[Q] Old HD7 need face lift. - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I found out that apparently I still have my old HD7 and if possible just a few questions. I deal with android stuf fand have 0 understanding about Windows but I am sure you guys can help me out. My question really on is there a root or jb needed to install cfw and in general what is available cause I don't really see ROMs like I see in my SGS3 section.
So if possible instructions on how to root following HD7 , and I think my sw and rom is really old ... here are specs I hope it's not too old yet usually old rom means better "crackability"
OS Version 7.0.7004.0
Firmware revision number 2250.09.12001.531
Hardware revision number: 0002
Radio Software: 5.51.09.11a_22.31.50.09U
Radio hardware version A.12.0.D4
Bootloader version 1.20.2250.0(111584)
Chip SOC version 2.2.5.0
I can believe I just wrote all this numbers
Anyhow just a hint what people prefer to use cfw wise ...like with sgs3 people like CM10 ....thanks is there cm for hd7 ?
Thank you guys !

Hi,
Yes you can unlock the HD7 and flash custom roms and there are plenty of them available.
There are no CM version roms for the HD7 though but there are some really cool custom OS 7.8 roms and are the most current available, that allow you to customize the size of the home screen tiles...like WP8 with the new start screen. With a custom rom you can, gain root access to the device, install/sideload unlimited homebrew/xap's to the device through a pre-installed xap installer on the device with IE, and much more.
And your right, the older rom/Firmware is easier to crack...and because your bootloader version is 1.20, you won't have to downgrade the devices SPL at all which is the hardest part of unlocking the device.
So all you have to do for your device is -
1a. Make sure you have Windows Mobile Device Center installed for Vista/7 PC or ActiveSync for Windows XP. Connect the device to the PC and allow the Qualcomm drivers to install. This allows for the PC to communicate with the device and install XSPL and flash a custom rom.
1b. Install XSPL (RSPL/HSPL) to the device. (Which is required to install a custom rom)
2. Flash a custom rom of your choice.
Just follow Shadows tutorial from step 17 and on. Download and install XSPL -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295068
I would recommend to read through the XSPL post and make sure that you understand the process as not to damage the device.
Take a look at the rom in my signature for the HD7....it's great and the one that I use.
This is a great rom for the HD7 too -

Thank you very much for your answer. I do have a few questions.
1. Windows Mobile Device Center is designed for W7 Vista and XP right now I am on Windows 8 ( I did download and installed Windows 64 bit version anyway)
2. There are 2 version of same file I see 2 downloadable files DFT_XSPL_WP7FG1 and DFT_XSPL_WP7FG2 yet inside both folders file that I need DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH.exe is the same in both folders (i didn't check md5 but from looks of it it's the same file in both folders)
3. After connecting phone it starting to charge I see no errors, but after launching DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH file and clicking next few times it's saying following error:
[Error Description]:
Please make sure that your device connected to computer.
also make sure that right drivers are installed (they comes with WMDC / AS usually)
Try to connect device to different USB port and also you can try to reboot PC.
[Info]: USBWorkRSPL.cpp (184)
I guess because it's not designed for W8. Now I have a choice to do Windows 7 compatibility and stuff but I'd like to consult with you first. I also have Ubuntu handy if it's possible to do it in there ? If impossible I'll just use my laptop and install windows 7 or xp or whatever needed. OR may be VMware on Windows 8 ? ,,,, Anyhow let me know what is my next move should be.
Once again thank you very much !
---------------- UPDATE ------------------
WHAT a No0B I am. Forgot to go in to Power + VDown mode ...... all worked out just fine I have RSPL3.1.2250.0(119314) instead of SPL Next stop ...flashing I guess

Another update all good with HSPL. On Step 38 of guide you provided, You v8 looks good downloading it atm will report on whole thing.
I also see it's possible to install additional card in to HD7, but in that tri color menu on bottom I saw it said SanDisk SD 16xxxxxx MB is that mean I already have extra card inside or it's just reporting on internal memory that showing as SanDisk SD card ?

ROM Downloaded and extracted.
On step 42 Guide mention that I should use task29 to flash my RUU_signed.nbh yet I do not see it included in guide as download link or in ROM pack however I do see ROMUpdateUtility.exe
I will try to find task29 cause ROMUpdateUtility.exe looks very much like official HTC utility that I guess at this point will not help me at all.

Yeah this is not clear. Task29 is for erasing completely everything on the phone yet it does not allow to select .nbh file. IS there a Task29 that designed for HD7 specifically and is there a separate flashing utility ? I think I'll wait for now for answer cause this is kinda important step I don't want to do something I don't completely understand and that guide needs to be fixed cause if Task29 is not for flashing yet only does first part of erasing everything it should say use Task29 to erase and use so and so to flash your .nbh file.
I'll wait for answer, Thank you !

ALL DONE !
Okay a little confusion was on that step because there is actually a custom wrapper for HD7 of Task29 utility and about it erasing everything, well that correct BUT if you have HD7_RUUWrapper_29.exe and RUU_signed.nbh in same folder it just automatically selects it and flash it to device so there are no prompts to select RUU_signed.nbh it simply flash it ... make sure to start HD7_RUUWrapper_29.exe as administrator.
Well done, thank you. Face-lift is not complete.

