Screen protector does not stick - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a problem with the screen protector of my GN.
I succeeded to install it but the edges do not stick. I have not touched the protection with fingers during installation. It's like if the edge (in fact, the corner) of the mobile did not accept the protection.
It's uneasy to explain (due to my bad english, sorry) and I can't take a picture that shows the situation.
Does somebody has had the same problem ?

Mine is fine.. Did you make sure the Phone surface is clean?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

It was my first idea : the surface not clean. But I cleaned it with great precision.
I have had another idea. Maybe this is due to contact of palm that had let some grease and the dry cleaning is not enough. But I don't want to wash it under water:crying: I don't know what to use to be sure that the surface is really clean.

Scratches! How can I remove them?

So some inconsiderate person at work just picks up my phone without asking, and runs her broke-ass fingernails across the screen, BAM! instantly two fine hairline scratches right through the middle, all the way across. ARGG! Is there anyway I can buff these out, or get a new plastic screen?
Scratches...
Always use a screen protector... and don't let women touch your device - women and technology don't mix! (Only joking ladies ).
I found this on eBay - it's really good stuff.
Displex
Hope this helps.
It's probably a little too late, but a screen protector is always a good idea! Once you find out how to get it fixed, I highly recommend using one.
Well, it worked for mine but i still say test, do this:
- Toothpaste, it can be used to sand things with, like shiny plastics
- now, before you put half a tube on it, it would be safer to test first, take a little bit of toothpaste on your finger, little bit of water, mix between 2 fingers, then in circles rub a small corner of your screen, for a few minutes
- if it doesnt get less shiny, you can go rub circles over the scratch, once again a little toothpaste and a little drop of water to mix toothpaste with (makes it easyer to rub bscly)
The above got a nasty (unfortunatlly deep) scratch to be almost invisible when using device (cuz its deep u can still see it when the device is off) on my htc touch diamond, wich i caused the second day i got the device, by having the diamond and its headphones in the same pocket
The mentioned displex is a paste somewhere in between toothpaste and silver-cleaner-stuff, it would most likelly work better then my trick, but hey, maybe you can save yourself a few quids by getting the scratches off for 'free' (assuming you have toothpaste already) i do still advice you to even when you get displex test on a tiny part of a corner first, theres a whole lot of different plastics on phones. you can pick displex up at those phone stores that work with several contracters (orange tmobile etc)
This topic reminded me i didnt try with displex yet btw
Edit:
Another thing, screen protectors kinda suck on touch devices, since it reduces the capability to detect touch, always.
Didn't HTC state somewhere that it was amazing scratch proof glass and screen protector was only included out of habit?

Displex is really awesome! Some ime ago i bought it for fixing my Laptop-Screen and even there (on an ASUS Crystal Display) it worked perfectly!
The only negative thing about Displex in my opinion is, that if you are using it too often, the screen will become kinda "unshiny" just like after polishing a car too much.... i noticed that after i used it several times to fix my Samsung D900 Screen
And regarding the screen protector delivered with the devide... I think it is a really good thing! I attached it to my Diamond after one week and didn't notice any differences... it even worked better when using the fingers to tap the screen.
Good advice here....tooth paste is good for removing most of a deep scratch BUT test first....
Displex to get the fine stuff....I would still test this as well, VERY CAREFULLY of course!!
Try this..

Do not use toothpaste unless you test it first. Different toothpastes use different size grit. You may end up causing more problems.
To polish plastics, I use jeweller's rouge. Just rub some on a clean cloth and work away. It's slow but there's les chance of screwing things up.
If it's only a couple of fine scratches that are difficult to see, then leave it. Polishing will change the surface texture so you will need to polish the entire surface, not only the area of the scratches. It's doubtful that you'll find anything to match the original surface.

