[T] stock FW Update softbrick issue? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I have searched this forum from top to bottom (All 18 pages of threads in the Question subforum and in General too) about the strange issue (Used to Modding and Rooting 2011 and 12 Sony's) i am facing with 1 of our sample Xperia T's (LT30p) but cant find a definate fix for it (Dont want to spend any more time trial and error as have flashed it around 10 times already).
Its on stock 3.0.3 with locked boot but everytime i try to update with either PC comp, OTA or flashtool to the next 195 FW, i get this error screen (Booting issue) after Sony logo (this image i found on one of the other pages where the person had the same sort of issue).

The only way can get back is to flash the 3.0.3 FW back on via flashtool (Had a full on soft brick when trying to update via OTA on one of my attempts, i had to repair with PC comp repair which flashed 195 but sorted the kernal/bootloader then flashing 3.0.3 via flashtool to get back to stage 1 out of the box). < Edit mite confuse!
The strange thing is i never get any error warnings or logs on PC comp or Flashtool so looks like its something to do with the phone maybe.
I have seen people with a couple of maybe fixes but anyone know exactly the issue and how to bypass to update?
1) Format SD and remove sim before flashing here in this thread
2) Factory Reset before Flashing in this thread
Before anyone asks i cant just send it back Thanks in advance!!

So you managed to flash 195 FW but then flashed 303 firmware again to try to update back to 195?
If you flashed 195 FW by PCCompanion then you have your offical firmware.....Not sure what your problem is after this...

195 has never worked for me i get this issue (Boot screen). PC companion only has 195 as a repair FW, not the older 3.0.3. When it full on softbricked had to use the repair FW to fix the Bootloader so the 3.0.3 FTF would boot.
Just want to get off 3.0.3 to any newer FW thanks

I still dont understand. If you repair in pccompanion it willput the latest avaialble software for your phone onto it. So if it put 195 on then its on....There is no difference between a reapir FW and a full FW
Repais again in pccomapanion and then send a screenshot of your
settings/about phone
It should be on 195

195 will not and has never booted into Android on this T (Always the error above).
If i use PC comp repair it will upgrade me by default to 195 (As you state the newest FW available) which wont work. The only reason i said PC comp repair helped me was when the device softbricked (No Sony logo or anything) when updating OTA. The repair fixed the bootloader so then i was able to return to a working FW (3.0.3) with flashtool.

OK.
Did you flash any 303 before you tried to upgrade?
Did you make a FTF of your original firmware?
If you can get your original 303 FW then that should be enough to fix your phone and tell your phone to update to the correct 195 firmware.
What was your original FW SI?

I have an original backup of the factory FW (That works) and i have other version's/region's 3.0.3 FW's as well and that all work too. It does not matter what 195 firmware i use to flash to upgrade and how i flash it, i will have the same issue even if its the correct FW (PC comp would of selected the correct FW SI during the update so would not be that anyway).
I could really use some advice from someone that has had the same issue as this and has found a work around, that being factory reset before hand or the Formating SD fix that i mentioned in first post. Thanks for your help anyways

Well try those ways then.
I was only suggesting that if you were trying to update from a 303 FW that was not your original then that nay be the reason.
Have you unlocked the BL? Have you rooted? If you have rooted have you tried flashing a 195 stock ROM via recovery? If you have unlocked the BL whick kernel are you currently on? All these questions you didnt give info on that would let me help you. If you have not even rooted then I would go straight back to the shop and demand a new phone.
Anyway, i hope you manage to get your phone fixed.

That will be your problem then. Samples may not be final release devices and therefore may not accept the 195 update.

Just use flashtool. Either install the 2.1 firmware then flash the 015 baseband or install the 1.6 firmware then update with PCC.

I also used this with flashtool and flashed 2.1 update but nothing. Is there anyway to use SEUS again. In past time I used this for X8 and it regularly worked for me.
EDIT: I already have 015 baseband

Master B.JAY, there is no problem with Flashtool, the problem is with SEUS and PCC as I can't repair my device using these.
As I am saying in 1st post, I have to sell X8. So, I want to relock its bootloader and Stock rom with SEUS but SEUS don't show repair button after the bootloader unlocked.
Even I have Flashed both Stock ROM and KERNEL with flashtool. But how to relock it??????