Awesome... Glad you got it all figured out and enjoy your new rom!!
I seen in one of your posts that you mentioned upgrading the SD card. This is possible, the SD card is technically a part of the file system once installed, therefore it requires a hard reset when installing the new SD card in the device, which will erase all data and apps.
You have to do some disassembly of the back of the device (it's pretty easy) to access the SD card slot.
Your device has a 16gb SD card already installed. With the bootloader version 3.xxx the device will support up to 32gb SD card. I have one installed in my device.
One thing to consider is that WP devices lock the SD card for security reasons and it cannot be read or used by any device or PC other than some Symbian devices.
These are the only methods to unlock the SD card. Flashing a different rom to the device (like Dynamics 7 Mango version which supports custom cabs) before removing the SD card and using WP7 Cab Sender and the Storage Lock Cab. (this is the method that I used) It's a app/program installed on the device that allows the device to unlock or lock the SD card and then allows the SD card to be used or formatted. The other method is removing the SD card from the device and using a Symbian device to unlock the SD card.
If your interested in upgrading the SD card there is a tutorial here -

Hello once again ! It's been few months sense I installed Deepshining v8 and it works just great. And just want to know if there is anything new out there that I can use. No updates to Deep so I guess development is not that hot anymore. Well thanks a lot for help from before and let me know if anything good is out that I can use instead of Deep 8
Thanks !

[Resources] Flashing your First GSM Rhodium Rom (For Noobs)

PLEASE READ THE *FAQ* BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS!!
IF YOU HAVE A CDMA DEVICE THEN GO *HERE* FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO HARDSPL
IF YOU NEED TO HARD RESET OR ENTER BOOTLOADER YOU CAN FIND INSTRUCTIONS *HERE*
Before starting, backup anything you might want to keep after the new Rom has been flashed as all contacts, emails, texts, notes, Internet BookMarks WILL be lost!!
PimBackup is good and free (copy any mms attachments to your storage card or computer seperately)
*ONCE YOU HAVE FLASHED A HARDSPL ITS PERMANENT. YOU DONT NEED TO DO IT AGAIN WHEN FLASHING NEW ROMS OR RADIOS*
*DO NOT start another process while the flashing process is taking place*
*DO NOT click off of the status bar... Let it stay in the foreground*
*DO NOT let the Screensaver activate*
Any of these can lead to a bad flash and possibly brick your phone
*FLASH HARDSPL BEFORE FLASHING ANY CUSTOM ROMS*
1. YOUR DEVICE MUST HAVE AT LEAST 50% BATTERY POWER FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING EACH STAGE
2. FLASH HARDSPL
The Original HardSPL Thread is *HERE*
IMPORTANT: Each user gets 1 license, or perhaps 2-3 on request if needed (valid forever and works as transparently as possible, so it won't be a problem at all)
you can send a request for 1-2 more devices for private user (free) at http://support.htc-unlocks.com (ONLY at this link, not in PM).
NOTE1: This package is for Rhodium (Touch Pro 2, not the original Touch Pro) devices. CDMA-GSM worldphone version is not accepted (RHOD400, RHOD500 modelids), that will have its own HardSPL later. This HardSPL supports WM6.5
NOTE2: If you have Vista or Windows 7, update WMDC to v6.1 *HERE* first
Flashing via ActiveSync with USB Lead (thanks to OliNex)
1. Download HardSPL package from *HERE* and extract to an empty folder
2. Synch Phone with PC in Windows Mobile!!! It has to be connected to activesync or WMDC via USB cable and it must not be in Flight/Airplane mode (i.e. radio should be on)
3. NEW: Internet access is required as the program checks online for updates and license
4. Run Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.exe on PC, make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.). XP requires Admin logon and Vista/Windows 7 will automatically prompt to allow it to run in Admin mode, allow it. If you get an AntiVirus warning please ignore it, it contains no harmful code (just used a packer to compress it).
5. Follow steps as prompted in the HardSPL program. If this is the first run of HardSPL on a device after Hard Reset, you must select Automatic Flash Mode (first button in Welcome Screen)
NOTE: You should usually go for Automatic Flash Mode. The Manual Flash option is only to be used as noted below and you must only attempt the Manual Mode option if Automatic Flash Mode or SSPL-Manual.exe already put device in black screen. Any other errors triggered while running in Autoflash Mode will have to be fixed as instructed in the error message.
6. It will ask you to wait while it prepares for the flashing, press OK
7. Now it should go through without any error messages, if one does pop up then follow the instructions included in the error text. If no specific instruction is shown then ask for help in the thread, but this should not ever occur (as this means a really fatal error occurred)
8. At this point the phone hopefully went to a black screen (reporting version as 1.01.C-SSPL only using "info 7" in mtty), this is the SSPL version, which is temporary. Then RUU will instantly launch
9. NOTE: When RUU says it will Hard Reset do not worry, it is not going to do that. Also when it says the flash will take 10 minutes ignore that, it will only take a minute or so
10. SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done
*Go into BootLoader Mode (do a Soft Reset while holding the "volume down" key on the left side of the device. Keep holding the "volume down" key until you see tricolour screen which is the bootloader mode, then release it) and verify the screen shows 0.85.OliNex, which is the HardSPL version*
NOTE1: This is unsigned HardSPL. No limitations on flashing ROMs (except of course some Radio roms). Also this has overwrite protection against HTC RUU's overwriting HSPL with a stock one. See steps in the Original thread about how to reflash stock SPL.
NOTE2: Anyone having USB problems with the device after it enters SSPL mode, download SSPL-Manual-Rhodium.exe, copy it to the phone and run it. Once the screen has gone black, run the HardSPL package on the PC and select Manual Flash option.
*IMPORTANT* Make sure that the USB cable is plugged in and device is synched to Windows Mobile even if doing manual method.
NOTE3: Do not use this RUU for anything other than SPL flashing (i.e. hardspl or stock spl restore)!!! Nothing other than SPL's made by Olinex team (using OliNex custom cert, which is not public) will flash to make SSPL more secure. If you want to flash another rom then use shipped RUU or Rhodium customRUU if you want to flash cooked ROM.
3. DOWNLOAD AND FLASH YOUR PREFERED ROM
NOTE: Check the Roms Thread for any specific Flashing instructions. If there arent any then you can use the following guide.
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your computer
2. REMOVE SIM and microSD CARDS!!
3. Turn phone back on and wait until it syncs with your PC
4. Run the CustomRUU.exe from the Roms Folder (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
5. Follow onscreen instructions to set up your New Rom
6. Once phone has gone through the customisation procedure then replace Sim and microSD Cards
7. Turn phone back on and set up as required
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
4. FLASH PREFERED RADIO (OPTIONAL)
For more information about compatible Radios go *HERE*
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Sync your phone with the PC
2. Run CustomRUU.exe from the Radio's Folder and follow the instructions (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
Flashing via MicroSD Card
Use same method as Flashing a Rom via MicroSD Card
5. JOB DONE. Well Done YOU DID IT!!

