HiYou may not know it, but the nexus 4 uses a micro sim card (like the iPhone 4 & 4s) instead of the standard sized sim card most of you are probably using right now. Now, you can buy one from T-Mobile, for $20, or you can make your own, like I did. I was gonna make a video of myself converting my regular sized sim card into a micro sim but I just forgot to, so I'm gonna post a video link to the YouTube video I watched to convert my sim card. It took less than 5 minutes to do with scissors, a pen, and a ruler. You can buy kits that will convert them for you, but the whole part of this thread is to do it for free, right? Yeah. But anyway its a very simple, painless, and free thing to get your nexus 4 up and going the second you get it.
Here are the videos I used to make the micro sim card:

Last time I checked, carriers give away micro-Sims for free.
Well, at least here in the US.
I did too but when I called T-Mobile and they said I'd have to pay $20, so I made my own.

$20 are u serious?! I walked into a tmobile store this week and said I bought the nexus 4 and need micro sim he gave it for free.

Well then I guess it varies from place to place. Either way they shouldn't make you pay and if they try just make your own.

I think what happened was, the customer service rep you talked to had a such a busy day, that he did not want anymore customers to come in the store
If you're already a T-Mobile customer you can walk in and they'll cut down your current sim card to micro format for you.
I walked in and out in 2 minutes. Now if only I had a Nexus 4 to use it with.
If I'd have walked into my network's shop and been told there was a charge I'd have laughed in their faces and cancelled my contract there and then.
Its free at my tmobile store... as it should be!
You're aware you can also buy either a standard or micro sim online from T-Mobile for only a $1? I bought mine Monday and received it Thursday just in time to use with my Nexus 4 today.
I've called the stores and they have told me anywhere from 10 to 20 dollars. People have said if you just walk in and ask they will give you one.
What I did was try to order one over phone made a note on my account so i just have to walk in and ask for one... any issues they can look at the notes in my account

I have never asked for a micro sim (until now) but they have always been free at my local T-Mo. I just called them to make sure, and I was told that they would charge me $10. They said that they give the sim for free, but a micro sim is $10.
I can guarantee you that I will absolutely not be paying them $10. If they want to charge me $1, like T-Moibile.com, sure. But $10 Eff No.
It might depend on your account, I just got back and there was no charge, even if they ask you to pay you just let them know you were told they were free by CSR,
if all else fails use the OPs cutting method.
I find the US providers are such SCUM! In England they will send you one for free!
I can't believe they have the nerve to charge you $20 for less plastic. Its outrageous
I got 1 for 99cents online from tmobile last week. free shipping + tax came out to $1.07.
I use a prepaid monthly account, so I got the Prepaid Activation Kit.
Called customer service and transferred my line in about 2 minutes.
Avoided the hassle of cutting down the regular SIM ... now if only my N4 was here !

Uh, did you read the thread? Most people report that it's free.
And yes, I've walked into a T-Mobile store the other day, asked them how much it would cost if I brought in a N4 to get a micro-SIM, and the employee, without any hesitation, said that it's completely free.
(I ended up buying a micro-SIM for $1 with free shipping from T-Mobile's website, for the convenience of not having to make a trip to the store when my phone arrives.)

I am going to use my Nexus 4 with straight talk and they don't have micro sims for Tmobile's network so I will have to cut down the sim they send me.

Well, damned Walmart cancelled my order. Chatted with CSR for 20 min, she didn't know what happened, so I ordered again and got on chat right away so it wouldn't get cancelled, but it did. Don't know if it was out of stock or what. Just a pisser. I have to call T-Mo as none of the stores in the Portland area have it yet. I hate waiting.
Auds.... I've read on several reputable websites that WireFly is selling it for $179 (with contract.... New or existing customer)... You might want to check that out.... Let me know how it turns out Good luck!

New customer, yes, great price. Make sure you go to wireflyfriends.com, not the regular wirefly website. Had to hunt around for that info, when I couldn't find it at the 179 price on the regular Wirefly website.
For existing TMobile customers, you must be upgrade eligible when you order. I placed my order, and it came back denied because I'm not yet eligible for handset upgrade. The non-upgrade price is much more.

