[Q] Galaxy S+ Charging in a very strang way (Problem) - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry to open a new thread as i already did a very useless deep search.
Below is the Problem:
1- Phone didn't fail down (ground or water).
2- phone functionality was excellent including charging, Kies and everything.
Now:
1- phone is not able to charge while on.
2- Going to dwonload mode is OK but ODIN can't detect it.
3- Kies can't detect it.
4- Power off the phone and try to charge is useless (Never charge).
I perform the exact following scenario:
1- Power off the phone.
2- Take off battery.
3- connect the power cable and nothing happened (This is Normal).
4- PUT BATTERY BACK
5- The phone Start charging (This is very strange !!!!!!!).
6- Pressing power while charging in off-line mode cause the phone correctly load the ROM and charging is ok.
The problem is:
1- Powring off the phone and then on again, can't charge (Previous scenario is the only way to charge).
2- Till now, can't connect to ODIN or any connection of any type.
Can Someone help?:crying:

Check your Battery contacts, clean if oxidized and contacts are firm, not loose, some use paper or tape to keep them in place . Similarly USB ports should also be clean.

Thank you for sharing with me this Idea, I did with no luck also.
I tried to clean it but it is really clean as i bought the phone few months ago and always keeping it clean.
I believe this is not the reason because the battery must not be able to operate the device in this case.
Yesterday, i tried many other ROMs with the same results.
When i thought about this problem from both sides (Hardware and Software), i found both are logic:
1- (Hardware Problem) because many ROMs with the same result.
2- (Software Problem) because it can charge under specific scenario..
I already visit your thread which is a great one and helped me already for many problems with another Phones.. (Thanks).

Hi, about ODIN and KIES problems, maybe you're not able to connect to the phone because of some drivers failure o conflicts...
could you try to use another PC (maybe you have already done that...)

I thought about the same before and tried from another 3 laptops with the same result.
BTW,
- I did NO change to the software in my laptop since last ODIN and KIES access.
- I did try disabling the Anti virus.
- I did try changing the Cables (i have many many).
- I did try using the same cable with the same laptop for another device and that device is OK.
- I did try with many other laptops with different cables for another device and all are OK.
- I did try with many power adapters with the same voltage and different power supply voltage (110 and 220).
in all cases, the mobile charges only under the mentioned specific scenario (Turn off, pull battery, connect charger then insert battery) but never do a PC communication under any case.
As i told you (VERY STRANGE WAY:angel

Currently, I'm thinking about any Tech. Soft. configuration that allow/prevent the device from being charge while the phone is ON.
We will need the experts input if such a config is currently present in any Cooked ROM, if yes it will help..

you need to use only the original samsung USB cable or someone mentioned that Huawei also worked, other than that most cables will not have data connection only charging

I used the original cable included in the box with the same result.
Also the original charger
No charge/No Communication !!!
As i reported early, Every thing was working with the same equipment under the same environment.

Have you throughly examined your Micro USB Slot, did come a cross another XD, who had one misaligned pin , that caused him headaches like yours, which he eventually managed to straighten with a needle ..this would give you some insight or even this attachment and the one below

It seems this is my only way to solve the problem..
Thanks.........

Kill diamond / flash a rom from the device?

Hi all.
I've got a malfunctioning diamond, the data usb connectors must have been disconnected from the phone.
I want to send it in for repair, but i have a bepe rom on it, i am afraid my service provider wont repair it because of the voided warranty by flashing a non-stock rom on my device.
Is there anyway i can transfer the stockrom (yes i have it) to my device, and flash it from there? I can charge my device.
If not, is it possible to overclock the cpu so the device will be destroyed or something in that direction?
-Heien.
Well, you could try to find the problem yourself by using the service manual in the wiki. Or...I can think of many ways you could "destroy" the phone.
please give me inspiration ?