FAQ for Flashing your First Rhodium Rom
FAQ
1. What Operating systems are supported for Flashing HardSPL?
Supported OS versions: 32bit and 64bit XP, Vista, Windows 7RC and later. win2000 was untested, and pre-RC win7 (lower than build 7100) is explicitly not supported. Also the program may be unstable or not work on Virtual systems, so it's recommended to try outside Virtual OS software. Also version verify: if HardSPL package says V120R in first Welcome dialog title (and version 1.20 in About box) it is the latest version, not some crappy beta/old version.
---------------------------
2. Why is it recommended to remove the Sim Card and microSD Card before Flashing?
microSD Card removal is recommended just in case any self booting programs or UC setup files are on there that might interupt or conflict with the setup procedure after flashing.
Sim Card removal is recommended because as soon as your phone reboots after flashing your phone will be live and if you get a call or text message during the initial setup it might interfere and ruin the setup.
If you flashed with both the cards in it should be fine as long as none of the above situations happened. Just be aware for future flashes
---------------------------
3. What are the different types of Unlock? (answer by DaveShaw)
The three stages of unlock are:
SIM: Allows you to use SIM's from another carrier. Can be done using codes or unlocker programs on xda-devs.
Security: Allows you to flash radios from another device (radios intended for your device only need Hard SPL) - It does other stuff, but this is all the casual user will use it for
CID: CID unlocking is an old concept, nowadays you flash Hard SPL instead. Hard SPL lets you flash any ROM, Splash or Radio (depending on sec unlock) to your device. The stock SPL's only let you flash signed ROM images that match the CID & Model of your device. N.B. the CID is the carrier ID (e.g. HTC__001, or VODAP100).
Also, SuperCID is setting your CID to a value that allows you to flash other signed (shipped) ROMs, even if the CIDs are different after removing Hard SPL. - SuperCID is performed by the Olipro unlocker.
---------------------------
4. What is the difference between ROM and RADIO?
The Rom is the operating system and included patches, tweaks and programs. The Radio is a seperate part of the firmware on the phone that handles all communation related matters such as signal, gps, bluetooth, camera, wifi and sound. Newer Radios to include improvements or fixes in older version, or even just to compliment an existing Rom or network so a newer Radio isnt neccessarily better. Radios also need to be matched to the correct Rom so you cant just put any Radio and Rom together.
---------------------------
5. How do Stock ROMS differ from Cooked ROMS?
Stock Roms usually have extra 'bloatware' added which take up extra space on the phone. Custom Roms are stripped down to provide more space and most are tweaked to provide a faster more stable Operating System. Every chef is different so you have to look around the forums to see which Rom is best for your needs.

Too true....I remember how scared I was when doing my first flash on my Wizard though. Somethin like this at the time would have put my mind at ease (would have probably scared me to death even more at the same time! ).
It's funny how, with experience, that fear fades away and you just flash as if you've been doing it all your life. Some people will learn the hard way...others will read, read, read like I did many years ago! (as they most definitely should)
Nice post mskip.
When flashing a new ROM via Active Sync, is it really necessary to remove the SIM-card and SD-card? I didn't and the flashing did go well. No problems at all!
Just extra precaution against wiping your cards out or God forbid getting incomming phone signal during flash and having that interfere!