1. Nope, but didn't make it worse. The screen was as readable as before.
2. Nope, if you fit it carefully no particles or dust will ever be collected under the screen protector.
3. No change at all. It is the same as before, no hindrance to the touch screen after the screen protector is applied.
thnx ........ ordered it !!

1: No. Didn't change at all.
2: No. In fact its better than before. Without the screenprotector dust was at the edges of the screen all the time - with the screenprotector - nothing.
3: I would say it didn't change. However, since the screenprotector is quite thick (0,2-0,3mm I guess ... ), the handling is much better now. Especially with the HTC flow-applictations the finger flowing at the edges of the screen is much more comfortable now.
And very nice: When applying it on the screen, you can easily pull it off again if you accidentally enclosed dust under it, and wash it. After drying it works as well as before. (Did it about 10 times before I aligned it perfectly onto the screen without any dust sealed in ...
Best screenprotector I ever had
wooow seems really gr8...thnx so much for sharing ur experience

I agree. Have used it for all my phones. First time bought pack of two and never used second one. Since then, only buy singles
Question does the screen fill the gap between the case and the screen so it is better to touch the screen at the edges?
I've got some scratches on my Martin fields protector, from using the stylus!
found I'd got a sharp point on the tip of the styus, still not certain how..
unfortunately I noticed it as it put a scratch up the shield.
bah!

Got the same issue, but haven't been able to see anything sharp at the end of my stylus...
I got a scratch too, that's why I converted to Brando, because they are cheap and I wouldn't have to fear about scratches on a 2 bucks screen protector.
I've used Protech screen shields for a number of my devices. Been happy with every one and delivery is fast.
Might try the Martin shield just to see how it compares.
cwh
I have to buy a new one, O2 scratched mine when they repaired the crack in the case

Scratch removers

So I didn't attach a screen protector, my bad and it has worked pretty ok so far but just recently I got a "dot" 2.5mm radius which annoys me so....
Is it ok to use scratch removers on the screen? I have never thought of how touch screens, resisitive or capacitive works. I have Novus 1, 2 & 3 at hand (pinball restoring) but i thought i should here you out before I try.
Thanks, A.D
Well, a scratch remover actually creates more scratches to even out the surface, so as long as the 'dot' is shallow it *shouldn't* damage the device.

Hate to bring this thread to front page but I wanted to thank you for replying and I should have responded erlier but sorry to say, I forgot.
I did try Novus on the scratches and it worked out fine. Didn't get rid of all scratches but it removed the sharp edges at least.
Thanks, A.D

I'll be happy to answer any questions you guys might have
That nice, but you did it wrong.. I guess its like an Oreo cookie everyone has there own way of eating them
I would have just pealed about an inch off the top then applied it and slowly and softly pushed down as I peeled of the rest..

Thats another way to do it ;P Both great ways IMO. The only reason I don't like that way is that too many issue with people accidentally touching the sticky part, and thereby adding oil to the installation =(.
Expert Tip: Keep scotch tape ripped and ready to go to catch any dust that may fall on the sticky portion during installaion. =].

Haha! You know, after doing Zagg twice, I actually thought about doing it like that. All gowned up, wearing powderfree gloves and working in a BSC.
No more Zagg for me.
I always get mine wet. Helps get it down and slide a little bit to align. Also allows you to also remove any bubbles easier then a dry apply. Yes I'm talking about a dry application. A little soap helps too to prevent fingerprints.
Yea like oreos.

