Since M$ is taking their sweet @$$ time releasing Deepfish I started looking for a Web Browser that acted like the iPhone. My search resulted with this video . Like what you see? then use this file to make it a reality.
Just a quick note, this program doesn't do an auto connect to your data connection if it's not currently active. You'll have to activate it manually form the Connections Tab under "Settings."
I think it's called Picsel Browser...

Well don't tell my Wing that, because it thinks it's a Samsung!
And it's illegal to share that file since it's considered in "Warez" category.
(Like i care, i've every kind of "warez" installed, hehe)

Is it really? What's the difference between this file (which isn't available as a stand alone product for sale) and all the other things that gets posted on here? I'm not arguing with you, I just want to know for sure what constitutes as warez and what doesn't.
can't wait to try this. They should sell this it looks pretty nice. Sad they are only into licensing to specific companies.
I installed it and Im getting an error message that says Unable to connect to the server. Anybody else have any issues?
Works perfectly on my p4350 with TouchFlo 1.1 on it.
Official Wing testing will be conducted t-minus 45 minutes
Allright. Works perfect on my wing.
Running Touchflo 1.1.

Well, correct me if i'm wrong but as much as i know, distribution of this program is not legal since it's a products specially coded for/by Samsung. Picsel Browser is not being distributed freely, is it? So, sharing this program is illegal which puts this program in to "warez" status. It's not that a software is warez only when you share a crack or serial along with the release.
As the definition says:
Warez is a derivative for the plural form of the word "software" meaning copyrighted material traded in violation of its copyright license. The term generally refers to releases by organized groups, as opposed to peer-to-peer file sharing between friends or large groups of people with similar interest using a Darknet. It normally does not refer to commercial for-profit piracy.

Therefore, sharing this software makes it "warez" since we're violating it's copyright rules.
This is my humble opinion about the matter.
this is a nice program but since development of this program has not been extended to cover windows mobile there are many problems with this browser. My biggest issue with this application when I initially tried it a while back was that it had trouble with forms and authenticating web pages, made it quite difficult to log into some sites. Used as a pdf reader, picture viewer, browsing blogs, and viewing various files it is quite a remarkable program considering how long ago it came out. Would definately sign a petition to get this up and running again...
Definitely a neat program! It works fast and convenient. It's true that a lot of html gets screwed up, forms and frames and scripts won't always run as they're supposed to but.. I don't think microsofts standard mobile solution in wm6 is much better on that front. This thing makes webbrowsing fun on mobile phones, I can't say that for Pocket IE.
I do however get this cube thing all the time while playing with sites and images.. strangest thing ever

Yeah, the problem there is that this web browser doesn't do an auto connect to your data service. You'll have to launch it manually (Start Menu-Settings-Connections Tab-Connections-Manage Connections-then highlight your data connection and select connect). Hope this helps

Running it on an 8125 (Wizard) WM5. App over all works great but man is it a ram memory hog. I can start with 15 or 17 mb and after a few minutes of searching the web I am getting messages say to free up some memory so it can proceed. I check it in settings and I am down to 1 or 2%. WOW!! No other programs running in the task manager. Great program just wish it didn't suck the resources dry.....

btw. great way for panning and scanning pictures, just wish file browser had thumbnails.