Microwaves leave serious burn marks on the PCB's absolutely not recommended, any technician will recognize the obvious tamper.
There are several ways to brick a device, but these kind of practices are not condoned here, so this info will not be made public!
(Don't even try to PM me about it, I will ignore all PM's regarding this question, no exceptions!)
@heien
A lose usb connector can sometimes easily be fixed by using an SMD rework station (if the PCB traces are undamaged.
If the traces are damaged, you'll be in need of a new main board.
The biggest job on the diamond is to disassemble it, it takes up a lot of time.
But the repair itself would be fairly simple.
Don't even try it with a soldering Iron (ext-usb leads have a small footprint), you should use an SMD/SMT hot air rework station, or better ask a mate who has the experience and access to equipment for these kind of repairs.
Best of luck,
EqX
if u are taking it for a hardware malfunction why be worried about what ROM do you have?
do u think they'll (technicians) check the ROM version you have? why bother? they'll dismantle it and repair/change the mother board. maybe you'll got a diamond with a new motherboard and a new-stock ROM.
@ eqx
Thank you for the very kind, but nerdy suggestion I'm afraid my ten thumbs would kill the phone permanently.
@Kukuriku
is this something you have experienced, or ? but i get your point, maybe i should just turn it in tomorrow..
Are you sure the problem is hardware related?
I have pretty much the same problem as you. My diamond can charge through the usb port but cannot be detected by any PC (I tried several PCs). I also use bepe rom (9.7).

No. I have tried entering bootloader mode via bluetooth or with SSPL-Manual.exe but it’s still not detected.
The PC sometimes shows the "new peripheral detected" icon in the taskbar, but it disappears after a few seconds. The phone also shows me the menu (asking me to choose between activesync , storage disk and internet sharing).
PS: I have tried soft and hard resets

bootloader via bluetooth? i mean the Tri color boot screen.
while the phone is off, press volume down and power it on.
then connect pc via usb. "usb should appear on screen"
try flashing other that bepe's rom. it might be a software issue.

Thanks, but so far I haven't managed to get it to display "USB".
Either it shows "serial" or it shows nothing
basically my usb port is f***ed...
I'm stuck with a 1 month old phone that I can't flash or send back to orange for repair/exchange
+ I can only transfer files on it by bluetooth!

What Killed My Kaiser ..?

Hello all,
Ill try to give you as much clues as i can to solve this mystery ... i couldnt solve it myself, so maybe one of the bright minds here can help.
Problem:
Kaiser does not charge battery (charger /USB cable). Also it does not connect through the USB cable to the PC
My Take:
The pins are busted ....?
Clues:
1. Several USB cables / chargers have been tested with no use.
2. Double checked the adv pwr mgt tab.
3. Hard / soft reset -->no use
4. Even if the charger is plugged in for some time, it does not charge.
5. device is functioning ok in all aspects
6. Inspected the usb pins but nothing looks out of place
Might be related:
1. Just upgraded to Laure V 12 rom
2. had a small splash of tea for which the Kiaser recovered from fully (1 month back)
3. Kaiser fell on on a brick floor :O, but didn't get effected (2 months back)
Thats all that i can think of,
i have give up and im thinking of handing it to the Death Gods at HTC useless maintenance.
Im sure they would ask to change the whole board or something like that.
so do you think you know why ??
Did try to do a soft reset and stick in the wrong hole, kaisers have been known to stop working when you stick the stylus in the USB port.
hmmm, thats news to me.
But i dont recall doing that ever ...
Thanks for the tip mate

[Q] Unable to Charge - Urgent Please Help

Hello,
I've put some ROM's on my HTC touch Diamond and after some time my phone stopped charging and nor will it charge if i connect it through USB.
I've tried several other ROM's thinking it might be the ROM that stopped my phone from charging but apprently that's not it.
Any idea why I can't charge my phone? Am i doing something wrong?
Oh and is there a way to reverse all this? Like put it back to the original ROM when bought? I'd love to do that if possible
Thanks

You try to just do a hard reset for the device will be set back to factory default settings !! about how to do it, just look at here
I already did Hard Reset a multiple times and it doesn't reset the phone to the normal factory ROM, it keeps the current ROM on it.
Looks like a PSU problem. Did u try to keep the phone on , remove the PSU and shove it back in , then turning the phone on?
Have you tried charging your phone via AC power supply? Could be a problem with the USB cable when charging directly from laptop/computer. Moreso , if the regural charger doesnt manage to solve this , try replacing it.
My hunch is it could be a hardware problem. If all fails , go to a service center for a diagnosis. You could end up buying a new PSU.
Software issue? Try flashing a new ROM; find a clean one on the forum , could be a solution.
I did encounter this problem after i tried to flash my headset with a W6.5 ROM. Did not charge from computer/laptop , but charged from AC power supply.
After i returned to a simple , clean ROM , the problem dissapeared...

