This file should be flashed after you flash standard official cm10.1 nightly (which you have to remove the P990 assert as aragorn7's guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850967).
The kernel works fine - just remember to come to setting/performance/processor and change minimum cpu freq to 216

what build of kowalsky?

Uhm, really ? Would be nice to have had a heads up at least before building this... i'm actively developing this kernel and i don't find it really fair to just pick it up and compile it as-is.
BTW it's kowalski, not kowalsky...
Tell the guy who ported it to the SU660 to send me pull requests on github with his fixes please, so i can build SU660 versions directly from my source and keep it in sync with the P990 one

Hi pengus77, sorry if you feel it inconvenient. This guy minhhang129 only compiled a version - which serves as temp because since CM team upgrade to CM10.1 , the wkpark kernel seemed not work anymore.
This guy's english is no as good, and so is mine. And I actually am a casual user who dont know about technical matters, things about github and fixes prove too much for me - thats why this version only works like a waiting version for SU660 user who really want a working kernel (though with some acceptable bugs) for old bootloader CM10.1 Nightly and only so
We are looking forward to hearing from your kernel for SU660 and thank you.
P/S: I have changed the name

First, unless someone can get that guy 'minhhang129' to work with Pengus77, we won't be enjoying this kernel's full feature (it comes with OC but not really working)
Second, why is it only for CM10.1? :/
I'm not really fond of using that ROM so I think I will just stick to using PA + wkpark's kernel
last, just want to thank Pengus77 for his concern and I blame TS for the misspelled Kowalski hahah

, I dont really compile it out this kowalski kernel so dont blame me hehe minhhang must know this but me dont
This kernel allow OC actually, I am using max processor freq at 1200 which you can max it at 1456. It's a pity but as I said minhhang's english is not so good and I only know him online so cant work out. Can I ask you one thing: is paranoid good??? I really want to try it , hehe, but does everything work right now? eg. video decoder etc
Trying the PA 2.5. it boots forever
Can you show me how to install PA, it seems goods
yup, it's very smoooooth!
I'm currently on build4 and never had issue, video playback is fine too(I'm using MX Player), games are all working well too.
I actually tried build5 but some apps and games are not working for me so i revert back to build4
its worth a try! heheh

I've just tried it and see a lot of potential in there, especially the nav - bar. Very cool. But version 2.3 is without project butter I think. I am using CM10.1 for long and when use 2.3 version I still see version 2.3 not as smooth as cm10.1 nightly. Maybe just my feeling. I just back off to CM10.1
If pengus77 can build a version of his famous kernel for SU660 which can run PA 2.6 - I think I will stick with this Paranoid Android - It's very cool
Tks anyway and pray for a new kernel for PA 2.6
you can use wkpark's fix and kernel for PA 2.6 too.
just download PA ROM 2.6 (whichever build u like) then rename it to 'cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-p990'
someone can make a kernel for the new bootloader??

I do need testers on this device. Hit me up on IRC (irc.freenode.net) in #tiamat. If you're not familiar with IRC, use http://tiamat-dev.com/web-chat/ to log in to the channel.
Hey, the desire s needs an AOSP kernel. It runs on the same processor as this phone (MSM 8255), so maybe you can make one........
If someone can tell me how to reflash the CM7 kernel (in case wifi bug still exists), I'd be happy to test this out also.
Would I just reflash the CM7 nightly I want to run, as (afaik) the kernel is packaged with it?
Yep ... reflash the nightly and you will hav the cm kernel again
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA App
Ok, well 1.0.3 has fixed the wifi issue. This puts you 1 step ahead of CM right now, as in the latest nightly the kernel was updated and wifi was broken in the process .
It's 245am here, so I will try and write more tomorrow. Just wanted to report that wifi is working .

CM hasn't merged support for the saga (Desire S) in to their kernel yet, but the HTC source is out. I would love to add the device in with this series of kernels (and the lexicon -merge- when that source is out), but that isn't a project I can commit to without some testers or having the device.
If you're willing to test, let me know and I can work on it.

Yes i am, and not just me, there's a bunch of people dying to have an AOSP kernel for the CM7 port. Check this - you'll find many enthusiasts here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166867

Hi Cayniarb
Count me in for Desire S kernel testing.
I would certainly be happy to test a Desire S kernel too. Using a stripped down Sense ROM right now because of the battery drain on the unofficial CM7 mod, but would love to switch to CM7 full time.
Have plenty of Linux experience and know my way around Android, ADB, fastboot / etc.
Cheers =)
Since this is quickly turning in to a Desire S thread...........
I have a built kernel for the device - but as I don't have it, I have no clue if it works. I'd rather not post a link for a test build like this publicly.
I have the code isolated in a branch away from the mainline (cm-like, really cm+ tbolt) branch for testing, but I see nothing that should make merging it in very difficult. Check it here: http://code.tiamat-dev.com/7x30/htc-kernel-msm7x30/commits/android-msm-2.6.35-saga
The best way to contact for testing is via IRC. If you're not familiar with it, I have a webportal for it setup on my site to make it easy: http://tiamat-dev.com/web-chat/
wonderful .

