[Q] HTC Raider no data connection - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hello all I have a Rogers HTC Raider I have S-off i have the rogers ICS 4.0.3 on it and done the Sim unlock. I can make phone calls fine but I can't seem to get the data part to work. It has a PC mobile sim card in it which runs on the BM network. I have searched the forums for an answer to this problem but have yet to find one so any help would be great. TY to every one in advance

If you aren't getting anything more than G or E, that's probably because it has the wrong radio bands.

Is there a tutorial or any thing on how to do this?

I have a Question Like his Sometimes When I Click on Quick Settings it shows Mobile Network ON but when I click on my Settings then it shows it OFF & I can't turn it on Any Idea?

Bell Mobility APN Settings
I bet you're missing your APN settings. You might need special PC mobile settings, but try the Bell APN settings. Here are mine:
Name: Bell
APN: pda.bell.ca
MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
MMS port: 80
MCC 302
MNC: 610
Authentication Type: CHAP
APN Type: *
Bearer: unspecified
Anything I didn't mention here has been left as "not set". You might also want to try changing the Authentication type to not set or unspecified or whatever.
You don't need to reboot between changes. Just save, and exit out of the settings, and if you don't have a data icon/can't browse, it didn't work.
Hope that helps!

You can't change the radio bands the phone supports. It's hardware. Your raider supports the bands that Rogers/Bell/Kudoo/Virgin use, so you should be up and running with those settings. Are you sure the plan you have allows data? I don't know much about those pre-paid plans, so I can't be much help there, but I can guarantee that the Raider supports Bell Mobility network bands.

yes I have data on it but it is only 250 mb Hmmm I am stumped. this is what it says on the web site
You may be able to bring your current mobile phone to PC mobile. Once you are eligible to move, there will be two things you need to ensure:
Your device must be compatible - it must be HSPA (or UMTS) and 850 MHz and 1900 MHz compatible. See if your device is compatible.
If your device is currently locked, it needs to be unlocked. Please note that unlocking your device may invalidate any applicable warranty on the device and that PC Mobile does not offer or honour any warranty on devices not purchased through PC Mobile.
If your device is compatible, buy a PC mobile SIM card from The Prepaid Cell Phones Express self serve display near you.

That's strange. Perhaps where PC Mobile is riding bareback on Bell, maybe you need to set up authentication or a proxy in your APN... Is there a customer care number for them? Try calling them and get someone to verify your APN settings.

[Q] Note and ATT 4G

Hey guys I just switched from captivate to Gnote, and trying to setup the data network here.
I had the original 3g plan with att, and I read on gsmarena that this phone supports LTE 700 which is what att is using right now.
So I am just wondering, is this phone capable of using the att 4g? do I need to get a new sim from them in order to get on the 4g network?
Thank you very much in advance!
LTE version or hspa version
did you buy the Korean Note that supports LTE or have a regular HSPA note. the regular note only supports the AT&T hspa and needs an 4g apn.