Unfortunately flashing HardSPL on a Rhodium is a very in depth process and no shortcuts can be taken for the safety of the phone. The purpose of this guide is to give someone the whole process from flashing HardSPL to changing the Rom or Radio and save them having to keep 4 or 5 screens open with all the different information.
I remember when I first flashed my OLD Hermes many many years ago (god that makes me sound old haha) I was trying to pull all the information I needed together and ended up with over 15 pages all with different information and different methods on how to do the same thing and it took months off my flashing life.
I only made this up last night and the HardSPL information is taken directly from the creators thread. I will go through the HardSPL section and try to "dumb" it down so its easier to understand but if people want to customise their device then they HAVE to be prepared to follow all the steps to the letter and not complain that its too hard or too in depth.
This is the third one stop flashing guide I have written and the other ones have helped thousands of people flash their phones, the fancy fonts and colours are just their to help point things out
Any improvemants or additions are welcome (although my 10000 character limit has already been reached so if I add something then something else has to be taken off)

Once you have HardPSL on your phone then you are free to flash Official or custom Roms as you desire.
Im sure the Touch Pro 2 is supported but if you are unsure in any way then ask in the developers thread.
Ok I've got a question. In the starting post is sais that the HARD-SPL is permanent. Is it really permanent, or can you change the HARD-SPL later on when updates are brought out?
I guess it is permanent in a way that it won't be removed after you reflash you device. But it can be altered right? (Because there are updates brought out for HARD-SPL also

It means it cannot be replaced by a stock SPL. There is a flag in the Hard SPL to prevent it from being overwritten. You must use SSPL to change the SPL version - PS the relocker in the Hard SPL thread will revert you to Stock SPL if need be.

Sorry Master
When I was writing the guide I didnt see anything about microSD Card flashing so I thought it best to leave it out. Plus I knew that you would pick up anything I left out
I will add it to the Rom and Radio flashing steps but I totally maxed out my post already. Any chance you can bung me another 5000 characters I promise I will pay you back next week Failing that I will have to do some drastic rewording or spread the guide over the first 2 posts

[Q] This is depressing, stuck on SPL [email protected]! Trying to flash to a HSPL ROM

Hey guys,
New to this whole world of flashing devices and have been browsing for days trying to learn and understand all the different terms associated, so please forgive me if i say something that doesn't make any sense
Trying to upgrade my HTC Touch HD (Blackstone), Rom version: 1.14 WWE (put my phone into bootloader and the SPL is 1.14), was trying to update my phone which is when i came across cooking roms and updating them via flashing, have read Digital Outcast's Dummies guide: flashing 1.56+ roms [v 2.0] - [HSPL][USPL], decided i wanted to follow the HSPL which is when i came across
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671277
and wanted to install the 'blackSTONEhenge HyPer MaxSense' Rom, said i needed RADIO ROM version 1.14 or above, my stock standard HTC has RADIO Version 1.09, which meant i had to try and flash my devices radio rom.
What im not sure is this HSPL, i dont fully understand if im supposed to try and get/put HSPL on my phone before i do any flashing/ im not sure if HSPL is the 'thing' that allows flashing to become capable...
If someone could help me out as i have been browsing the forums for a few days and its driving me nuts as usually i would have worked it out by now!
Cheers,
Scott

dont get confused
1.just download "HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.zip" from "Attached files".
and unzip in a empty folder.
2.connect your phoneto pc via active sync.
3.run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe, click yes/next/ok(sorry dont remember what was it, you phone will restart in bootloader (three color screen and hspl will be done automatically.
thats it.
now flash any radio or rom of ur choice.
nice explanation, just let me add some newbie information:
basically, what you are facing, is flashing three things:
1. you flash hspl, which means that your device will be unlocked for roms of all carriers and all countries, and you will be permanently ready to switch roms any time you want, as it remains in your phone, whatever you do (hard reset, flashing a stock rom, whatever).
2. the radio rom, the radio is the bridge between the windows mobile operating system and the hardware. this is responsible for the fact, that for example switching on wi-fi is done with the same button on any device, independent from which wi-fi card is actually installed. it controls wi-fi, gsm, 3.5G communications, bluetooth, camera and sound input and output. the latest radio for the blackstone is 1.17 (.25.09 i believe). it offers the best quality in all beforementioned services, but drains slightly more power than previous versions, due to higher performance.
as there is actually yet another stepping stone between the OS and the radio, rilphone.dll, it is advised to use a new radio with the cooked roms offered here. most chefs integrate a new rilphone.dll in their roms and they work best with the corresponding radio rom.
3. in the end, you will flash the actual OS rom that changes your operating system, possibly the language, the manila version and everything else. just like formatting your windows xp pc and installing windows 7, your apps, settings and personal information (in this case contacts, appointments, sms...) will be gone.
for it to work, you must flash hspl first, or your device will be unable to accept actual roms, and then proceed with the radio, and before flashing the actual OS rom (in your case blackstonehenge), you should perform a task 29, either you can flash it (see task 29 thread), or use mtty or use advanced ruu, which has an extra option to do it.
this was just a basic introduction to make it easier for you, to understand, what you are actually doing, when attempting to flash, the rest and all the steps to take are in the tutorials, i just find it easier to do, when you actually know, why you do certain steps, helps you remember for the next time.

