USB/Charging port problem - LG Optimus Black

I have been using the P970 for about 9 months and only last week I have not been able to charge my phone or connect it in USB mass storage.
The only way I can let the contacts meet is to push the tip of the contact to the right and it will charge. The tricky thing is this: connecting in mass storage is even harder and I have already installed the proper drivers. I think is purepy a hardware problem BUT is there any way to to fix other than sending it to the service centre?
I had to travel to the other side of my country just to the service centre and it had shifted somewhere else. But they do not tell you the venues on the official LG website.
Anyone else who experienced this problem? And flashing a ROM is technically impossible.
P.S I did search for a similar topic but was unable to find one that was my problem.
Regards.

[Q] Note does not "sleep" after USB storage is mounted and dismounted

Hi,
Anyone of you guys have this problem? After connecting a USB storage (USB flash drive) using an OTG cable and dismount it properly, the device would not go to "sleep" anymore. The only way to resolve this is to reboot. It happens in all firmwares released so far (KL1, KL3, LA1, LA4). Attached are some screenshots explaining the problem.
Nobody has this problem?
Yup, identical issue here. Didn't know what was causing this problem until you identified it. After using OTG cable for USB storage you need to reboot otherwise you won't get 'deep sleep', cpu stays at 200 MHz. I'm on stock LA4 with CF-Root LA4.
I don't have the chance to check since my cable hasn't arrived yet, but open up Settings > Applications > Manage applications and choose the Running tab, see maybe there's a process or service that you could kill.

I've checked Running Services, both before and after using the cable and nothing is added to the list at any stage.

I think the "UsbStorageUnmountter" is running under Android System process so we can't see it. BetterBatteryStats shows it clearly.
I'm trying to get Samsung informed about this issue so that it can fix it in the firmware, but so far is unable to. I went to one of Samsung Service Centre to inform them but the technician just shrugged and say they only know how to change the parts. I asked them to file a report to Samsung but they asked me to do that via the web site. I did that and the Samsung support team (via web site) keep asking me to go to their specific service centre for check up. I then ask them to replicate the issue on their own but they keep insisting to have my unit, most probably to factory reset it. Its a total "merry-go-round" here.
Anyone know how to get it through Samsung?
A bit of update, this problem still exist in the latest ICS 4.0.3
Seems the only cure is to reboot phone...
Sad news. Problem exists with ICS 4.0.4 too.

[Q] O2X not recognized when plugged in via USB port...

