Sometimes I can't unlock the screen. The unlock button works, the XPERIA logo lights up and I see a screen LEDs lights up but there is no picture on it. The touchscreen does work! I can "slide to unlock" it, and even launch some apps with no picture on the screen at all!
Is it software issue? I'm on 7.0.A.3.197, but on 7.0.A.1.303 was the same.

I have not heard of any issues like this on .197, but make sure you have flashed the correct .ftf for your phone.
Use pccompanion or check th eall in one thread.

ok, try repairing with pccompanion.
Or it might just need some time to settle down.
Thread moved. I know you don't post much, but please post in the correct sections of the forum when you do.
Thanks

After full repair problem still exists... It happens once in maybe 30-50 regular unlocks. I can reproduce it by quickly pressing lock/unlock button 10-20 times.
It doesn't looks like hardware issue.

The lock screen on my Droid will not unlock. It will move when I try to swipe it, but it snaps back and won't open. Knew it won't help, but did a battery pull, re-booted and nothing changed. I can't get to any kind of menu that I know of because it is an unrooted, stock phone. I can't use the phone at all if I can't unlock it. PLEASE HELP!!!
Come on, no responses? I know someone on here can offer up something...

u sure u swipe/pull ALLLLL the way to the right?
It happens to me sometimes for the phone call, when you did not complete the whole sliding on the very 1st time. Dunno why, but a double power button click (off screen/on) solves the problem.
The right side of my Vivid's screen is notably darker than the left and the of the 4 buttons on the bottom of the screen, only the home button appears to be at the brightness it should be at. The rest are all super dim or off. When I turn my vivid off, the screen is off, but the button lights are still on. The 4 buttons also work. Ive tried taking out the battery and putting it back in numerous amount of times and restarting it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

You can still run an RUU if you've never unlocked. Turn USB debugging on, put the phone in Charge only mode, run the correct RUU (Gingerbread if you're on Gingerbread, ICS if you're on ICS)
However this sounds like hardware to me

i agree. you might be screwed here
I would think something got messed up and its making it do that. Try flashing an RUU or custom ROM like they said. Hopefully its not the actual screen if it is just replace it
Hi,
Every couple of weeks I give my Xperia Z a wash, this has turned out to be a bad idea. 2 days ago I washed the phone, held it under a running tap for 20 seconds, and now the power button does not work.
Luckily I can unlock the phone using the volume button and I can activate lock screen via a widget. Now I have to send it back to Sony for repair and I am running CM10.2, do you think that I should revert to stock ROM? If so, how would you revert to stock with no power button...
Any advice gratefully received.

Hi,
I am using CM10.2
I press the volume button and it activates the screen, then I unlock.
Update!
The phone switches itself on, so I guess the power button is constantly being pressed? Luckily I have been able to use Flashtool to revert to stock, now I just have to wait for Sony support to get back to me for the repair.
Next time use another detergent

I just tried that, and it looks ridiculous. But! It didn't work...
I also left it on a dehumidifier over night on full blast, no luck. Just waiting on Sony now.

i have this problem to.
my workarround > install carbon rom 4.2.2 disable powerbutton with root browser
system user keylayout Edit "pmic8xxx_pwrkey.kl"
disable the powerkey by placing "#"
"# key 116 POWER WAKE
reboot and the powerkey is disabled
Settings Display Enable > Volumekey wakeup the device
Settings Carbon Navigation Add a Navigationkey with Powerswitch.
That works for me
is a pity that this does not work with version Carbon 4.3
there is missing the menu entry Volumekey wakeup the device

Maybe for you, but in my case, it is generally stuck on. Yesterday it kept waking itself and bringing up the shut down dialogue. Volume up pressed rapidly in succession, also seemed to trigger the power button, which is how I managed to use recovery to install a stock ROM.
Lock the bootloader before sending the phone to service.

Wow, I would still expect a physical defect to be covered. Thanks for the heads up.
I unlocked mine in the early days before you could save your DRM keys. Do you think that I can still relock?

Yeah, no problem.
You just won't have DRM keys (obviously) and no Bravia Engine either.

Send my phone for repair and I just heared today it's covered by warranty, I had the device reverted from cm10.1 to stock and relocked the bootloader
So unlocking the bootloader does NOT break your warranty it only might give additional costs for replacing your nand or such to revert back to stock so to prevent getting those extra costs you simply have to revert your phone to stock firmware and relock the bootloader.
I had those extra costs on my Xperia S before btw, I did have a unlocked bootloader which I didn't relock :/
It might void your warranty if you have damaged any internal hardware like the cpu or nand, memory etc etc since they might not know for sure if it was the fault of custom software or a technical problem on their production side.
Keep in mind my Xperia Z was one of the first batch which had the dust issue on the camera, this might also be a reason why they repair/replace* my phone under warranty.
*No info on that yet.
Since you have no power button it might be tricky to enter fastboot, try using adb or booting into touch*recovery with a terminal command and then reboot from there into fastboot.
*touch is recommended since you can't select a option otherwise without a powerbutton LOL
Thanks, I will do that.

I believe the lg pc suite can help restore the phone or was it lg mobile support tool, but it will probably download the firmware from lg and I don't know if you'll be able to root or bootloader unlock this phone with a newer firmware than v20a
you can also restore the firmware if you have the KDZ file using this tutorial

I hope that helps

Could you tell us what caused the problem? That might help to pin it down.
In the mean time see if you can enter S/W Upgrade mode. Hold the volume down button and plug in a USB cable.

Excuse me for pointing it out, but you are being too concise in your descriptions.
Is the phone even working?
Since you have no buttons, no screen, no PC connection, in lack of more details I tend to believe that it could be turned off and unable to be switched on.
Have you ever had problems with power button?
Have you checked your battery?
It could have been fully discharged, have you tried recharging it for some time?
Does the phone reacts when plugged to a recharger?
See? in a single post I put mor questions than all your statements you put in three of your posts.
You are not helping people to help you.

None as I'm concerned. You should get it replaced. Although it maybe something cause by static. Turn it off for 3o minutes or so and only use the provided cable. Give it a try.

I have the same issue, I think is not a frozen screen, its the touch, try pressing volume keys and you will see that works. It happens several times at day, curiously that started after a Factory Reset, before never happened