Just called the HTC tech support.
I told them that I had a problem with playing video using Windows Media Player 10. The person on the phone said you could try updating your Windows Media Player 10 to Windows Media Player 11 (11 for mobile???). I told her that 11 is for computer and not mobile. Then she told me it could be a codec issue. I told her: I've downloaded Core Media Player with all the codecs but still have the problem. Then she asked me what type of files I tried to play. I said: WMV, MPG, MPEG, MP4, AVI. Then she putted me on hold to ask someone there if they knew something about the TyTN II video issue. After waiting for 2 mins she said: HTC does know about the video issue and there working on it. The drivers would be released in end of Januari/begin of Februari, she advised me to check the update page every day till the update is released. Meanwhile use a other third party software to play videos.
So actually HTC is working on the video drivers. If she tells me it's a update, I think the driver will be available as a cab file instead of new ROM. But what if it was a cab file?? What about the HTC cube then??? In a interview, a person from HTC told that the TyTN II will get a update wich includes the HTC cube :S
What ya think??
The funny thing about this is that I had to learn her instead of she learning me. HAHAHAH that's how good the HTC tech support is. HAHAHAHA
Do you think they will release a new driver? I think if they will release it they will reply to all who were trying to get the driver from them, and stop the bad publicity.
I dont know what to think anymore. HTC disappointed me alot. You buy a expensive mobile and they fool you..
We will wait and see..

Maybe some people could call other countries HTC support and try to get this confirmed? Then at least we know what the hell is going on (save me the time of tinkering, save Olipro and cmonex the time, save 50 people the money, etc)

It wouldn't make me not-trust her. She is just some phone answering noob most likely, who doesn't really know a lot about the platform (just the standard question and replies) - as is very common for these support lines. Apparently she asked someone else (second ring support) and they probably told her "we're working on it, release begin februari" and she probably just combined this with her own 'knowledge' that you use CABs to install things.
That's how these things go at support lines
I hope you are right, and in february they will heal our toy.
Called swedish tech support.
At first when I stated that it doesn't play video properly he said "yeah but what do you want me to do about that?!".
Then he said I should return it for a new set at my reseller.
Then I said that I've seen numerous (hundereds if not thousands) of people having the same problem and I gave him the adress to the petitiononline site.
He put me on hold for quite a while and spoke to second teir support.
He said HTC are not generally aware of this problem and though they'vre heard some few reports it was too few to make it a high class priority. He said that he showed the petition to the support technician and that he was caught totally unaware.
I got to talk to the second technician and he understood the problem after a while.
He said that he would escalate the problem to high priority for Europes tech support and if they could indeed show in their own tests that the TyTN II performs considerably worse than previous or competing products they would work hard to get a fixed ROM out as soon as possible.
He also asked me to tell other people with the same problems to call their local support.
They really need support calls in order to escalate a problem report into high class priority.
So what are you waiting for, go make that call now!
Ignorant half-assed HTC customer service

Having had bitter experience with HTC support, I'm pretty confident that you shouldn't be getting your hopes up. You have to understand that these people, as a rule, want to get you off the phone to go on playing solitaire or browsing porn.
This means that they are ready and willing to tell you anything. In this case, they obviously know that there is a WM6.1 update coming up and they "sell" to you that it should miraculously solve any problems, including the "known video driver" problems which, btw, they've never heard of before in their life. They would say the same thing about any irrelevant upcoming updates. That's typical of the incompetent and half-assed manner they deal with their customers.
Remember, these are the same people who will, after 2 months (!?!) (I'm not exaggerating, this actually happened to me), answer "have you tried to hard reset your device?" to any f****** e-mail you send them, even when you have clearly stated in that e-mail that you have done a hard reset about 100 times. That's how much attention you can expect.
I sincerely hope that HTC goes down big time to make an example of how a company charging such high margins on its products and at the same time mocking its customers can never survive (and it really shouldn't).

A known person tell's there is going to be a update soon + A support worker tells me there is going to be a update soon (in Januari) + TMCP Player fixes a update what should fix the video (in Januari) = SOON NEW DRIVERS. Hmm... the more I know about Kaiser the more it looks like the phone part is just a bonus to the PDA instead of an integrating part of it.
It's really sad, because my phone also has 2 processors like the Kaiser, one for phone and one for PDA, and it works great for calls and stuff. The recorded conversations have really good quality. And you just need to press the recorder/voice dial button to start/stop recording.
Well, but I still rarely use my phone as a phone, so I don't think that's gonna be an issue.
Thanks for the info though.

