We are not alone - LG Optimus 4X HD

Just found out that the the top trio of LG phone: O4X, Op Vu, and Op G apparently have their bootloader locked
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/23/lg-optimus-g-comes-with-locked-bootloader/
Maybe we can join forces with Op Vu and Op.G users to push the manufacturer to change their mind.

Optimus G and O4X are not that different.. but I believe there will be much more devs for the OG, so if one of them manages to hack the bootloader, perhaps his method will be ported to the O4X ?

Optimus G is running a Qualcom Snapdragon S4 chipset, while 4X is running Nvidia Tegra 3. There won't be any cross-develpments I guess.

It's mainly the past 2 years that I've been swapping and changing, I will swap out again once the Panasonic Eluga Power is released.
Didn't really get on with the S3, not sure what it is with it but just couldn't find any love for it.

[Q] Still no ICS !

Back in February, Motorola released a chart with names and dates that told us when each of its Android devices will be getting upgraded to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. Unfortunately, it seems the company won't be able to keep its promise for all the announced devices.
The updated chart now showws that the Motorola Atrix 4G, Photon 4G and the Electrify do not qualify for the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade and will remain on Gingerbread. Other devices remain unaffected, with perhaps some minor changes in dates at most.
Our lovely tegra 2 brother Motorola atrix 4G won't have ICS .and i really feel sorry for them. So is there any possibility to happen this with us guys ? what if lg cancel ics too ?we will stuck in GB!
sorry for this post...
regard
Nah, as our sisterphone SU660 have ICS (leak, but from LG). I'm more than confident that the P990 will recive a official ICS too.
Just wait a few days
Btw, please use our sticky thread next time

arcee: the star, the galaxy R, and the grand X are completely different devices. different components, different resolutions, different radios, different audio amps, different panel manufacturers, different almost everything. The designs have nothing in common other than being T2
tonyp: so it's either LG or nothing?
arcee: yes
i wonder why dual core + 1gb ram spec can't run ICS !. shame on google.

LG released yet ICS for SU660 in Korea... Just wait or flash CM10... JB without a lot of bug! I'm using it and it's fantastic! Only video encoding, project butter and H/W don't work... But I suggest you being hopeful, LG is waiting to sell some 4X first!

I've learned my lesson. Nexus Phones only Its a pure google phone and receives all updates upto a certain time of course. The nexux S is on 4.1.1 and i can still see it receiving 1 or 2 major upgrades. If google can just take control make the os for every high end(1Ghz or more) phone and put it on their website it will truly be amazing. I read somewhere that they are trying to do that.

Lg 4X HD and Vu p895

Hello folks. I have been comparing the two devices and they seem to be pretty much identical hardware and software wise. The only difference being the screen resolution and format. They run on the same SoC , same camera modules , I imagine same modem too. Any development done for the 4x should be pretty easy to port over to the p895 , similar to what happened with the xperia X10mini and X8 ( The only difference between the two was the screen resolution. The two phones shared a subforum , resources and dev's). Hopefully this thread grabs the attention of others interested in the p895 and reveals a possible cooperation between users of both devices. I will look more into this after I get my phone back from service.
P895 have 4G LTE
Sorry about my bad English
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
No they don't. I have one. It is the same device as the 4X. That is probably the Verizon version or some Korean only model. The international one uses the Tegra 3 SoC and has no 4G.
The xperia x8 was my phone before this. Damm life was easy back then(atleast when it comes to the bootloader)

yep, but we've had oc, uv,ext3/4-support,dualtouch, cwm, custom roms even with locked bootloaders
so why not here too? we 'just' need a skilled dev to work on it
We have a "skilled" dev to work on it. BUT, it would not harm if we had 50 skilled devs or even some help from LG to work on it. I mean, the 4X was never sold in massive quantities like the s3
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
Both the Vu p895 and 4X didn't sell as much as other phones. Maybe it would be for the best to officially add the Vu p895 to the current subforum , more attention can't possibly hurt.

Motorola RAZR i or LG 4X HD?

Hi everyone, which from this two phones would you recommend?
AW: Motorola RAZR i or LG 4X HD?
When i was about to buy a new phone, i had the same 2 phones in mind. I tried both in a store and finally bought the RAZR I. When you hold the lg in your hand, it feels like cheap and plastic...but the ri feels much better...
ok but how about the screen? 4.3'' is with or without this 3 buttons?
I had a choice between the very same phones. Do like the 4X but it all boiled down to battery life and the rugged ness/ splash proofing for me. I definitely made the right choice and can't fault the phone apart from not being able to move apps to external SD without modification.

Hi there,
I compared three phones: HTC One S, Galaxy Nexus and Razr i. The Razr i has the best signal strength, battery life and building quality. I´m very happy with my decision

I have both of them and i would go for LG 4x HD only if you like to read alot on the phone(big screen).
Razr I already has. 4.1.2 and LG is on 4.04. The build quality on razr I is alot better.
In my opinion both are great but if you drop your phone alot, Razr I will last longer.

[A] Don't be scared

Most likely people should stop worrying about device support because most likely if your device is not on their support list you can either port the ROM yourself or Most likely people on xda will make ports for your device most likely I will be doing this on the HTC Rezound B&N Nook Color (1st gen) Kindle Fire (First Gen) and the LG Optimus Zone

Correct - the list of devices was the ones already done or nearly done. There's a whole load more that will be supported.

Not all devices will be supported, I guess.
My device, for instance, has a very tiny community and the only custom ROM we have is stock-based. Of course, I tried to port CM on it, but as I have no skills in development whatsoever, I failed.
Also, I'm not criticizing anyone. It's a device not many people have, even though it's a high-end device. It's just not sold worldwide.
I have a Vibrant which wasn't sold in my country at all

as doctor_droid said, I do have an Asus PadFone Infinity.
not a very well known device, in fact.
I'm currently working on porting CM to the Padfone 2, porting the Padfone infinity should be pretty much the same as the Padfone 2, if you want you can message me and I'll give you details on how far I've gotten and I should be able to help you.
Once CM is ported it should be pretty easy to port Omni.
PMing you.
BTW if you remember from PadFoneClub, I'm the one who built CWM for the Infinity.
