Hi all.
I installed last summer to my Eee PC running Android x86 (not anymore) from Play Store a application what was "Stuff Pick" or "Editors choice" for tablets but I can not remember its name.
It does not exist at all in my Play Store account informations that I would have installed it and because I don't have netbook anymore running that installation, I can not even copy it.
- It was a hand drawn comic what scrolled from top to down, continually revealing new parts of story when scrolling smoothly down.
- It was a free but possible to donate to author from every episode and if he got enough donations, he continued drawing the story.
- It was story of a boy what in first chapter went to his grandma farm, where he had secret room in the house.
Did anyone catch it as well or remember name of that?
It was not so nice to read by using touchpad, so now when I got a tablet I would like to get it and even donate for the author of big work.
I think if it's no longer in your app list then it's not on the Play Store any more. I'm not 100% sure. but I'm about 99% sure that's what it means.

Yes, that is what it usually means. But if I remember correctly, it was available from author site as well. Just needing to know the name so I can track what happened.

Try and remember some more specific details about the story and google for it. That's the only thing I can suggest. If you do find it though, post back here and let us know. I'd like to have a look at it myself

I have tried to google it with all what I can remember. Searching trough Google image searches, different Android app review sites...
If I just wouldn't have formatted the drive where that Android installation was...
I just hate myself that I don't remember name or Play store does not have anything about it anymore. At that time I hated it was not available for smartphones but only for tablets but luckily I had installed Android few days before so I could peek it.
My last hope seems to be someone else remembers it name.

I've been looking for something like this but this one only has the Touch Diamond listed as compatible.

Has anyone seen anything else like this out there?
There's a chance we may be able to make the app work with your phone. Please drop me a line at support AT salling DOT com, and I'll see what we can do, okay?
Best.

this doesn't work for me. I am running a mac with OS X 10.4.11. I installed the trial version and plug in my sprint touch diamond and nothing happens. A window never opens and the icon in the tool bar stays black. Any help?
Not impressed!
OK, Let me just start by saying that I'm not normally a big whiney baby. But, I'm gonna whine about this! LOL
I went to the homepage of Salling Softare and it clearly states that the software is "completely free for basic use." I downloaded it and ran the installer. I happen to be one of those weird people who actually reads the license agreement. LOL
Anyway, the license agreement clearly states that it is strictly a trial version and that after a period of time I will be required to purchase an activation code.
It's not that I mind paying for software but it really ticked me off that the web page said one thing and the license agreement said another. (I would have been happy to try it and buy it if they'd just been honest about it on the homepage rather than using the 'free' software teaser.) I cancelled the installation and won't be using it. grrrr!
Sorry for more off topic than the topic,.
hei bizzylizzy, i like your signature ! thats cool anyway,.
missbizzylizzy,
That's just a slight error in the legal agreement. There's no trial timeout in the actual software, and I promise I won't force or coerce anyone to buy the software, if they don't want to do so.
I might as well plug version 1.0.2 that was just released. There's improved support for HTC TouchFLO 3D devices (playlist are now transferred to the device in a format supported by the HTC player) and audio track metadata is "massaged" in a way that streamlines browsing on the device and also improves the album artwork experience.
Best.

Our favourite site? Some people believe dev's should be paid for their work...
You're gonna get in trouble for this.
Damn right... if you want an app bad enough, you should pay the dev who made it for you!
How do you guys know that he is talking about pirated apps? He didn't say anything about that in his post.
BUT
If you are talking about pirated apps then really dude? Come on, most are a couple cents or a couple dollars tops which is a great price for all the that devs time and helps to insure that you get more updates and maybe more apps from him/her. Skip the restaurant that day and eat home and you can buy a couple apps that you'll get enjoyment out of a lot longer than that food. Just my opinion...
some people don't have credit cards or debit cards... Regardless I believe in supporting devs any way possible. ;] ;] ;]
I'm not going to criticize the guy because I can't say I've never "downloaded" an app for my PC or anything like that.
However, you should always have a look with android. It's "different" if you don't have money to pay for an app then the majority of the time you can find a similar one for free which does exactly the same thing. I find in a lot of cases Developers have a "free version" which is ad supported, that doesn't bother me and I just pick the free version.