Anyone else confused? I think I'd rather put my faith behind Chainfire et al here at XDA-devs. They might not be able to overcome the problem in the end, but at least they keep us informed, seem to know what eachother is doing and generally inspire more confidence than H(oard)T(he)C(ash)
http://life.tweakers.net/nieuws/51901/htc-directeur-belooft-drivers-voor-geplaagde-toestellen.html
On a dutch website the headline says "HTC president promises new drivers for plaged devices"
In short english .... Driver was not implemented because HTC needed to pay for the driver. They tried to program it themselves but its seams they will now pay for the driver with Qualcomm . The driver should be avaiable at the end of march ..... Its not yet know for what devices though.
Lets wait and see and hope
Time will tell...
We know. if you have been looking at htcclassaction.org then it shows that also. I think it was someone on here that got the email saying that and he told Chainfire.
brilliant news.
Do we think that the user is going to end up paying for the driver then?
This makes me glad I held onto my Tilt. I can't wait to knock the dust off it & fire up with the new drivers.

I doubt it, and if they do I expect one person will buy it and then they'll be put into a new ROM for all to use.
I've contacted T-Mobile about it asking to get in touch with HTC and see how they plan to distribute it.
WOW
That a marvelous news..cant wait..
so its mean our TyTn II will be the best phone ever after that..
Just keep your guard up, if this doesn't turn out to work and the CEO is just pulling us or this is fake, then dont whine and complain.
I'm itching to buy one of these phones as an upgrade to my aging Vario (Wizard) but I'm still going to hold off pending confirmation of this great news from an official source at HTC. Once I know they are really going to address this issue then I'll be happy to buy now and put up with the current poor display performance (which I observed first-hand in the store) until the drivers are released. Hopefully someone like chainfire will be able to confirm this for us soon.
Andre
Great ****ing news! I want to be optimistic about, and celebrate HTC when they come through at the end of March.
Actually, there's a new ROM out today. I wonder if there's a surprise in it.
Hi
The problem with this is that it is in no way official and until it is made official by an announcement on the HTC website it's nothing more than viral marketing.
It there were any truth in it HTC would be all too keen to shout it from their website surely?
Until it is made official from HTC this "email" is either some strange hoax or a deliberate fabrication from HTC PR marketing.
The HTC Class action site should not be falling for it and giving it publicity. If the chief executive really wanted to reassure his customer's it would be official on the HTC website. To think he would email personally to one particular person making claims of a forthcoming fix is quite frankly very unbelievable!
As to checking the email for correct SMTP headers etc, it takes nothing to fabricate those, it is only a text document after all that can be edited at will!

Phil

I don't think so. Please, check the coming SonyEricsson XPERIA X1:
Screen of 800x400 !!!
Hardware acceleration (supported with drivers) Being able to accelerate 3D graphics and decode HD Video!!
Windows Mobile 6.5
400MB of internal memory
MircroSDHC slot
QWERTY keyboard (slideable) with a much more robust mechanism than our Tytn II
3.2 MPX Cam... Cybershot!! (CarlZeis + Flash + 3x Optic)
Assisted GPS
Metal-case
Slim design
Less weight
Wonderful interface (iPhone beater)
And I'm prety sure, this brand will not disappoint us with such a device (I mean, we will not have surprises like... oh! I can't play videos... even the cam of the phone is useless, or it hangs up when touching the screen)
I took the decision of not let me being robbed by anyone, neither taunted by any brand. So I'll NOT buy a device from HTC never more. Instead of it, I'll inmediately buy the Sony device and put my AWUFULL tytn2 in sale...
Guys... HTC will probably NEVER officially announce that.
As I've said before in sticky thread:
1. It will confirm that there was an issue and we were right.
2. It will contradict their official statement about their "price policies" and that "Kaiser was never indended to have drivers and be a high end video-device" or whatever.
3. If something goes wrong they won't be able to backup from releasing drivers. By "something" I mean shaky Qualcomm's position, they did lose the court case and who knows what can happen with that company. And HTC as I understand will be relying on Qualcomm for drivers.
4. This publicity is not that good for them, as it will stay in people's minds that HTC is releasing devices, and drivers for them with a huge delay. Not a good marketing.
Of course, they have smart strategists working there and perhaps they will deem it profitable to release the official statement. We will just have to wait and see. But besides that - I wouldn't wait for official statement.
Oh and one more thing - chainfire updated htcclassaction.org, he says that they've analyzed smtp headers of the letter and they do look genuine. Besides that (as I udnerstand) they've sent a separate letter to Mr Chou and he confirmed that those are his emails.
CHAMPAGNE *****EZ!!!!