Ah, my Padawan ... much things to learn you have ...
If you already flashed back to Stock Baseband then all you have to do is to re-lock the boot loader with s1tool ...
1. Hit up the [Guide] Bootloader and kernel guide | X8 | W8 | X10 mini | X10 mini pro thread
2. Press CTRL+F in your browser and search for "HOW TO RELOCK BOOTLOADER"
3. Follow the instructions of that section to re-lock the boot loader.
May the force be strong with you, youngling.
I followed the Procedure , but in s1tool there is no option for relocking bootloader. How to re-lock???
sorry if its over..but I need help only from you as you are more sincere in my mind.
Let me sum it up for you ...
HOW TO RELOCK BOOTLOADER :
Flash back stock kernel using "Repair" option in SEUS or by using Flashtool (if using Flashtool either flash stock firmware or flash the appropiate .ftf file below):
X8 (E15) and W8 stock kernel:
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?zb3zhdkodgy55ch#1
Direct download link: http://db.tt/NI2WBnUp
(According to you, you already did that step and flashed back to Stock ROM and Stock Baseband/Kernel)
Download S1tool and extract it to an appropiate location on your PC (not needed if you already have s1tool) . (Credits go to the_laser for this tool)
S1tool post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17374120&postcount=26
Direct download link: http://db.tt/OrOQO33
Turn off your phone.
Launch s1tool.exe in the folder you extracted s1tool to.
Click on Restore button and then connect your phone to the PC in flash mode (press and hold back button while connecting your phone to the PC).
Wait for the process to complete. Congratulations! You now have relocked your bootloader!
I just left out the parts where you would flash back Stock with Flashtool and where you would install the gordon's gate driver.
Now, where's the problem?
You unable to read to follow a simple instruction from above to go to the thread, search for the RE-LOCK section and do as written?
EDIT: Is my mood now serious enough for you?
i use fleshtool to repair my x8

Yes, In your s1tool there is restore button.
I used a ****ty s1tool. Now with yours perfectly relocked.
That "****ty" expression is definitely worth a "Thanks"...
Anyhow... WOOT!
Now you can sell your X8 like it once shipped.
You are right...and Sorry for my Word..

[TUTORIAL][ROOT]Upgrade stock .434 to .253 - DRM & Bootloader LOCKED

Hi,
After looking EVERYWHERE on this forum to see if there is a tutorial to upgrade my rooted stock .434 rom to .253 without losing root, I've come across many threads explaining bits and pieces on how to get to .253, and how to get your bootloader and TA partition back in place.
After summoning up some courage, I've decided to try and upgrade my XZ to .253 and rooting it with a bootloader unlock. But it didn't end there. I then tried to relock the bootloader and restore the TA partition using information from many other threads.
The good news is, this worked. I now have:
- Stock ROM
- Root
- DRM Keys intact
- Bootloader LOCKED
- Bootloader unlock allowed = yes
Before explaining step by step how I accomplished this, I'd like to thank the following awesome members of the XDA community:
DooMLoRD , shadowboy23 , krabappel2548 , rickwyatt , DevShaft
And now, the tutorial:
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for bricked phones, failed root attempts, heart attacks, or anything else caused by this tutorial. This method worked for me, and I sincerely hope that it will work for everyone else.
Requirements:
- Flashtool
- Stock Firmware .253 - The list of unbranded, stock firmwares is in this thread
- PC Companion
- Doomlord’s Advanced stock kernel
- SuperSU zip - also in DooMLoRD's thread
- Backup-TA 8.0 by DevShaft
- A strong heart (this process nearly gave me a heart attack)
I assume you already have a rooted stock rom, so I won’t be taking the trouble to explain how to root the .434 firmware.
Step 1:
Backup your TA partition using the Backup-TA 8.0 By DevShaft
Step 2:
Backup EVERYTHING you need. Especially your internal storage and your SD-card, these will both be wiped.
Step 3:
Upgrade your phone using sony’s PC companion to the .253 firmware. Let it boot completely after upgrade, so the NFC Firmware is upgraded.
Step 4:
Use flashtool to unlock your bootloader. <- Reminder: This will wipe EVERYTHING. So make sure you have made your backups!
Step 5:
With the bootloader unlocked, root the firmware by using Doomlord’s method as described HERE.
Step 6:
With flashtool, flash the stock Kernel over the advanced stock kernel.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Make sure you flash ONLY the kernel, not the system partition, this will probably make you lose root.
Step 7:
Now that we’ve got a stock, rooted rom, it is time to restore the TA-backup.
From here on, please double check every step you take, as flashing a wrong TA backup will hard brick your device. Also, this is where the increased heart rate starts
Use TA-Backup 8.0 by DevShaft to restore your TA partition, thus locking the bootloader and restoring your DRM keys.
Step 8:
Suffer from a minor heart attack while waiting for your phone to boot. This took my XZ a while..
Now that it has booted, check if your DRM keys are intact and your bootloader is locked:
First, dial *#*#7378423#*#*
- Service Info
- Configuration
- Check if bootloader unlock allowed = yes
Second, Go back to the service menu.
- Service Tests
- Verify Certificates
- Check if your certs are all there and intact.
If the bootloader status and the DRM keys are all ok, congratulations! you now have stock, rooted, bootloader closed, drm-rich, .253 rom!
If you have any questions, I will try my best to answer them.
Better tell people to use Backup-TA 8.0< by @DevShaft instead since it's much more secure than the one in the OP which is quite likely to brick your phone.
I just used your method to clean install .235 with root and locked BL.
Everything worked fine.
However, even with this method, I get a reboot when mounting /system as r/w. Sigh.