Hey guys, as the title says, I have a USB connection problem.
You see, when I turn off the phone, remove the battery and plug it in to the USB port while holding the vol down button, nothing happens! On the phone, the S/W upgrade screen appears, but smartflash does not detect my phone!
Also, when I try to connect my phone to my PC while the phone is running, it charges but I don't get any "bug" icon (from USB debugging), neither does my PC seem to realize that my phone is connected. But, it still charges my phone...
I tried flashing different roms and kernels, but nothing changes. I tried changing from CP USB to AP USB from the hidden menu, but that does not solve it either... I'm getting kinda desperate here :/
My specs:
ROM: CM7.2.0
Kernel: 2.6.32.55-cyanogenmod [email protected]))
BB: 1035.21_20110725
RIL: 0725
Both my computers are running Windows 7, one of them is running x86 and the other one x64.
Is it a software or hardware issue?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I've done some research on Google and found other people with issues that seem like mine, but none of them got any helpful answer! Hence this thread. MODS: If you see this thread and you know for fact that there are other threads on this particular issue, I would be eternally grateful if you could PM me or at least post a link with a solution before closing my thread! (21/8-2012)
EDIT 2: I tried most of the roms and kernels from the first two pages in Dev Section, none of them are changing anything. (6/9-2012)
EDIT 3: After trying different cables, I've come to the conclusion that there's something wrong with my phone's USB port, but I can't send it back for repair since my warranty is void. Therefore, my question to you guys is:
Is there any way to flash a completely stock rom (without root) without a working USB connection? (8/9-2012)
I have the same problem and couldn't find any working solution yet.
The phone charges normally but there isn't any notification for mounting the removable storage (which is something I really need to sync files), even after unchecking and rechecking the USB debugging option.
So, it's not a PC problem, this time is the phone that doesn't recognize the computer.
For me, it started after plugging a USB OTG adapter (to see if it fits) and I couldn't get it to connect to regular USB anymore.
Can anyone help us?
I have the same problem like OP with a 1€ micro usb cable.
Works perfect with the original one, so try some different cables (and usb ports).
just an idea...
Try different usb cables in different usb ports on different computers (unless you already done so). Try with stock rom. If it's still not working try to clean the USB port's connectors inside the phone, a cotton bud should do the trick (it might be good with a cleaning liquid to, there are some special ones out there for the job ask in your local hardware store).
If all above give no result we can almost assume that its a hardware problem. If you got warranty contact the place you bought it. If not there are mobile repair stores.
Hope it helps.
Yup, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a cable problem... I almost threw away an external harddrive that I thought wasn't working (I could read the files in it but I couldn't write any files into it!) until I tried a different cable and it worked fine!! Pretty weird right?
Also, problems with USB and cyanogenmod are not new to me, but latest temasek's roms have been working perfectly to me, have you tried any of those?
Best of luck!
Thanks guys, tried with 2 different cables in many different ports, but it's still not working. So now I know that there's something wrong with my phone.
But I can't send it in for repair since my warranty is void, and there's no way to get everything to stock now AFAIK...
What should I do? Any advice?
Yeah, LarsPT, I've tried temasek's builds from 131 to 135. None of them are helping my case.
i have the same problem. tried everything but not working. please help
Tried some other kernel?
Or is some driver missing? But i think there is no one needed :/

Yeah, I tried many kernels, but now I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the usb port in my phone
I had a similar problem and had to do a reinstall of the LG drivers and a bit of fiddling with the device manager.
Or that could be a completely different problem. I don't know.

I reinstalled the drivers many, many times. I'm a noob so I'd rather not toy with the device manager. But the problem seems to be the phone, and not the cable nor my pc, so yeah...

Help!
+1 for this post! had exactly the same problems. And yeah,I did try different LG drivers, different USB ports, and different PCs! I went ahead as far as spending a day over at our IT LAB at school to try and fix it,but after almost 20 PCs later,no luck, basically stucked at this friggin' phone charging via USB but not recognized. Was working fine before I rooted the phone though,so is there any way to restore it to out of box state ROM by using CWM? please do not suggest me using NVFlash or smartflash,or I will bang my head on the table.
hm... I had a similar situation with my O2x... I know theres a internal memory and a external!
I removed the SDcard and the PC would just charge my phone, it wouldent even recognize my internal memory. After I added the SDcard, it just starts to work.
Maybe stupid or idk, but try to change the SDcard and try again :-/
EDIT: does your phone recognize your SDcard normally ? Back it up and format it over your phone... something like that :-/
Hey guys, I've been searching all over O2x forum to see if someone found a solution to this problem, and seems like no one did, good news, I found one, i made a turorial but dont have the 10 posts to make a thread, sorry for this pseudo spam message but need to get the 10 posts to put my tutorial on a new thread

Xperia SP won't charge over PC

hi guyz, i bought my SP month ago and i had positive and negative reactions. SP has a lot of bugs, i hope that they are software bugs and that with new update, they will be removed. my biggest problem is that when i connect my phone to pc it doesn't show that it is connected, it isn't charging and pc companion doesn't recognise it. the funny thing is that i could charge (over pc) it 2 weeks ago and suddenly one day it won't charge. i tried with mass storage mode but it doesn't help too. it charges only when my PC is turned off but i don't need "another charger", i need to connect my phone with pc to transfer data. let's say that this doesn't matter if i can update my phone over wi-fi, but if i can't what the hell i'm gonna do ? i don't wanna go to repair it, it's a new cellphone ! i'm from Croatia and if someone knows : can i update over wi-fi or i have to connect it to usb ? because it says that in some countries it can update over wi-fi and somewhere it can't. i would be very grateful if someone could really help me, thanks !

