Is there a way to go back to a completely stock Droid 4 , sort of the way it came out of the box? I am getting frustrated with this phone and just want to reset it back to complete stock before I did any of the rooting, etc.

Download the Droid 4 fatsboot files here:
Link
1 Download the fastboot .zip files above
2 Download and install RSDLite 5.7
3 Download and install the Motorola USB Drivers
4 Power off your phone
5 Hold the volume up, volume down, and power buttons at the same time until you see the bootloader menu
6 Use the volume down button to navigate to "Recovery" then use the volume up button to select it
7 When you see the android/triangle, press both volume buttons together
8 Select "wipe data/factory reset" and on the next screen select "Yes -- delete all user data"
9 Once it's finished, select "reboot system now" then immediately press both volume buttons until you see the bootloader menu
10 Connect your phone to your PC via USB
11 Use the volume down button to navigate to "AP Fastboot" then use the volume up button to select it
12 Open RSDLite, press the "..." button at the top, and select the fastboot image .zip file
13 Select "Decompress And Start Flashing" and wait for the process to finish (it will take around 20-30 minutes)
14 Once the process is complete, your device should function normally
Thanks for the steps! Definitely a good list to have when considering ROMs.
I don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but I went back to stock everything, reflashed with RSD, and the entire process is seemingly complete, except that the phone is currently stuck in a state where it says "Android is upgrading..." "Starting Applications". It has been this way for a solid 20 minutes. This is definitely NOT something I've ever experienced before.
For the record, I am flashing the .7.2-180_DR4-16_M2-37 Blur_Version.6.16.217.XT894.Verizon.en.US. This was the build on my phone before safestrap/custom ROM's/etc. I wanted to flash back to stock so I flashed the same ICS version.

Hey all!
I recently updated my phone's firmware to 2.3.5 (S5570XWKS7 firmware).
Has anyone tried downloading the recovery image from here

and installing it on a gingerbread firmware?
Thanks in advance!
Go here, download and flash from odin in 2 seconds last CWM for own phone ;-)

That simply will not work on a un-rooted phone. The stock / original recovery has very limited functionality.
Well, it's easy. Just follow this way:
1. Download the attachments to this post. (tass-recovery.cwm is the recovery, the other .rar has odin and tass.ops)
2. Put upd_1.zip on the root (On top, not in a folder) of your SD-card.
3. Boot into recovery. (When phone is powered off: Home-button + power) (Now you'll root your phone.
4. Use the volume buttons to highlight 'apply update from sdcard', then press home to select.
5. Use volume buttons to highlight 'upd_1.zip', then select with the home button.
6. Press home button to 'reboot system now'. Your phone is now rooted.
7. Power down your phone.
8. Enter download mode by pressing 'Volume down + Home button + power button.
9. Connect through USB to your PC.
10. Launch ODIN v4.38.
11. Wait for Odin to recognize your phone. (At the left, there will be a yellow box that says COM "?", the number can be different.)
12. Select Tass_v1.0.ops by pressing the 'OPS-button'
13. Make sure 'One package' is marked at the left of the window.
14. Select tass-recovery-cwm.tar with the 'One Package-button' at the bottom of your window.
15. Press start, wait 'till your phone reboots. Now you'll have ClockWorkMod-recovery installed.
then you're ready to flash any custom roms

I'm freaking out because mine is stuck on the black screen too... I was trying to flash the XML file for Fastboot. and it just went blank (blackscreen) can someone please help. I don't know if letting the battery die is the way to go? I have it connected to a laptop at the moment. I know they said that the XML file takes a whille, but it has been an hour. I do not have any warranty as this was a trial unit given to me.
I'm not that much of a Noob, but I'm not sure what to do at this point. <<<<---- Fixed using Volume down and Power to do a "battery pull" Although I almost Removed the battery physically.
Can you still boot into the unsafe system?
If so, is the unsafe system currently ICS or Gingerbread?