I just installed WMWiFiRouter (http://www.wmwifirouter.com/) trail version and liked pretty much. Would like to buy a license if someone can clarify my questions:
1- Is WMWiFiRouter Legal according to the service providers? I'm with ATT
2- Is anyone who is already using could share their reviews
3- Will ATT objects for WMWiFiRouter usage? Obviously I will be using for web browsing and not for downloads.
Thanks Folks !!
1. Wifi router would be a violation of ATT tos
2. I use wifi router daily. I havent tried the newest release but i did try v1.10 and reverted back to an older version. Sure there are new options and tools in the new versions but its slow and buggy (may take 2 or 3 atempts for connection, connection drops, takes longer to connect). I would suggest that you try version 0.91 (which is a free version). It lacks the extra options like connection security and naming your connection, but you can go to the connection itself after it has been created and name it and encode it there. version 0.91 is fast, almost never drops out, and connect right away.....oh, and again i believe its free.
3. Dont tell um : )
(just make sure to stay within their data cap.
Thanks YL Groper.
I have unlimited data plan so I wont be exceeding the data limit. Where can I get the 0.91 version? Can you share please..

WMWifiRouter is not free and if you are using a beta before Chainfire, its author and a hero to the xda community, went commercial either because that was the version availabl!e when you first got it and stuck with it or you pirate it, you are doing so against the wishes of the author. Maybe not the law, but the author.
So either pay up, beg for his permission on irc, live without it or live in sin.
That aside, when Time Warner cut me off I spent three weeks bootlegging ... copies of Debian Linux like it was my job and AT&T didn't break my balls about the many gigs of bandwidth -- perhaps because they'd make more money by my having to buy another $45 battery shortly after.
Got this version

That looks like the 21 day [edit: cracked] demo of 1.25 (current). However, even posting the demo violates Chainfire's website's EULA which includes "You may not sell, assign, license, disclose, or otherwise transfer or make available the Software or any copies of the Software in any form to any third parties, without the written permission of Morose Media."
Sorry to be anal but for those of you who also wish to be anal or courteous, to download the trial you should go here and check off that you accept the EULA and get the cab.
If you want more information about WMWifiRouter, check out Chainfire's thread. Note that he doesn't post the cab, just the link, possibly I'd bet to keep track of how many people are downloading it and from where for marketing purposes. That's what I'd do and that may be what Chainfire is contractually obligated to do his best to make sure it happens that way. When your product, even its demo, is running in the wild, that's valuable information you're not getting that you could use to leverage yourself a better offer.
And please people, nobody post the betas in this thread, another or anywhere on the Internet. Just give out the download link, http://global.wmwifirouter.com/trial/.
Doug
Personally I think its BS that he released free versions (.91) and now tells people they can't download or use them. What a greedy SOB. We all make, build, and use software that is freeware for the reason that we share it. If you want to sell your version, go for it. But don't get a god complex and demand everyone stop using everything you've created until they pay you. Especially if you released it as freeware.

