I would appreciate if anyone could share his knowledge in this matter. GNote doesn't show any signs of life except warming near camera when connected to the charger (to tell the truth it's warm even if it's not connected). Tried restarting, download mode etc. Nothing works. I'm waitng for the JIG I bought today but would like to know if this Omap Flash could save me or is it only for i9000 i9250 and such.
It didn't turn on after failed attempt to flash TWRP kernel using ROM Customizer (which worked for me many times before). Phone didn't went to CWM to flash kernel, simply went straight to GT-N7000 black splash screen and froze. When I tried to restart it, it switched off. And couldn't power on afterwards.
Try if odin detects it even if the screen stays black
Sometimes the fastboot loads which might just be enough to flash
If not you will need to wait for the jig.

Nope, Odin didn't detect anything. Does the version of Windows could have some impact on this? I'm on Windows 8 x64.
Not really, i supose the same windows machine detected it before ?
The samsung usb drivers are present ? (Kies installed)

I don't really remember as last time I used it was to root my sgn about 9 months ago. But I'm pretty sure I wasn't using Windows 8 only Windows 7. But don't remember which version - x86 or x64.
In that case best uninstall and reinstall the latest kies
and then try again to put the phone in download mode
after having started odin. Even if the screen stays black.
It's worth the try.
I suppose you also tried to take out the battery for a few minutes and put it back ?

Yeah. Did all of that (reinstalled kies just now too). But nothing works. That's why I'm curious about this Omap Flash. I don't like the idea of giving my GNote to service center to JTAG it. I still hope that JIG will help, but I also try to prepare for worse case.

Nope, when I connect SGN to my laptop there is nothing new in Device Manager. So I thought that maybe on n7000 it works a bit different or something, that's why I asked.

Thx. So at least I can exclude this option. It's getting on my nerves I would understand if the phone bricked during bad flashing but not like this.
Is it possible that my brick happened because I was flashing different kernel while the phone was charging (battery was on 42% while it happened)? But still... it booted a bit afterwards and stopped on GT-n7000 splash screen... I don't understand any of it.
No i often flash while charging.
The kernel on a note has it's own partition
Just like the bootloaders and the recovery do.
While flashing a kernel even if it fails, SBL1 and 2 and Recovery
shouldn't be affected....
There are people wo got out of this by leaving their phone without battery for 24 hours. But I have my doubts myself on that method

Worth a try. I was charging battery overnight to check if this helps, so I can also leave it alone for a day. Not much use of a brick anyway.
Well if it would change anything, the only explanation is that the powerchip is left in an instable state, not giving enough power to boot. Hence why it's running hot. Normally it is 'set' by it's driver inside the kernel. Maybe after 24 hours it will reset itself. As you say, it's worth a try even if it is a long shot.

Seems quite logical to me. Thx.
My SGN is still dead even after one day off battery. I got my JIG finally and this doesn't work at all. Odin doesn't detect anything, there is no sound of connection etc. Tested on two laptops.
I have one question though. Is there any possibility to erase my personal data on internal memory before I send my phone to Samsung service center? I don't like the idea that some totally unknown/random people would have access to my stuff.
Only by connecting it to a riffbox, but for that you would need to open the phone and loose your warranty. So I guess you have to believe that they got something better to do then to scrutenize your memory

Yeah, but the problem is I don't have papers on my phone. It was bought on an internet auction from a guy who bought it on police auction. Is it possible that JTAG repair would be done instantly without leaving the phone in service shop? Or is it a normal practice to leave a phone for repair?

