[Q] Cannot run my S I9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
I got this samsung galaxy s i9000 and i was using miui rom. there were a few things i didn't like so i wanted to switch to some other but when i turned of my mobile and used 3 buttons combo it only loaded to a downloading mod with this big yellow sign and was stucked there. so i wanted to turn it on normally but it only shows the galaxy s logo and afterwards screen with "powered by mackay kernel" and that cycles.
Is there a chance that me removing clockwork mod could cause that?
Need to fix that as soon as possible. Any advices?

AW: [Q] Cannot run my S I9000
The yellow triangle is the download mode and it's like fast boot mode on other device. It's a default feature.
If you are stucked a reboot you could try to pull the battery out for example 5min and wait, normally it fixes itself.
Sent from my Nexus 7

yes i read that a lot but it didn't work... even after half an hour i tried to turn it back on and it cannot load itself... and i have no internet connection either by t-mobile
also when i was inastaling miuis rom i used the 3B combo and it opened some sort of text mod where i chose to install it now it don't happen

That text mod is called recovery mod. Press VolUp + Home + Power buttons. Then you may try to install rom again and reboot, after that phone should run.

If you can reach the download mode, you should try to change your kernel via Odin. I don't know what kind of kernel you can use with your ROM but I'm pretty sure you can change it.
If it doesn't work with changing the kernel, try to change your ROM via Odin with download mode.
You need to have safe base.

If you have a problem with getting to cwm through 3-button combo try this:
pull out your battery, press vol up + home + power and insert battery, when your screen get on instantly release buttons.
From some time that's the only way to get into CWM on my SGS.

ok so i tried to flash odinrecovery but odin got stucked at nand write start...

What about flashing a new kernel? Not a recovery.
And did you try kronos111's method?

I had MIUIs rom it was flashed in december but i don't remember the version and i had mackay kernel

Go into download mode and flash your miui kernel once again as PDA - odin or haimdall. If your phone still doesn't boot than you'll have to flash 3-file GB with pit and re-partition. I use JW1 for this kind of reseting system

[Q] Help! Woke up this morning and phone won't turn on!

I woke up this morning and my phone won't turn on! I hold down power and see the Samsung splash screen... then the display goes off and nothing happens. I can't launch into recovery mode... I can launch into Download Mode, but can't do anything from there... (no response to any buttons)
I tried pulling out the battery and SIM - to no avail...
I am running a rooted Bell phone with the lag fix.
Please give me suggestions! What do I need to do to recover this using my PC and adb?
Time to recharge your SGS?
Before i give you the bad news
try Flashing the phone with Odin, see if you can complete a successful flash
However you'll most likely see an Odin error concerning mounting the drive, your Internal SD drive is most likely dead, and it'll need to be replaced by Samsung/Bell service center.
there are many known cases like this related to the lag fix

if you hold the power button, does it turn on at all?

I don't get the swirling logo... I just get the static splash page "Samsung Galaxy S" - it stays for about a second, then the screen goes black.
I'm trying to figure out what to do once I'm in download mode... I have Samsung Kies (which won't detect it...) and Odin (which won't detect it)

that doesn't sounds right
try installing Odin on another machine
seems like the PC you are trying to use has the USB port locked up.
i've had that happen on mine before
if you turn off the PC, remove the power cord
power it on, then put the power cord
and power it on again
that should reset it
Ok, Odin seems to recognize the phone (it installed all the drivers when it was in Download Mode) - I clicked "start" and got the following:
<ID:0/008> Added!!
<ID:0/008> Odin v.3 engine (ID:8)..
<ID:0/008> File analysis..
<ID:0/008> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/008> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/008> Removed!!
then the phone went back into the flashing battery symbol... I need to grab the official Bell Samsung Galaxy S .pit file I guess.
Samsung Kies just sat there trying to connect when the phone was in Download Mode...
Okay, so I've downloaded the 0803.pit file... I just need to know which firmware to flash it with under PHONE, PDA, CSC, and DUMP...
Would really appreciate the help!
JH2 firmware for all 3 and flash with correct pit file and click partition (but will wipe all data).