how in god's name do you expect a PC to install drivers over Wi-Fi...
Of course you need to connect your phone with USB..
Do you have root or any app prohibiting the phone from connecting?

before you go and call someone trying to help you blind you should keep in mind they don't have to help you. that said try turning it off plugging it in then powering on while connected. you can every try pressing the button on the back to reset the battery.
Have you actually tried using another USB-port?
What you are refering to is an OTA, over the air software update, not a drivers installation
ok sorry, but i thought i explained everything.. i didn't say that i expect PC to install drivers, i said if i could connect my cellphone via wi-fi and download software updates without involving pc .. ? if i can, half of problem is solved..
hmmm, i'm not sure about any root app or something similar.. i have several games, whatsapp, soundhound, ringtone maker, instagram, file manager,di radio, accu weather, but i don't think that they are responsible for this..
i tried all usb ports. yup, maybe i said it wrong.
i'll try to reset it now.

hmm that's weird... if you can't connect with stock firmware, maybe it's a hardware problem? Does your PC recognize other devices on USB ports?
Does the phone charge while connected to AC adapter?

Edit: My guess is that's hardware related. Maybe too low mAh to charge with the USB cables? I have no clue

Thanks ! I went to store to repair it on monday, and they told me to come in 3 days to pick up the phone. so i did but they told me that phone is still being tested cause it's relatively new. i think that this is the hardware problem and sony's poor socket charger quality. we will see..

i knew that they are noobish only in software field, but i always thought that it's not a big deal cause with new update the most of the bugs get fixed. now they proved that they suck also in hardware field, maybe not for flagships, but definitely for mid-range phones or lower.. i won't forget to ask what was the problem, don't worry

Xperia SP USB and software update problems

It's not the first time that i'm posting this kind of problem, My SP was repaired 3 times in 3 months since i bought it, absolute piece of s...
How is it possible to pick your cell up from service centre, then you come home and you find out that they haven't connected it to pc/usb just to be sure that USB works ???? Everytime they were testing my phone, after removing old motherboard and of course when they put new and they didn't connect it to PC ??? Are they retarded ?? Anyway, i will terminate my contract with Tele2 and service centre, because this is just too annoying. What a dose of unprofesionalism, unbelievable.
Right now i can't do anything except using my phone and retards in service centre didn't update my software ?? So how am i supposed to do that when my pc can't recognize it, it even won't charge over PC ! Same thing like the first time when it didn't charge and wasn't recognized on pc.
Well is there any solution to update my firmware over the air or something.. Thanks, i'm very frustrated

Unofortunately, you can't update your phone "over the air", but you can try updating your phone using flashtool as this might be a software problem.

Broken type C port

I got my A2 for almost a year and it's been good to me until I noticed my expensive audio dongle is not working anymore, also i can't connect my phone to PC so I decided to buy a replacement port for it and risked opening my phone but still doesn't work. I am suspecting the ribbon cable is broken or something, EDL doesn't work
Does anyone have the same problem?
Please let me know what's your solution.
My bad I tried to wipe the phone, now I can only see TWRP without OS sad
I had my Mi A2 cannot connect to PC as well but the dongle still work perfectly fine and able to charging. If you look on other threads people have tried to fix this issue but up until now still no clear solution.
what I can recommend is to return it if you still have warranty or visit official xiaomi service center if there is any on your city.

Sadly we have no Xiaomi service center here in our city
I am wondering how much will it cost on repair
I cannot also risk going to local repair shop since this isn't a simple problem