Hi everybody, I searched everywhere for a solution but no luck
i love my note so much that if i couldnt fix it i think im gonna kill myself.
let me tell you the whole story, maybe you can revive my note again.
im a daily rom flasher, sometimes even 2 or 3 roms a day,
i wanted to flash ics stunner rom so i went into cwm recovery, flashed the zip file and wanted to format data\factory reset, but while the phone was formatting i accidently pressed the power button, the phone was stuck and didn't complete formatting, i took the battery out, put it back in and powered the phone, it was stuck at the bootscreen GTn7000 Galaxy Note.
I got into download mode and flashed a stock rom, but it was the same.
i downloaded and flashed other stock roms but it was stuck at the bootscreen.
then i wanted to flash a stock rom that came with a Pit file, i did everythig correctly, and Odin was stuck at the partition thing, for more than 15 minutes.
i unpluged the phone i pressed the power button, NOTHING!!
i officially bricked my phone which i worked so hard for months to get it.
i tried everything, even the jig thing, i couldn't buy so i had to make one.
maybe i did somethig wrong with the jig or maybe because i didnt solder it or the usb plug im using isnt working.
this may be relevant, i pluged the usb OTG in the phone and in the OTG was a bluetooth peice for computers, the piece had a light, and the light was ON.
Another thing that if i leave the battery in the phone for a while, the camera area in the back gets a little hot, my phone always did that meaning its still alive.
i may have written too much, forgive me but im really desperate.
Thanks in advance.

There are situations when your phone is working, but your screen is black.
Let's hope yours is one of those...Try this:
1. Don't flash Abyss. Download a stock GB Rom instead.
2. Charge your phone for a couple of hours. You need your battery for the
following steps.
3. After charging, take out your battery and wait 1 minute
4. Put it back in
5. Boot into Download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power) (you will see only black screen)
6. Count to 10
7. Press Volume Up
8. Count to 10
9. Start your PC Odin
10. Connect your phone to PC
11. Wait untill PC installs the necessary drivers
12. If all goes well, your PC Odin will flash the yellow light with COM info in it
13. Flash your stock GB Rom
If this doesn't work, you'll need to think of the ways of getting your phone JTagged or where to get a new motherboard.
Dude, if you have no way of repairing a bricked phone in your country then stay away from flashing custom ROMs!!!

Your phone is pretty much dead I'm afraid
Why didn't you bother to read stickies first?
It has been known for several weeks now that doing a wipe from CWM in a leaked recovery (I.e all ICS ROMs except cm9 official) will lead to a corrupted emmc drive ,thus a dead phone
And no ,you pressing the power button had nothing to do with it being stuck
The moment you hit wipe from ICS stunner's recovery your phone was dommed.
Anyway what's done is done ,now find an unofficial repair shop and replace your motherboard.
I hope this makes it clear ,and good luck to you.

You're not going to like this: I had to send my phone back to Samsung to get that fixed. Basically the charging port was shorting out, happens when stuff gets inside it (dirt, moisture, etc, from what I read). You could try cleaning it, but for me the port didn't break, it just acted like it was charging when there was nothing plugged in. So the JIG will work if it's supposed to.

I am wondering the same thing, mine got bricked about a week ago and I don't really know what to do with it
I'm a complete noob in dire need of help. I wanted to root my phone, and read the 3 procedures mentioned in the sticky thread. The 2nd one (nvflash) seemed very well explained and was sure to work with 2.3.4 so I decided to use that. As I was in my friend's house I used his pc and installed the drivers while my phone was connected in apx mode. Then I double clicked the "install internal xp" batch file which resulted in a black window with some texts, but seeing this my friend freaked out and closed the window before the process was finished. I told him he shouldn't have done that. I then disconnected the phone and switched it on. It seemed to switch on properly. So I then switched it off again and pressed and held the power and vol down switches to see if I got cwm. This showed LG screen for a few seconds and then the screen went off.
Now whatever I try to do I can only see the LG screen for a few seconds and then the screens goes off. No power on, no recovery, no nothing. And I can only attempt to even power on once, after the screen goes off I must remove the battery before the power button does anything again.
I tried to freshly nvflashing the recovery many times, but it made no difference. Does this mean my phone is bricked? Please tell me how I can solve this as I'm really worried.
NVFlashing the recovery again *should* have worked. So we first need to make sure you're trying to start CWM the correct way.
1) Unplug phone
2) Remove battery for 10 seconds.
3) Insert battery
4) Hold volume-down, do not let go, keep pressing it.
5) Press power button, keep it pressed.
If/when you get the second LG-logo, bluish halo, you can release both buttons, not before.
Nope, that was exactly what I was doing to access the recovery. I tried it again just now and it didn't work.
It just displayed the regular LG logo and then the screen went off. I'm not sure the phone completely shuts down 'cause if I keep it like that it gets quite hot and I can't use the power button again to try to power up. Only removing and re-inserting the battery gives me another attempt.
Is there any chance this is a hardware issue?
Hardly any chance this is hardware related if it was working before the first NVFlash.
Good, next step will be to NVFlash a complete stock ROM. You will unfortunately lose any data you might have on it, but that's the price to pay.
Go here, follow the instructions precisely, skip installation of apx-driver. Report back.