Thats why u use Market Enabler....lol
Why's everyone so quick to hate on this guy, he just asked if there was a site where he could download android applications. Never said anything about pirated ones.
AndroidAppDeck yes had some pirated applications, but they also had free ones on their page as well.
As Daneshm90 mentioned, you might wanna search for the Market Enabler. If thats not an option there are sites like www.anda.pk that has a handful of apps you can D/L to your PC and install on your phone. If I come across any others I'll let you know.
So how about we actually answer this guys question and point him towards a legitimate solution rather than play finger pointer.
However as a developer myself (not of android), I will say if youre looking for pirated apps dont bother asking here.
there is this saying if you cant buy it...you dont need..lol
blapk Market and applanet
It´s open, called blapk market, now: blapkmarket(dot)com (they ask for a registration, takes a couple of days to approve)
Also there´s the applanet that don´t need registration, works better and has the same interface as the original Market app: applanet(dot)net/applanet
I have both, in case i can´t find an app in one i look into the other one.
PS.: Support the developers, if you download a paid app from there contact the developer to find a way to compensate him for his work. (they use to accept off-market payment)
If you don't already know google released a ADC2 app to download submitted apps and review/rate them. Anyone get any good apps from it?

If you "could care less", why are you not taking part? Oh.. because you mean "couldn't care less".
Yeah what happened to Cyanogen sucks, but I wish everyone would stop acting so childish about it. He was wrong. End of story. Move on with life. It's not like it's really that difficult to get the things back in anyway.
I've been judging apps for this all day. Come by a few good ones but most are not that original really. I've been checking the ADC2 website every day waiting for them to announce the judging app release. Can't believe it's out and they didn't even post it on there.

This perversion of the popular axiom irritates the hell out of me too.
Anyway, has anyone actually been issued any decent apps for review? I saw an ADC2 version of Spreadsheet and that's about it. Kinda disappointed in the deluge of kinda 'meh' apps.
Let's keep this thread on topic.
Both of you look slow, because I SAID I could care less, and I MEANT what I said. Never said I wasn't going to compete.
@g1-evolve stop jackin the thread
I haven't gotten a single good app. In fact they are all crap.

I uninstalled it after a few days. Nothing good came across. Extremely disappointing. That seems to be the trend this week.
I got Ping2Locate, which was kind of cool but not really original. That's the best of what I received so far. There was a book library but the scanner just continually took pictures until it found a bar code rather than waiting until one was present in the way BCScanner & ShopSavvy do.
Then there was the endless stream of crap.
One of the most pointless I got was this "unique new media interface". Sounded exciting. It actually turned out to be almost insulting, considering the prize money on offer. It was 4 images taking up a quater of the screen each. One was a season. Pressing changed the image to represent a different season. Another one (I can't even remember what the image was) began to play music and spin the images around. The other two were labelled "M" and "V" which just looked on your SD card for music or video.
Seems like I would have had a good chance at winning if I'd just submitted Hello World.
I guess now I know why they never bothered to announce on the ADC2 site that the judging app was available...

I would have voted it all 5's considering the crap we were seeing.
There're some good apps in there, come on !
I run PrankDialer.com, and have an app in the ADC2 running right now - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rFJDnXw4Ew
Yeah, I was using it since sunday, hoping that I'd be able to try some really exciting apps.
Instead I got loads of junk apps, games, even one who's description was 'create user table'. I'm hoping that in the later rounds that they will have been filtered out.
Odd question but does anyone know how to trick the nook into thinking it is in a Barnes and Noble. I'm not quite sure how the instore wifi is set up but if I could reproduce it at home then I could use the read instore to try out books with out leaving the house. Any ideas?
No, you can't. You have to be connected to their router.
BTW, your other post said you work for B&N. Why are you asking us?
Wow I think I only made one post before and you bring up something I don't remember saying from what would have been 8 or 9 months ago. At any rate I never had access to the router. I wasn't IT(not to mention ATT handles that.) At any rate it still seems like one could mimic the settings of the B&N Store access point so that the nook would think that it was in a store.

The settings are in the router, not the Nook. The store has software tracking who is logged in and for how long.
Yes of of course the settings are in the "router." Well most of them. The nook itself is programmed to respond a certain way to those settings or configuration. The trick is to find out what the settings are so that I can reproduce them which is the whole point of me asking the bleeding question. You keep saying the same thing which is so obvious that it shouldn't even be mentioned!
The router is running special software that you need to access b and n's database. If your router doesn't have it then it won't work. Without the router logged into the database you can do all the tricks you want but your never getting access. Also all the books might be stored on a local intranet which is very difficult to access

The book is the same as the books I buy, same key and everything except it has a time limit built in which locks it after a hour. The nook is programmed to purge certain files after about an hour though. As far as special "software" I will have to look into it. What brand hardware they are using, Mac address, SSID(which it appears they don't broadcast,) etc. It doesn't seem like "software" is the answer and there is no local DB onsite. LATER!
Most likely, when the Nook sees it's on the B&N wifi network, it authenticates itself to a server behind a B&N firewall that's only accessible from the B&N store network. You can't get to that server from the internet, so "tricking" your Nook by setting up your home wifi to use the B&N SSID won't do anything. It'll try to authenticate to the server, fail, and you won't get the access you're trying to obtain.
already thought of that. was going to dig through some of the files on the nook to force the "switch" to be turned on for instore but then relised that i don't really care that much. was an interesting idea...