Chef_Tony
Ok thanks guys for the responses, and especially chef_tony's, cheers.
P.s. Sorry for the complicated response below, its hell to read
I have tried to follow:
Dummies guide: flashing 1.56+ roms [v 2.0] - [HSPL][USPL]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
And it hasn't worked, when I follow the HSPL steps I get to step (HSPL2c) and it just sits on 0% and give an Error [262] code (this is the section where we try to flash Blackstone_156OliNex to the device.
The tutorial says: run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe, which then tells us to establish an activesync connection, which i think means we have to get the bootloader mode to USB, in order to get the bootloader to USB Mode I have to connect my phone to the pc before running the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe and leaving it connected to the pc to A) establish the activesync connection(Windows device centre doesn't register the phone as connected whilst in bootloader) then B) get the bootloader mode the USB.
So what i have done:
So the phone is connected to the pc, activesync registers the phone(leaving the phone connected i then),
place it into bootloader (shows USB Mode)
Then run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe (i run it as an administrator)
the program tells me to establish an activesync connection (Windows device centre doesn't register the phone while its in bootloader, which dummies guide tells us to do), i dont know how to establish an activesync connection whilst the phone is in bootloader, so anyway i hit next, next and just click update the rom, and it just sits at 0% and give an Error [262]
Im not sure if the reason for this error is because i haven't put HSPL on the device, im still not 100% sure about the whole HSPL, i think all i have to do for this is run the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe ?? then is the HSPL issue sorted?
Thanks again guys,
Scott

easy thing. i had the same issue when attempting to install hspl for the first time. as described in the tutorial post you mentioned, i went to the part troubleshooting:
Troubleshooting - manual SSPL
- Boot up your phone.
- Copy SSPL-Manual-TouchHD.exe to your phone. In a file browser on your phone browse to where you copied SSPL-Manual-TouchHD.exe and run it.
- Your phone will reboot into its bootloader and should show SPL v 1.07.OliNex.
- When it shows USB at the bottom then run HSPLWrapper_blackstone_156OilNex.exe from your computer again.
- Go to step HSPL3 if successful.
with this extra step it worked for me, because installing sspl directly on your phone, it prevents 262 connection errors and unlocks the device temporarily which makes it easier to install hspl.
Thanks again chef,
ok i connected my phone, then copied the SSPL-Manual-TouchHD.exe to my device, run it and it loads into bootloader, shows spl 1.07OilNex, doesn't show USB no matter how long i wait, i unplug it and don't get serial mode either
Tried re connecting it and still no USB or serial mode comes up :\
I had tried following the troubleshooting tutorial before i posted on here for help
Should i try running the HSPLWrapper_blackstone_156OilNex.exe without USB mode showing?
and really appreciate all the help,
Scott

Tony and Scot enjoying the posts and hoping to pick up a few pearls of wisdom before upgrading. I have played around with my Touch HD and had it dual booting with android from SD card. For some reason I can no longer use my camera in wm 6.1.
I can not find camera.exe cab and was considering upgrading to wm 6.5 to see if that solves the problem.
Billy, im just stabbing at the dark here, but im guessing if you do flash your device to wm 6.5, during the installation of the upgrade, you're .exe for the camera will be re installed and should work again. Gdluck
Upgrading to wm 6.5
Probably right Scotty, I just want to make sure I don't brick the phone for the sake of getting my camera to work again. Have you managed to complete the upgrade?
Haven't yet, just waiting for some words of wisdom from tony
I also had Error [262] when tried to apply HSPL last week.
But, I applied USPL path to install HSPL!
So I entered USPL and started HSPL install.
Then process finished without any problems.
And it's working excellent... now on the 3rd ROM since appliing HSPL...
good idea, the most important thing is to get a stable connection for the bootloader, and if uspl makes it easier to install hspl, i would definitely give it a try. as posted before, depending on your soft branding, first installing hspl can be a hassle, however, once it's done, you never have to deal with it again (which is also, why many long term blackstone users including myself hardly remember, how to go about changing the spl).
also, since you mentioned that in sspl, you didn't see serial or usb in bootloader mode, make sure that your connection is actually stable. in bootloader mode, windows needs another driver for the device from what is used to sync the device (when it is switched on). especially, when using windows vista or windows 7, you should have a look at the thread "[tut] dummies guide: updating htc sync drivers".
especially on windows 7 x64 it can be quite a lot of work to get it running, because these drivers are not digitally signed, so you'd have to sign them yourself, which requires permanent test mode and comes with a watermark on your desktop, which, in turns, can be removed again. in that case, i would advise you to try a windows xp pc first to get your device up and running and you can deal with this later.
so, in short form:
1. in case you use windows vista or 7 and haven't dealt with the driver yet, have a look at the link to the tutorial or use a windows xp pc with activesync installed.
2. if you are positive that drivers cannot be the issue, or you successfully updated them, step forward and try the "uspl to install hspl" method, bodisson suggested.
CRACKED IT! dont have time to type how but ill post what happened once i wake up, thanks for all the help guys, you guys are legends!
Many thanks to Chef_Tony for his help in this matter. You've a lot of mod like qualities mate
Scottygrot, I'm glad you got it sorted in the end.
I'm closing this thread now. In future please post all flashing issues in Dummies Guide thread

[Guide] Making Goldcard for Stock Rom Flashing on HTC Incredible-S S710e !!!