Yes, I'll second this. Am running MIUI with Tiamat 1.0.4 and Vipermod to undervolt, setcpu down to 650/192mhz and running on conservative governor. Experiencing great battery life, full stability, and the rom still runs smooth. Amazing job!
[ROM] ***Cyanogenmod 7.2 Official®*** [DOWNLOAD & DISCUSSION] {Last Update-01/02/13}
This is the Download and Discussion thread for Official CM 7 and I would be maintaining it and keep up to date time to time.
So basically all official CM 7 stuff should be discussed here rather than making specific threads in general forum which I have seen been increased lately. People just make useless threads rather than doing a little search which just add as just to our forum. So please for all official CM 7 updates, bugs etc. use this thread. Just go through this post once and make all basic doubts clear...

I've come up to an conclusion but I've not yet tested because i'd like to see my battery performance, logically we may use squad's prior kernels for tj_style's rom. And about the camera orientation, i managed to make it worked, simply pull the camera.apk in mabitek's or squad's rom and replaced it with this rom.

I think like this before. "Why do they shout all this bull if there are known solutions or just live with it" But I asked my self. "Why did I flashed to Custom ROMs" Answer was "Convenience". We jumped from ROM to ROM searching for something that can give the convenience that we are looking for, right? Sure I can fix something minor like this kind of Bugs, I can play without OC but what if you have the convenience to have both of those things that your looking for? I got nothing against the Official ROM, its good and is better but if I can have all I need on my past ROM it would be better.

Thanks Chupi. Maybe, you can suggests or comments about the latest Kang's Version.
Right now, the version is in Kang 66. I did not test yet but maybe in the coming days.
So, just tell me what should be done on this thread. What lacks? What to improves?

havent tested kang66 yet...only use CM9 so i can familiarize my self with the options but now went back again to CM7 but still thinking of going back to CM9 or stock v20m if i can download it
Also havent tested the other kernel you posted for ICS...maybe will try that combo with owains kang...i always use wkparks ICS kernel...
my issue with CM9 is that i am having problem restoring data for my games...i do a lot of gaming on my phone and only tested CM9 cause im bored with my games
also confirm i am unable to see SD card when phone connected to PC, only see internal memory...
you can include link of stock SU660 ROM also...and i know someone who was able to use MIUI for SU660 so maybe if you know any link for that you can add it also
good thing you have the patience to organize things for SU660...this will help a lot of SU660 users

It's a kernel that makes p990's rom work on su660. In fact it makes the buttons of su660 work with p990's rom.

Hi all I'm new here.
Just want to ask some questions.
Firstly, I've tried some of the Temasek's CM7, but all seemed to have problems of Internal storage and when I'm playing Fruit Ninja.
I tried to flash Su660_32MS_default but 'installation aborted'. Same thing with InternalSDaddon
Can anyone help me with these?
p/s: Sorry for my bad English.

Hi JuFeng95.
Can you upload the kernel that you are using here so that we could use it too? thanks
MIUI/CM7 kernel for SU660
I like to share this with you. This is Kernel 2.6.32.57 for SU660. I got it from vietnamese forum site. You can flash it with any MIUI or CM7 rom (I recommend temasek's CM7 roms). This is the latest kernel I had found so far for SU660. If anyone had a better kernel or higher version than this kernel, please share.
It would better if we could have kernels for su660 based on temasek's kernel, especially the overclock ones. I am not satisfied with open2x kernel. If only someone could compile temasek's kernel source and patch it with open2x su660 patch.

What ROM are you using right now? Ginger Bread 2.3.4 or Kang's Version? In order to install that, you must root your phone by CWM for SU660.
Please follow these steps for rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
If you are using Kang's Version, then, you must install this Kernel for P990 to work in SU660: http://openstar2x.googlecode.com/files/boot-cm9-for-su660-3.0.8-120322.zip
For complete Guide, please follow Post #1.
Thank you.

Do you mind sharing your more info about this kernel? How long have you been using it? What new features does it offer? What, if any, are known issues?
I got time today a little while to observe OC possibility, and attempted. I was in hurry and these days I dont much have time these days so I've not tested what I've writtten, but theoretically it should work without issues:
OC Engine For LG Optimus 2x For 2.6.39.x Kernel
*It's written for 1.2Ghz but it's easy to ramp up to 1.4/1.5 by observing codes.
Devs feel free to use ,
and rippers dont rip codes to represent it as yours.
Download
*See attached patch file
Wow thank you so much.....will have a look at it right away......

Anyways but I am happy, about your references and yours and harsh's work . Actually your 2 refrences posted last are useful that's neccessory for oc, I made a long route instead as I din't get much time to observe other files.
Thank you anyways

commit in my github is for P990 itself.
But as Topo said, OC is flaky currently. Anything more than 1.2 GHz make phone hang. Need to find where did NVIDIA implemented code for making CPU stuck as half frequency if its OCed.

great can u share it so that people can test! i have all msot shure that audio bug is boatloader related so if some on can compile a cm10 from RC and apply the new bootloader for testing will be great!
Anda I'm saying that because 28e/g cm10 old bootloader call problems v228/e/g new bootloader at 10 not a sigle call problem!

bootloadr is not related with audio bug... and that will never be.
official leaked ics roms doesn't have audio bugs just because they are official p990 roms with the official p990 kernel from lg, i remind you that cm10 is using su660 kernel source, a not completely but strongly enough different phone.

