Hello, my I9000 is about 4-5 years old, I've been having trouble recently with the audio port.
Some headphones will go in but pop back out, like it's on a spring. Some will go in but my phone struggles to recognise them, when it does the slightest movement will disconnect them.
I've had a look to see if anything is stuck and I can't see anything inside the port.
Anyone have any tips or solutions that may help?

Problem solved.
Inserted a cotton bud (q tip to our American friends) into the audio port and cleaned it out, came out a little dirty. Now it accepts all headphones and even sounds better than before.

My captivate audio die it's not the ROM because I flash 5 different ones but the problem is the it comes and goes I have to give it a tap in the back so it could work... But it's more technical then a software issue...

I've read on here on more than one occasion, that the speaker on our phones can come loose, and removing the back cover and pushing firmly in on the speaker will re-seat it. Give it a shot! Hopefully this helps.

It's a consistent issue with cappy's. Looking at the back of the phone with the cover off, the screw on the right side of the speaker is frequently over-tightened during assembly by the manufacturer, thus causing the left side to lift and randomly break connection. If you press to re-seat it and continue to have problems, try backing the screw out about a 1/2 turn (counterclockwise) and try again . Just don't back it out too much or you have the same problem. Good luck!

I will try it in the morning to see how it goes...

Glad it worked for you. I use the music player a lot and cannot stand for the speaker to cycle on and off like that. Anyways, enjoy!

Hi guys, I tend to flash ROM's pretty frequently. I've noticed that my headphones stopped working properly. I only heard the audio on my left headphone and not the one on the right. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance. This is a great community we have here. I have new headphones so I don't believe that is the problem.
That's usually the problem when only works. Have you tried them on anything else to confirm? Maybe there's debris blocking contact

Thanks for your response be-eock. Love your work here on xda. I tried my new headphones on other things and they are working great. It is only when I use them on my phone that I only get audio on the left side.

Try cleaning out the jack for the headphones.
I tried cleaning it out with a q-tip and got some minor cleaning done but no luck with the headphone sound. I tried voodoo sound to push mono instead of stereo through the headphones but no luck.

I have finally figured out what the problem is. The headphone jack is starting to go. When I press down on the headphone while in the jack I was able to finally get sound out of the right-headphone. Thanks for the suggestions. Now I have to figure out how to replace the jack.

Hi.
Recently my new earphones have been okay, but suddenly my right earphone has suddenly turned soft. It happened halfway through a song. Do you think it 's possible for a jam to be the problem and if so what should I do to clear the jam?

Do they perfectly work with X8 or they are like apple headphones??
I think so I mean I've been using it for 3 months already and there was no problem until now

Do the original headphones which came with the phone work properly??
If not something maybe wrong with your phone.
you may have blown the speakers in the earphones themselves. Do you play music quite loud?
It's really easy to check where the problem lies..
1: Try the headphones in another device and
2: Try other headphones in your phone..
You'll then see if the problem is the phone, the headphones or both..
Well I play nu metal

Its possibly a hardware fault, I had a similar problem with my old HTC hd2 where the USB connection became corrupted and forced the phone into thinking it was getting docked. That's my view but hopefully its a software thing and you can easily sort it.

I had the exact same problem. Car dock mode randomly activated and deactivated with no user input.
The problem was a faulty USB the on the phone that was fixed when I sent it to service.
try cleaning the USB port first.. (remove battery) use a clean cloth , little alcohol, a small toothpick (gentle)
I bought the above for my HTC one,I have set the 2 up and I'm really disappointed with the both of them.
At 1st it took 4 attempts to pair the A100 with my One, once connected and playing music ,I'd say every 10 seconds or so the sound will cut for a second and then kick back in, it automatically comes back on but it's very annoying and the fact I expected it to work flawlessly.
Once I connect the One to the A160 dock (with the A100 connected) the lag is beyond a joke theres a 1 second delay before the sound comes through my car speakers.
Anybody else experience this,I'd like to keep the both of them but when I've spent not far off £100 I expected a lot better to say the least

i had the same issue with all of my five BT-Devices. Disabling WiFi did the trick. As this wasn't any good solution for me, because i love listening to web-radio over BT, i should say that you can easily switch WiFi back on after you successfully connected to the BT-Device. It won't interfere then.
Problem is known to HTC and as i heart, it already is fixed in the OTA-Update that arrived in Taiwan.
Seems to have done the trick thanks for your help
