Now I used an all-in-one toolkit to flash stuff like i knew what i was doing 2 weeks ago, now that i have read like 400 forum posts, I know now that im pretty much screwed as my phone is not vastly supported anywhere on the inter-webs. Basically (i think) i flashed GSM stuff onto my phone, Ive gone through every single post i could find and have tried to reverse this thing for a while, im basically calling it a hard brick cause I am lost, When i boot it shows (this build is for development purposes only....blahblah... red txt with HTC logo, I CAN get into fastboot/hboot menus, fastboot commands work fine, I just really screwed something up good, anyone have any idea or way to fix this POS? At this point I could care less if my carrier works, Just want the damn thing to boot. Thank You in advance if you can help me at all.
(Not sure if this is right spot to post this, but due to less than 10 posts Im kinda SOL)

Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335368 also you could request an ruu from 'football' the op of that thread, he is the guy that supplies all the leaked firmwares/ruu for all of the HTC devices.
I think that's your best chance mate.

thank you for prompt reply, Ill have a look and hopefully I can find a match

None seem to match my radio or region but hell willing to give them all a shot haha, downloading now

All of those are for the gsm desire c, which is what caused your problem to start with.
Don't flash any rom/ruu for gsm desire c (golfu). message football and ask if he can supply an ruu for the cdma version golfc, it may be worth offering a donation.

HTC Incredible S’ Bootloader And Recovery Are Signed

bad news
read this : http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...s-bootloader-and-recovery-are-signed-as-well/
RIP HTC
Complete Fail. TT
That was one of the reasons i liked HTC, but signed recoverys are no go. If they keep this tactic, no more htc for me

Exactly.
I don't even understand why they would do this...do they not realize that there is a pretty decent amount of customers who buy their phones based on the fact they're completely open to customization?
I feel like this would hurt them more than it could ever help them.
It's coming home, it's coming, my Blackberry's coming home, it's coming home.
Sorry Android, sorry Google, but for me, RIM is better.

Saw this as soon as I woke up this morning. Bad news indeed. Very disappointing.
Just one more reason not to get the Incredible S

I've been thinking the same thing.
There goes the only developer-friendly phone maker..
I guess that means we want see any root access/development/custom roms for the Incredible S.
Not neccessarily, as I've already posted in the rooting thread, this was already known about and hasn't stopped us yet. Please be patient and stop spreading FUD
Does this mean we will never see csutom roms, or does this mean we'll have to wait until it's cracked?

I Fully agree. It's a pitty HTC wants in on the control over my device game...
I also hate that they want to control our devices. My next device probably wont be an HTC anymore also, however i do like the fooling arround with my phone. id rather would have it rooted quite easily, but i dont hate it they require some manual actions, since it saves a lot of people from having malware on there phones, but hell.... this one is over the top.
Probably have the IS for the next 2 years, so got enough time to play with it haha.
@DaanJordaan
having a motorola milestone with a signature-locked bootloader i can say, that custom roms ARE available... the key-difference is, that the signature-checking bootloader only boots signed kernels. everything else can be replaced with custom-made files. as an exaple: CyanogenMod ist available for the milestone, but without the enhanced kernel.
which in essence means:
custom roms: yes
custom kernels: no
i don't know how big the difference betweet the moto-bootloader and the htc-bootloader is. but if it's somehow similar, custom roms without custom-kernels will work. which indeed sucks... but that's still better than no custom roms at all... let's just hope htc produces very well coded kernels...
I dont think its "HTC" who wants to control rhe device, i've heard its the carriers that are asking for the bootloader to be singed, so they dont have to replace a brick device someone tried ro hack,
Just be thankfull they only signed it and not encrypted it like motorola.

That makes sense (no pun intended).
It's still not good news for the developer community though.

No it doesn't. Maybe in the US it does. I can buy a OEM Incredible S with no association with any carrier by paying full price, but seems like even these factory HTC devices are bootloader signed.

Its probably easier for HTC to just push all the incredible s's through the same production line.

Don't stress on this. ~1hour after it was identified on the thunderbolt, it was bypassed.
Don't go returning phones or quitting android over this.
I hope it will get rooted, I have just sold my HTC Desire, and am looking either to get the Nexus S or this. I have every confidence in the Dev guys to crack it.
HTC really have done something silly, the only reason the Desire sold so well was because it could get rooted so easily and allowed people to do anything they liked to it!
If this info is confirmed then the LG Optimus 2X is the best new phone!
I like HTC but I am not a fanboy fanatic to limit Android to HTC devices

How to S-ON?

Hi all
As I decided to sell the Incredible S I wondering is there any solution to gain S-ON, as I would like to revert it to 'standard' before selling.
I used revolutionary to get S-OFF.

since u used revolutionary s-off.. flash a signed htc ruu. that should revert it back to s-on.
Why do you decide to sell the incredible s? What device will you be using next? Just curious....