You need to downgrade to a rootable ROM first (like .434).
Flash .434, root it, then make a TA backup, then flash .235 and proceed.
If you 're already on .235 and haven't taken a TA backup there is no way to do it without downgrading first...

so I downgrade to 434 and then I go root
Bootlock unlock or not?
and then the stock kernel over flash
and restore the TA
as I understand it?
sorry for my english
Flash this http://www.fun-industries.nl/xda/?dlid=c3VwZXJ1c2Vy in CWM or TWRP, it will fix the reboot issues.
NOTE: It will also install Superuser.apk to /system/app ... so if you have SuperSU installed, you will need to do the 'super user shuffle' to change it back.
1) Downgrade to .434 by flashing an appropriate FTF file through Flashtool
2) Root it via one of the rooting toolkits available here on xda
3) Backup TA (make sure you have a proper backup!)
4) Update to .235 via PC Companion or SUS
5) Unlock bootloader
6) Flash Advanced Stock Kernel by DoomLord
7) Root through CWM Recovery
8) flash stock .235 through Flashtool and appropriate .ftf
9) relock bootloader through a TA restore
these are the steps, pretty much
I updated my phone to 235 via PC Companion, but I didn't check if this version is rooted, so I flashed back 434, root and backup TA, but now PC Companion and SUS don't update my phone (no update available...). Can I flash 235 via flashtool or I have to wait?

I checked in service info: Bootloader unlock allowed: NO. Before flashing I had yes?! I flashed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2235046.
Bravia engine is working.
I believe that there are some threads on this. There is a way to go around the allowed=no on an unbranded phone. I had the same, I used PC companion to update my XZ to. 253 and the bootloader unlock allowed changed to yes.
From there I unlocked the bootloader, rooted, and restored the TA. Now it still says bootloader unlock allowed = yes

Your guide works, and evyrything is ok now. Thanks.

[Q] Locked bootloader , can i downgrade to root.

