Hi There,
lets try find the most suitable rom galaxys, after all we have a decent device, nothing more then
this, and all the developers somehow manage, to upgrade it endlessly but still the device does not
respond that quick
so does someone has an idea, how to find the most suitable rom for galaxy s, for daily use
lots of internet,
messaging
social apps
GPS
stable
and quick responses
it can be any version 2.3.7>4.0>4.1>4.2 with any kernel, with/without overclocking
for now i use SlimBean 4.2.1 with semaphore. live OC 105% and the device is stable but a little bit lagy...
notice that i am fully aware that there is no "best rom" but lets try to find the most suitable one for daily use...
Thanks

i specifically stated, it is not a question for the best rom,
its a question about how can we find the software that
works perfectly with the hardware we have in our "decent" device
for example the 4.2.1 was developed for a quad core 1.5GHZ, 2GB ram etc...
while we have a single core 1Ghz 512Mb ram...
of course the developers are doing magnificent adaptation and somehow manage the device to work good
but lets face its a little too much for this gardware...
i am looking for good advises how to find a suitable rom that will work smooth...

Useless thread and wrong section. It seems you don't get it what CM is all about, the work maintainers do,...

Answer is stock cyanogenmod with semaphore or devil kernel or hellybean. But questions is still dumb.

Thats more because of the awesome dev support than raw power , although yeah , the tegra 2 chipset sucks big time , my Galaxy Tab 10.1 is so slow (on stock ROM , and it is even slower on CM10.1).
Also point to note that our devices performs much better(not in Raw benchmarks, but in real life performance) than the Novathor running Xperia U/P/Sola etc , which lag like anything with ICS+.
And with the latest 4.2.2 and new kernels , RAM performance has increased over 40% and CPU Floating Point went about +30%.

Just check this product from HTC:

Processor: 600
Resolution: 320 x 480 pixels
So Our SGA is way better than this phone by HTC. The most interesting feature for this phone is "OS Android OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)"
On Xda, some days before I read a thread where expert developer confidently said that "Ice Cream Sandwich requires more processing frequency than that of SGA which is 800 and even it can not run on overclocking. So guys just forget about ICS on SGA."
So now what you guys wanna say?? If this HTC handset can RUN official ICS on 600 then why not our SGA??
Your clarification will help all of us!!

Adwait
This has been said and discussed a lot of times here TBH.
regardless of whatever someone says our ACE is capable of running ICS but samsung SIMPLY REFUSE to support their older devices and so the fact of the matter is we will NOT GET OFFICIAL ICS. CM9 and AOKP is our best bet.
but can't we use the ICS of this HTC handset to port for our SGA?? CM9 is really a good option but it's modification! I mean to say stock 4.0 for SGA
That device uses cortex A8(armv7) processor,+512 mb ram.And ace has 278 user available ram+armv6 processor.Stock ICS needs 384 mb user available ram to correctly use/render API level 14 of 4.0.CM9 by galaxyics uses binary patches and kernel hacks if you see their sources. Therefore the performance boost ICS gives,is not visible because API level 14 neccessities are not met. Moreover i consider CM9 for ace just eyecandy(thats personal opinion). And I am pretty satisfied by gingerbread.Android 4 for ace would have made sense if it had 500+mb ram and 1ghz+ armv7 processor. What use is an OS if it reduces performance of your device

I need some advice:
I used Ramhack for a quiet long time now. The negative point of loosing performance for 3D-Applications (Games, Benchmarks..) is comprehensible and in my honest opinion totally acceptable. Next to the Optimus Speed I have a Dell Streak 7, where gaming overall is less complicated and I gain much more performance with this tablet (how ever..). So, you can see, is the p-990 aimed for my everyday use. Every day use means smooth, quick response, less random reboots for me. I need every freakin second my tools need to boot up, close applications, etc...
I want to do quick calls without a tip on the Task-Killer-widged before.
Currently I'm on Nova HD ICS. I really enjoy it, so I would prefer to stay on this rom.
So my big question:
Is there a way to get Ramhack on the Domination rom? Or maybe do you guys have other options for me?
I love this rom, so I really want to stay. But I need a hell of performance. Gaming is well placed on my tablet, so we dont need to take any consideration about it. Even if I need to type 3 freakin pages of code into the terminal. It's ok. I need speed and smooth response...
Thanks in advance!
You say that you love the ICS rom you're using, but assumes that it doesn't have the performance you need, right?
So, basically, your question is : " is there a way to make CM9 as faster as CM7?" The answer: no.
ICS has, by nature, a heavy hardware resources demand. I've tested a couple of CM9 roms out there and they're all fast at first sight, but the multitasking feature isnt performing right. Because our device has only 512mb of ram. So, that means you won't be able to alternate between 3~4 apps instantly, just because the ICS itself already uses a big part of your ram. You can try the V6 Supercharger for ICS script, but I do not believe it will magically turn your cm9 into a cm7.
Unless nvidia/lg release the hwa drivers for ICS, if you want a rock solid and ultra fast device you should use CM7. I recommend Temasek's unofficial builds, they're just awesome.
Cheers

You could just flash a new kernel. There are some CM9 kernels that offer the ramhack option. Cool.guy is right though. CM9 is slower than CM7 because of the missing hardware acceleration etc. Just use Temasek's latest CM7 build. Fastest ROM I've ever used!