I'm just going to try to find JG9 and upgrade via Samsung Kies... that's if I can find JG9 - these are so hard to find!
Hi Mate,
I just had the same problem - could not reboot from normal recovery, could not reboot from clockworkmod recovery. I had to launch nandroid recovery.
On my unit, it seems that the problem was caused by a conflict between setcpu profiles and the alter minfree settings from ryanza's oclf.
If you have clockworkmod installed and have backed up your rom, you should be able to use nandroid recovery.
I have now changed setcpu not to run on boot, and have not used alter minfree - prob seems to be sorted.
Hope this helps (you or somebody else).
Regards, Paul.

when I tried to use odin again it got stuck in:

so I read this thread:

so I tried to flash the PIT file and odin got stuck again.
after that I pulled the battery out and now the power button wont do anything!
not even the smallest light on the screen.
I also tried to use combination with volume and home screen button. still nothing!
what do I do???

I am afraid that nearest samsung service centre is the next step my friend.
so you're saying after you pulled the battery and got it back in it doesn't goto download mode ? if you have a JIG try using it to force DownloadMode in case it does work and the pit doesn't work try re partition option with odin the partition (hopefully) just got messed and not the MOBO....

Which rom you were on before trying to flash? And what did you try to install?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I was on Android 4.0.3 the German realesed.
N7000XXLPY---------4.0.3---------2012 May
I downloaded it from the forum and it was working nicely. I just wanted to try a different rom. But I didn't get to do nothing just to clear the data which never ended and crash my phone..
Stuck after wiping user data, Odin hanging at the end..where exactly did it stop working?
I'd say that it's definitely superbricked.
you can do that:
- go on recovery (Try vol up + home + power)
- mount usb storage and put abyss kernel in a directory
- flash abysskernell4.00
- reboot recovery
- wipe data cache and dalvik
- power off
- power on
if it's stay on boot logo :
- power off
- vol down + home + power (download mode)
- flash your note with odin pc with this method
- dl mobil odin and flash ics open germany with this method
Noizy.
I will try that, but now i have to charged my battery to be able to do it.
When trying to flash the green bar on Odin gets almost to the end ot the proccess but then it just sits there and doesn't do anything...

Hey dude, I had a similar case when I was upgrading my S2 officially because my USB was loose, I got the update 60% and came to a halt, my phone wasn't even rooted by then.
Here's what I did and here's what you can try:
1. root my phone (for your case, re-root your phone or even unroot then re-root it again, there may be some files damaged when your phone lost power).
2. install original kernel and Stock ROM (there might be original files which are needed from the original to make things work when you switch ROMs)
3. reboot and see if things are fine.
If you get back to running normal, then you can install whatever Custom ROMs you like.
Hope this help! Get back to me with the latest situation.

Flashing CWM takes a minute, after that the phone will reboot.

You are talking about ClockworkMod, yes?
It replace Samsung's Recovery, if You flash it with ODIN there is no way it wouldn't run. Just turn the phone as I wrote before: Vol UP + POWER, and keep them pressed for 2, 3 seconds after Samsung logo appears. This will take you to recovery mode, and by so to CWM.
I'm using "recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ariesve.tar", but the latest one is: "CWM6012-TOUCH-CM9-recovery". As far as I know for this moment.

Download depends on Your country.
Download the file, use ODIN and select "One Package". Aries file will be needed to.

you cannot use Odin 1.85, only Odin 4.43 with ariesVe.ops

[Q] Galaxy S Plus GT i9001 stuck on Download Mode, no Recovery

Hello all,
I've got a bit of a problem with my Galaxy S Plus I9001, hoping you can help.
I tried flashing a new ROM on the phone, but for that I had to install a recovery first, so I tried installing Clockword Recovery. Somewhere in the process however, it went wrong, and now my phone won't boot anymore.
When I boot it up regularly it comes up with an icon of a phone and a computer with an orange triangle inbetween.
I can get into download mode by holding Volume up + power + home, but if I connect it to Odin (v.3.07), it's stuck on this:
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
I've been over a hundred different topics, trying to switch USB-ports and computers, using original USB-cable, but nothing seems to work. Phone is just stuck in Downloading.... mode all the time.
Does anyone maybe have any suggestions as to what I can do? Thanks so much in advance!
> When I boot it up regularly it comes up with an icon of a phone and a computer with an orange triangle inbetween.
= soft-brick. you can solve it

then you can change recovery to CWM or TWRP, this time by flashing the zip file in recovery mode, not by Odin.

Wow that did it! You sir, are a god among men, and you have my eternal gratitude, thanks so much!
I get a 'Status 7' error when I try to flash a custom ROM now, but I'll figure that out later for myself. At least I can get to use the phone again for now, thanks again!