If you read a bit more, you'll find out that the original P990 ICS leak with untouched kernel is also suffering from the same bug. Nothing to do with CM10 or SU660...

I think that the new bootloader and related thing have better compatibility with ics then the old gb bootloader, for sure..
I'm using the leaked ics from the beginning and i don't have a single call bug

I know audio bug is really an annoying bug.
I don't know whether audio bug is related to boot loader or not.
And about boot loader, I won't say its impossible w/o sources but we don't have boot loader sources, neither sources of old nor new:/

don't care about OC on JB, need ramhack...CM10 have tiny free ram
Hi peeps!
So... moving away and not spam the other dev and general threads, I just wanted to open a new one where we can discuss about the differences between CM10 on old bootloader (cause the other roms are soooo 2011 ) and the new STOCK ICS great tuned roms on NEW BOOTLOADER
I was using DM v30b ICS for a long time and I was pretty satisfied! But after I saw the call bug fix on the official CM10, I didn't even think about it and replaced it
Not that the DMs version isnt fine, but I was remembering that the CM10 version on old bootloader was pretty awesome!
Im using the CM10 official and the only thing I would say against it is the battery life Everything else is awesome!
P.S. This thread is not for DEVs, cause I dont want to offend anyone with posts like "This ROM is much better than this".
Every dev here is FUK*n AWESOME and the jobs they do are amazing... Be honest... before our devs started to tune the phones, we would all be on some freakin apple ****s! (sorry for my language!).
Keep up that good job and ignore our post and threads, its just sharing opinions between consumers
PUT yOUR OPINIONS IN HERE RIGHT NOW !
That's right, Official CM10 is Awesome since LG release their source code. But I will be honest, I tried the first Stock ICS v30a and I was not happy with it because of the speed...even if we have 2 cores. Then I return to cm10...but since we have official source code, the devs start making custom kernel which are really AWESOME, seriously. So, I'm now on cm10 (old bt) with Pidocchio kernel (old bt) for about 5-6 weeks...and it rocks. :good:

CM10 for new bootloader by pengus77
Flashed it yeastarday and the battery life is amazing.
I think cm 10 is pretty awesome, the only thing holding it back for me using it is the battery drain
And LG's official ICS was ***t if u need something thats stable ( i know it doesn't really belong here ) i think u need to back to GB like temasek's builds, but that's my meaning
pengus77 is doing a very nice job. and like marsgod took his fix to gerrit to be reviewed by cm team and they included into official repository, i think pengus77 job should too. in that way, no need to continue with the new bootloader cause is a waste of space and a mess for everybody to move there with nvflash. id we can continue using our gb bootloader and partition layout, that one we used during about 1 year, why not continue if it is working alright? my vote for cm10 official with those all changes commited into cm repository.
I'm using original locked and unrooted 30B in Italy even it is made for ESA region.
I think that this rom is near to be a definitive stable rom: very smooth and fast, no problems except for a battery drain still high (20 hours autonomy with 40% wifi); the camera could be better, too.
I'm very happy of it and I'm waiting for the same LG release for EU.
I never used overclocking or custom kernels even if I tested most of the custom roms available here on XDA. I must say that I never found a real advantage nor stability testing these roms, maybe now the time for them is near to be over.

I am still on Temasek's CM7 as I needed long battery and rock solid/stable operation... Waiting for our CM10 team to fix the battery drain (old boot loader) and I'll take the dive
I have a question about the call bug: when does it usually show up?
I have never experienced it, but at the same time none of my calls are ever longer than 5 minutes.
I'm still on a really early version of CM10, and I've never run into the call bug.
Only problem really is the WiFi drain. Has that been fixed? I haven't been keeping up with the latest nightlies.

The call bug was said to be caused by a race condition - meaning it creeps up unexpectedly depending on the activity done with the phone in that timeframe.
As for wifi drain, flash the kernel tonyp compiled (containing pengus77's fix), onto any CM10 nightly that came out after the V30a sources dropped (basically December onwards).
You really should get a nightly from December onwards - a lot of things, not just the call bug, were fixed or improved along the way. I'm on 01/03 and having an improved experience over the SU660-based sources.
CM10 by arcee is very stable for me with self-compiled kernel of 24mb ramhack and patches from wkpark(including the lg twin boot logo fix). Very smooth and no BSODs and call bug. Just waiting for cm10.1 to be released by arcee.

Yes and yes (since a new nightly will overwrite whatever kernel you have).

And just one last question:
So the callbug is fixed on the newest nightlies, but the WiFi fix has not been submitted/merged yet? So if I want the WiFi fix I still have to flash the kernel tonyp compiled, which I'm assuming is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36032539&postcount=661 ?