ATT has a 5GB cap on their unlimited data plans. So yeah, you have to worry about that. Just be on a heads up. A friend of mine just got hit for it, ended up with a $3,000 bill.
You got to be F'ing kidding me.
Chainfire, like many others here, started developing a program that turned out to be brilliant and invaluably useful to so many people. So he gave it out for free both to hook everybody up with something fantastic /and/ to get feedback from people on how to make it better.
But a program that turns your cell phone into, essentially, a Linksys router plugged into a cable modem is extraordinarily complex. He didn't invent the paperclip, patent it, kick back and let the royalties come in, he made something that required and still requires thousands of hours of development, something for which there is a huge market not just for our phones but Nokias and Blackberries.
So it hits the streets here first, people love it, they want more, they want more features, they want encryption, they want different ports, they want more thousands of hours out of him; suddenly it turns into a full time operation for Chainfire. Full time from the beginning as a hobby and now as a possible small career.
And then he apparently gets an offer from some kind of technologically-related venture capital outfit basically offering him a job under, of course, a lot of conditions. They market the program as aggressively as they can, sell it and give him a small cut. He takes the deal. The man did not have an infinite source of income before this (nor does he now) and this is a very rare, the only one of which I am aware, that something born on XDA is so good that it gets commercial attention.
We should all be proud of him and WMWifiRouter stands as an example of what you might be able to accomplish here if you work hard enough.
And you're going to break balls and call it bull**** that in order to use what he started for more than a trial period to figure out that it's worth far more you have to pay $30 just because it started in betas without EULAs? What kind of asshole are you?

Personally I think its BS that he released free versions (.91) and now tells people they can't download or use them. What a greedy SOB. We all make, build, and use software that is freeware for the reason that we share it. If you want to sell your version, go for it. But don't get a god complex and demand everyone stop using everything you've created until they pay you. Especially if you released it as freeware.

As much as I would like to agree with you, I can't. Many successful companies have done the same. Hell, Microsoft is doing that right now. Anyone can go download Windows 7 and get a key. Then suddenly, everyone's Windows 7 installs will be telling the users they need to buy a key! Sounds familiar, except Chainfire is just asking people to buy a license for the upgraded program. He wants a return on his investment.
He's done so much for this community, you can't cast him out and piss on his name. He's putting actual time and money into his new project and improving it. Unless he tries forcing the people using the free version into upgrading, I really don't see a problem with it.
My my, what a heated discussion!
First, to answer the original poster's questions:
1 & 3:
It is the same for all providers: you need a data plan that allows tethering. If you don't, you would be violating their terms of service. Which in turn means they could charge you extra or just terminate your phone service. If you use WMWifiRouter regularly you should by all means get a data plan that allows tethering, just to be sure. (you wont get thrown in jail, though )
2:
I obviously cannot answer that

As to some of the 'points' made here by others. You guys are clueless. I wrote a long response to explain exactly what/how, but you know what, even if I posted that, you still wouldn't understand (or try to). So I'm just going to keep it short instead.
No, you are not allowed to distribute any version of WMWifiRouter. That you didn't have to pay for the old versions is completely irrelevant to that. You were never allowed to distribute them, and with good reason. Never have I said people who were using 0.91 or older had to upgrade, or that they had to stop using it - so stop pretending I did. And if you know this and still continue to do that, it's nothing but disrespectful to the people who make the stuff you use.
You have no idea how much time goes into the development, testing and support of something like this (I spend > 60 hours a week on it and still release a lot of other things here on XDA, and I'm not the only person working on it). It was just not possible to go on with developing it without charging for it - and the current WMWifiRouter is much better because of it. Not to mention the legal stuff that went on around the time of 0.91 that cost me a bunch of money out of my own pocket - and as people hardly ever donate ....
It is not and has never been a matter of greed, it's always been a matter of finding a way to get it done. If you're big enough to complain about it, you should be big enough to simply refrain from using it altogether... Just because you are a freeloader doesn't mean I'm the bad guy here.
And btw, if you've never tried version 1.20 or up, you never really tried WMWifiRouter ...

LMAO, some people are ridiculous. Keep doing what you do Chainfire the mobility world is better for it.

