Bootloader cracked - we're back in business!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Looking to encourage some dev CyanMod love now that our Jelly Bean Atrix HD has finally been freed from captivity.
As with discovering and developing hacks for root/bootloader, cooking ROMs takes time and is not a paid job. Developers do what they do in their spare time as a hobby, and out of passion for the certain device.
I'll start with a $10 contribution, AND match each contribution with $0.50.
miko85: $10
marcelarr $10
LeGenDz R3DeaDz $10
$5 more from me

However let's not turn this into a trend for every ROM lol

I agree, but I think that a stable release of CyanogenMod is the absolute minimum we should have for this phone. From there other ROMs will blossom...

Yeah, unfortunately. There's already a thread by tcf38012 that says he'll release a stable cm10.1 once the bootloader is unlocked. How long that will take, however, is unknown.

Agreed!!!
A bootloader unlock most likely would need to come from within Motorola itself. We will need to find it via cheesecake or get it leaked some other way.
Change this to a Kexec Bounty! It will be money better spent, and you'll eventually get 10.1 as a byproduct.

Motorola unfortunately, will probably never unlock our boot-loader. They're boot-loader policy proves they're anti-bootloader-unlocked. I find this strange being that the company was bought out by Google, the creator of android and won't seem to let us develop, even though they said its a paramount part of the "Android Ecosystem". We could ask Dan Rosenberg, hes our best hope, the one that got us root.

Or if we can just freakin get a cid and utags of a dev edition / bell unlocked, then we can most likely have our bootloader unlocked by now :cyclops:.
And yes, its always worth a shot
Re: Pledge for CyanogenMod 10.1 Bounty ($35)
Guys they will most likely unlock it after AT&T thinks this phone is "old". Remember it's AT&T locking therm not the OEMs.

Count me in for 10 please... I used to have a Motorola bravo with a locked boot loader and cm10 ran quite smooth given the sub par specs.

It's most likely impossible, but for a Bell user to be able to flash an ATT SBF and actually have it work would be amazing. As I'm 99% sure if we ever see gingerbread come from Bell this month (or summer for that matter) it most likely will not have an unlocked bootloader. I'm willing to do whatever necessary in order to help.
I'm no expert, but so far what I know of the difference involves the fact that we were able to install ATT themes/psuedoRoms by booting into recovery and using "Wipe DATA/Factory Reset". (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070076). Why this is so I'm not sure.
Thanks for any consideration of the topic.
Ok. I'm no dev and I don't have bell. However, I was thinking... Could you use recovery to flash a flashable .zip file of the 1.83 update and then unlock that way? Not sure if that would work at all but it just crossed my mind.

OP - Requests do not belong in the development section. For future reference. It does suck that Bell is lagging so far behind AT&T though...
If your referring to that fact that they were able to get the Chinese version to load onto an ATT phone and then unlock the bootloader and not the Bell then yes unfortunate...But Bell isn't lagging behind ATT...Correct me if im wrong but i don't remember hearing any official announcements about when ATT was going to be getting the official gingerbread update.
On topic, i too wonder if there is a way to merge the two as it seems very fragmented right now.
From what i understand it's a matter of the Bell Atrix having a different "framework" than ATT.
Hopefully some Dev's care enough to maybe make a go at it? =)
my 2 cents
cheers
Guys the UK official gb release is coming out the same day as the ATT one. We can just flash the uk one, unlock, and then flash any atrix roms can we not?

I agree, Motorola said they would only unlock bootloaders where "carriers permit".
However, what would be the result of flashing an ATT sbf, as I don't know if anyonr has tried it but I have heard that RSDLite doesn't allow a Bell phone to flash an ATT sbf. If the hardware in the two phones is identical then at least in theory they should be able to flash either sbf. Or am I wrong?

Maybe i can look into where i can locate the build.prop file and send it to you=)

Hello all KFHD users, I am writing this to ask a few questions and get some gears turning.
1st:Are there any true devs here? If you have to ask whether you are, well you aren't.
2nd:I have been researching locked boot loaders, and it seems our locked boot loader is similar to the nook tablet, found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1440438
3rd:Is anyone excited? I love when I plan gets ready to start coming together...

I was looking forward to buying this phone instead of the GS3 as I'm on T-Mobile. However, when I was browsing through the Development section I don't see anything. Can anyone inform me on why this phone doesn't have that much ROM support yet?

Locked boot loader my man. We have root now. Root and safestrap are pretty recent, so that's why there are limited ROMs. We couldn't root for a while, but now we can, but only if you stay on ICS to root before upgrading to the leaked JB.

Another thing is that we only have 8Gb of internal storage, thus leaving little room for ROM slots on the internal sdcard using SS3 recovery.
I just finished an internal/external memory swap script in the DEV section, so this should help free up some space for ROMs.

There are two different Atrix HD ROM's out as of 12/02/2012. Must not have looked very hard.
Don't expect Development on a Locked Bootloader.

Yes, I've rooted, installed safestrap, made a back up. Haven't tried that script to switch internal and external memory yet, sounds scary.
Just saw on Engadget that Razr HD and Razr HD Maxx just got 4.1 official. Hope that comes to Atrix HD too (and all carriers).

OK hi guys, I've done a couple of searches and didn't come up with anything so I wanted to be safe than sorry. I have an AT&T atrix HD and love it but I did the JB update and waited for the bootloader unlock and root 1 click methods. Well when I got the phone it was ICS and I want to revert it to back to ICS for lapdock support and I just kinda liked the feel of it. Now my major question is if I do the downgrade am I gonna lose my SIM unlock because I currently do not have the money to get me an unlock code. Thanks for your help guys it is very much appreciated
If it was locked in the first place then , yes there is a good chance.
SENT BY POST...
Yeah when I got it I was told it had been unlocked, guess I shouldn't have upgraded it but then again I was new to the Atrix scene. The last Motorola I had was the Droid 1
I if you are talking about sim unlock then it will never relock once it is unlocked.
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
Yeah we're talking Sim unlocked I have my Atrix unlocked for T-Mobile. So if I won't lose it I want to revert to ICS which is what it was when I bought it
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
The sim unlock is like unlocking the bootloader... it cannot be reverted. Years ago, many Motorola firmwares could really sim lock again the phone... but i'm talking about the old V3, Z1 and every P2K, P2K05 and MotoMagx phones. But that was on 2004/08!!! Today this is not an issue anymore.

I have a ATT unlocked phone I use on Bell/Telus in Canada.
I downgraded to ICS (yes, for the lapdock correct hdmi support; and by the way, **** you Motorola )
and the phone is still SIM unlocked
So no you will not loose the SIM unlock by downgrading.
