Well, as puppies do, my puppy chewed up my charger, but not beyond the point of fixing. So I rewired it, carefully as I could and black taped it well. Unfortunately, the black tape must have slipped and while I was charging my atrix, it froze. I tried restarting the phone, and it wouldn't turn on at all. I undid the black tape, and saw that the wires were tangled.. The only thing I could get out of my atrix was a steady green light but it would go away if I pressed the power button. So recently, I ordered the eb40 to replace the battery, as I thought that is what the issue was. I take the time to install it, and get everything put back together. No power, and no green light now. So I unscrew the flex cable and don't have it touching the terminals, green light while plugged in. Touch the terminals, no green light. I have no idea what could possibly be wrong with it, I checked all connections and they seemed secure.
You could of got it replaced before you opened it up by just playing dumb with at&t... not sure if there are warranty stickers inside.

I'm way out of warranty. And Motorola has me on file for drops because my headphone jack is broken as well. So I did my last option. I'm gonna try getting a factory adapter and cross my fingers hard.
You may just have completely discharged your battery. You can try plugging the wall charger and leaving it to charge for a few hours.

Tried that. For 2 whole nights, no go. The charger doesn't give power when powered off with Motorola phones.

I'm going with the possibility that you shorted out something on your main board. You can't short ac power to a delicate electronic device and it not have repercussions...

No idea, I just know that I get green light when plugged in without battery but no green light with battery. Don't know if it means anything special.
Okay, I don't know if this means anything or not, but I got it to green light on my desktop WITH the battery in.. And it's recognized as a USB Input Device. Any ideas?
EDIT: If I hold the power button combo, the green light will turn off after ~15 seconds but if I let go, it turns back on. My screen is black the entire time. I don't have Motorola drivers on this computer btw.
EDIT 2: I downloaded the Motorola drivers and RSD Lite but it wasn't recognized. Cannot repeat this after it has shut off now. I reopened the phone to check all my connections and everything is secure. (Thought it could've been the screen)

Sounds like it got hard bricked along the way. No charge, no key combination = hard brick.
Unless of course it just died...they do that sometimes

If you're simply out of power that may help you, but if you're hard bricked it won't do a bit of good.
I assumed from your posts that you still had battery left.
My apologies if that was an incorrect assumption.

Then you've got power to the phone already. I'm not sure what good the adapter will do you.
I've already seen two hard bricked AHDs personally here in my area, and they both were sent back to Motorola for replacement.

Hi guys.. tonight I was WiFi tethering my revo to my tablet while it was charging in my car. After 20 minutes, my phone rebooted. It was hot. REALLY hot!
After the reboot, my battery said that it was completely empty (it was 76% full when it rebooted) and shut down. Now it wont even charge when its plugged in, nor will it power up at least to do a reset.
I've tried pulling the battery, I've tried pulling the 4g sim card and powering it up that way, I've tried plugging it in without the battery and powering it up that way. Bottom line is that when you plug it in, it gets no juice now. Have any of you experienced this?
Is my revo officially dead? I'm on a stock rooted ZV7 vanilla build.
If this is a lost cause, I'm thinking that ill be getting the Nexus. Love this community! Sad i cant be a part of it by applying all the goodness that has come from this collective! Thank you for all that you have done to make the revo as great a tool as it was.

Happened to me, your phone is fine but the battery isn't. Check the white temperature indicator on the battery, if its red then your battery is fried. Temp indicator is by the terminals on the battery. Its supposed to be white with a red criss cross pattern on it. If yours is all red or pink then its done for.

It may have been...but the phone was affected. Got a new battery, plugged it into the wall charger, and the new battery was fried in 20 minutes.
I posted a separate thread with this question...but is it possible that an app can cause the phone to do this? My first instinct is to say no...but I find myself questioning that.

I don't think any app could possibly do that to a battery. Have you tried looking at the terminals on the phone to see if they're burnt up or anything? The first time it happened it was plugged in to a car charger, then the second time a wall plugin, right?

Yea, basically... In a nutshell, Verizon overnighted me a new Revo - Got it yesterday and I'm in the process of Rooting it again.. (thank god it came loaded with ZV7, but I would have just used the TOT file I guess)
Upon inspecting the old phone, I saw no evidence of scorching or burns.. The phone just got REEALY HOT.... The tech presumed that because of the heat and circumstances, it could have burned out the CPU. Hence the reason the phone isn't even turning on now.
In any case, I have a replacement, so I'll be staying with this fine community!
I appreciate all that you guys do here for this phone! Thank you for all the assistance!

I'm pretty sure that's for water damage.. Or is it for the battery in general or just does both?
I've had expedience with phone stores and when you bring a phone in they pop the back off and check the little thing on both the one on the battery and phone and if either one is solid they say its water damaged and deny you anything.
Can I get some clarification?
Same thing just happened to my phone a couple of days ago.
Battery indicator strip as well as the indicator on the phone are both still white with red X's.
My battery was at 8%, so I plugged it into the charger in my car - decided a couple of minutes later to put some music on, and the phone just shut itself off, never to return again ;_;
Easily could have been an overheating issue, as this phone gets hot VERY easily when doing ANYTHING while it is charging.
Are you using a case for your phone? I've got a body glove for mine and it doesn't overheat.
Hopefully someone can help me...
Friday the 28th I attempted to charge my phone for the night in a hotel room. When I plugged it in a small puff of smoke came out the charging port. I immediately said Oh $hi+!! I kept it plugged in all night. The next morning and to this date (10-1-12) it won't come on and won't enter any recovery mode (volume up and/or down + home button + power button). When I plug it into a computer the computer won't recognize it either. I have taken out the battery so many times it is ridiculous. The phone is a GT-N7000 that I bought from Amazon back in December 2011. The phone also was not rooted and running ICS. I am hoping not to resort back to my iphone 4. All my contact were not saved on my sim card but rather on the phone.

it is possible that the battery has broken. Try a different battery
or
maybe the charging port of the phone got faulty.
In both cases a replacement battery should help identify the problem.

