Hi guys. I need to root my girlfriends N7000 to SIM unlock it and eventually change the ROM. Somehow, she managed to damage the USB port and it only charges but connecting the phone to a PC wont detect it so I can't root using a PC.
My question is, are there still any apps like z4root to root the phone without USB?
The phone is on KL3,
Thanks!
The only way i remeber to root the gb is by pushing a cf-kernel into the fone and it can't be done without connecting it to pc

I have a Galaxy Note N7000 and i was updating it via Kies. So you know, i have an average Wifi connection and it took about 2 hours to download the ics update through Kies. as many of you will be familiar with the procedure, my phone was supposed to be connected throughout the process. when it was finally downloaded and was going to be transferred to my phone, i got an error saying USB device not recognized by the computer and it told me to try again. Now i dont know if i'll be able to go through that process all over again just to find out my device isnt supported even if it is recognised in the first place. Im using a Windows 7 dell Inspiron. My phone is not rooted. I dont plan to root nor do i want a custom ROM. I can easily transfer media to the phone using a usb cable just fine but when the download finishes, the phone is not recognisable. What seems to be the problem? is it because of the Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)? I just need to know what may be causing the "unrecognisable" problem so i can move on and get this over with.
I'll be sure to click on Thankyou for anyone who helps me.
Your computer might be sleeping and fails to wake up the usb devices. Have a look at your power settings and put it to "always on".
Or download the rom and flash via odin. Dr. Ketan has the full guide and files in the developer section.

Struggling to find an up to date guide on how to root 2.21 for this phone.
Biggest issue is, the usb is broken on this phone, and I am charging via putting batteries into a external battery charger, so I need to be able to root and put a custom rom on via the phone and sd card, without using the usb or programs on pc.
I tried an old z4root apk I found and it didn't seem to work, so any ideas?
Thanks
?

Hey guys,
So I connect my Note to my computer via the USB cable that I've got when I bought the phone. It automatically charges but I can't seem to access files on it/make the device visible. Tried downloading the drivers with no success. I wish to unroot my device and update from 4.0.4.
I rooted the phone about 6-7 months ago and I keep getting that problem ever since.
P.S. The USB debugging feature under Options->WiFi->USB doesn't work.
Try installing kies from the Samsung site and then try again.