i recently bought a bell xperia z1, went on to the sony website to unlock bootloader to find that mine is locked, unlike the international version which has an unlockable bootloader.
ive updated it to see if the updates would unlock the bootloader but alas they did not, now im running :
model c6906
android 4.3
build 14.2.A.0.209
Main question :
Will i be able to downgrade and bypass the bootloader?
ive rooted a S2/Htc HD/ Desire Z in the past im just worrying about bricking my phone that ive had for less then a week.
and all other guides ive seen are for different versions, ive heard of flashing the 6903 stuff but that makes me worry way to much.
so pretty much want to know is it possible to do via downgrade to achieve root or should i just wait till a safer method becomes available.
sony bloatware is annoying
Yes, you can get C6906 Rooted with Locked Bootlader. First you have Read a bit more about it, starting with this thread and also watch the Video Tutorial.
You have to use Flashtool v0.9.15 to downgrade to .534 using Rogers FTF for your model from here.
When you are on 4.2.2 FW .534 Root it with Bin4ry Method, then Install Dualrecovery, SuperSU and Upgrade to your favorite latest Android Pre-Rooted, like KitKat Here or JB 4.3 Here.
Done.
Good Luck!
you sir are the man, followed the video and got root, now to find a rom to use.
edit : went to install a rom + gapps and had to do the whole process over again. right from flashing nuts custom. got stuck in a sony logo boot loop. zz
so attempt #2 with a different rom.
edit 2: was able to update to 4.4 kitkat so now i hope i can update my rom. since i was trying to do a 4.4 rom on the 4.3 firmware ?
edit3: nope stuck on sony logo so went back to nuts again... hrmm well atleast i could upate to 4.4 going to try boot to cwm and see if that works
Before I flashed mine I was reading for weeks, You did in few hours and I think to quickly. If the phone stuck in Boot logo, I think you did something wrong but I don't have the phone with me so I cannot tell.
Now you have to go back to stock, keep pushing Volume UP and Power, 3 vibrations, phone in off, keep pushing volume down and connect to pc in flashmode, flash a Stock FTF for your model from the link I give you. Now you phone should boot. Repeat the process to get Root and be careful.
Remember to Wipe Data, Appslog, Cache, every time you flash a Fresh Installation is recommended.

Ok, that is why I saw in Flashtool Disconnect and Connect my device few times but never had a problem. Good to know.
i was able to go back and use flash tool to flash nut's ftf
so im on 4.4 kitkat rooted which is good.
but when i flash any custom rom trough any recovery it boot loops im guessing its because locked bootloader.
so im guessing any rom i want to flash has to have 2 parts. The flashing process in recovery and the flashtool flash firmware for that rom.
unless like you said update my kernal

Can't install OTA update

Hey, so my phone was on a custom ROM for some time now and I just recently went back to stock by flashing an .ftf file with FlashTool.
Since I wanted to go very sure that I take the right file to flash, I chose one with the firmware version 12.1.A.0.266 because I didn't find a newer one, I trusted, thinking I could update it to 12.1.A.1.207 via Update Center then. The flashing process went flawless but the thing is that I couldn't update my phone.
I go into the Update Center, click on download (it's the newest 12.1.A.1.207 firmware) and afterwards on install. The phone shuts down and for 4 or 5 seconds the screen shows the normal animation it always shows, when updating firmware.
After these 4 or 5 seconds it reboots normally and I get the alert that installation is not possible. I tried it a hundred times via PC Companion as well but it always says that I have modified software and it can't be updated.
I also reset my phone thinking this could solve the issue but it didn't and now I don't know what to do. I don't really want to flash an .ftf file again because I'm always a bit anxious when flashing something.
If you have an idea on how to solve my problem I'd be very thankful
Anyone?

I didn't even know, that updating with an unlocked bootloader is not possible. Thanks for your recommendation as well

[Q] Unable to upgrade from 4.2.2

Long story short, sent my phone away for warranty repair and it came back with 4.2.2 flashed on it. Never rooted it or modded it in any way. I wanted to update it back to 4.3 and from there eventually back to 5.1, however, the phone says that it's up to date - same thing with PC Companion. Tried to repair it via PCC and I also did a factory reset on it, both to no avail.
Is there any way to force the OTA update(unless I have to wait for X days) or is rooting and flashing the only way out of this? C6093, build 14.1.G.1.534, cust. no. 1276-1193.
Thanks in advance.

I am on mobile at the moment and hope
my search went correct. then you are on a branded swedish firmware from tele2.
Where are you from and what firmware was on your phone before you gave it to repair?
You can flash any firmware you want with the help of flash tool app.

Thanks for the flashtool tip, I unlocked the bootloader and used Sony's Emma flashtool to flash it back to 5.1.1.
Thanks again!

You didn't have to unlock your bootloader to flash a firmware to your phone!
Did you backup your ta partition because unlocking your bootloader means you will loose your DRM keys?