I never once said you couldn't sell your software, upgrade your software, or spend time adding features. I said you were greedy for demanding all previous freeware versions removed from all sites and calling anyone who uses a freeware version a thief. 0.91 was released as freeware and as such you should have no problem with anyone sharing it or using it. You're making it sound like using 0.91 is against the law and anyone doing so must pay to use 1.25.
For the record I invest thousands of hours in coding and software as well and make plenty of money doing so. I just believe that when you release shareware or freeware, that you should understand one day you may wish to market your software and older, less featured software may still be available because YOU decided to release it early.
This is a classic case of greed. If someone wants a full featured fully working platform, make them pay for it. But if they decide they can live with your freeware, first trial public versions, then why be an ass about it? And yes, I've read about you going around demanding sites remove your previous versions, and making mods lock topics or remove links to your previous versions.
Don't you read? You were never allowed to distribute it. It said so both in the thread and the download page on the site, when the old downloads were available. Makes your complete response completely irrelevant. And again, using 0.91 is not against the law, spreading it is. Just because you didn't have to pay for it, doesn't mean you can do everything you want with it. If I had charged $0.01 for it from the start, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
As for why I'm being an 'ass' about it, is because people don't want to play by the rules I set for the software I made. That doesn't make me an ass, that makes them an ass. Perhaps if the people who know what/where/how with the old versions just kept using them silently, and stopped trying to post it everywhere all over again and get 'noobs' to use it, often on devices that aren't compatible and when they screw up turn to me for support and to fix things, perhaps then I wouldn't need to make a fuss about it, because it doesn't cost me to have them around?
Anyways, I'm done discussing this. Believe what you will, the world is full with people like you why cry when other people stop giving things away. That's greed on your part.

I am a regular user of WMWifiROuter for more than half a year now. I ofcourse purchased the software after it stopped being free. I am not going to get into the debate about the selling of the software and will limit my comments to my technical knowledge of the product.
Well, its a lifesaver for me and the two other co-workers of mine who all use my HSDPA connection to surf.
Now, that said, it is unfortunately not a 100% stable piece of software. The version that I use is 1.11, which is the last version before the total re-write. The current version (1.25) is bloated in comparison and even less stable than the "classic" versions.
So, with 1.11 I can keep a connection going for half an hour or so, then all sessions get cut, and the connection goes down. Keep hitting reload in Firefox and eventually the pages will load again, or maybe not, then the best thing to do is to stop WMWifiRouter and start it again. This is ofcourse not very cool for SSH session and other interactive tasks. For the web in general its a tolerable hassle.
Compare this to plain old Internet Sharing via the native WM 6.1 tool (via USB), which is rather stable and just runs fine more or less.
So, yes, I use the software every day, and without it I'd really be in a bind, but its fair to say its not a finished solution and unfortunately the re-write didn't help any. This is important to keep in mind if you need to do interactive work on-line.
Here's hoping they get it to run better on the Raphael. [Interestingly, on my Kaiser it ran much much more stable, but back then it was all the 1.X versions, so I can't comment how 1.2X works with a Kaiser. But who cares? On the Kaiser it works great. On the Raph, it is as I have said.]

Moderators on this forum are not MADE to do anything, threads and links are removed/locked for the good of the forum, end of story. If you believe us moderators are in someway controlled by burocracy feel free to contact the admin and air your views.
AND a word of caution to anyone else deciding to post WAREZ, we made an example in this thread already, ANYONE found posting WAREZ will be banned from the forum for a considerable term.

Thanks Zn0rt. Did you ever monitored your usage of Data Plan? I'm just concerned about ATT knowing about this. Anyways, I will be using only when I need not every time.
1- Cannot install any program on my phone such as SSH client I use for work and nothing on the market place.
2- No GPS with direction software.
3- Cannot sync my device with outlook 2010 on my computer.
4- RTL or BIDI languages show character by character and I cannot read websites in those languages.
5- Opera mobile was my choice of surfing the web but now cannot be used.
6- Not much choice of ringtones or themes.
7- I do not want to use any pirated software but this is not what I expected. I feel trapped in Microsoft powered HTC jail and am very concerned about my privacy.
The device works fast, is responsive and neat but I consider not buying HTC mobile products anymore.
wow. you just became an XDA member just to post your rants on HTC?