Phone allowing rotation on home screen/speaker phone always on

My stock rom M8 is answering and making calls in speaker mode all the time. Also, the home screen is allowed to rotate. I've read a bit about some other phones having this issue caused by a bad USB port. Has anyone reported issues like this with the M8? Plug in a USB cable and it's back to normal. The USB cable doesn't even have to be connected to anything on the other end for this to work. Unplug the USB and the screen comes on a couple seconds later with the issues back again. I'm hoping someone can tell me I don't have to replace my USB port to get it fixed.
Phone info:
Stock Sprint rom
Running ART (changed animation scales down to .5)
Only using 10B of 32GB of phone storage and 10.5GB of a 32GB SD
Factory reset the phone and it didn't fix
Using Tasker for managing Ringer profiles and mobile data connection
Chrome installed and updated
All phone updates are updated
Always use HTC charger and charging cord
Phone is babied (It sits in a case on a microfiber cloth on my desk at work )
HELP! My ears can't take anymore of the auto speaker mode.

It looks like your phone thinks its always on "Car Mode". Some cleaning of the usb connector might be able to fix it.
There is an extra pin in the phone usb connector that detects when its connected to car dock, desktop craddle or in usb host mode.if something is bridging it to the ground pin, this can happen.

I cleaned it with part of a Q-tip and some glass cleaner, then probed around in there with a needle. Nothing looked dirty. I ran a usb cable in and out a few times to see if it would work something out of the way. I'm leaving it dry out now (just in case it's a little moist) and we'll see what happens.

I spoke to HTC and our last resort before sending it in is to re-flash the stock Sprint RUU. Are there instructions on that somewhere? Or, is it better to just root now that it's somewhat busted?

[HELP ME] S3 mini smartphone that no longer lights up (bricked?) - JTAG

Hello forum! I own a smartphone S3 mini model GT-i8190n with rom stock, root, recovery cwm and usb debugging disabled (I think).
Because of a problem with the battery I was restarting myself very often during the boot and I was forced to keep it constantly on charge ...
The other day ago to reboot but does not start and does not turn on any more, not making time to receive the new battery.
So far I tried to turn it on in all ways, including recovery and download mode, but nothing. Connecting it to the PC via USB I get a new device called U8500 USB ROM, but it connects and disconnects indefinitely and fails to install the drivers.
Could I try some solutions in this way?
I've heard of Jtag to unlock the phone and a particular image debrick.img, but I would absolutely not format anything, nor lose any data, just reactivate the bootloader.
Can I have some information on this method (steps to perform, necessary material, etc.) and if I format the phone? Is any of you able to perform this procedure by the right means?
I apologize if I have violated any rule of the regulation, in which case I will reserve the right to modify the post.
Please help me to solve ... for me it is very important!
Thanks to all those who will respond !!

I hope so, but the symptoms it presents (both during the charge, which does not happen, that connecting it to the PC), do not think anything good ...
Now replace the battery, but does not want to wake up. Please help me to solve the problem with other solutions. I do not want to throw the phone.:crying::crying:

Does the Led on the screen turn on if you connected your phone to Usb-charger?
If not, there could be a problem with mainboard or LCD.
If yes, could be a problem with LCD.
It is not conducive for a long lifetime to use the device often during the charching.

This smartphone has not any status LEDs.
Now if it is charging does not give any sign of life.
So I assume it is "dead" and the only way to try to resurrect it is through jtag. Correct? Someone who can recommend me something in this way?

Are you sure that the Usb-port works?
Did you try a full charged battery?