In short, GSMarena got it sorely wrong. The internationally available version of the Note, with the Exynos chipset, most certainly does not support LTE in any shape or form. It should also be mentioned that Verizon also uses 700MHZ LTE as well, but both AT&T and VZW use totally different blocks within that spectrum space anyway. So, I would find it strange that GSMarena may possibly claim that not only does the Note have support for 700MHZ LTE, but also every possible carrier block therein. Seems unlikely to me...
There are however carrier specific versions of the Note based off a completely different Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset designed to work on very specific LTE networks in other parts of Asia (mainly in Korea), and AT&T is rumored to have commissioned Samsung to build them their own specific LTE version of the Note as well. HOWEVER, I would fervently recommend AGAINST buying any kind of device commissioned and built specifically for any particular carrier. ALWAYS buy unlocked devices. By buying unlocked equipment, you are taking power away from the carrier that they would otherwise have over you when it comes to your consumer choice. Not to mention all the benefits and the freedoms you should enjoy by owning your own equipment, free of any carrier imposed limitations, bloatware *ahem*CarrierIQ*ahem*, and whatever other diabolical things carriers will inevitably do to our precious equipment.
Anyway, I'm getting side-tracked here...
To get your Note fully functional, and running optimally on AT&T, it's not quite as simple as just popping your SIM card in and off you go...
The three basic things you need to do are as follows:
1. Make sure you have the correct account provisioning.
2. Configure and use the correct APN('s).
3. Disable Fast Dormancy.
I'll cover these in more detail below, but first of all I need to clarify something: the Note supports 21mbit HSPA+, which if you want to call that 4G, OK fine. Personally I try to avoid marketing catch-phrases like "3G" and "4G" altogether, so henceforth I shall refer to the Note's mobile connectivity by what it actually is: HSPA+
Now, before you're able to fully take advantage of HSPA+, you'll need to make sure that your account is properly provisioned for that feature, otherwise you'll run into a virtual speed limit which will keep your device from reaching its full speed potential. So, in order to check that you have the correct provisioning on your account, you should call in to customer service and make sure you're on a proper 4G (not LTE 4G either!) plan. Ask them if you have the correct SOC code. In my case (grandfathered unlimited data user), my SOC code should be "HSDPB." If you're on a tiered plan, it'll be something else. Either way, you need to be on a 4G plan of some sort.
"Ok, how do I do that then?"
Easy. Go to you local store and get the IMEI from a similar Samsung device (from a connectivity standpoint anyway), like an Infuse 4G, or a non-LTE Galaxy S2. From the dialer, enter in *#06#, and the IMEI should show up. Make a note of that number (hehehe). You can probably find another IMEI on the internet, too, but either way you need that. When you call in to AT&T customer support, just tell the rep that you've upgraded your device to a *insert name of device from which you got the IMEI* that you bought on eBay or something, and you want to make sure that you're on the correct plan. Provide them that IMEI, and now your account should be provisioned for HSPA+ (YAY! WOO!).
Now that that's out of the way, you need to configure your APN or APN's if you're using more than one (this only usually applies if you're grandfathered into an older plan). Go to Settings => Wireless and network => Mobile networks => Access Point Names. From here, tap the menu button and select "New APN."
Populate the fields as follows (Case sensitive!):
Name: Doesn't matter, you can call this whatever you want.
APN: Phone
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMSC Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net

MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: <none set>
APN type: internet + mms (if you're on a tiered plan) or just internet (if you're on a legacy grandfathered plan).
This APN info above is for achieving the highest possible speeds over HSPA+
The next APN generally offers slower data speeds, but depending on your area may not be any different in terms of speed after all. This is the old legacy Cingular APN, and you need to input these settings if you're on a grandfathered legacy plan, otherwise you may not be able to send/receive MMS properly.

Congratulations! You should have now successfully set up both your account and your APN's properly for making your Note fully functional on AT&T! You should now at the very least be able to get onto the internet and browse etc. Pat yourself on the back!
But wait! There's more!
You still have to disable a feature on your Note called Fast Dormancy. Fortunately, this is really quick and easy to do. But first, what the hell is that, and why do I have to disable it? Well without getting all technical, simply put, it's a feature which allows a device to very quickly switch from an idle data state to UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ and back to idle again, and generally work more efficiently, thus improving performance, and saving battery life. Problem is, in order for this feature to work, BOTH the device and the network that device is on need to support it. Unfortunately, AT&T does not currently support Fast Dormancy. As a result, by having fast dormancy enabled on your device, it'll have the complete opposite effect than what it was intended to have. Basically, your battery life will suck more, data connections will be erratic, slow, and unreliable, and you're basically wasting data overhead on a feature that, for AT&T, just doesn't exist. Disable it, and your Note will fly like it was intended.
To disable Fast Dormancy, from your dialer, enter in *#*#9900#*#*
This should pull up your SysDump menu. There, close to the bottom it should indicate your current Fast Dormancy state, enabled by default. Select that option, and it should indicate that Fast Dormancy is disabled. Exit and enjoy! Reboot the phone for good measure though. You generally don't have to, but sometimes it irons out any issues that may arise.
Hope this all helps! Enjoy your Note on AT&T!!
P.S. Hey Moderators!! Can we by any chance get this tutorial posted up as a sticky? Seems to be the best way to consolidate for AT&T users. Thanks!