ICS leaks are not fastbootable.AFAIK, unless you just meant that you were trying to fastboot flash to 6.13.219 before flashing to ICS. Either way, here we go.
Go into safestrap, safe mode menu, then disable safe mode, and restart your droid. I am assuming you at least went into safe mode before trying to flash. If so, this is why we love safestrap...makes sure you have a working OS. Let it boot up. Did it work?
If not, don't panic, there is still another solution, even if you didn't safestrap your unmodified OS (just make sure you do this next time!)
If you did backup and safestrap saved you, ignore this block below for now.
Code:
[LIST=1]Download [COLOR="Red"]VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01[/COLOR].
You might already have this if that's what you were trying to fastboot to. It's 1.18GB in size.
Download is here: sbf.droid-developers DOT org/cdma_maserati/VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01.xml.zip
(change DOT to . Can't post links yet.)
[*]dl.dropbox DOT com/u/76950573/RSDLite5.7.msi Download RSDLite and install it.
[*]Download the Droid USB drivers:
motorola DOT com/Support/US-EN/Support-Homepage/Software_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
Install them. [COLOR="SeaGreen"][B]RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.[/B][/COLOR]
[*]Turn your phone off.
Hold the two side volume buttons down together, press and hold the power button down.
Hold all 3 down until you get to the bootloader.
Press volume down to get to "recovery", press volume up to select it.
You'll see a sick looking android/red triangle icon soon.
When you do see him, press both volume buttons down at the same time.[/list]
[*]Volume down to "wipe data/factory reset", power button to select (not volume up this time.)
Confirm, delete everything. When it finishes, select "reboot system", press the power key to enter that choice.
Immediately press both volume keys together after the reboot begins and hold them until you see the bootloader menu again.
[*]Plug your USB cable into your phone and connect it to your computer.
Use volume down to select "AP Fastboot", volume up to confirm the choice.
Open RSDLite on your PC.
Press the "....." icon in the program, browse to and select the 1GB+ VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01 you downloaded earlier.
[*]Click "decompress/start flashing". Now wait for half an hour or so.
I believe there will be several phone restarts near the end, this is normal.
You're now back to stock GB. You no longer have to fastboot to this in order to go forward to ICS.[/list].
Now to get to ICS...
Go here. droidforums DOT net/forum/droid-4-hacks/212307-droid-4-utility-updated.html and download the tool. You don't need anything else but the main tool.
Grab your preferred ICS leak. 6.16.217 is the most recent: droidforums DOT net/forum/droid-4-roms/218610-ics-leak-6-16-217-update-zip-boot-img-crc.html
Flash to 6.13.219 if you didn't just do that.(follow the steps in the CODE block above).
Open the droid 4 tool (.bat file) after extracting from the archive. Plug your phone into the USB. Set it to debug mode. Install safestrap 1.09, root the droid.
Unzip D4 6.16.217.zip. Rename boot.img to ICSFIX.img and move it into the droid 4 utility subfolder named \files\
Copy Blur_Version.6.13.219.XT894.Verizon.en.US.zip (leave it zipped.) to your SDcard.
Go into safestrap and make a backup. Turn on safe mode. Reboot.
Reboot into Bootloader, select AP Fastboot. USB should still be connected and the droid utility open. Select option 16. (Errors might occur. This is fine.) Flash your blur.zip from sdcard. Follow prompts on utility. It will reboot, do some animations. When you see the motorola logo, let it do its thing. Once the moto logo fades out, force a reboot (hold VOL keys & power down.) Now hold vol down and press power, boot to bootloader, and select recovery. Press both power buttons when you see the dead sick android logo. Update from sdcard. Select the zip.
Let it flash. It'll reboot.
Open the droid utility. If you flash to another ICS version, UNINSTALL safestrap 1.09, and then install; the new version 2 one. Make backups. Root your phone. Use the last option on the droid utility to flash between ICS versions.
You cannot use it to flash between something like AOKP or CM9 to a normal ICS version (Yes I actually tried this, lol).
Sorry for wall of text, hopefully this helps you in some way, whether you're still bricked, or still want to go to ICS after fixing your brick.

EDIT: I accidently posted this in the wrong forum. Im have the international version, not Verizon!
I've been trying to get CM10 on my phone and somehow i messed everything up and now i can ONLY get into download mode.
Im trying to follow this guide to get back to stock:
I. Before You Begin
This will only work using a Windows machine.
This will only work on the T-Mobile US version and versions from outside the US. Do NOT use this on AT&T or Verizon versions.
II. Install the Drivers
Download the LG ADB Drivers and install them (if you don’t already have them installed from the rooting procedure you used).
III. Download the Necessary Files
Download the stock firmware for you specific device here and save it to your desktop (look for it in step 1 of the original post and make sure to choose the firmware file for your specific device version).
Download the LG Mobile Support Tool to your desktop, install it, and then close it once it opens automatically.
Download the FlashTool to your desktop (it’s the .zip file after clicking on that link).
IV. Unroot the LG G2
Turn off the G2 by holding down the power button and keeping it held down until the screen goes black, then continue to hold it for a few seconds after it goes black to make sure it shut down.
Plug the G2 into the computer via the USB cable while holding Volume Up at the same time to put it into download mode.
Right-click the FlashTool .zip file and select Extract All.
Double-click UpTestEX.exe from inside the newly extracted folder.
In the R&D Test Tool window, select the following for each option listed:
Select Type – 3GQCT
PhoneMode – DIAG
Select KDZ file – Click this and select the .kdz file we downloaded in the previous section.
Click Normal web upgrade test.
Click Upgrade Start in the new popup window that appears.
Select Republic of Korea and English for the Country and Language window that appears after that.
Click OK.
When it finished flashing and is all done, turn off the phone and then turn it back on by holding down Power and Volume Down until a screen comes up.
Select Reset (this will finish erasing everything off the device and bringing it back to stock).
Click to collapse
I get to step where i click upgrade start but i dont get any window where im supposed to select language.
Instead LG Mobile Support Tool starts up and nothing happens.
I dont understand what im doing wrong. Please help me. :/

