[Q] "Weird brick" ?!

Hello...
I have a problem with my SGS. I was on Darky 9.5, and decided to upgrade to JVB. I had CWM & working recovery on Darky 9.5, I disabled lagfix, and I downloaded deodexed JVB rom - in a zip file. I flashed it trough cwm, and it worked. With some issues. The rom (JVB) worked fine, but dialer app force closed a lot, and it was slow, gps badly working etc... I rooted trough odin with chainfires kernel 3.1 and then flashed a small zip file that enabled overscroll glow effect. And all of those things worked. I tried to flash to stock rom using odin and download mode but when I connect my sgs, my pc cannot recognize it. It says "USB device not recognised". So I cannot use ODIN, and also all of a sudden, i cannot enter cwm, even with 3 button combo. I tried this on 3 computers, and I have a second SGS which works fine, including download mode & odin DOES recognise it. So drivers should be fine. Anyone have a solution to this problem? I CAN start DOWNLOAD mode but 3 PC's don't recognize it. And my other SGS works on ALL 3 PC's.
Oh, I fogote to write. I directly flashed 2.3 JVB cwm zip (deodex. file) from cwm (darky 9.5) and that didnt't update bootloaders. The JVB rom booted and worked fine, but after powering on sgs displayed a weird looking boot screen, but the rom booted successfully anyway.

Install galaxy s and nexus s drivers on your pc, download odin1.7, download stock gingerbread, tick reparation and phone bootloader update, connect your phone in download mode and click start

u need to update ur bootloader for 2.3.3

Ok, and I already did the same
I tried all of those things, and it didnt work, it won't recognize sgs when in download mode. Only thing I didn't try is using nexus s drivers... I will try that.
Is there a term "usb bricked?!?"

Have you tried to turn on usb debugging in applications-development?

I just got a samsung galaxy SII epic touch. like an idiot I went to this forum to try to root it. Now I can't get back to the hboot menu. It just sais that it is downloading and hangs. How can I undo this??? Since then I have rooted the phone. Please help!

Try installing a rom using odin..guess an official rom will be good..this shud work if the phone can go into download mode..

I wish I could but I cannot get to hboot. Every time I try to get to the boot menu it goes into the download kernal mode which does nothing.

But if it goes into download mode, install odin on you computer and you should be able to see your phone?
then you install a rom for your phone trough Odin, i notice that you say you got an SGS II this for instanse is the forum for SGS 1

ok. but if I do this will it only root my phone? I have already done that. what I need is to stop the phone from going into this download mode instead of going to the hboot. Now I have a rooted phone that will not go into hboot mode. Is there some sort of startup folder that puts me into this mode? Is there a file that I can delete so I can get into hboot when I reboot?

Unable to access download mode on 2.1

I did the Odin one click to bring my phone back to full stock after having issues. i then downloaded ROM manager from the market, since i am running 2.1 eclair i just flashed it via the app. now to upgrade to a new rom, i need to enter download mode. I thought you could always hold in the power buttons and plug in the usb cable, but that isnt working. this CWM version doesnt have a rebbot recovery option in advanced either. really need download mode, any experts got a tip or two..

You may want to check out the "Captivate Connection Issues" thread. That should get you to download or recovery mode.
Also, it's probably best to let go of Rom Manager - it's not very useful on the Captivate.

and my computer isnt recognizing the phone, as well as Odin is not either...

I'd say to keep trying, and try Heimdall if you haven't already. The phone--/!\--pc screen should work as a download mode.

Yeah it didn't work for me as download mode. I just went to radio shack bought some resisiters and made a little USB jig that got me into the regular download mode though.

download mode wont find phone

okay iv been looking everywhere and i cant find a answer for this. I been trying to get cwm on my sgh-i897 and having no luck. I tried looking for a update.zip and each one failed each time i tried to reinstall update. Then went to odin it wont find my phone in download mode but when its in regular it notices it but never gets pass setting up connection. anybody know a way i can get cwm on here or a hemidall (sp) that will install a cwm kernel for me? Plz any help would be awesome at this point.n

here is the thing
i use the odin to install this : I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0
and my captivate is 2.1
the process was successful but when it came to my phone...it just keeps restarting the at&t logo all the time!!!!!
I plug my phone into PC,the screen changes to battery and I press many combinations of buttons,,both computer and phone
do not react at all!!! now i cannot get into downloading mode and odin cannot recognize my phone.
any one who can help me???

Here is a thread that may help ya get into Download mode... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33227541&postcount=1.
If that thread doesn't help, then u will need a Jig to get ya into download mode. And once there, i would suggest flashin to KK4 GB 2.3.5 here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3.
