Hey guys,
Long story short, I am currently on the JB Leak'sOTA update. Problem: My phone is a little slow and the Root Checker app says my system is running slow, I think my kernel or something is damaged from how I kept root through the OTA. I can't go back to ICS or the JB leak from where I am so my only option for a fresh start would be to flash stock Jellybean. Is this possibly yet? I know the bootloader is locked but are the Fastboot files available? I had already pmed a couple devs about this a while back.
I am getting my HTC One X+ this weekend soI can test any untested Fastboot files that have risk of bricking of Atrix HD. It isn't vital, I would just like to get it back to full speed if it's possible!
I'd use rsd lite and flash the sbf for jb.
Need stock JB

I have sort of the same problem. Bought the phone with stock JB installed. Rooted with new exploit yesterday, left my brain in another room, and started uninstalling things left and right in Titanium Backup - of course without making a backup.
Of course now the phone is starting to act up - hardware wise - and I need to get it back to stock before sending it in to Moto. So would the sbf for jb be the solution, and where could it be downloaded? Also - would it delete that nasty "qe 1/1" message in stock recovery - you know, the one ratting out that you've been naughty?
Thanks!
Flash using RSD (remember to edit the xml the same way)
You won't have issues, however you'll have to root again

"remember to edit the xml the same way" - I don't understand that part. What file am I to edit, and what am I adding/replacing?
You have a zip file right? If you don't, the FXZs are in zip/rar format.
You need to extract it. It contains the stock data and an xml file.
When flashing using RSD you have to point to the xml file.
Open up the xml using notepad, ctrl+f and search for 'getvar', there'll be two lines containing it, remove those lines and save the file. Continue.
It'll work without issues

Do you mind linking me to the downloads?? Just want to make sure I get the right stuff. Just the standard US ATT version of the phone.

Well that didn't work out too well...I was on stock JB. Rooted with new exploit. Installed bootstrap and custom ROM. Wanted to get back to stock, so I uninstalled bootstrap, and flashed MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886_FFW-20-27-release-keys-ATT-US_BuildA.xml.zip.
RSD failed with 'getvar' and 'oem'. I then edited the xml, removed 'getvar' and 'oem', and retried the flash. RSD failed at system.img.
I then booted the phone into fastboot and did the whole thing manually thru fastboot and terminal. This time everything went through okay. I rebooted the phone into stock recovery and erased cache. But now the phone is stuck in bootloop on the red m logo.
What am I missing?
Use RSD again, use 6.1.4
I remember mine failed at least 2 times, I kept retrying and it worked. Mine was stuck at the system.img too, just retried and it went througj

Root ICS, Root JB, Install SS, back to stock ICS, back to stock JB and maybe a ROM index (only joker and batakang for now, I know, but other ROMs are probably comming)

I went and rooted my droid 4, and without knowing about safestrap, i started backing up and deleting apps with the free version of Titanium Backup. I now have a couple of apps that will not restore back into place, and i am unable to perform the upgrade. Since then, i have installed safestrap, and attempted to flash the rom at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508341, but all i do is bootloop on my safe system. Any idea what i can do to fix the unsafe side so i can apply the 219 update? Am i kinda out of luck until the fastboot files are released?
try asking here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=565
this forum is nearly dead, like 5 people a day visit here, very few people have a droid 4
i wish i could help more, but im not very good at this, but there are more people there that could help
What I'd do is download the stock recovery files that Hashcode has put up, and make sure you have anything you want backed up, and try advanced restore and flash all 3 options. As for the boot loop, did you try to clear cache and dalvik cache?
Are you referring to the [SAFESTRAP ROM] Stock MotoBlur 6.13.215 for Droid 4 at droidforums (forum won't let me post link) for hashcode's stock recovery? Or do you mean simply uninstalling the safestrap recovery from the safestrap app? I haven't played much with the stock recovery, so i'm not sure what 3 options you are referring to.
As far as the safe side, i wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache in the advanced menu, and done a factory reset... still bootloops...

I am having the same issue. I was recommended to unzip the stock rom posted and attempt either a direct or adb push install of those apk's that are missing. Someone did this one by one and was successful in installing the 219 update.
You could attempt to install the stock rom through safestrap to get the update. please make sure that you are at full 100% charge as most roms wont flash correctly with less. I recommend getting full charge and flashing while still plugged in.
Hey guys, so what exactly is going on? You are missing apks on your main system, and your safe system bootloops?
So, your primary system functions, it just is missing bloatware, preventing you from updating? I just want to be sure I understand before making a recommendation.
Welp, i got some good news, i got the main system fixed and then updated. I took a stock 215 rom, extracted the /system/app folder and the system/build.prop to the sd card. Then i simply copied the contents of that folder into the /system/app on the root of the system with a file manager (used estrong's, other file managers that support root should work.), copied the build.prop to /system, and then did the update OTA. I lost safestrap and root, but i was able to reroot with moto fail... i have not tried reinstalling safestrap yet, nor have i mess with the bloatware like i did last time.