It works, yes, but is the original Froyo. This is just a way to get the phone up and running again.
Later you have a few choices. Either install CWM, then install you ROM of choice, or upgrade it to the latest for your region by using the LG Update tool.
EDIT. Oh, and btw, it is better to open a command-window and type the flash.bat command. If there are any errors you will still have them on-screen.
Thank you for all the help and support. I didn't get a chance to flash the rom till now (being on a vacation without a smartphone sucks). But I'll try it asap and report back.

I haven't flashed it yet. I've decided to do it after I return home. I'm at my friend's house for 2 more days.
Ok, bad news. I flashed the stock rom you linked. The process went pretty smoothly. After the window got closed and the lg logo on the phone was visible 2 times, I unplugged it and installed the battery. But switching it on wasn't fruitful. It just displayed the LG logo for a couple of seconds and then the screen went off (just like before, only faster). I tried repeating the whole process, even tried to nvflash cwm once again, but nothing happened.
So is it a hardware issue? My phone is no longer in warranty period, so a hardware problem would be really bad...

I don't know.
What would be helpful is to get a copy of the output you get when you NVFlash, it's simply the only way to verify that the flash process went ok. If you have an aborted flash it of course won't work, and may display the behaviour you describe.
EDIT: Btw, early on there were some ROMs which refused to boot properly unless the baseband was of an early variety as well.
If you feel confident the NVFlash has been successfull, smartflash an old baseband as well, see if it boots then.
Its hardly a hardware problem. As you dont have the warranty anymore, and the bootloader is probably corrupted, i would recommend a Jtag service.
Please, dont be afraid of hitting thanks

Now what's this "Jtag service"? (edit- I googled it and it seems to be a method of un-bricking stuff with specialized hardware or something, but I'm not sure I can have that done where I live)
Is there any way to fix the bootloader by myself?
@Trym- So, I should download a v10 baseband and flash it with this "smartflash" tool, right?

If it is you're only the second person in this forum to ever brick his phone. Anything's possible I guess. Some flash cells may have been damaged the first time the power was yanked. But then we should presumably get some verification errors during flashing.
Anyway, I'm at my wits end, and I really do hope you get it up and running, but I don't have anything more to contribute. Good luck.
Corrupted bootloader means that your cellphone simply don't know what to do when you hit the power button, due to the damage. As the cell phone can't turn, the pc can't recognize it. If your cell phone were a samsung, you could try to use a jig to have acesso to the download mode. But I don't know if it would work for a LG. You could try anyway.
And if you live at big city, usually it's common to have some jtag services.