Gotcha. Wouldn't surprise me that the pta APN wouldn't have worked, because if I'm not mistaken, I believe that's the LTE only APN anyway.
Great post !
Thx for the 4-1-1!!! This was great. However, one question, i got the skyrocket for Xmas, I put the sim in and used the 'pta' APN i found on this site. Is that OK? im gettting download speeds ~2 - 2.5. Is that what the non-LTE apn speeds are like? or should i change the IEMI number with ATT as you described and get a regular 4g plan (non LTE)? thx again

Honestly, I doubt you'll need to change your plan as such. However, I would avoid using the pta APN, mainly because it's monitored and regulated much more heavily than the other two I listed above. From what I read a few months ago on the Skyrocket forums, people on the pta APN were running into issues where they were getting throttled pretty badly, and in some cases, even if they weren't throttled, some websites were simply blocked outright. The solution was to fall back to the older APN's. Now I don't know if the issues with the pta APN have been fixed or not, but I would still avoid it on principle.
As for your average speeds on HSPA+, my understanding is that the Skyrocket falls back to 21mbit HSPA+ anyway when LTE is unavailable, so I would assume that your account provisions should already be set up to take full advantage of that on your Note. That being the case, yes, the speeds you are seeing are consistent with average/normal HSPA+ performance.
Feel free to read the link in my comment about 4 posts ago to understand a little more about what kinds of speeds to expect based on a number of environmental factors.
Thanks so much for this info. This needs a sticky!
After trying both APN's listed in this thread, im not able to fully receive MMS messages. I get a message with a download button, but the pic will not dl after touching the button.
I came from a skyrocket, in an LTE area, then used a cheap samsung gophone for a week (what misery!) while waiting on my GNote. I looked under message settings, and do have a retrival phone number, and checked "automatically download". Text mesaaging works fine. Any advice?

Get rid of all the MMS info in the wap.cingular APN, and set up a new APN with that info and call it "AT&T MMS" or something like that. When you set the type to MMS only, that APN will remain active always (no green button next to it) and you should receive MMS normally.

Sony Xperia V settings for Softbank Japan

Hi, all
My water and shock proof "go" broke.
I went through loops to get the go working here in Japan in Softbank network
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853922
- only to find out later on that maybe I didn't actually need to modify kernel, boot, ROM, MMS app and all that.
Also later SW update with using PC Companion was obviously a no go, as the phone was now modified.
I am using a black SIM for an SBM iPhone.
So that was my starting point for trying to set up V (LT25i), to go through with it without modifying anything crucial.
Good news, it is possible:
From the box,
1. Connect to PC, no memory card, no SIM card
2. Let PC Companion install whatever it wants to install
3. Ran SW update in PC Companion (upgraded to 4.1.2, build 9.1.A.1.140)
4. Recover stuff from "go" backup, which I luckily could backup before it totally died on me
-Backup/restore
-Find the "go" dbk file
-Migrate
-Choose only things that are not related to the phone workings itself, no settings and such!! Only photos, messages, files, docs, so on.

5. Set internet access point - I put the SIM and mem card in before this step

Then tick "Fill APN configuration manually"
and fill in the details:

And that's it!
Mobile internet and MMS working.
GoSMS sometimes brings double retrieves for some MMS, one of which is empty and dummy, but that bothers me so slightly that I don't care. I don't use MMS that much anyway.
I'd like to get the User Agent String used by Softbank for HTC Desire and/or iPhone4 and 5, but couldn't find any - although I don't think it would make any difference for the functioning of MMS.
This, I suppose, will work for any Sony - or any Android for that matter - out there.
You don't lose the ability to get official updates from manufacturer and can keep the warranty alive, should anything nasty happen.

