[Q] Root with no PC - bricked! Help please! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have used the way on this link cursed4eva.com/root-galaxy-note.
SuperSU has been instaled sucesfully but after reboot there was no SuperSU icon.
Then I have user the 1B option on XDA: PS : If you can't see superSU after flashing above file(sometimes happen if there is too low space like in LQ3 ROM, then use this Root_superSU, followed by same above Root_busybox file.
I have put the Root_superSU into the root and have reboot into recovery but after reboot there was some warning about change of something (have fortotten what was written:silly I have confirmed it and now (allready over 40 minutes) on the screen is standing:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-N7000
Custom binary download: NO
Current binary: Samsung official
Downloading...
Do not turn off target!!
What should I do now?
Help please!

hold the power button till the screen turns off and then press power again. Check what happens the phone should boot
---------- Post added at 02:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:58 AM ----------
if not then remove the battery wait for 10 secs and reinsert. boot again

Go to original android subforum, get Philz stock kernel and flash that via recovery (read the instructions)
If you cannot go to recovery and is stuck at download mode, get a stock GB rom from Dr. Ketan's thread and flash via pc odin.
Hope you did not get bricked using that temp cwm and su files.

Good morning!
I have done it (the power off), and it has booted.
But many of the application icons are gray/black!?
What now?
Which is the next step? How to become again the colored icons and how to root?

EDIT: the gray/black icons are now in color, it seems that I have looked them before the Note has total booted.
The SuperSU app error: We have a problem! There is no binary SU instaled and SuperSU can not install it!
Which is the next step?
I will only to Root my Note without changing of official ICS/ROM/kernel, at this moment.
At least until I have more experience with Android. I'm using Android device for the first time.

go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
download a kernel that matches ur ROM, reboot into recovery, install zip from SD, choose the downloaded file and install. Thats it really,
u will get root, CWM and safe kernel.

I don't see your version XXLPT / LQ3 under Philz kernel.
Try to update your stock rom first to those available under Philz Kernel.
Then you can flash Philz Kernel and get rooted immediately after flashing his kernel.
Good Luck!

Hi,
So you suggest that I should do the dr. Ketan's "1A.Root + safe kernel + advance recovery"?
Can I make it reverse - go back to the stock ROM/kernel if the Note must go to service, I do not want to loose guarantee.
How?
Where I can find stock ROM/kernel?
I have seen that there is noo XXLPT/LQ3 kernel.
Now I am confused what should I do. Which kernel from the list is suitable?
Step by step explanation/tutorial for a noob please!

then use Dr ketans rooting method.

yes u can. u need to flash the stock rom using pc odin or use mobile odin and select the rom in the kernel field.

Yeah. Philz kernel starts from 4.0.4 I think.
If you want the easiest way, and at the same time to get the latest firmware, go to the link given by nokiamodeln91.
Download either one of this :
N7000XXLRT---4.0.4/12.09.07-N7000DBTLRT---Download---Germany
N7000DDLR9---4.0.4/12.09.12-N7000ODDLR3---Download--India
That's the last 2 firmware from Samsung.
Download it, and flash it from ODIN PC (On the same thread by dr. Ketan, you can find also on how to install it by ODIN PC).
Once you are done, you may go back to Philz kernel thread, and choose the kernel.
If you flash the XXLRT, you can download : PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRT-DBT-v2.7
If you flash the DDLR9, you can download : PhilZ-cwm6-DDLR9-INU-v2.7
and put it under your phone (external sd).
You may flash Philz kernel with your stock recovery. Just go to recovery, and apply update from zip file.
That's it. You will get root + safe kernel (safe from brick) + CWM v6.
By doing this, you won't get triangle. And you will get root, and also you will be on the safe state free of eMMC brick bug.
To go back to stock (if you intend to send for service), you can just flash back the original firmware. Everything will be back to normal (no root, stock kernel, stock firmware).
Please note :
DO NOT DO any wipe data until you get into PHilz Kernel.
OR :
if you don't want to go the hassle of upgrading firmware, and still want to stick to what you have now, you may refer to Philz kernel thread, and read post #6 (by dr. Ketan).
You can request your firmware installed on your device, and just wait for Philz to modified and put on the OP.
(but this takes time, you can't force him to modified for you on the spot)
Good luck!

You can flash CF Root with Odin on your pc but that will increase the flash counter and show a yellow triangle when booting. Or as Vampireblood above already stated buy Mobile Odin Pro from the playstore and flash it with that app.

Then flash firmware, select wipe cache.

Just read around the corner before you flash anything. If you have not flashed anything till now than read everything and ask before you take any step.
I know I am being in troubles...
Just read twice our thrice before you flash and if you encounter anything ask instant before you brick..
Have a happy flashing...

1. Use PC Odin and flash SpeedMod or Notecore... (I would prefer speedmod though)
2. Your phone will reboot after, and you will know immediately if your rooted if you have the yellow exclamation point on the boot screen.
3. To remove the yellow exclamation point, download and run TriangleAway.apk and you should be good to go after that.