Ok, so I took the phone to the service center today. The guys there said its battery terminals are messed up. They said replacement terminals are not easily available, but they'll try to find some. And of course I'll have to pay for it. I guess it's still better than using the phone as a paperweight.
What do you guys think?
Good luck I managed to mess up my phone like you too. I'm from India. But the difference was that I was covered by warranty. I managed to get a bunch of hardware replaced and was up and running again.
Today, my Note got extremely bricked, that I could not believe a phone like that could get so easily blown up.
I get this "Firmware update encountered an issue. Please select recovery in Kies and try again." message while it's rebooting every second.
I got this by making a huge mistake, using the re-partition option with the included .pit file, thinking it would factory-wipe the phone before downgrading... well, it didn't. Now, I can't barely access Download Mode or recovery because of, what I assume, low battery. It's charging now and it doesn't look like it. It reboots itself every 5 sec while it's plugged in. Before that, I used the JB leak and began to hate it because of it's damn instability. I wanted the stable, stock, ICS that came with it. I never had any problems like that on Xperia S.
Hell, even Odin can't ****ing save it because of the reboot-problem. I begin to think that, for the first time ever, I have to send this pile of **** back to Samsung and get a new one by saying, Kies ****ed up my phone.
Is there a solution that DOES NOT INVOLVE A DAMN USB JIG for this phone?
If you got the error in kies you could have followed the kies emergency firmware recovery option. Reflashing with a pit file is only for when you have triggered the emmc brick bug is my understanding. Look for the thread with the unbricking guides and hope for best. If not then it looks like service centre...........

Did you really read and combine this two sentences? Sometimes people should read the warnings (here about the reasons why NOT to use a pit) and follow them.
But first of all you should recharge the battery outside your device. When you're sure it's "reloaded" try download mode again and install a prerooted Stock Rom (like GB LC1 3-part) and check if you can install and after reboot into a stable device again.
Maybe it isn't so bad forever only for a few hours.

Wait, I have to charge it outside the phone? What kind of charger only charges the battery outside the phone?
just find someone with the same phone in your neighbourhood and charge in another phone...that's the easiest way..
I have flashed my note multiple times now and it never crossed my mind to use a .Pit file..
By the way, have you thought of leaving the battery out for a few minutes? I got that Firmware issue message before because the power went out while I was flashing my phone from my PC.. Then I just left it out for a few minutes and was able to boot back into dowload mode again
After the emmc brickbug:
The custom pit file may work but trust me after a few moths you going crazy with your phone... it freezes randomly on every rom and wont charge randomly. When you wake up.. phone frozen and battery is on 0% ... i lived 2 weeks with this then i gave it to samsung and they changed the mainboard for free now im happy
After being careful on flashing ROM based on our valued friends instruction, my Note got bricked somehow.
Rom installed: Slim Beans 4.3 build 2 with Raw kernel R4.
Everything works fine and smooth until on time, when i was using the phone with 19% batt while charging the phone hang. It was not responding at all so i pressed and hold the power button until it power off. Then i removed the charge and change the battery from a spare fully charged batt. Now the phone won't turn on.
Note won't go to recovery nor download mode. Does not show that its charging as no charging icon show up. I have an external battery charge though so i'm sure that my spare battery is fully charged. I tried to blindly perform the download mode and connect to PC with Odin and its not recognized. Even tried the one-click unbrick but would not recognize the phone. Any idea what else i can try beside using USB Jig or JTAG?
I’ve read about sudden death issues or reserve battery being depleted but non of the solution worked.
Anything else i might have failed to try? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Yes, nothing at all. it just died on me all of the sudden. I've never experienced even boot loop since flashing almost all sorts of ROM & kernel since CM 9 days, even jumping between TW/ASOP/CM/Miui roms. I've always been very careful in following the instructions reading since rooting my n7000.
now this happened. :crying:
Edit: And now i've read that they are about to release a Kitkat Omni ROM..
If there is no response from the phone at all.. then there could be board issues.. Try with a jig if possible. may be that can force the phone into download mode.. else repair center..

Yeah, that's my last resort. No choice then but have the board replaced.
Kitkat Omni ROM out!! I guess my flashing days are over.... for now... :crying:

Hmm.. I was looking to flash the same kernel with the new tech. Maybe look for help from the developer? On his topic was a guy who had the similar situation.
Looking to hear more from you on this.
ps. flashed the kernel once (r4) and the backlights were turning on and off (in settings were turned off), so i figured the kernel isn't supported. Slim Rc2
Well, i finally got a usb jig today and tried it on my n7000, it didnt work. Still no download mode for me, nothing. As i suspect this is already super bricked due to damaged mainboard.
The screen won't light up at all? When you are in a dark room, the screen isn't completely black, and that is the sign you need. It could be messed up partitions. Have you used pit file before?