Indeed, a Japanese mobile operator. No GSM, though.
WCDMA since the beginning of millenium and now lately heavily rolling out LTE.
Used to be part of Vodafone, before that J-Phone.
Now recently they bought one of the biggest operators in North America, Sprint, and are going to expand there as well.
Well, when I said “GSM carrier” I meant that they mainly used the GSM family of standards (unlike just about every other carrier in Japan).
(I use both Softbank and docomo.)
Totally didn't mean to criticize you, mate, you are right - in a way.
While one can argue that some - if not most - of the UMTS standards are inherited from GSM, the whole WCDMA system is based on it's own standards, defined by 3GPP and are separate from those of GSM specs (although encompassing many GSM features).
Obviously we are talking about the same thing, in a bit different terms, that's all.
Softbank - mostly - uses world market products for it's networks

[Q] Htc One GE and ATT LTE

Just set up ATT prepaid 60/month plan yesterday and its my understanding that this should give me LTE access. I found some att pta APN settings but they dont work, just lose internet connection. I am getting good speeds on HSPA (5-7mbps dl) but just curious as to why LTE seems to not be working?
Im on 4.3 if that makes a difference.
My first question is.. has AT&T rolled out LTE in your area? My second question would be are you absolutely sure your plan comes with LTE?

Nashville, TN so yes LTE market.
Asked the sales rep when I set it up yesterday specifically if the prepaid plans included LTE and he said yes.

Ive tried a couple. I have one set up that I labeled ATT Phone
These settings aget me HSPA
APN: phone
mmsc: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net

mms port 80
mcc 310
mnc 410
apn type default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri
apn protocol ipv4/ipv6
apn roaming protocol ipv4/ipv6
I tried just changeing the apn phone to pta with the rest basically the same and that gets me no internet.
there's only a couple more things I can think of...
1. In your APN, make sure the bearer setting at the very bottom is unspecified (ignore if it doesn't exist).
2. The rep who created your account didn't enable LTE for the particular phone line.
Bottom line is, if LTE is enabled on your account, it should work.
sorry i couldn't help any more.

Cool well thanks for your help. I might swing by att store when I get off work and see if they figure out anything.
Overall really not that big a problem, hspa is plenty fast for me really, just want to get use out of what I pay for though.
I'm going to guess that the rep just didn't enable LTE on your phone line otherwise you'd have no data. Hopefully, they can sort it out.

[Q] Need Help with ATT LTE apn settings!

So I recently bought a new Galaxy Note 3 T-mobile variant on craigslist to use on my AT&T plan. The phone is perfect, I love it! The only problem is that I can't seem to connect to LTE after I unlocked it. I have already rooted the phone using CF Auto-root, and then I turned to unlocking it. I heard that the "Region Lock Away" app by chainfire removed the region lock as well as unlocked the sim, as long as you reboot later. So thats what I tried first rather then pay for an unlock code.
Now when I bought the Note 3, it didn't include the sim card from T-mobile. So I did the whole process of rooting and unlocking under my real att sim card that I was using with my Nokia lumia 920 (I know it was time to upgrade). I went to an ATT retail store, and I ended up talking to a service rep and explained that I wanted to use my Galaxy note 3 on their network, and that I would be unlocking it when I got home. She convinced me to give them the IMEI number on the back of the phone to "provision the network to my phone".
Well after the Region Lock Away app did it's thing, I no longer had the sim card ask for an unlock code and I was able to text and make calls. So I figure that I was fully unlocked. But my data wasn't working, so after a bit of research here at XDA I noticed that I needed to change my apn settings. So i used these as suggested by another post:
NAME: ATT Phone
APN: phone
MMSC: http[colon]//mmsc.mobile.att[dot]net <-- XDA thinks I am posting a url!
MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att[dot]net
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri
After setting these, and then using them, I can't find any data connection at all. Can anyone shed some insight as to what may be the problem?
BTW: the legacy wap.cingular apn settings are working for me but I only get about 2 Mb/s max. Which is not what I want from an LTE phone obviously.
The only thing I noticed you did not mention is "authentication type", which needs to be manually set to None. I come to the note 3 from an AT&T galaxy s4. I was using a t-mobile custom rom on it the whole time, every time I reset the ROM I had to manually add APN settings, authentication type "none" always had to be selected along with the rest of the entries. If you don't manually set this it will read "not set".