I went through T-Mo retention and was able to wrangle a $150 price (plus a SGS3 for $180 and a free SGS2)! I'm supposed to be receiving all my goodies today. I had to check yesterday since the automated system kept telling me I had nothing in transit.

I wasn't going to divuldge the price, but I too, got mine for $149 through T-Mobile Customer Retention for $149... I think I did pay extra (in addition to the $149), for express shipping (well worth it.... Note was delivered to my front door 3-days later)

The otg adapters can be had for 2-3 bucks each on amazon or eBay, look around a little and you can find them cheaper but it really is one of the best accessories you can grab, nothing like being able to copy to and from a USB flash drive while out with your phone only.
Yep i love it already but i am scared to drop it. Doesnt fit on my hand all that well. Had it for one day, its rooted and installed ubuntu chroot check out my post from developer section. Otg work great with keyboard mouse combo

Or maybe one doesn't have enough cash upfront for the whole $350 so they spend $250 ($199 after mail-in rebate) on the phone? Exactly. I have the money and I am on a single plan myself. However, I refuse to eat the upfront cost when I plan on staying with T-Mo anyway and I don't see value in the value plan at all. I planned on getting it from the Play store But unfortunately I have a 7 month old who needs Christmas things and a 9yr old who made straight A's. That extra money can make or break it for a kid. I can get her a Nexus 7 with that extra hundred and change I am saving upfront. See what I mean? Not singling you out but I notice people seem to write off everyone as being "financially endowed" on here kinda. lol. I work for Google (part time and non-Android related) here in Atlanta and even I get NO perks. lol
So People like me don't mind the $250 cost from T-Mo. I am sure that's the case with a LOT of Americans on T-Mo. You have to prioritize yet still get what you want and work hard for. Play Store is a luxury if you can do it and I planned on it. But some folks can't do it.

To be clear on the release date...If you call in T-Mo you can order it on the 14th...Stores is the 15th...Only reason I know this is because I asked Loyalty Department because they offered me a discount due to my bad experience with Customer Care and my 7 exchange warranties on the HTC Sensation with little to no help to get me out of the phone. So they told me to call in at 6am EST on the 14th and order and they'll even throw in free next day shipping and waive the early upgrade fee for my troubles.

It makes no sense to pay 1.5 times for the same phone. Upfront or per month payment. Money is money.
Simple math: Assuming you are on classic plan
500 mins 2 gb data costs 59$
For value plan where you dont get subsidised phone its 44$ for the exact same plan.
15$ per month extra is 15*24months = 360$
So you end up paying 200 +360 = 560 for a 350$ phone. Infact if you are on value plan Nexus 7 will be free as you have 210$ to buy it.
We often neglect 15$ per month extra as we tend to see 350$ as a huge amount.

Tmonews, android police, and Google are my sources. All these sites say that the T-Mobile one won't be tampered with, being the same as the play store one. Again, look at the tech specs of the device on the play store. It clearly is pentaband, and it lists the frequencies. T-Mobile uses the aws band for their 4g, which is 1700/2100
I may have misunderstood your question, so if I did, I apologize

People who are going to the Sprint store to upgrade to the HTC One should know there is an issue with the system that is preventing the phone from being seen as discount available. They had to call the Sprint National Service Center to put in a manual discount on the account. I was told there were multiple people who tried and had the same problem.
The reason I am posting this is that you shouldn't expect it to be a 5-10 minute upgrade. It took over an hour for me. Loving the phone, so it was worth it.
I got mine without any serious issue. Anytime she tried to print off a receipt her computer would crash. They used another and all was well.
I had no issues.. they didnt get the $100 off instand but manager just over wrote it .... in and out in 15 min before work. Also if u mention that u get extra $50 invoice (currently online only) credit for buisness accounts... they might put that in too. I got that as well.

that credit towards the business account ?
Yes, basically a fam account under a tax id. But the discount should still apply to any account with any monthly discount associated with it, ie student. The credit goes towards ur next bill... its still something making my phone only $50 without htc trade in.

