Easy Way to Disable Navbar - Nexus 4 General

Don't know of this has been mentioned before, but its an easy way to get rid of the sotfkeys.
Add this line to your build.prop, then reboot.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
This should work on all ROMs and devices 4.x.x.
To re-enable the softkeys, just change the 1 to a 0 and reboot.

Gestures.

i guess pretty much all roms let you do that on the fly without reboot or changing config files.

CM doesn't really have it. They have "Expand Desktop" but that takes away the notification bar too. I still use the method in the OP to remove the nav bar everytime I flash a new CM nightly.

[MOD][XPOSED] Disable Sprint SystemUI Flag

this is a simple xposed module to disable the sprint systemui flag.
this gets rid of the persistent gps icon and gives you evdo/lte signal icons instead of the sprint 3g/4g ones.

can you add the signal bars to the module, instead of the 6 bar sprint signal make it 5 bars like the generic M7? that would be awesome

You can do that very simply yourself. Download a good file exploit app, make sure you give it root permissions and mount system as rw. Navigate to system/customize/acc and open default.xml. Now find this line
<item type="integer" name="signal_icon_level_cdma">6</item>
And simply change the integer to 5. Dave the xml, reboot and enjoy. If you search through that default.xml you may find allot of things that you want to change. Have fun....

I can, but I'm not sure it would be worth the effort. why would you want that? the default signal icons are useless (showing "3G" for both 1x and ev-do), and afaik every custom rom removes the gps icon anyway.
I'm not saying I won't do it, I'm just saying someone would have to convince me that it's worth putting more effort into doing it than it would take for someone to flash a custom rom.

No every custom rom removes the gps icon, at least no the Sprint port of ViperOne, that's why i'm using your module, because removing the icon myself for some reason breaks the wifi, and regarding the signal icons, well it's just that sprint icons right or wrong are the only ones i know for the past 8 or 9 years so....
I couldn't get this to work. Copied it over and installed via ES Explorer, but nothing happened. It said it installed successfully but after restart the stock icons are still there (GPS and data)

I noticed that in the xposed module statusbar mods you have to do a soft boot for it to take. A hard boot doesn't work for some reason I'm unsure why.

You need to install Xposed Installer first and then run it through that. Just google Xposed and you should be able to find an apk. Extremely useful app. Sense 5 toolbox is another great app to run through xposed.

[Q] HELP ME PLEASE! how can I enable On-screen Keys ?

LG P880 cm10.1.3 stable
how can I enable On-screen Keys and navbar ?
I already tried to to add "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" line to build.prop. No success here. Wont boot, not even go to the CM logo. Just black screen.
Any Ideas ?
Thx for your help
BTW,
the reason why I want to enable softkey and (if possible) disable the capacitive buttons is the following:
I have hugh fingers. And so often when I type I accidently hit the home button instead of the space bar. It is really annoying. However, I never had this issue with my old SGS and my GalaxyTab.
And another thing: Sometimes when I hit the upper end of the buttons, it fires the long click action, e.g. it goes directly to RecentApps instead of HOME.
There are actually plenty of tutorials all over XDA (general or software section).
Search for it.
If you want further help you have to tell us details about your current setup.
EDIT: Just to let you know,
I searched for 1 min and found 3 different ways. One last tip: don't use the XDA search but Google, way more reasonable outcome.
Sent from my LG-P880 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well, the problem seems to be limited to cm10.1.3.
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
works on cm11 nightlies just fine.
Well, thanks for mentioning google. Always helpful.
I still find no other ways than editing build.prop (or using apps that do that for you)

The qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 just means that your device has no hardware menu buttons.
Whether CM didn't set it so this will enable navigation bar or you did something wrong.
5 Mins of search also got me this build.prop line to add:
ro.show.navigationbar=1
Try it.

Same as qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 . Does not boot.
I guess i stick with cm11 nightlies then
but thanks anyway
how are you editing the build.prop?
many file editors give problems with boot after edit, the best option is to copy file, edit and then push to phone through adb
the quemu hw keys is universal on cm to tell if your phone has hw keys or not so it should not be causing problems
(also check if it is already present in the build.prop)
If still it isn't working and don't want to change rom you can always use xposed framework which has a few different modules for nav bar

Center clock mod

I came across this and wanted to share. It works great. I didn't make this, just found and wanted to share.
Make sure to backup your current system Ui. Apk.

Here. Is the original system ui files. Not a flashable zip. So unzip and replace the 2 files in system/privapp/systemui.

I'm getting offset carrier ID on the lockscreen with a different DPI
I have stock DPI and have the same issue. Probably has something to do with the fact the mod is for the N5 which has the DPI set to something else

I modded the nexus 6's systemui apk to center the clock, and make it gray. So far its working well enough. It looks a little weird on the lockscreen though, as it is not quite aligned with the other icons. Feel free to flash it and let me know how it goes. Backup your system first though.
I flashed it.. Nice work!
Hopefully we can see it removed from the lockscreen completely once the bugs are worked out.

I don't believe the app allows you to edit the navigation bar, so much as changes the icons that are already there.

Nobody with an N6 has reported it working so far in the Xposed thread. Kinda frustrating that the most important Android phone out is the only one that can't seem to get it going.
Rovo89 says, Note that this is still an alpha version and for Lollipop on ARMv7+ devices only. Please install it only if you're willing to take the risk of boot loops. Just because it's working fine and stable for me doesn't mean it will work for everyone the same way.

See thread in n6 general. Yea you have to soft reboot to have xposed run after you are in permissive mode for selinux. Its the only way right now. If you full reboot, xposed runs before selinux is permissive
Would love to have it was excited now disappointed. Owell guess I'll wait it out along with everyone else

You don't need a second link download the two files. Download selinux make sure you set permissions to permissive. Boot into recovery flash framework, boot up install xposed, reboot into recovery again install framework. If it does not active do a soft reboot in xposed

I got RootCloak working. To verify this I opened Soft Card before Xposed was installed and it detected root. After Xposed was installed, I then installed RootCloak, checked the box in modules, added Soft Card in the app. Then I went back to Xposed and did a soft reboot. Then I rechecked Soft Card and it worked!

It works, but I did not get the results I wanted. It may be the way lollipop handles things, but i tried to get the tablet style settings by picking a high resolution and it worked but was all crammed in the middle. So...the xposed module works, but lollipop may give you some trouble.
