Game Lag and incoming call screen lags while playing games - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed JB XXLQ4 version with thunderzap kernel 3.61
However, when i play a game (eg subway surfer), the game lags a lot
And not only that, whenever there is an incoming call while playing the game, the call screen comes atleast after 10 seconds of the call made and the game goes out of control due to excess of lagging...
This call problem is annoying
Plz help!

I am also experiencing this problem.
Now Samsung should release stable and bugloss version.
Or we should downgrade to gb.

I noticed the same thing here after Thunderzap. The solution? Go back to stock kernel!!

Another factor is that Subway surfer was intended for iOS and not Android ..... and I reccomend thunderzap over the stock kernel ..
to fix lags use no frills and set it to pegasusq and sio

I am using Xxlq4 with thunderzap 3.0
And it works fine. At least better than stock kernel

although i would like 2 ask 2 questions:
1) how is the battery backup using these cpu config?
2) what if i use an 8gb sdcard, does it result in more lagging? i mean should i use 8gb card or a 2gb card? which would be better in terms of performance and why?

1) can't tell because I ofter connect phone to USB to try something
2) Size of SD card have nothing to do with performance.

mine too even from games-call lags 2-4secs or more before i can see swipe answer
from sleep mode rings first for 3-5 secs then swipe ans shows
from home screen 2-3 secs...
i have Q version

I was also facing same problem.
After using CoCore kernel and no Frill CPU configuration PegasusQ and sio my problem is solved.

1. Battery is preety good without plugging it into the pc... i use INTERACTIVE with SIO...see if it helps.
2.As shut_down said sd card dont effect lags but you could free up internal memory by installing apps on sd card!

most of times people complain lags which might also be because the game is installed on external sd card which is class 4 or class 6(slow sd cards)...make sure game is on internal memory....this ROM is not that stable...i also noticed a lot of bugs and lags....lets hope sammy comes with a stable jb soon

Starting with Optimus X2 needs, hints, must haves, possibilities

Hi there,
im new on the Optimus X2 and i am trying to figure out what you can do withit.
i got several questions and hope you can tell and or help me withit.
My first action on using Android was to put version 2.2.2 i think, on my HD2 Leo using clockwork and NAND. Had no experience to do stuff like that before, but great forum here helped me trough it.
so...
1.
I´ve heard about problems with the battery, that lifetime is not displayed right.
I think i may have something like that too. sometimes battery run out after only about 5-9 hours (using web and/or games)of course i am using it in that time but that seems to be a little bit too fast. In standby sometime it is turning off after 12-18 hours, of course using it with calls and sms sometimes.
2.
There normally should be an update or something, i thought the X2 is beeing delivered with android 2.3.? or will be updated soon after selling?
Are there any official information?
3.
I thought X2 will be out with 512mb ram?
when i start 3-4 apps and close them down, sometimes the advanced task killer shows before closing programs only 50-60 mb ram (is it ram?), after closing goes back up to about 180.
its not that nice when you want to take pictures or record video in F-HD is not working properly. have to close down everything before.
4.
What is this Cm7? i read alot about it, but i still dont know exactly what it is?
I`ve allready rooted my phone, whats a good app for deinstalling systemstuff and preinstalled games and apps?
5.
What are the 10 most useful and must have apps/programs to configure, style, and use youre phone?
6.
Are you guys using different roms? are there faster ones, more stable, less battery using?
7.
I got an 8gb external sd card, system only is showing , 4,9gb of 5,9gb free, maybe an sdcard bug like HD2 Leo had a time ago?
phone specification:
phone is rooted
I am using android 2.2.2
Baseband version 1035.21_20110405
Kernel version 2.6.32.9
Build number FRG83G
LG Version LGP990-V10d

Battery life is a bit of an issue with the stock rom, since, on Froyo, there apparently is a problem with idle power consumption. This is much better on some of the custom roms based on Gingerbread, e.g. CM7.