Not a ton. The ace isn't the fastest phone (800mhz processor stock). If you want a faster phone, I suggest a new one.
Anyway, first is overclocking the processor. The highest stable I think I've seen is 921mhz. This however ends up killing your battery (works the other way around too). For this you need an overclockable kernal (I don't know how to do it or where to get it lol). Another thing you can do is remove useless apps (so thinks like email, Gmail, maps and things that aren't usually used). This will free up some RAM and make sure that you don't have many apps running in the background at the same time. Speaking of RAM, get an app to manage that as well. Don't know how effective it truly is, but its something to do. Get rid of a few things like live wallpapers and FM radio as well as that's a lot of ram and CPU usage right there. Just look for key words in the title such as "light" (for useless apps being removed) and "OC kernal" (for the overclock) and hopefully you'll get what you are looking for.
Oye... I dunno.... I'm no pro at this (I'm not even a dev), but I'm just throwing out suggestions.
Anyway, use search, Google it, and experiment. Hopefully you can get some good performance from this cool little mid range device, but remember, its that, a midrange device. Not gonna beat the S3 anytime soon

I own the Galaxy Ace, and there is no way you can make it faster.
I tried so much: Switching Custom ROMs, Uninstalling apps, Overclocking etc.
But they all don't work.
The Ace is cheap, you can't get something as fast as a Galaxy SIII or HTC One X for that price.
The thing is, it is faster or we think it is faster?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
Overclocking is very useful and as others have said, works in a ratio with battery. Once you have rooted your phone, find a custom ROM you like ( I recommend Apocalypse by Itsoulas - it is very, very fast and best for games) because they are brilliant at helping you do what you normally cannot on the stock rom.
Good luck and welcome to Xda!
Sent from my phone... AND WHAT
What Ace said is true, but my phone's battery life is already poor without overclocking.
First thing
Since when does the ace has legs ?
It cant run
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Its so easy
1. He wants the best performance right??yes.
So i would prefer the official stable cyanogenmod rom with some tweaks. And maybe not so usefull at all but also overclocking, like many of you said it before.
2. Come on guys we have an almost 2 years old ARMV6 device which was from the first release date since today a midrange or maybe lowend device. So please. Its natural that we cant compare it with quad core or dual core phones, in some cases even not with singlecore armv7 devices.
All in all its a sexy phone with iphone look and acceptable performance at all. AND its still cheap

Greetings guys!
I got my HTC One a few days ago and immediately wanted to remove the Sense layer. I rooted the device and flashed CyanogenMod. I am so far super satisfied with the vanilla Android experience.
I am wondering is there a current possibility for clocking the CPU of the device? I looked up Element X but it seems that, as of now it only works with 4.1.2?
Check out the Kernel which is for 4.2.2 by tbalden. The problem with this s that it isn't based on the HTC Kernel source cause this isn't released yet. So it might have some problems

Why would you overclock it ?
The One is already very responsive and powerful enough to run any apps and games, from my point of view overclock will just cause instability and drain the battery.
But if you want to do it, I saw an option called "seeder" or something like that during the installation of the Revolution HD 10.3 rom, it says that it allow performance tweak but I never tried it.
Seeder has nothing to do with overclocking, it just fills and enlarge the entropy, some people say it give them less lag and smoother gaming, a lot of it is in the eye of the beholder I think but it has no bad side effects as far as I know

I'm coming from 6 year streak of Apple devices and the shear freedom of tinkering with the clock speed makes me really excited
I also noticed the Galaxy S4 uses the same chip with a frequency of 1.9... I guess clocking the current 1.7 to its intended(?) 1.9 wouldn't hurt the battery that much... although anything beyond that might be pointless really.
Thank you everyone for your answers! So I guess there's no 100% working solution as of now?

Hi guys,
So i watched a couple of videos about this device being able to run some graphic intensive games using a ROM called HellyBean or smth like that. So because im abit into gaming but not that much, which device is preferred to buy if Im into gaming. Usually, i use my phone for social networking apps and some gaming like Asphalt, Dead Space etc... Also, i rmb that the S Plus had the same hardware as my old Galaxy Wonder but its still laggy in games. SO is this phone suitable for meh? I have about 120USD/88EUR/150SGD to spend so recommend me other device D

S plus you can get. Not much difference between them. S plus MSM8255T 1400MHz Qualcomm processor. Galaxy S ARM Cortex A8 processor 1000MHz. S plus = HSDPA (14.4 Mbps). Galaxy S = HSDPA (7.2 Mbps).
Sorry bad English.
S might have a better developer support. I have it running well for 4 years now. And now on Kit Kat. Cheers
s has good dev support but s plus has a bit more RAM
I would go for the plus. Running KitKat on it now. Very good.
Hmm, I watched a YouTube video about this guy who was using his Galaxy S to play really intensed games like MC4 & Asphalt 8 at full graphics. I rmb he enabled Zram and used HellyBean. Does the Galaxy S Plus also handles the same perfomance? Or isit better even without zram and that ROM?

Many differences betwin i9000 and i9001. On stock rom they are not actual now. On custom rom i9000 is better, i think. i9000 supported tv-out on modern custom roms, i9001 does not supporting tv-out on custom roms. i9000 have one of the finest audiochip Wolfson, it give you very good sound quality, i9001 have not Wolfson chip. With hellybean rom on i9000 you get up to 439Mb RAM, i9001 about 400Mb max. 3D performance of PowerVRSGX540(i9000) is more then Adreno205 (i9001). i9000 support usb otg host (with ext power), i9001 have not supporting usb otg.
But i recommended you look to Samsung Galaxy SII, cause it have 1Gb RAM. 512Mb ram not actual in the last modern games.