Hi, thx in advance for help.
I have a 32gb Touchpad running CM9a2 & WebOS 3.0.4, and I can't get it to turn on in any way. :crying:
I've tried a bunch of stuff before I came here, so here's what I've done so far.
Charged TP overnight w HP charger, then:
Held down for 2 mins:
Power, Home
Power, Home, Vol Up
Power, Home, Vol Down
Power, Vol Up
Power, Vol Down
Home, Vol Up
Home, Vol Down
Held Power while repeatedly hitting Home for 1 minute
Held Home while repeatedly hitting Power for 1 minute
Left the TP alone for 3 days, then repeated the above.
Charged the TP through my laptop's USB port, then repeated above. (The logic was, a smaller flow of electricity might juice a drained battery.)
Called HP - I'm out of warranty and this would be $300 to fix! Might as well buy a new tablet for that, not that I can afford to anyways. Moving on...
HP guy did turn me on to WebOS Doctor, which I tried. Here's what I've done so far:
Charged the TP overnight w the HP charger.
Ran WebOS Doctor from powershell (used these instructions: www webos-internals org/wiki/How_To_Recover.
Couldn't get past "Next", and got this error in the powershell:
com.palm.nova.installer.recoverytool.runner.DeviceDiscoveryRunner$DeviceDiscoveryThread run INFO: got devices 0
Tried unplugging and replugging in the TP, no change.
Tried stopping and starting the Novacom service, no change.
Tried holding Power and pressing Center 10x, then holding Power and VolUp, as per 4a from here:
kb.hpwebos com /wps /portal /kb /common /article /44768_en .html (remove spaces).
I don't know what to do next!
Advice greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Did it die before you had this problem?
Just keep trying to get some power into it...
For mine it usually comes around after I put it on the charger and then press and hold the power and home buttons for a few minutes. But everyone has a different trick that works for them...
In my opinion you would have to try very hard to brick your TouchPad, trust me, I've tried

One other trick that I didn't see in the OP that I have heard works for some is plugging it in and unplugging it over and over again. But unplug from the wall charger, not the outlet because the DC converter will hold a small charge.

This is the first time the TP wouldn't charge. In the past, every time I drained the battery, I'd reconnect to the charger, get the lightning bolt, and eventually it'd start up again.
How long do you usually hold the Home and Power buttons? More than 5 minutes?
Never heard of the plugging/unplugging from the wall cycle. How quickly do you cycle? Once per second? Once per minute?
It's reassuring to hear these are tough to brick. Will report back with results when I have some. Thx!
@sstar - That's an amazing and reassuring link. Will definitely be looking into a touchstone. TY!
Happened to many early touchpads including mine.
Had to send it in to fix.
Did read that HP told someone to press one of the buttons 20+ times while holding the other made it wake up and charge.
(I can't remember which button was the one to hold.)
This worked for at least a couple people.

No problem, but I would look to keep it as there is no other Tablet that I know of that has an inductive charger. Which is why I am sticking to my HP rather than moving on to a Samsung or anything else that isn't an iPad.

I don't think it's the cable itself... I've tried a few and there doesn't seem to be a difference, meanwhile those same cables charge my phone just fine. Will PM about the TS.

I assume you double checked the hp cylinder charger for connection. Those little buggars are bad about wiggling loose. Give it a good twist to unlock it and then firmly close it back up if you haven't already. Since you said hp charger I assume you know that the stock charger is the only one you can really trust. 90% of the others won't work. Also try charging from a powered usb hub if you have one. Not from a pc directly but through a usb hub with an a/c cord. Good luck!

Regular phone charger cables will NOT work on the TP. The TP has a special cable that detects the 2 amp TP charger and only it will work with the TP.

Only one way to find out. Try it.
I am in the same boat. Been dead for a week now and I've tried everything as well. When plugged into the computer it is recognized but it's called QHSUSB_DLOAD and windows fails to find drivers. The doctor can't see it either. This sucks.
My wife's TP is completely dead (no power) also.
Have left it on the charger for days and it will not turn on.
Made sure the charger was working ok by trying it with my Touchpad - mine charges ok.
Tried my charger anyways - no change.
Put it on the Touchstone for 2 days - no change.
Power & home for 15s, 30s, 60s, 5min - no change.
Combinations of power/home/volume as read in various forum posts - no change.
Plugged into computer - not detected at all.
I'm out of ideas, anyone have anything else?
Thanks.
Hello guys my HTC One that I got around launch suddenly decided to quit out on me. It had died because I was using it. I charged it for a bit and then it died again so I put it back to charge and no LED light. I've switched out with multiple cables and nothing seems to be working. So I'm going to go on a limb here and say its bricked. Any other words of advice?
Btw it is a T-Mobile phone so what do I do if it is in fact bricked? Will they replace it for me because I would hate to buy another phone because this thing isn't cheap. Thank you guys in advance