The "official" rumours are, that there will definatelly be a 2.3.* update, though when is not clear, we will possibly have to wait until fall to get it.

Ideally, Android should be managin the RAM for you. The device does have 512 MB RAM, but mind that there is alot of stuff on the stock rom. You can have more available to you by
deleting or disabling widgets on the stock rom
installing a custom rom

It is called CyanogenMod7, and is a very popular custom rom, which exists for a lot of different Android devices, including the LGOS. It is also based on 2.3.4, so it basically already is a Gingerbread Rom, but I think it still has a Froyo kernel and/or userspace, so not completely native.

I'm not gonna call out 10 apps here, but living in Germany, you should definatelly check out "Öffi" (free). I also find Maverick (payware), GPS Essentials (Free) and Dropbox (free) to be quite handy.

This depends on how happy you are with modding your phone and flashing things on it. There can be quite a bit of work necessary to get a custom rom running on your phone, but it might be worth your while. I've used custom roms mainly for the fact that they can have massively lower battery consumption when the phone is idling (e.g. display off, standby). When using the phone actively, I've not found differences to be that big regarding battery life.

You are probably confusing the internal sd card with your external one. Keep in mind that the LGOS has a 6GiB internal sd card.
ok
thank you for this detailed answer.
i will take a look on the other Roms and will try it i think.
The problem with the sd card is not from confusing with the internal one.
Using the App, App 2 SD Free phone memory is showing me 1,45GB, on SD Card which must be the internal one shows me 5,51GB and on moveable which seems to be the external sd card it shows me 1,45GB again instood of my 8GB SD?

Video lags with bult-in Camera-App

Hi all,
right from the start i noticed lags when recording videos with the LGOB - I´ve used 10a at first but then did a reflash with 10.c German. I use Go Launcher EX.
After flashing it seemed the video lags have dissapeared with the freshly installed phone, but now after a while and after i reinstalled all my apps it´s still as laggy as before, no matter if i record HD or TV format.
To me it seems that some background process may interfere with the camera recording... i´ve tried to use Tasskiller to kill all apps before running the video app but it doesn´t help much.
Is that something you just have to live with on the LGOB or is there any hint to correct this? The generel video quility is very ppor to, especially on quick pans lots of blacks are visible in the video image.
Thanks,
Kusie

same here with 10b firmware. today i wanted to record some long jumps and it skips 3 4 secconds. so i have just the landing or just half of the jumps! ( maybe the speed of the sdcard is the problem? I'll try with a class 6 sdcard to see if the problem is solved or not! this is a serious BUG for me!!!
i dont have this issue and i dont see this issue being brought up anywhere... hmm try installing Nova Rom?

I have read several similar complaints about video skipping and lagging on LGOB... right now i don´t want to go through the whole reinstalling process again after switching from 10.a to 10.c and reinstall all my apps and settings, i think that this basic functionality should be OK in the stock Rom, too.

Hi guys i use to have similar prob on v10b but since i updated my phone to v10e eu open every thing is fine and yes even scrolling is better. Video prob is soft prob not hardware or sdcard.

I have video lags on 10e as well...
now my lgob is in service
for dead pixels or subpixles. aprox 5 pixels! i hope that they will change the screen or change the device with another one. ( so 1 or 2 weeks of waiting!
Has this been fixed??! I'm really pissed off! I tried to record a Taekwondo tournament and I missed the best parts because it's skipping! [email protected]#! HELP!
i don't have any problem....i have v10b and stock card 2gb
I have v10e firmware and Class10 card and no video issues. One of these helped, I assume 10e is that good.
The problem is with SD Card.... It doesn't have enough speed to "write" to sd card your video recording... The cache buffer gets full and it needs to "empty - write" to your card before it can record again...
For most of video recordings with this resolution you need a class 6 sd card - minimum!
Best choice... class 10!
Expensive... but it solves this problems!
i have the same problem with both v10a and v10c. now i changed for a class 10 , 16gb sd card, but the bug still remain; and it can't be cuz the quality of sd card, cuz i tested it and i have 13mb/s in write...
Thats weird!! I've tested this with v10a... and v10f and it works in here!
And... the problem you complain its usually caused by card speed as i said...
Sorry to hear that the problem still remains...
I use a class 10 16gb and nova rom and still lags (not like before)
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App
Format the card with 32kb allocation size and try to restart the phone every time you take a bunch of pictures... That seems to solve the prob for me... To make things simple, I just reboot the phone everyday...
Maybe i solved it. I have installed sd card booster from market and set a value of 2048 as adviced , and now seem to be no lag at all...