I sort of did the same thing. I downloaded the rooted stock from and unzipped it. I then rebooted and manually tried to install the update and noted what files needed to be restored and then I coped them to dropbox then moved them to /system/app and it worked
I attempted to move the files but got an error when doing so saying I could not move them to the folder. The only file I seem to be getting the error with is backupassistantclient.apk but that might be because it is getting to that first and erroring out. Does Astro not support root to ove the files in /system, etc?

Why don't you just flash it back to stock instead of messing it up more. I got a thread up here on our to do that.
I was playing once like that with the Nook Tablet. It took me 3 weeks to fix it. I hope you don't fall under the same crap with your phone

I am trying to update to ics from 2.3.6 I have uninstalled safestrap and frozen root with otarootkeeper. I get hung up during install, so I checked my error log. It seems I am missing files from /preinstall specifically from /knowyourdevice which no longer exists. Is there a way of getting a copy so I don't need to go through fast boot? There was a link up elsewhere, but it's dead. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I recommend to flash fastboot 4.0.4 files.
I know, but this has turned into a pet project for me. I was really hoping to do it the hard way. There was a link up in the dev forum, but it's dead now...
I had the same issue when upgrading. Turns out, the update scans your system for ANY modifications that would signify you were, or had been rooted. You either need to completely remove anything that signifies you are rooted and any apps that require root, or sbf to either gb or ics. Doing a simple factory format still leaves files behind. Honestly, just doing an sbf would easier, as it ensures your system is 100% clean. If you need new links to the one click sbf, I can pm you a link later.

make sure phone is at least 50% battery (or 100% just to be sure).
Be sure rdlite and fxz (stock firmaware) reside both within your hard drive (i used to pull those both from an external HDD) if by any chance the flash process is interrupted in the middle of a specific action, you might be exposed to brick your phone.
Tried this several times...get unknown fastboot error. Any ideas? I made sure I had the correct firmware.

Use the firmware from the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853522
and use the edited xml file from this post:

That should do the trick.

Did you make sure to unzip the xml file? Also, which firmware are you trying to flash? The xml is from the last update (77.12.22 on AT&T). If you are trying to flash an older firmware or are on Bell I can edit the correct xml file and upload after I get off work today.
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
Tried to flash the one in the post that was put up in your response to me. I did unzip the xml file. When I replace the xml file and try to flash in rsd lite is when I get the error. If I open the file...the whole thing is empty.
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
I'll reupload the xml file when I get home. You said you used the firmware in the post. When you click the link in the post it should list 3 firmwares. 1 is for Bell and the other 2 AT&T. The AT&T ones are 7.7.1Q-115 and 7.7.1Q-144. The 115 is the original firmware the phone was shipped with and 144 is the recent update. The xml file is from the update. Which one did you use?
If you are still having problems flashing send me a pm with the apks you deleted. I'll send you the ones you need and you can push them to the proper directories manually.

Hi there!
I'm having the exactly same issue. I've tried flashing both firmwares (115 and 144) and always get error in RDS. Right now every time I turn off and turn on the phone again, it goes straight to the fastboot screen. It says:
Fasboot Reason: Sticky bit factory_fastboot
Anyway I'm still able to reboot the phone with the volume up+down combo, then I have to select Normal powerup in order the phone actually starts. All works fine once it's started but it don't get back to the stock rom. Making a factory reset or wipe data from stock recovery neither seems to work. Actually It even have installed some personal apps such Google Chrome or it still have root that I earlier applied.
If I want to try flashing the 115 firmware first, which line I need to edit on the XML file to avoid RDS errors?
Any help would be great!