He's got a valid point but I wouldn't blame HTC. Those problems are on all Windows Phone 7 phones. HTC makes great phones. Buy an Android phone dude. I have the HD7 but I also kept all my Android phones I've bought over the years. My HD7 stays put away in my pocket unless the battery in my Android phone dies or I wanna watch something on Netflix and it will stay in my pocket or put away until HTC/Microsoft/T-Mobile release a MAJOR update to fix or add all the features I need in my phone. I have a feeling it will remain in my pocket for quite some time tho.

If this helps others or points htc/ms to do something, i would again register to post.
8- Battery life is real short. I read somewhere that changing the backgound to full black will improve the battery life and it does but wifi, 3g, screen light and light background are battery killers! I used to have much more battery life on my old diamond 2!

Droid phone as you mentiond do have many good points but a lot of my points also applies to phones like desire hd.
I guss it is about users againt big guys or better said being jailled by big guys. Take IPhone as an example. Microsoft mobile was the only one that was not a warden but looks like competition drives them that way. It is a shame. They just do not or do not like to think if they are good the customer will stay with them.

exactly.... nothing is perfect on birth...everything needs versions and versions...
be it software or hardware...everything will become perfect or nearly perfect in time. ( for example : windows xp was crap , then with sp2 ...BAM!!!)ok nothing else is coming to my head..but you got the idea , right ??
with updates and revised mobile bodies , any mobile can top.,..
just give HTC or MS ( or any other company ) some time for their updates, after they review all the positive negative feedback....
Although you'r a first time poster on XDA, i'm sure your familiar with Forum's in general and forum rules. The main one being READ THE STICKIES AND SEARCH BEFORE POSTING.
All of what you have said has been convered a dozen times and is also consolidated with the other "Features" which the OS is lacking in a Stickie at the top of this forum (here) AND in the WP7 Generic Forum (Here or Here).
As for some of your concerns, why are you concerned about your privacy? Please explain. The "changing the background colour to black" won't help you with an HD7, as it uses an SLCD screen, meaning no matter whether it's white or black, the backlight will still be on. This is only relevant for LED screens where a black screen means the pixels are not illuminate and therefore consuming no power (however when they're white, they consume up to 3x as much power as an LCD screen). My HD7 provides me with about 36 hours of charge, with screen brightness set to auto, and wifi/bluetooth/gsm all turned on. I could go a day and a half without a charge however i've always charged smartphones every night anyway as they all consume alot of power.
Other than that, welcome to the forum. As other's have said, the OS is only 4 months old. Give it time. The features you want will become available sooner or later.
Thanks everyone for your replies.
I know that a lot of my points are posted and discussed in other post but I thought it might be good to put them together as a sort of complaint.
Apple's IPhone mobile OS was new and I can see 3 and 4 share a lot of features. With Google you know that you will have to do syncs online. I had an idea about what he wanted and WP7 was disappointing. However I have to wait and see what will happen after MS and/or HTC work on HD7.
I have to sync my calendar and contacts with my live account and this is a huge lake of privacy in WP7.
Given the fact that I have paid for a lot of apps on my diamond 2 such as SSH client, VoIP softphone, GPS, I thought just like software on my desktop I will be able to use most of them or there will be an upgrade for my HD7 WP7.
I sit crossing my fingers and hope big guys think about users.
Windows Phone 7 is clearly not for you. Return the phone and get something else.