Settings are right as I compared them with my phone. Only thing I can think of is the rep didn't configure your account right and LTE is not enabled. You can log onto your att.com and check to see if your sim has LTE activated. You would see something like DataPro 3GB for Smartphone 4G LTE or whatever amount of data checked on your line. If not your LTE is not active it won't work no matter what APN settings you use.
Edit; this is what authentication type should read instead of default "not set".

Thanks for the replies!! Well I went in to the att store, and spoke with the same person who switched my IMEI number into the system. Looks like two things happened, first my data plan was switched from a 3GB LTE data to a media plan which was causing me to recieve text messages complaining about my data usage and stating $200 charges. To remedy this we had to make a call to the dreaded at&t customer service center where my Rep. was put on hold for about 30 min (ridiculous...) and also the charges were removed. I also had her switch the IMEI to the Galaxy S3 that I previously used before I got the sudden death ****. So after all that, my data has finally connected and im getting about 7MB down which is still only HSPA+. So the only thing I have left to try is maybe some other APN settings (suggestions here????) or maybe try a new simcard and use the unlock code I have.

Searching for the AT&T APN setting led me to this thread.
After setting all the APN settings as others, I was still getting pretty slow connection speed.
Then, I switched the Bearer to "LTE" type and voila! I started getting the full LTE speed!

You can only do this if you know your in a LTE supported area otherwise you will not get any data if your in a 4g or H+ area with the bearer set to LTE only.
wrong thread
These are my new working APN settings. 4G LTE completely working on AT&T
Name: ATT Phone
APN: phone
proxy through server:not set
MMSC: http[colon]//mmsc[dot]mobile.att.net
Multimedia Message Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
multimedia message port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: default,mms,supl,hipri,fota
APN protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Mobile virtual network operator type:not set
I find that no matter what settings I use on the APN (working ones, I mean), if I have Wifi on, I lose LTE. As soon as I disable Wifi, even if I don't move the phone, LTE comes back. Not that it matters, I just like seeing that little 4G LTE icon.
My guess is that your WiFi is set to take priority over mobile data. There might be a setting to change this though. For example in the WiFi settings there is a toggle that allows your phone to automatically switch between WiFi and mobile data, to have a seamless browsing experience.
I'm on lollipop running the Echoe ROM on my sm-n900t and I use the download booster to boost my speeds by using both together.

No AT&T SIM

Has anyone in the US bought this phone? AT&T can't activate because they don't have the right (size I guess) SIM for this phone thus couldn't activate.
Anyone have this same issue?

That's BS. I slapped my nano SIM into my US XZ1C with no problems. The phone then asked to search online for the APN information. It downloaded it all with zero effort on my part and everything worked 100%. I've had this SIM card since at least the Z3 time. Go to another store, have them replace whatever SIM you have now with a nano SIM, go home and install it on your phone. Don't give them any explanation for anything. You need to replace your SIM with a nano SIM and that's it. You'll get signal automatically, but not data. Just Google AT&T APN settings and enter them if your phone doesn't offer to download them during the initial setup. I get LTE all over town, although it shows the 4G icon instead. I can send/receive SMS, MMS, and calls normally.