Those who have problem in flashing latest ICS stock ROM via RSD,try replacing 7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml inside folder to THIS. Just open the zip and replacing it.
Hello, when y try to perform the point 7 of the following process:
Get RSD Lite 6.14 (recommended version) for Windows only.
Get the stock firmware file, make sure you pick the latest ICS firmware file here (7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml.zip) for AT&T.
After successfully downloaded, extract the zip file. And edit the 7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml file using notepad, and then remove 2 lines with getvar.step operation=”getvar” var=”max-download-size”
Open RSD Lite, open the XML file that you have edited before.
Turn off your phone, and then enter the Boot Mode Selection Menu by press and hold the following keys together (Volume Up+Volume Down+Power). Using vol down, scroll to AP Fastboot menu, and then vol up to select it.
Connect Atrix HD to PC via USB, your phone will be recognized by RSD Lite as MB886.
Now it’s time to hit the Start button, and please wait for about 10-25 minutes.
Once the flash process done, your device will reboot. Your Motorola Atrix HD (MB886) should restore to stock and unroot now.
I disconnected the cable, and now I receive the following message:
RSDLite: Failed flashing process. 1/23 flash partion \\gpt_main0.bin – Phone returned FAIL.
ATRIX HD: downgraded security version
update gpt_main version failed
preflash validation failed for GPT.
Each time that I turn on the equipment, I need to go to Fastboot menu and select normal boot.
Can you help me?
Regards
You made the same error I did. I tried to flash back to ics which it will not allow. From here you can either deal with the having to turn your phone off and volume up, down and power at the same time to booty your phone, or you can run the latest file that has been uploaded by the firmware team to get rid of it. Unfortunately this will put your phone to unrooted jelly bean with no real possibility of root at the moment.
The file name is MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886_FFW-20-27-release-keys-ATT-US_BuildA.xml.zip .
Good luck.

I forgot you need to edit the xml file and remove a couple lines. I don't have the file on this computer or else I would tell you exactly what they are. When you try to flash though it will say it fails on something like getvar just remove the lines that have getvar in it, there should only be two or three lines that need to be removed.

So this will fix the Atrix HD that starts into bootloader everytime? I just got a replacement through Asurion 3 days ago and I messed up and updated to Jelly Bean before I rooted it. Then the nightmare began. Couldn't figure out the AHD Utility that was supposed to fix this also.
It was suggested I call Asurion insurance in a couple weeks and tell them I lost the phone before I could send it back and switch motherboards from the broken LCD phone with Rooted Jelly Bean. But I think they'd be able to track the IMEI and punish me for keeping it.

I tried all of em for AT&T and not of them will work. The release for the fix is the one that keeps requesting a password when I try to unzip the file.
Is it possible to downgrade the AT&T Atrix HD back to ICS to root? I can't find any solid facts, some places say yes, some say no, some say look around to see anyone else's issues. I don't know where to look. I can't find solid facts and would like an answer.
ReverseZero seems to be saying no, Winiwini seems to be saying no, I don't know what to do. I have the RSD and ICS .xml, but I don't want to risk a brick or anything.
So I got CM10 up and running and kept getting an error with .android.media so I powered off. When i reboot it doesn't go past the "Warning bootloader unlocked screen". I google it and find something that says to try to wipe \sdcard. I do that and now backups and rom files are gone from CWM...I think I really screwed up this time...
EDIT: I suppose my actual question is what I do now since all the files are gone
Yea wiping the sd card was a bar idea. All of your stuff is gone now. Your gonna have to flash stock with rsd. For future reference you generally only wipe data and factory reset. Also you might wanna go and read through all the information about what everything does and how it works. Because it seems like your kinda guessing and don't really know what your doing and your gonna end up bricking your phone.

Ok, I've flashed stock before. I just get the file, remove the "getvar" lines then...transfer to phone? Last time I did this my phone was actually functioning.
.. No. Go into the android development section and get a stock rom then you put your phone in fastboot mod and flash the file through rsd lite.
Sent from my Rage MATRIX HD MAXX
So I finally downloaded the file but now my computer wont install the device drivers -_- It says it failed and I'm guessing its because the phone won't boot. Since the drivers wont install it isn't picking up the device (i think). Is there anything else I can do?
EDIT: I just remembered why we have the Internet.
Yeah.. You can go to the Motorola site and get the drivers lol.

There was a thread somewhere on the Atrix HD section saying to use the Motorola Photon Q's clockworkmod and a bunch of people were saying it worked fine. I did it and you helped me flash the rom using clockwork. The cyanogen I flashed is the one in the Development section with the working camera. I restored my stuff with titanium and it said to reboot. I was going to bed so I just hit Power Off and when i tried to turn it back on it got stuck at the bootloader unlock screen,
Did you make sure to wipe data and system along with the cache? And mount the system before flashing?

1. Install the ROM
2. Install my AHD Fix -- must disable zip file verification
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4. Wipe Cache
5. Reboot and enjoy!
I did all of this.