I still don't think you're getting it. It doesn't matter what your Nook thinks. The B&N servers won't give you free books for an hour if you're not authenticated through their wifi network. The only way to get the free books is for your Nook to exchange credentials with those servers, and you can't access those servers from outside the B&N network.
You can tell a bouncer at an exclusive party that you're an important famous guy, but if your name isn't on the guest list, he's not going to let you in. Your Nook doesn't control the guest list, B&N's servers do.
I think he gets it now.....
No, everyone is not saying the same thing as you. It's just you. So far all you are doing is NOT getting how things work behind the scenes and yet still fell the need to say something(anything) so that you feel like you contributed to the conversation. Well guess what you did. It just wasn't helpful.
---------- Post added at 07:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ----------
First of all you can take your sanctimonious attitude and shove it. Where do you get off... Secondly, THERE IS NO bouncer! There is No VIP room! There is NO flippin' guest list. Your analogy makes absolutely no sense! What the nook can see is dependent on several things but things can always be spoofed, changed or otherwise circumvented. As for the "B&N servers," it's the same server for everyone. It doesn't have special areas for people who happen to be instore. I would explain further how the B&N site(and yes it's just a part of bn.com) but really what's the point. You won't get it. Now if there is someone here that works for barnes and noble IT, someone who knows the ins-and-outs of how the nook downloads books, gains access to the instore content and so on please fell free to educate "Skunkeye." If you don't work for B&N in some sort of website/IT/tech side of the things then please don't post. This conversation doesn't really need to limp on without and reasonable answer or ideas.
And thirdly, I asked a simple question to which the answer wasn't really that important to me in the first place. I expected the question to be ignored but I didn't expect this kind of attitude for no reason. It doesn't matter The answer to the question that I posed really doesn't matter but if you dare talk to me like that again "I will hunt you down and hobble both your legs right above the knees."
See ya, I'm bored now.
Dude, its not going to happen unless you talk tot the guy who set up the system and get him to tell you to exactly how it works. No one here has that information.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned it but what he wants to do is theft. Even if the books are only trials, he's still stealing them, not to mention the proprietary systems he would have to have to get the books.

Yes, it has indeed.
The "Couldn't find it in a search" Dungeons and Dragons Thread (Well, table games)
Apologies ahead of time if this is already a thing, I gave a good search through off topic and couldn't find anything save for "what game are you playing?," which is a tad different.
Anyone do any table RPGs and/or would be interested in maybe getting something going over IRC/Skype/Insert Chat Client Here? Also, post RPG stories, experiences, preferences, and all that jazz. Nothing beats a good story about a critical fumble and a tarrasque.

You old enough to remember a comic store one street west of fry between hickory and oak. They had a d&d table with character models they'd play with.
No, I've only been in Denton since 2009.
Also. Entertaining app. I may play the "make things up for myself to do at work" game with it shortly.
Edit 2: Also, I know I've tried to go to that store. I'm pretty sure it still shows up on a google mapping for comic shops. You get to the address and it's some abandoned storefront.
O ok. And this is how to get a group playing at the same time online.

That's definitely an option. I think I've used hang out twice? If I can find the one I used to use, there's a program (well, several) that's actually designed for online RPG play.

Not really the same thing, but I used to love the "choose your own adventure" books. Whilst looking for an app I found this...
http://www.choiceofgames.com/
I had a love hate relationship with those. I would always read them, but 1) I would always find some way to kill off whoever's adventure I was choosing, and 2) I would never remember the steps I took to get to that point. Needless to say, I have killed hundreds of young potential football stars in bus crashes as a child.

I remember beaming down to a planet and becoming fused with some rock. Most unpleasant!
Yeah. Maybe it was just me, but I feel they sometimes initiated the Improbability Drive in some of those books. Now that I've thought on it, I have killed a lot of innocent people in my adventures. And all I wanted to do was go to the grocery store in that one. Also, that app is pretty cool. I haven't tried it, I just read through the site. Definitely a good time kill at the very least.