Unfortunately, it seems you didn't do enough research before making the jump to Windows Phone 7.
Forget about the phone hardware itself, Windows Phone 7 is a totally different platform than Windows Mobile 6.5 and below. Two totally separate products. Your complaints are not complaints because they are all issues that Microsoft is well aware of and that everyone has discussed before. This is a brand new product, and of course things won't be perfect and won't have all the features you demand.
As for the software you previously purchased, that's not a fault of Microsoft as they did not develop such software. That falls on the developers of your software. They make the decision whether to develop software compatible with Windows Phone 7, and they make the decision to offer you free upgrades or not. That is not something Microsoft can control. So regardless of the platform, when you buy software, you are at the mercy of those developers.
And in regards to your privacy and information through Windows Live, you are not required to sign in with a Windows Live ID. You can skip that part of the setup process and use the basic features of your phone. But you miss out on many of the phone's features of course. So that is totally up to you.

Hellz no! And if there was this much crying nonbody could pull steve jobs' sack out of their face long enough to show you their tears.
I understand the OP's issues... as minor as they are, but sweet Jesus it has been beat to death. Nobody needs empty praise, but the unecessary crying over what amounts to nothing, or temporary shortcomings needs to stop.
Or better yet, it could be worse. Here we're wanting a FREE software update. With apple you'll be waiting till next year to buy a whole new phone so you can get something that another phone has had for the past 5 years.
And with Android (as cool as it is) you may or may not even get the latest/greatest updates.
So... uhh, yeah... g'head and dry those tears Homie.
1. MS not release socket support right now yet til Mango update,so no any ssh apps for sure.
2. I think that from above.
3. Maybe TouchXperience can help you.
youtube.com/watch?v=aAgd-iTBlGs
4...
5. Because of no socket support, any browser must be use an IE engine to communicate web browser, so no need to use an other browser.
6. I think I see this answer in "Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking section".
7. If MS not awaking right now, we have no choice, because we know WP7 is good but not perfect yet, so MS should be hurry up.
I have HD7 too but I'm no comment it's good or not to buy.
Because bought before.. played before.
Thank you all for you posts.
Have to admit that I did not do my homework before buying a HD7.
Having said this, it is not a real excuse just to say WP7 is different to 6.5 and below. It is like you like ice-cream and try to buy one but are presented with yoghurt in the shop and the shop owner says you needed to do a research before asking for ice-cream!
Having said all this, I got an e-mail from HTC that they have forwarded my mail about these point to Microsoft.
It is all up MS what they will decide to do.
Do you think Microsoft decides to take a user point of view into consideration or just like others thinks their new OP is good and will do anything. I guess some of these points will take huge changes to the OS and their marketing plans.
And I should not complain because I had to do more research in advance .

Again, you are comparing ice cream to yogurt. Two totally different things. It is a very valid excuse. If you like ice cream, then you probably shouldn't have bought yogurt, or at least, done some research on yogurt before you bought it so that you knew what you were getting. You can complain all you like, but yogurt isn't going to change into ice cream because you want it to. They may share similarities, but they are not and will never be the same.
Same goes for Windows Mobile/Windows Phone. Windows Mobile 6.5 and Windows Phone 7 are two different platforms going in the two different directions. Microsoft recognized that one path wasn't going anywhere, so it took a look around and went in a different direction. So Windows Phone 7 may share some similarities to Windows Mobile, but they aren't and probably will never be the same product ever.
Both platforms cater to two different audiences, and if you like Windows Mobile 6.5, that's fine. Stick with it. You just have to realize that it is unfortunately a dead platform and you won't see any further updates. Windows Phone 7 is different and takes new and unique steps to a more cohesive and connected platform, and if you don't like it, the simple solution would be to not buy it.
If you are hoping that Windows Phone will become like Windows Mobile, then you should probably give up hope, as Microsoft has made it clear that this platform is something totally different.
The ice cream owner who sold you yogurt didn't tell you he was giving you yogurt.
Microsoft however, made it clear they are now selling cakes instead of ice creams or yogurt.

Well, I think it also was not clear when I bought my HD7 and MS did not make it clear that no other software but only new ones from market place will work on WP7.