Enter any email ending with edu... and it will give u a coupon code SAVE50.... add the phone to cart and print the cart without actually ordering and take it to the store and they should take care of it.

It's $199.99 but if he's correct then you can get it with that extra $50 off at $149.99. There's no way to get an upgrade with the phone only costing $50 without the HTC Trade in. If so the Sprint store is only 1/4 mile from my work and Im heading over to buy mine and then Ill cancel it with Newegg.
I'm just looking for the cheapest price, though I don't want to wait an entire week so that's why I chose the Newegg method. Lucky enough for me, I dont have to pay the 36 activation fee. Thank you, Sprint business account.

the Save50 is what is being referred to it is a $50 credit applied to the account. But the $100 instant he is referring to and getting that as a transaction override instore is of even more significance if he managed to get the phone at $99 like a new customer rather than the $199 thru Sprint.com upgrade screw..
I got a new line.. ported in a number... so yes the phone is $50 before htc trade in and -$50 If I do the trade in.

bummer, sprint sure treat loyal customers pretty well don't they
I went in to the Sprint store this morning to pick up my preorder and I would say I had a very pleasant experience. I dont know if this was the $50 discount spoke about earlier, but without saying anything, the phone rang up at $149. I am upgrading 3 months early, so I paid a $100 UpgradeNow fee. I traded in my Epic Touch 4G for $75 and had the $50 Sprint gift card that I had to buy to hold my preorder, so all in all, I paid $139 in store today. Not too shabby for being impatient and wanting to get rid of my Samsung as quick as possible.
Also, she got my gmail address because she said they were going to send me a $25 Google Play Store card. Nice little bonus :good:
I went to a Sprint store earlier this morning. They had no dummy phones to look at, they had no phones to sell, and they also had no idea that the phone was even released today. (I'm guessing it wasn't a corporate store, but you wouldn't know from looking at it (it's just south of Houston, TX.).
I told them "Well, I know Best Buy has them; I just didn't want to drive all the way over there...".
He said "Well, I'm sure they DON'T, otherwise we would at least have a shipment scheduled or something."
20 minutes later, I was doing the paperwork at BB, with my slick new One in my hands...(It was 199+ tax on a line that was eligible for an upgrade.).
How do these so-called "Sprint" stores even manage to get any business if they literally have no idea of a device's existence on a release day?
Anyway, I'm happy as a clam with my white one, FWIW.
I have and probably will keep my Note 2, just to have, and to mess around with different Roms, and also for its screen size, but this One will definitely be my daily driver. The difference in the builds/the quality of the devices is like night and day.

You guys don't even want to hear my story. So I pre ordered from Lets Talk like some of you may have. I get the notification that it won't be here till sometime next week, so I'm like "OK I'll cancel it" as my local store had some in stock. Cancelled it. Went in this morning to a store right when the doors open. They pull up my account and say there's no upgrade for me. So I end up calling Lets Talk to verify if my order had been cancelled. Lets just say that I've been calling Lets Talk and Sprint from 9am-1pm trying to figure out wtf was going on. I finally decide to call Lets Talk one more time. The rep I spoke to said that the order was cancelled when the item was in activation and picking, so they had to manually deactivate the device. Around 130pm when I'm about to leave I receive a call back from Lets Talk saying the upgrade has been reset. Just to make sure I called Sprint customer service and the local Sprint store just to double check that the upgrade was there. Indeed it was so I rushed to pick it up as I had to be at work at 220pm. Got my phone opened it at work and that's my CRAZY CRAZY story. I hope none of you guys had to go through any of that.

This after trying for a week to buy online/through telesales with their bull**** shuffling between departments Easy Pay problems. I happened to call the store telesales had sent me to originally that had told me there was no such phone. Now they had them in, but after further reflection I decided they were so clueless the last time that I should try another store so I called the other one in town. First girl said they didnt have them in, but I called back and talked to a second person at that location and confirmed they they had them and that he'd done Easy Pay upgrades with that handset already.
Had to wait 20 minutes to be seen by someone, which is annoying but not their fault if they're that busy. Once I got to talk to a rep everythign was great, done in 10 or 15 minutes.
How much did you guys pay in store to get the m8 with easypay?