Do you still have a custom recovery? This happened to me, the same thing actually!
What I had to do was hold Volume Down and Power button until the LG logo shows up, then release ONLY the Power button while still holding the Volume Down button, then press the Power button again.
Or if this doesn't work,
Turn off phone, then when off, hold down power and volume down button until it reaches the LG logo and then release both buttons and hold it down again.
You will see a screen that says something like: Hard reset/ factory reset. Just follow the steps stated on screen until it boots you into recovery.
For me it took me to my recovery screen, where I just flashed a older ROM onto it. I then later flashed a recovery file.
It does take me a few times to get into that.
If that doesn't work, I don't know.
Thank you,
Stephen

Praise Jesus for this...I about had a heart attack. I have been rooting and installing custom ROMs since the G1...never had any issues. Was in a boot loop and could not get back into recovery for anything.
Nothing!
I rooted then attempted to installl TWRP... the phone turned off then turned on with the android ! icon... it shut off a few mins later. Now, all I get is the buzz and a black screen. LG Mobile Support Tool nor my computer will even recognize the device. Am I truly bricked beyond repair?
I'm trying to remotely help a friend with a Nexus 6 stuck in a bootloop. The phone is new, just out of the box. He accepted an OTA update before doing anything else, so no USB debugging (or anything else) was set. Now it's stuck in a bootloop.
Is there a step by step guide available to allow flashing a factory image in this situation. Everything I find so far requires USB debugging to be set first. Or, are we talking brick? Returning the phone would be very difficult.

He can do each of these steps but when it reboots after #6 it goes back to the dead robot and "no command"
1. With the phone powered off, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time until the device turns on. You will see the word "Start" with an arrow around it.
2. Press the Volume Down button twice to highlight "Recovery mode"
3. Press the Power button to restart into Recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark and the words "No command."
4. While holding down the Power button, press the Volume Up button.
5. Use the volume buttons to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power button to select it.
6. Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press the Power button to select it.

At this point, you must connect to a PC and see if you can get fastboot to recognize the device. Then we can proceed.

USB debugging does not have anything to do with being in fastboot or recovery. As long as the proper drivers are installed, your computer can recognize it and you can use fastboot in bootloader.
Hello. So a while back I got a Fire 7 5th Gen tablet for Christmas. I rooted it using KingRoot downloaded from Chrome, then one day I was so stupid, you know how many places tell you to not install TWRP. Well, I did it anyway, and while booting to it, it shut off for a couple days. When I was finally able to get it back on, well on first hand, I don't think it's in a bootloop, but it will show amazon, the fire goes on longer that normal (about a minute), then after that's done it just shows a blank screen with only a tad bit of light with it. Please, help. I also have a Fire HD 7 that I can't get past the password because I accidentally erased the keyboard and it won't pop up and another fire 7 that will show amazon, shuts off, shows amazon, cuts off, and continues in the same sequence. Any ideas?

hi! I have the same problem when my unrooted fire 5th gen suddenly froze and I got black screen, how do i do this?
I'll look for the link after this initial posting and add it after. Download the proper firmware and place the .zip into the same folder as platform-tools (the folder you use to use ADB.) Follow the steps below first, to possibly resolve issues before flashing firmware.
1) power down device. If you can't, press the power button and hold until device turns off.
2) When it's off, first press the volume down button and hold it, then press and hold the power button until the recovery screen comes up.
4) Scroll to 'wipe cache partition.' Select it with the power button. You won't lose any user data or files, yet.
5) Select reboot.
6) If problem is still there, follow steps 1-2 again.
7) Scroll to factory reset and select with power button. You WILL lose all user data and files.
8) Wipe cache partition again (I do this often if I go through resets).
9) Select reboot.
10) If problem STILL persists...Repeat steps one and two. Plug in tablet to PC. Select "make an update vis ADB" or something similar.
11) type: adb sideload xxx.zip (x being the firmware file).
12) That should do it assuming your device is recoverable.

See this thread..
If I recall, I don't think a notice pops up when you plug it in in recovery/fastboot. Try plugging it in and let it get a full charge from a wall outlet. Then try to power it back on into recovery while it is still plugged in. Don't plug it into your PC until you get past the recovery screen and select add update from adb. You might have to do that a few times. I had a similar problem on my XT907 phone where it would reboot every time I got into the recovery screen and I eventually was quick enough to get into fastboot to do what I needed.

I would wait and see if anyone else comments. I have not yet had the unfortunate experience of being totally cut off from recovery. Sorry I couldn't help
I've even tried talking Amazon to giving me a replacement. I'm pretty sure his name was Ajit and he said I was off the 90 day warranty, so sadly I don't even know what to do. I did learn something though. Whilst trying to boot it into recovery it becomes stuck on the Amazon logo. What if it's in recovery, but just not showing any recovery screen. This is all I know what I can do??
So m
So my theory is that there is access to recovery, but when you're in it, it only shows Amazon until you force it off. Could this possibly help anyone fix their own fire 7 5th gen. Because if you find out anything hit me with it. It could be helpful to others reading this post.

There is no recourse if you can not access the 'stock' recovery environment. The persistent Amazon logo simply indicates the device is stuck in the early stages of booting. Sorry for your loss.