That installation video was brutal. In my house if I turned the screen protector over like had done, it wouldve had at least 1 or 2 dust particles catch on it. The way i do it is to always try to start from the top, peel back maybe an inch worth of the 1st guard, and lay it as perfect as possible all while holding the protector downwards. Then work your way down gently, push out the leftover bubbles with a microfiber cloth and my fingernail. Lift and dab with tape when necessary if dust bubbles occur.

so how's the feel on this one (is there any grip while swiping)? is there any orange peel? and how well does it reduce fingerprint?
Lol once i go back to school ill have access to a real cleanroom, may have to buy a new screen protector for it. But imo that wasnt a very good installation guide seeing how there were still some noticeable bubbles. The technique was good but Thats whT people are trying to avoid haha

I usually ignore any dusts/bubbles at the beginning. Of course, it's nice not to get them, but my main concern at the start is lining it up properly so that it sits perfect on the screen. Once I get that sorted, I use scotch tape and lift up every corner and clean up from below (while wearing lab nitrile gloves). I've had perfect applications using this method, though it takes time. Heck, it took me an hour and a half to get it absolutely perfect and bubble/dust free application for my Galaxy Nexus! Only took about 20 minutes to get a perfect and clean application for the Nexus 7
For those wondering, any bubbles on the screen protector will "dry out" after 24 hours [Ours is now bubble free after 24 hours of waiting]. I can understand wanting to do more! The more techniques performed the better. Just be ready to multi-task =).

As a dry system there will be no noticeable orange peel. Also this one is super smooth, and does not grip your finger at all.
You won't need to wipe your screen for 2 weeks or more guaranteed. Our GLARESHATTER system takes care of fingerprints extremely well!
We have great Amazon reviews for our Nook Color version: http://www.amazon.com/caseen-GLARES...ie=UTF8&qid=1344896005&sr=8-9&keywords=caseen
You will like the Nexus 7 one =].

A different screen issue

I've only had my unit a day and decided to give it a quick clean to remove the finger prints using nothing more that breathing on it and a spectacle cloth. Whilst doing this I found what at first appeared to be 2 finger prints on the left edge of the screen which did not appear to be coming off. I then tried a damp cloth followed by glasses cleaner and then a dab of washing up liquid. None of which seem to have any affect. The strange thing is that you cannot feel them or hardly see them after cleaning but as soon as you run your finger over them the grease from your finger makes them visible like a finger print. Also running a damp cloth over them makes them visible until the moisture evaporates and then they are gone. I have been incredibly careful and know I could not have caused them but was wondering if anyone else has this issue or how I can remove these marks without causing damage as my unit is perfect except for a tiny bit of screen lift which doesn't really bother me.
My Nexus also has a issue like this, but it's like a big smear near the top or the screen. I am 100% sure that I never dropped anything on it
It looks like a big fingerprint mark, but it won't come off.. like your issue
Luckily I'm getting it replaced anyway as the screen lift issue has returned, but I still would have got a replacement anyway due to this new issue.
Sounds like a problem with the anti-finger print coating that's normally used on phone/tablet screens.
I don't think you'll be able to fix it, if you obsess over it and keep trying to clean it off chances are you'll make it worse. Either get over it or exchange it.
Perhaps it's a fingerprint on the underside of the glass. I'm not sure. Hard to tell without pics.
Maybe a screen protector will cover this up. Can you feel it when you run your fingers over it?

Nah it is on top of the screen, you can sorta feel it - it is slippier than the rest of the screen. If I breath on it you can see that it is not affected whereas the rest of the screen goes grey.
I am really careful with plastic screens, but this one is glass. I squirt some Windex on a tissue and use that. Works great - but use at your own risk. Ops problem sounds like a bit of silicone on the glass. Use an appropriate solvent. Squirt nothing at the tablet - use a slightly moist tissue.

I would love for the issue to be silicone but I cannot see where that would have come from.
Unfortunately the most likely option seems to be the coating
So I guess it's time for a return.
Given that I bought it from Tesco Direct is it better to contact Google or deal with Tesco

I also bought mine from Tesco Direct, phoned them up and then sent me a replacement the next day! (this was for the first replacement)
The replacement they sent me now has the screen lift and this screen issue. I phoned them and they said they are out of stock atm, but when it's in stock they will send me another replacement - they also gave me a £20 refund!
i have same issue
i applied a sceen protector, had no choice, but no more fingerprint
I called Tesco, replacement will be in store tommorrow