No payment, just the activation fee. Didn't bother trying to have that waived, that used to be easier but not so much anymore. (I chose to pay activation in-store, but it's usually just added to your upcoming months bill.)
You didn't have to pay sales tax or first month?

I had to pay 100 down plus the sales tax on the retail cost. Came up to about 150
I got mine yesterday from BB. I wanted to get it from Sprint, but they wouldn't let me use my upgrade! They told me easy-pay only with them...no upgrades! They really should re-think that as HTC can use all of the sales they can get. Would have been nice if they released it on all carriers 3/25/14, I would have got it then. No way am I gonna order online, I have no patience to wait! Love HTC and always buy their flagship phones, and that really skewed their sales numbers. Anyways, this phone is an absolute beast!!
Went online just to check. Apparently for an upgrade it's 100 down and a new customer 0 down. What bs. I'd just pay the extra and take my 2 year contract.

Yeah, I used my upgrade and they also bought my M7 (which was actually submerged in a mud puddle last month and still worked perfectly) for $125! Hell yeah, got out of BB paying about $87 with tax...not bad. Great build quality on these things!
I got mine in store Friday paid sales tax and 20 for casemate case

A working used M7 is worth more than twice that, you were robbed.

Well, I guess I get robbed every time I sell back my old phone for the maximum buyback allowed! I'm ok with it, I don't have time to try to sell my phone to someone for top dollar, especially knowing it was submerged in water. I'm not comfortable trying to rob anyone. I was just happy about getting the max! Plus a couple of the corners were banged up.

Got mine today. The guy at the Sprint store said it depends on your credit/whether you have a spending limit on your account or not. After checking some paperwork, he said it would be $100 down, but when he checked my account, he said I wouldn't have to make a down payment. Just had to pay the taxes.
Where did you purchase your T-Mobile Note 4?
Would you advice purchasing at T-Mobile's online store or at a nearby store in-person?
Please let me know. Thanks
I always prefer buying at the store because if you have a problem with your phone you can go and exchange it right away, and if you order online you have to wait until you get one shipped to you.
i purchased from costco and was grateful i did. i had problems with two note 4s . both having hardware issues. the second one i had also dropped within the first few hours of having it. costco still took it back with a good deal of unsightly blemishes . the third one has thus far worked perfectly.
Costco
Local T-mobile store, though I didn't get any additional freebies - later I found out they were offering $75 in free accessories which I was not advised of, when I brought it to their attention - I was told it was only valid at the time of purchase. OH WELL. I still love my note 4.
Costco...got a free car charger and car phone holder. Also 50 bucks in Costco cash...and...0 down when tmo wanted 420! I'll always buy there from now on.

You have bad credit if they ask you to put money down, they base it off all credit now, so if you have decent credit it'll only be 0$ Down.

Yup I've got horrible credit(thanks college). Costco doesn't care though which is nice.

That's not necessarily true.. My parents have good credit and paid a small down payment as well.. I think unless you are top tier in credit your down payment amount depends on your credit score, so if your credit is bad you won't even qualify for a dp lol. In which he obviously qualified so not too shabby
I bought mine through a tmobile corporate store. Local Costco doesn't sell any tmobile phones. Sales person tried to sell me cases and screen protector but I told him no since I was planning to buy from amazon (lower price and better delection). Tried to sell me jump but I also told him no. Went home and got a text saying I have jump. Stupid sales people...

I got the same run around from tmobile for the nexus 6. Went to Costco, and since they don't have the n6, got the note 4 for 0 down and couldn't be happier.
Not necessarily free, they would charge you monthly installments. It would be free when you leave the store, so be grateful. Lol
Another note, one of the store I went to was allowing me to choose unlimited accessories as long as the total added up to $100. I'd get $50 dollars back through my next bill.
You should always get the terms and conditions in writing, otherwise, its bs