At the moment I have Desire and Incredible S. What is annoying me is the signal strength on Incredible S - cellular signal going down quite large when you grab phone, as the antenna is stupidly fitted at the bottom of the back cover. It can reduce signal strenght by 50% (for example from 54% to 23% just because i keep phone in my hand) which is unacceptable for me. Desire has not such an issue (compared with two phones side by side for long time and in different places, same network operator).
I notified many times, when I take Incredible S from my pocket there was no signal at all :/ which is never happened with Desire. This is why I decided to sell it...
Wifi signal is poorer on incredible S as well. This is not what I expected from the phone what cost over 300 quid.
I been thinking about Sensation, but as find out already there is even bigger issue - unresponsive screen and same problem with signal... I know no one phone is perfect, BUT phone what can't keep signal is just useless... Same about iphone4 - rubbish.
I don't know what I gonna buy next, as I don't like how the UI of Samsung Galaxy 2 looks like and there is no choice at the moment actually.. So I probably stay longer with Desire, which is great (s-off, rooted with MIUI), except camera quality...
tpbklake, thanks, I found it, miss it when I was looking for solution yestarday... For anyone who may look for it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15732727&postcount=14 It works.

It won't work, I checked that before I asked. Look into link above link, there is an explanation why hboot from RUU will not overwrite the one patched by revolution. That's why I needed to follow that solution.
Ok, fair enough... I also still have a Desire. Running insertcoin's rom on it right now. I do not really suffer from the bad reception of the Incredible S. It is less, but still sufficient. The only phone that matches these two HTC's is the Nexus S. I will wait for the next Nexus. Sure I will get that and will also keep the two HTC's.
I was able to S-ON the Incredible S with the RUU avaible here... Strange you can't. I just ran it and the device is all Stock again. I use the Desire for flashing and the Incredible S for daily stable use with the stock firmware..

Finding S-OFF

Hoping one of the devs could help me here, while looking for S-OFF, i need to be looking for a vulnerability in bootloader itself right?
I have to extract a dump, & amend with a hex editor and reflash right an insecure boot image?
S-off would be a massive achievement, good luck to anyone attempting a solution.
Unfortunately this is a really tough task HTC have really locked down their latest device's, and considering the wildfire s hackers had been working hard on this for well over a year and it has now ground to a halt, although good progress was made, it really does look like a lost cause, also the one x/s devs have been unsuccessful and those are some really talented devs/hackers.
I think we need HTC to throw us a bone, in the shape of a leak, but even that's unlikely, maybe they will, but not until these device reach the end of warranty and are just a distant memory (just a thought)
shame really as its the only thing I hate about HTC's phones.

This device is an old generation device ^_^
It has the same type of partitional layout as the sensation, give or take a few exceptions.
I might have to purchase this device again and get breaking, I'm thinking the Team Unlimited guide might work if we make some modifications... I'm thinking outside the box here ^_^
Good luck, with whatever you decide.
Just a heads up.... Phones4u have got them on special offer at the moment £79.99 or £99.99 with a set of urbeats by Dr dre earphones, which retail for £80, pretty sweet deal.

S-OFF

So i'm not very informed on what's going on here but, is there any dev that is working on getting the S-OFF for the One?
There are probably devs working on it behind the scenes but I'm not sure which devs have worked towards S-Off before.
mmmh maybe xmoo, who also worked on the One x... well, we'll see... however this is going to happen cause Qualcomm HTC devices have always been S-OFFed
I did hear from someone that codeworkx would be working towards it when he gets the One but no idea how true that is.
I know he's a great dev but I don't think he's ever delved into anything like this before.
yeah, pretty hard stuff, but someone will succeed in it
S-OFF can only be done by reverse engineering hboot needs to be disassembled into ASM to crack it so it's pretty hard work. I myself has proper knowledge but I don't wanna take a risk as this could permanently brick a device. To think that it's pretty hard getting this device internationally.

S-off was achieved for Evo LTE and one X and one x + using facepalm and other methods by team unlimited. I would think you guys will get it before long.

I echo that......it shouldn't be too long as it's a Qualcomm device. However you have to bear in mind that not too many people have the device yet, we're the lucky ones!
Also, I wouldn't actually get my hopes up with xmoo - previous experience with my HOX tells me that....

[Q] Switching phones

Hello xda,
I have a Galaxy S i9000, have had it for 2 years and played around with roms and modding; I am very familiar with this kind of stuff.
I am switching to a new phone soon, and it will definitely be an HTC phone, either a One or a One M8.
I originally thought of getting the 2013 One to save some money, but I was wondering if the performance is good on custom roms like cm11, pa 4.2 etc. (sorry if it is a really obvious question to you ppl, I have a phone with a single core 1ghz processor and cm11 is sooo laggy)
Another question, if i get the HTC one 2013, I will definitely get S Off with revone on it. can anyone tell me if there is a command to revert it back to S On after getting S off?
Cheers and thanks,
George
Edit: Please don't say anything about my Nexus 5, it is my 'hacking' device, where I do random $%#@ to it. I dont use it for daily use, only for rom testing etc etc. I know its weird, but I want an HTC for my daily driver

Okay I am not sure that htc one can be reverted to s-on back but i saw somewhere that there are modded bootloaders and they read s-on and locked even if you are s-off and have a unlocked bootloader.