Yes, won't light up at all not even in a dark room. I have not tried using a pit file before but would love to try it. The problem is i can't get it to download mode, not even with a jig. Tried connecting PC with Odin running thinking that i can do it blindly even without anything showing on the screen. The problem is that Odin can't recognize it.
Having trawled the net for a solution to this, i am interested to see if you have any luck with this, as my note did exactly the same yesterday, although mine is stock.
Completely gutted:crying:
Yesterday evening my phone was on the charger then it suddenly stopped and it is completely dead. It isn't showing any signs of life ever since, even if I charge it. It doesn't even show offline charging and I can't send it to Samsung as it's rooted so my warranty it VOID. It seems to me that it has Sudden Death Syndrome because it has been recently been switching off and now it's completely dead. What should I do? I'm pretty much screwed!

Well... I managed to just get it into offline charging. When I boot it up in normal mode it shows Samsung Galaxy S3 mini then after a few seconds the bottom lights flash for half a second and shut down. When I try to boot to recovery, model name then shut down. Yes it can just about make it into download mode.

If you get into download mode, go to sammobile en download the firmware for your phone and flash it with odin. if that worked, open stock recovery and do a fatory reset to make sure everything is back to stock... Then you can just hope it won't happen again.

I tried flashing stock recovery and ROM through Odin, it said pass but nothing actually seemed to fix and it still has the same problem that it shuts down after showing logo and when I boot to recovery it just shows TeamWin for a few seconds and shuts down so looks like I'm screwed and I have to use my BlackBerry :'(

Ok, can't help you, maybe search this forum for unbrick device. I know there are fixes that can be used with some bricks.

And I don't think Samsung will repair it as my warranty is void and I doubt if my parents would get me a new phone as this phone is only 3 months as well! And I have seen an unbrick thread and I tried it and it didn't work :'(
Well, I know how you feel. My charging port died once after I changed rom. Samsung asked me 200 for repair. Maybe you can give it a try and send him in... You never know Samsung loves you more than me..

Don't worry everyone I sent it to a repair shop (not Samsung) so I hope they manage to fix it.
Mine also dead

Have you any news about the problem in your phone?
Mine (i8190 with one of the mclaws roms from previous week) also appeared in the morning shut down and there's no way of starting it. It does not even vibrate when power button pressed, as if the battery was completely empty.
Tried with another battery and checked that the original one had charge, but no luck. It does not start (normal, download or recovery, makes no difference).
Any ideas?

Well mine was dead for a day then I plugged it into the charger (this was after a day and I left it on charge all night and it wouldn't start) and I held the power button for 10 seconds while it was on the charger it showed offline charging so I let it charge for a bit and then I powered it on and it seemed to be bricked so I sent it to a phone repair shop (not Samsung as my warranty is void). If it doesn't show any signs of life then it's bricked. If it comes to life then it is also probably bricked. I tried flashing many recoveries, ROMs, kernels and params and nothing happened.
In the S III Mini General forum there are topics about getting your phone back to stock so that it is covered by warranty.

I tried to flash stock ROM and recovery but nothing actually worked!
1. Did you follow the instructions in detail?
2. What does "nothing actually worked!!" mean??
Maybe you need to work out what is the problem and why it is failing. Then you will be able to figure out if it is actually fixable, and if so how to fix it. "Trying everything" doesn't really work unless you make an effort to analyse the results you get every time you try something.
You could try posting in one of the threads about taking the phone back to stock. The people who posted them might be able to help you, they are more experienced at this sort of thing.

I tried those solutions and they didn't work.
Kid, can you read?
What did you try? What was the result?
"didn't work" isn't a result, it's you giving up. Without even trying to find out why it didn't work.

I read all instructions, and when I flashed it via Odin, nothing actually changed even with the params!