[Q] O2x performance degradation.

Got a sim free o2x and immediately upgraded it to gingerbread using LG's tool.
I have noticed that the performance degrades over time especially noticable with scrolling web pages and youtube.
From a clean boot, i fire up youtube and can watch big bug bunny in 1080p full screen and very smooth. When I come back to it a few days lastr, the same video stutters and the audio also skips. I can create this effect a lot quicker by playing something with the built in video player. After having played a video on SD card, i go back to youtube and its a stutter show again.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this using standard gingerbread on the O2x? I'v tried killing various apps and uninstalling others but nothing very scientific and the only way I can get back to normal performance if with a reboot. Any help gratefully appreciated!
Sounds to me like the ram is busy. Just try an app that cleans up the ram.
Stock kernel has bug in memory management. Solution is to flash for example Spica's kernel, latest r11-c is very very good.
Evidently that supposes to root - instal clockwork mod recovery first.

I have a problem with Spica's kernel , I think that it doesnt support netfilter (iptables) thus I cant use Droidwall, any solution?
Thanks
Instal iptables from market?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mgranja.iptables
Edit: the app says that iptables is already installed in kernel, not in the latest version but present. That's perhaps the problem. Only thing is to ask Spica to update to last version.
Ohhhh, i will check it later! thanks!!!
Have tried some RAM clean up apps, unfortunately it makes no difference. The amount of RAM free seemed to make no difference, i had it running smoothly with 82mb free and stuttering with over 100mb ram. If something like this was happening on my linux box I would assume something is hogging the cpu but the apps i have tried seem to indicate nothing is consuming a lot of cpu resources.
I don't want to consider reflashing with another ROM if I can avoid it. Is there anything else I could try?
Kernel problem. Read above.

Reboot your dam phone then.... pcs also get laggy when they have been on for a long time, so reboot and or flash a decent kernel.
Use stock kernel\rom from 20o
I have the same problem. After about 36 hours, the phone becomes laggy. It lags when waking up the screen, it lags in menus, etc so i have to reboot it every 36 hours or so.
Speaking of kernels and roms, i've tried them all by now. From CM7 (which i could not get along with, functionality wise) to Topogigi, spica, Thanatos, carburano, gueste and erestor.
I am now on gueste 2.1 stable SR1 and the problem persists.
After about 16 hours wake-up and the lockscreen lags, after about 24 hours scrolling becomes choppy, after 36 hours dialer, contacts and other apps start slowly and lag big time.
This is the same behaviour in all roms and kernels tried (except CM7 which is a no go for me).
L.E.:
Of course, rebooting solves the problem for the next 20 hours or so, but its quite inconvenient.

[Q] problem when playing music

Change it for good..
Make sure SD Card Cache size is set to 128KB... Sometimes, this happens if another app is accessing the SD that are usually slow like Class 2 (which I have)...
Try SD Booster or something, I think it's effective...
use swap, sdcard cache

just by making wipes will not solve your lag problems
you have to uninstall unnecessary apps and have to root your phone so that you can change its governing settings with apps like no frills cpu from conservative to performance and to flash scripts like fly on mod which improves speed upto an extent