This Page is a full Tutorial of how you can Make a Goldcard For your Incredible-s s710e to flash a Stock rom in your ANDROID Mobile Phone for Upgrading Purposes. If you try using the RRU Vivo Update exe Then it will give A CID (CID = Carrier ID) Error. To prevent this Error and Flashing the rom For upgrading , Use this Tutorial To Update/Upgrade your Phone's Rom via the "Goldcard" . All the best .
Information :
This guide explains how to Change your default rom to a new Rom by the use of a GoldCard . A GoldCard is a special SD card which, when inserted into your device, allows you to flash RUU files with a different CID to your own device. For example, if you own a Sprint/T-Mobile/Verizon branded device, this will allow you to flash a Generic ROM and Debrand it .When you CID unlock, you are making the phone so its not "locked" to a specific carrier's rom. This method is also applicable to Unbranded (Carrier Unlocked) devices too. I have Performed this Method for UPDATING The HTC Incredible-S S710E ... And it WORKS !!! .
This method is used to Upgrade/Downgrade a Generic Rom version . For example if You have bought a Device with Rom version Froyo and you want to Upgrade it to Gingerbread , Then this method will help you to do so.
This method is to be used on S-ON Devices , S-ON Means that the Nand of the Device is locked and you cannot flash Custom Roms on the device , as it Does NOT Have The Super User root Permissions. If you have a Device with S-OFF Then you can flash Custom Roms to your Device.
If you see "VIVO PVT SHIP S-ON RL" then your device is a locked Device and you cannot root this device. And you cannot load Custom made Roms in your Device . Android developers are trying to unlock the Nand but its not yet done.
How to check wether Your Device Is S-ON / S-OFF :
1. Go to settings tab On your Device and then Go to Power Options and Uncheck the "Fast Boot Option" .
2. Power down the phone (Shutdown) .
3. Now Holding the Volume down button Press the Power Button , You will Boot into the Bootloader Option . On the top of the screen you will find the info .
This Post deals with the Upgrading of the device not Downgrading but i will surely write about Downgrading in my other Post .
Be careful while Using this guide. I will not be responsible for any Bricks . I have tried this and it worked for me fine and on my first try .
What do you need to Perform This Method :
Spare microSD card (2Gb/4Gb/8Gb) , Any brand any speed. I have used MicroSD Card 8Gb Class HC 6 and HC 4 , Both worked For me .
A PC Running windows Operating System (recommended) , 32 Bit/64 Bit Any - No bar . I have used Windows 7 64 Bit and 32 Bit Both and it worked fine on Both .
Latest HTC Sync software installed from the HTC Website. The link can Be found Here : http://www.htc.com/in/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=389&cat=3&dl_id=1073
HTC Sync is required for drivers only .
HxD Hex Editor, available for download in any language comfortable for you from HxD website. The link to the download is Found Here :http://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD
HxD Hex Editor used for Creating the Goldcard .
You will need a Goldcard Helper Application installed in your Android Mobile Device (This application Helps you generate a so called "Goldcard" by reading your MMC card's CID and by automatically Reversing it. This information can then be used as input for the PSAS goldcard Generator webpage) . This application can be Downloaded from the Android Market . If you do not have a working internet connection in your android device , or your internet connection on your device is slow (No 3G/Wi-fi) then you can also download it from Here :http://www.ziddu.com/download/15152969/GoldCardHelper_2011-05-28_02-57-14.zip.html
Important : Install the Goldcard Helper tool To the C: Drive of your Android Phone i.e Not on the memory card but in the Phone memory (Consumes Very Little Space).
.Net Framework 2.0 (Usally Inbuilt in Windows 7 64 Bit / 32 Bit .) .
Thats all you need for making The Goldcard .
Step by step instructions : For making the goldcard (Simplest Method - Tried and Tested Working) :
Connect the memory card via the Phone (Use data mode/Disk Drive Mode , Not sync mode ) . Or you can also use a Memory card Reader if you have the MMC SD Card adapter for the Micro SD Card .
Format the microSD card to FAT32 format (Do not format it in NTFS Format ).
Now open the Goldcard helper tool Which you have Already downloaded and installed it in your Mobile device . And click Goldcard Helper Icon In your Menu Screen .
The Goldcard Helper tool Will Automatically generate the Reverse CID Values for your MMC And The C drive of your System. Use the first MMC Card reversed CID Value , NOT the C: Drive Reverse CID Value .
Use the first One "Card: mmc2"
The image Here shown is What you will see when you launch the Goldcard helper tool on your Android Mobile . The CID Value is Reverese in Nature so you need not to reverse it any more . Use The first CID Value (Card:mmc2) . The CID Value will look something like this :
00544b5107943247039c7d22bd005553
Now Visit The Revskills Page Here : http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard
Enter your reversed CID number and create your goldcard image, which will be e-mailed to you on your provided E-mail Adress within 15 Minuites .
Download the Image File sent To your Mail Id And save it in any location You want.
The Downloaded Image from The Email Will Help you to Make your Goldcard For Flashing Your HTC Incredible-S S710E .
Now Open the HxD hex editor. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you must run the application With administrator Previledges (Run as an Administrator).
Go to the 'Extra' menu and select 'Open Disk'. Under physical disk, select Removable Disk (your microSD card) , now uncheck 'Open as Readonly' and click OK. Note that you should select physical disk NOT the logical disk.
This is important (Choosing the Physical Disk NOT The Logical Disk) else you will not have a Goldcard And your Android Phone will not Load the Image File That you place on your Goldcard MMC !
Now Go to the 'Extra' menu again and select 'Open Disk Image'. Open the goldcard image that you received by email. When prompted for 'Sector Size' , select the option - "selecting 512 (Hard disks/Floppy disks)" and then click OK.
You will see two tabs in the Hex editor window - One is your removable disk, the other is your goldcard image. Click on the goldcard image tab. Go to the 'Edit' menu and choose 'Select All' option then select the 'Edit' menu again and select - 'Copy' . The selected sectors will be selected .
Now Click on the 'Removable Disk' tab. Highlight offset (line) 0000000 to offset (line) 00000170 (include the 0000170 line too), then click on the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste Write'. It will copy Down on to your Mmc card .
Click on the 'File' menu and select 'Save', accepting the warning.
You now have a goldcard .
To Test what we have done : After doing all the procedure stated above. Remove the memory card and then Insert back the memory card to the Phone Or the MMC Reader and check wether it opens up. If the card Says Format Then The card is not prepared , Repeat the steps above to Prepare your Goldcard .
After the Goldcard is Prepared , Rest is very Simple. Download the Rom You want to flash (I will be Posting the Exact image files extracted From The RRU's in my subsequent post's) . If you want you can Download them from there.
I will also Post How to Use The rom image in a Gold Card to Upgrade Your Android Mobile Device In my later Posts .
HAPPY Upgrading Using the Goldcard . !!!

