HTC Raider Owners - HELP! - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Hi,
The Bell store people are claiming I did internal tampering with my phone. I believe they have broken it. I really would appreciate if someone can take a pic of their HTC Vivid "void" sticker and post it on the forums, or link to an image... I need it to prove I never opened the phone (I never took a pic, but if they opened the phone, they can say the sticker was never there).
I really appreciate any Help I get!
Thanks

Sorry i no longer have the sticker since i s-offed my phone
Sent from my HTC Vivid 4G

I also don't have it sorry

I'm picking one up on the weekend with the sticker, will post a pic.

Bought one off eBay lmao. Be carful when you pull it off as you never Knox what could happen

If you take the back cover off, there's a void sticker on a round piece of plastic... Covering a screw. Is there anyway to reattach that? I want to replace my cracked screen but don't want to void my warranty

Use an exacto knife and a still hand. To be honest its just a sticker, would you pay more for a insured replacement or save a third of the cost by repairing the screen yourself.

i do, but there's a $199 deductible.. so, i'm debating on replacing the screen, report it lost then sell it on craigslist and pay the $200 or just be honest and tell them i want a replacement due to the cracked screen.

If you use your insurance do it the right way. If you falsify that you lost the phone to asurion they will blacklist your imei for the broken phone in question, if the craigslist buyer wants to activate it on att, they are not gonna be too happy
When you get a replacement phone from asurion, they direct you to a site to tie in your new sim card that they ship to you with the imei of the new phone ( this relinks your new phone to the insurance). Fail to do so they will hit you with a retail charge on your next bill.
If you have the courage to fix it yourself then by all means do, but if you're new to this, but considering the risks.

Here is a little ding dong truth for you randong. Encouraging users to fraud their insurance is not the way to get your point across. swallow these two pictures taken from a recent replacement for a damaged Vivid on my second line.

First off let me say I didn't encourage him/her to do nothing I only stated that you statment isn't true I have never heard of a backlisted att phone ...not to be confused with sprint or verizion that does render your phone useless..iv personally seen people lose their phone get the replacement and the find the phone they lost in the first place and all they had to do was stick in the new sim card into their old cell phone and low and behold it works with no problems ...I don't care what you think about them pictures but the fact is your wrong becauseiv seen it with my own 2 eyes several times ....just because the law says we can't smoke weed doesn't mean that we don't ... Rules on paper simply put there to scare people ....and what's the point anyway you kno the guy obviously know what's he's talkin about with the insurance and what he's going to do

Regardless, If he wants to take the chance at fixing it himself, he can do so. He would be saving at least half of the cost or more asurion would charge as a premium ( $199)
FYI HTC VIVID Replacement Screen:
http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/...-Screen-Replacement-Parts-OEM-Repair-Fix.html
And thats $65 for just the replacement screen.
95% of the people registered on XDA could replace the Vivid screen with no issue and the right tools, and i am probably not exaggerating.
I dont know if you follow the news but Sen. Chuck Schumer ( NY-Democrat ) is very close to striking a change early 2012 as to how Asurion handles claims universally in the US for all insured phones. He supports SOPA unfortunately.
Make sure when you order the replacement screen ,it comes with the double sided tape attached

8125,
That's the LCD, I just need the screen. I'll probably get it off eBay. Yeah, I really don't want to go the fraud route. It's just a ripoff that I have to pay $199 for a new one. But, then again... It's an insurance company. Its their job to rip you off.

Hope for a Bricked Vivid ?? { Discussions of Possible Solutions }

Hello Guys,
I recently PICKED up a DEAD VIVID from a fellow XDA'r for a really cheap price hoping I can UNBRICK it and use it
As I have understood , This phone was bricked during the ICS update Process. Looks like the Original Owner did not know what he was doing LOL,
The phone should be here in a WEEK
Can anypone shed any light on how this can be fixed and what are the possible options ?
JTAG ??? HTC service
I live in INDIA BTW
bump....
Hope I wasn't a Idiot to buy a bricked VIVID ??
I don't think any solution has been found so far. If you hadn't already known, our vivid section is really small with not a ton of development going on. The people that couldn't follow directions were sort of left in the dust, and I don't know of anyone working on a fix for the bricks.

If it powers on and you are able to go to HBoot it can be saved.

If you can get into Qualcomm dload mode, you should still have a shot at fixing it. If it literally can't get into dload mode, does not boot into fastboot, or any other possible method of pushing files to the phone, then yes, it is bricked. You will have to find a way to use JTAG or send it to an HTC service center.
Thank you all !!!!! hoping for RIFF box to work
I started a similar thread.....I also have a bricked Vivid.....I have been able to get mine to be recognized by QPST on com6 in phone download mode.....the question is, what do I do now? QPST seems to be pretty straight forward, but I have no idea where to find the necessary files to flash the phone. Any ideas?

I haven't been able to find any .hex files for our device. Tried opening the various .img files extracted from the PH39IMG.zip in a hex editor and saving them as .hex files but QPST returns an error. I don't have any experience in hex editing, but I know I can't brick the phone any worse. My g/f has went back to an HTC Inspire so I am going to keep this hope alive as a side project.

Whether this guy who bricked his phone was a NOOB, isnt really an issue now is it? Nor if he is one of the ones whom ticked off PG.. I bricked my Vivid, and 1) I'm not a NOOB. 2) I followed Directions to the letter ... did everything right and it still bricked.. but i had insurance through BestBuy , sent it in and got a new phone 2 days later.. re-tried the same steps i did before which bricked my phone, and it went through without a hitch... We arent here to judge people nor start up another thread which can potentially lead to another mass exodus from XDA
Well I just got off the phone with HTC....seems I was wrong about their warranty policy. Even though I was not the ORIGINAL purchaser the PHONE is still under warranty. I will be shipping it back to HTC first thing in the AM.