Ok I'll do that. I'm moving from vzn to att and was trying to set up account over the phone. The rep first told me it was a 2G only phone and they don't support that. Then after I told him that his own website said the IMEI number was supported he came back with the SIM statement. I even said "it's just a nano SIM" what's special... Anyway useless to argue after some point. I'll just go to the store tomorrow.

Go to a different one. It's a miracle that rep even knows what a phone looks like. "2G only phone"
Went to a store this morning and got it to sorta work but I'm only getting H+ on my phone, not LATE. Any thoughts?

have you looked at the APNs? this is most likely the issue.
this phone technically supports all ATT LTE bands.
you may also have to set your "Preferred Network type" to LTE preferred
I am still using my old AT&T SIM from years ago when it was originally a Micro SIM. Just carefully cut the SIM down to the appropriate size and it works fine. I have the UK version and have no issues so far.
As for the H+ only, it may be due to the IMEI not being recognized on the network carrier. I haven't experienced this issue, but from what I've read online, you can ask the AT&T rep to register your SIM using a phone's IMEI that is registered with AT&T. Not sure how that works, but it's what I've read on other forums from people with the same issue.
I've used APN settings on web and confirmed the SIM is compatible but still not getting LATE speed. Open signal testing in various locations at best are 5-6Mbps.

I believe I read somewhere that there is one band that is unavailable on the XZ1C in the United States. Could that perhaps be the band that covers the area or region that I am currently in?
I'm in college station, tx 77845
I'm really not sure what I'm looking for but found this site.
Texas, Brazos country

the only band i know of that has been in question is band 12. i think most ATT LTE takes place on band 17, which runs on almost the same frequency as band 12. this is likely not your issue, but i can dig a bit deeper. this mostly affects people using Tmobile, like myself.
i'm guessing you have one of the international variants?
that last link you sent was a dead end for me (your entries on that site did not carry over with the URL). what was it you saw on that site that was of potential value? you can send me a screenshot if you want

How would I tell? I double checked my order and confirmed it's "supposed" to be a US version and I don't have a fingerprint security option.
I doubt the resolution will be good enough to read, if not follow that link and apply filter Texas and Brazos country. It is a list of frequencies in my region. I don't know if it's of any real value or not just searching.
I really appreciate your help!
One last thing... My phone hasn't downloaded any at&t bloatware. Not even the myATT app. I don't know if that adds any clues

sorry to bother, would you mind sharing the APN settings you have?
also, any other network settings that might affect connectivity? our friend in texas needs some help getting his LTE going.
ALSO... my XZ1C shows LTE when connected to it. are you positive you are operating on LTE? is there a chance you are connected to it but not using it? network speeds?
thanks in advance!
Just left AT&T again and no better.
There are two APN settings that are on my phone. (1.) ATT Nextgenphone
(2.) ATT HSPA+ ***this was renamed from simply ATT by the guy messing with my phone. Originally it was just ATT***
APN Settings
1. These APN settings result in no data connection what-so-ever
Name: ATT Nextgenphone
APN: nexgenphone
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMSPort: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: default,admin,mms,supl,hipri,internet
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: none
2. This gets data (H) but at about 4 Gbps. Sometimes it bumps up to (H+) but never long enough to test speed.
Name: ATT HSPA+
APN: phone
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMSPort: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: default,supl,mms,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: none
Somewhere on the AT&T website there was detail referencing the 9th and 10th digit of the SIM being certain numbers. Whatever it was my SIM is compatible.
Looking for the specific langauge I happened back to this site and now I'm worried I've got no hope. Here is the link but I've attached a screenshot of the concerning statement.
https://apn.gishan.net/settings/1887_4_att_apn_settings_for_sony_xperia_xz1.php
Can anyone give an opinion on any of this? Thanks for all your help. I hope it prevents someone else from having the same problem.