Hey,
Thanks heaps for your post. I'm sure a lot of users are going to find this extremely useful.
I have a question...may seem silly but just confirming...
So I can use this method to basically rid my phone of carrier "bloat"? and have the latest stock, clean Gingerbread ROM from HTC on my device?
And still be able to update periodically OTA?
Thanks in advance.
(HTC Incredible S "S-ON"...unfortunately...)

Yes . This method will relieve you from using your Carrier specific Rom. You can install any Carrier Rom / Non carrier specific Rom with this method... keeping in mind that the Rom that you are using for flashing is a Stock Rom (Rom provided by HTC - Unadulterated / Unmodified) .
After flashing any Rom of your choice you can get updates OTA . No problems .
This method will Debrand (Relieve you off carrier specific Rom) Your phone's Rom
Thanks heaps for your reply.
One last thing, can I go back to the Carrier ROM? and/or back up my current if I have any dramas?
Thanks again.

Sorry for the late Reply.... I was out of Town ....
Now here is the catch... If you just remove your "Bloat" and again want to go back to bloat in times of need ..... Be sure to flash your firmware with the same version.... That is ... If you have 2.2.1 bloat then upgrade to 2.2.1 Stock rom Withought Bloat....
If you upgrade to 2.3.3 From 2.2.1 Then you cant downgrade.... as 2.3.3 uses a higher radio version than 2.2.1 so downgrade is not possible for the Phones with S-ON ...
Happy flashing with care
Great progress!
I'm guessing this process only works for the S710e and NOT the S710a (Bell)?
Thanks for the effort

The system specs are the same for S710e and the S710a... But if the nand locking differs.... which i suppose is not then i think the phone can be flahed with this technique
Its not that the nand locking plays a part in this process.... as this process does not involve Rooting
It is basically a loading technique for a new rom into the system so.... it supposed to work.... on any Incredible S S710E/A with same hardware straints ...
No worries at all.
Thanks again mate. You've really given me some relief here. I'm hoping removing my carrier bloat will improve battery and stability.
Yeah I'm running 2.3.3....so basically what your saying is, don't go above that with any ROM?
How do I flash my current?
Cheers.

Actually i was saying on the context of your phone having Froyo 2.2.1 ...since you have 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) by default ....then just flash any rom with radio version same or higher than the present radio version of your Rom .....
You might download the rom from the thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033922
And flashing technique from :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003457
Abd shell commanding is not required... thats a diffrent process....
Follow the part of extracting the Rom.zip file from the RRU.exe. And renaming it to PG32IMG.zip ....
And for starting the Flashing.. just hold the power button and the volume down button ..you will enter bootloader mode... Follow the on screen instructions Then its done !!!

Oh ok. Thanks again mate. So the base-band has to be the same or higher as well as the firmware version? Sorry if I'm a little slow with this, I'm all over other stuff but have just come into the Android world and even at this stage am loving it...just wish I could root this phone instead...sooo much easier and so much more freedom... haha
And I can download the clean, factory HTC ROM from HTC directly??
Thanks again for your time and patience...
HI there,
I'm keen to give this a try to get rid of the Optus stuff. I do have a question, apologies if it is a silly one:
Is doing this going to erase all the apps / Internet bookmarks / messages etc?
Thanks for the thread and advice.