Wow, I didn't even know that. All you have to do is send back the phone, no receipt, no nothing?
I called HTC and gave them my contact info and all the info about the phone....IMEI#, serial #, and part #.....told them what the problem was....and they emailed me the info about sending the phone in...worst case is the problem won't be covered under warranty, in which case I will have to pay $135 to have it fixed. Hopefully it will be covered under warranty though....

yeah i've sent them many phones, a couple of hd2, touch pro, touch pro2
can't remember what else but yeah if ur not original owner from a store they go by production date of the phone, i've been lucky that i always got them fixed for free, only once they said that said that the damage to my screen was due to physical damage and didn't fix it, and they charged me $40 (they call it a triage fee) other than that, i had to pay to ship it to them but it's worth the $5 using usps priority mail, they ship back at their cost with a nice box and HTC lint free cloth lol
You need the H-BOOT

Should i trade?

I already posted this in the nexus forum. I just want to get an opinion from both sides...
I currently have the HTC One m7 on tmobile with a completely blown speaker on the top so both external sound and call sounds are ruined. I unlocked the boot loader and actually dropped it one time so there is a tiny bit of damage on the bezel, so i assume neither t mobile or htc will honor any kind of warranty. I put it up on craigslist and a guy is offering to trade me for a mint condition nexus 4 with a few cases. Should i do it?

I have had horrible luck in the past on warrenty claims with t mobile, it made me not even want to call them. I sent htc an email and they basically said they cant help me, wouldn't even say if they could repair if i paid for it. No shops around want to touch the phone, and the cant even obtain parts. Oh and the best part is that i cant even call them with a blown speaker

I have had AT&T honor warranty even with a Relocked bootloader. If the unit is with in one year...so it still has manufacturers warranty. I dropped but always had a Trident or Otter box case so no visible damage. If you can restore the stock recovery, relock, etc...you can try HTC or T Mobile. I also searched the forums and found a way to make the screen show Locked Vs Relocked. You will have to search that. Hate to see you lose the One without trying first..then if they wont help you..do the deal as a Nexus 4 is not up to the Specs ofnthe ONE but it is Free of carrier b.s., right ? i assume it is the unit you buy from Google directly? I purposely went with the HTC ONE Developer Edition so I would have unlocked bootloader without any Carrier Restrictions...

Agree, flash back to stock recovery, rom, relock...wipe sd card with any superUser (root) files and send it in, many have had warranty honored this way...it just depends what is broken or defective...the only issue is the physical damage that they could claim caused the speaker damage..? Don't know till ya try...
It really bad luck. But a blown speaker should be covered. I'd keep hassling them. With the phone so new, I wouldn't give up.

Yeah the only problem with that is that i cant find the stock recovery for the tmobile version. If i could get the recovery back and remove tampered from fastboot, i would totally be comfortable taking it in.

Bought second hand. Can I send for repairs?

I bought an HTC One used. Everything seemed fine with it until I tested it against my friend's HTC one. I noticed the bottom speaker on mine distorts/buzzes above a certain volume and during certain frequencies (usually bass). I'm not sure if it is blown it or somehow loose in the casings. I would like to send it in to HTC if I can but I don't know if they will even work with me since I am the second owner. Anyone else been in this situation?

hi,
since your device should still have warranty on it of course they will work with you. warranty is based on the device and not on the customer who bought it. hope i could help.
Robert
I would say no since you bought it 2nd hand
From my One while peeking in your window
HTC warranty repair don't ask questions about whether it was you who bought it or not. They only care about what's wrong and how to fix it.
I sent my ONE for repair with S-off and an unlocked BL as a converted GPE. They gave a quote since it had physical damage and sent me a new one.

hi, i wonder why you believe that second hand buyers have no warranty on their devices, can you please explain that to me (us)? For example, you buy a brandnew car, with 5 years of warranty, sell it after two months....now the one, who bought your car, has no more warranty?
As i said before, warranty is based on the device, not on the customer who first bought it. Ok, i am in Germany, but warranty is handled the same way around the world, just not the same warranty time, but should at least be six months, also in US.

Call their customer service. Get the number from their website.
Most polite , educated and fast pickup I've ever had the pleasure to deal with.
Compared to other companies where I've stayed waiting for an hour before either the call dropped got transferred or I just got pissed and hung up.

HTC warranty will have some limitations. As long as it is still in warranty (not a single ONE should be out of warranty yet) they will not worry about it just don't tell them you bought it second hand. Now if the phone was out of warranty by date, then they would ask for a proof of purchase and that is where you will would run into no warranty

I just wanted to give and update on this. I followed your advice Tachi91 and rolled the dice on sending it in, S-OFF, second owner, custom ROM on the phone.
When I called them (number from the website) they didn't ask if I was the second owner but they did ask for the serial number which must have told them that the name did not match up. They didn't seem to care.
Sent it in. They decided it could not be fixed, I paid repair fee and received back a brand new phone.
Between the repair fee and the cost I spent on the actual phone, I got a brand new-from-the-factory HTC One for $130 less than full retail from t-mobile.
Good deal and very satisfied with how HTC handled it all.
Thanks Tachi91.

Cracked M7 What Should I DO?

Hi,
I've been a fan of my M7 for awhile but it recently cracked and I'm looking to upgrade to the M8. Unfortunately I would like to sell my M7 first but I do not know what to do with it. Bestbuy offered me pocket change and so did sprint. I was thinking about sending it in to get repaired then selling it but to get it repaired is about $100+. Anyone have any insight on what I should do or even try to sell it cracked?

You could donate it to a developer who risks his phone to test builds. Like the guy who develops the TWRP2 enhancements. Ummmmmm ... And maybe take a tax break on it as a gift or something.