Triangle away must only be used as a last resort!
@OP read DR.K's thread and install CMW then download one of the safe kernal (Emmc removed kernal like notecore or speedmod) and flash it.

you don't get my point bud, but I respect you on it.
the fact that the OP is in 4.0.4 means he is in CWM already(not CMW you say). I indicated he should flash Speedmod am I right? so what point of my instruction is not clear to you??
P.S. yeah you can skip my #3 instruction(on TriangleAway) if you like seeing the Yellow triangle icon everytime you boot up your phone. There's no problem with that!

let me tell you, I think you did not get my point and even the OP's point I think.
Everytime you flash a ROM, let's go with Stock okay?.. GB-ICS 4.0.3- ICS4.0.4.. CWM is always a part of it.
The fact that the O.P. is already in 4.0.4 ICS means to say he has CWM already on his phone. Now the integral part on my instruction (if you look back to read it), First, flash a safe kernel like Speedmod using PC ODIN.
Of course, you will get that yellow exclamation after flashing the kernel(the phone's rooted already). Only way you can clear that out is to use Triangle Away.. That's my whole point here.
What's with CWM by the way? your the one bringing it up in the first place.
@Letters-to-cleo
I think some misunderstanding, you both are right. You had PM.
@ravi
I think lettwr-to-cleo referring cwm, is about stock recovery.

[Q] Extremly Confused. Uprade from GB to ICS

My friend asked me to root his Galaxy Note and I am afraid to hardbrick it. I read many threads regarding the processes involved.
He is running unrooted GB 2.3.6 with Kernel JPKK2. I want to upgrade to either Allaince or Criskelo.
If I'm not mistaken, here are the steps just to be sure. Please someone tell me if I'm missing something:
1. Root using post 2 / part 2 with kernel KK2 here.
2. Flash ICS repack by chainfire using mobile ODIN (I read that it is not necessary anymore. Is that true? Can I skip it? If yes, should I flash the new ROM using ODIN or recovery from step 1? I don't want to increase the binary counter.)
3. Reboot to recovery and wipe data/ cache/ dalvik
4. Flash the new ROM and wipe cache / dalvik again
I also read that I shouldn't change the kernel and keep it CF-Root. But Alliance has Ficetos NoteCore ICS 1.0 and Criskelo CF-Root LRG.
Can I use CWM that comes after rooting in part 1 to Nandroid backup the GB room? Same question for the new ROM (backup using the recovery of the specific ROM).
If I'm not mistaken, somewhere, someone said that CWM should not be used to do anything other that flash firmware or it will hardbrick the phone.
That's why I'm confused.
Thank god I own a Samsung Galaxy S2. I can flash anything I want.

Really struggling with updating to Jelly Bean

I am a complete noob with this kind of thing so please excuse the stupidity. I have searched this site for hours but I just don't understand enough to make sense of the advice
I was running 2.3.3 on my Galaxy S GT-i9000 and I mananged to update it to 2.3.6 and it was saying i9000XXJVU (i think!)
However, then I tried to root it and the boot screen was just stuck on loop so I tried to flash the phone and now it is working again but saying the baseband version in i9000xxjvt and the build number is gingerbread.xwjvz...
I have no idea what any of this means but it seems I need the correct version to update to Jelly Bean properly...? Could anybody point me in the right direction? I'm scared of breaking it again :silly:
Is it ok to just go ahead and try updating at at this point or is there anything left to do beforehand? Also, if anybody could point me in the exact direction for the update I would really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance

[Q] stuck at samsung load screen after flashing PhilZ-cwm6

Hi,
I've just upgraded my Galaxy Note N7000 to stock JB ROM via Kies. The current version now is: N7000DDLSC. After upgrading, I wanted to move to Phil's Kernel, so I downloaded Phil's safe Kernel " DDLSC-ODD" .
However, after flashing Phil's kernel via recovery, my phone is stuck at Samsung's logo. I booted into recovery and can see touch GUI,so Phil's kernal is installed butwhen the phone is turned on it is stuck at samsung logo and I cannot proceed ahead. Once or twice the phone booted but was stuck at lock screen and then restarted again and got stuck at samsung logo again.
Can you please help me out???

Yes, I followed the method correctly. I downloaded the official JB rom yesterday and flashed it using PC Odin. For the time being I am back on official JB ROM and kernel, but want to know if it is safe to flash Phil's kernel or any other JB Kernel ?
Try flashing it again...follow instructions step by step... You shouldn't have that issue.... If it continues you can try a factory reset from Philz recovery
Of it still happens post back here for more helo

Not every safe kernal is compatible try to flash philz kernal wif the correct one then using ur external sdcard is better n safe on a phone rather then using pc odin. after u successfully flashed the right kernal n ur phone can start up normally then u can try other kernal as well.
once u flash to a different safe kernal try to make use of the safe kernal function to reboot recovery or reboot system now n update kernal need few mins to update if still stuck on N7000 logo then just go back to recovery n flash back the working kernal.
so far i don't see flashing different kernal is smooth so no point. as philz already mention that the kernal is base on rom built.

Put the previously downloaded*xxx-signed.zip*file on your*external*sd card
Boot into stock recovery*(volume up+home+power)
Select*"apply update from external storage".
Now select the*xxx-signed.zip*file
You are rooted + new PhilZ-cwm6 kernel