Flashing a new ROM using an official RUU installer always wipes everything clean in the phone's internal memory. So, yes.
Finally...
After reading this thread.
My Goldcard seems to be working.
My problem was the Goldcard Tool I used to retrieve CID is giving me the wrong CID. Thus CID incorrect.
Using the Android app is more helpful.
Thanks to TS.

i had that same ROM, don't waste your time trying alpharevx on that, you'll need a gold card and download an WWE RUU and try it again.

[Q] Need someone to guide me and explain

Hey guys!
I have just bought myself a HD7. I bought it in Sweden... but it´s not purchased in Sweden from the beginning. It´s the 16gb version and as I understand that one was never sold in Sweden. Also... there are only two system languages in the stock ROM... English and som other strange language. I don´t know if any of this matters when it comes to flashing... but just in case.
I´m no stranger to flashing and modding... but I come from a Omnia 7 and that baby is almost foolproof. With a HD7 I really feel unsure...
This is what I need help with:
I have tried to get around this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295068 but I really don´t understand where to start. I would really like for someone to tell me exactly what to do and why. My goal is to flash one of the 7.8 roms from the forum.
Here´s my specs:
I don´t have a Y Cable!
HTC HD7 T9292
OS 7.10.8773.98
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.51201.707
Hardware revision number: 0002
Radio software version: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Radio hardware version: A.102.0.D4
Bootloader version: 5.12.2250.0(139198)
Chip SSOC version: 2.2.5.0
I use the latest Zune on a Windows 7 x64 machine (Windows 8 actually, but I guess that doesn´t matter. It worked fine on the Omnia)
I´m really sorry for asking something that is probably described in the forum a hundred times Before... but I feel like I need a babysitter, here.
Thanx in advance!
Manneman, Sweden
Your device is a HTC Asia WWE operator.
Unfortunately there are only 3 methods to downgrade SPL 5.xxx and 2 of them will not apply to your device, so you will have to use the goldcard method to downgrade your SPL to at or below 3.xxx (which is required to install RSPL/HSPL) with a stock/shipped Asia WWE rom.
1. Download this rom, goldcard tool and the goldcard image.
https://rapidshare.com/#!download|8...02_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10U.7z|9310|0|0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597837
2. Either make or purchase a Y cable from online.
3. Extract the contents (use a program like 7Zip) of the rom to a new folder on your desktop and remove the Ruu_signed.nbh file and rename it to SCHUIMG.nbh (has to be capitalized when renaming)
Use a 1gb or 2gb SD card wiped and formatted to FAT32 ( larger cards can work but need to be partitioned to 1gb) put it in the card reader and connect to PC, place the SCHUIMG.nbh file on the SD card. Run the goldcard tool, click on the "Select image" button and then choose the goldcard image, then click on the "Patch MMC" button and wait for confirmation that it had mad the SD card and goldcard. Disconnect the card reader from the PC and connect it to the Y cable and connect the power source to the Y cable, put the device into "USB host mode" and then connect it to the Y cable and the flash process should begin.
Once the SPL is downgraded you can then install RSPL/HSPL. I recommend to read through the XSPL thread.
Download the XSPL.rar Revision #3 by DFT and extract the contents to a new folder on the desktop.
Put the device into bootloader mode and connect to the PC, run the RSPL wizard and install RSPL first. While the device is still in bootloader mode and RSPL has been successfully installed then run the HSPL wizard and install HSPL.
Download the rom of choice and extract the contents to a new folder on the desktop.
Put the device into bootloader mode and connect to the PC. Run the Ruuwrapper provided with the rom, follow the prompts on the screen and flash the custom rom and enjoy.
If you have any questions or problems just let me know.
Thank alot for your time!
So... the first I need to do is get a USB-cardreader and a Y-Cable. Well, when that´s done I´ll let you know how it works.

[Q] How to Install custom ROM (deepshining 7.8) on HTC HD7 Easy a Free?

Hey Guys. This has been bugging me for a while now, how would I install Deepshining v 7.8 on my HTC HD7 easily and without needing to pay a cent? I haven't been able to find any method that works as of yet. Can you please link me methods which do not involve using the Y split system or similar. A guide or two would be GREAT!
Thanks!
My Specs:
OS Version: 7.10.8773.98
Firmware: 2250.21.51201.707
Bootloader: 5.12.2250.0(139198)
The problem is unless you have a Zune pre-Mango restore point on your PC, meaning you upgraded the device to Mango from a pre-Mango state and still have the PC that you used to do it on, the only other method to downgrade 5.xxx on your device is the goldcard/Y cable method.
Take a look at Zubair's Pre-Mango restore point method -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362194
Also the Y cable set up is really cheap. You can either make one yourself or purchase one on line. Then you only need a 1gb SD card and card reader. I did the whole set up, made 2 - Y cables and bought a SD card reader and 1gb sd card all for $12
I understand

Thankyou alot man! I think, with all my research and your confirmation I will pursue it with the y cable method. I am new to this stuff so thank you once again. I just started researching yesterday!
Your welcome!
Just remember the main steps are:
1. Downgrade the SPL to at or below 3.xxx (which is required to install XSPL)
2. Install XSPL (RSPL/HSPL)
3. Flash a custom rom of your choice.
I would recommend to follow Shadow's excellent step by step tutorial here -
