downloaded the cyanogenmod from winx and I was trying to do a clean ROM-install on my phone (gt-i9305)
I've allready tried to install it with TWRP, Phillz and Clockworkmod. The recoveryinstall of these mods worked fine using odin but after that i wiped all data and dalviks, etc and installed the rom along with the gapps.
The problem I'm having is that it seems to install fine (even factory resetted it after installation) but i can't get past the boot animation screen.
Is there any fix on this or is the phone dead from now on.
Grtz,
C
update on topic.
tried to flash the stockrom again and it didn't complete so now i have the message:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies | try again.
next update:
installed stockrom using odin and it worked, reinstalled twrp and installed cyanogenmod again.
This time with success. Expected a little help from you guys but eventually reading through forum and watching hours of youtube managed the problem just fine.
