Please don't consider it as a "another ICS blah blah... thread"
Just check this product from HTC:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_c-4759.php
Processor: 600
Resolution: 320 x 480 pixels
So Our SGA is way better than this phone by HTC. The most interesting feature for this phone is "OS Android OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)"
On Xda, some days before I read a thread where expert developer confidently said that "Ice Cream Sandwich requires more processing frequency than that of SGA which is 800 and even it can not run on overclocking. So guys just forget about ICS on SGA."
So now what you guys wanna say?? If this HTC handset can RUN official ICS on 600 then why not our SGA??
Your clarification will help all of us!!
Regards,
Adwait
This has been said and discussed a lot of times here TBH.
regardless of whatever someone says our ACE is capable of running ICS but samsung SIMPLY REFUSE to support their older devices and so the fact of the matter is we will NOT GET OFFICIAL ICS. CM9 and AOKP is our best bet.
but can't we use the ICS of this HTC handset to port for our SGA?? CM9 is really a good option but it's modification! I mean to say stock 4.0 for SGA
That device uses cortex A8(armv7) processor,+512 mb ram.And ace has 278 user available ram+armv6 processor.Stock ICS needs 384 mb user available ram to correctly use/render API level 14 of 4.0.CM9 by galaxyics uses binary patches and kernel hacks if you see their sources. Therefore the performance boost ICS gives,is not visible because API level 14 neccessities are not met. Moreover i consider CM9 for ace just eyecandy(thats personal opinion). And I am pretty satisfied by gingerbread.Android 4 for ace would have made sense if it had 500+mb ram and 1ghz+ armv7 processor. What use is an OS if it reduces performance of your device

Meant to say does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can improve graphics performance so it runs smoothly?

I had heard that Nvidia hasn't released some drivers/source code for ICS and hence ICS is not possible on tegra devices !!
If that is so, then how some ICS roms like owains and hei's have came up - ?
Also i read a post nearly 4 weeks ago in dev section that Nvidia has released the source code...!!
Will someone help to clear my confusion whether all drivers have been released or not

NEON is hardware base floating point emulation which is released in cortex-a8 and in some cortex-a9. for example processor used in Samsung Galaxy S. We have software based vfpv3 vectorization in o2x. HW accelated NEON could work much better in many aspects like video decoding etc.

It is a shame that neon isn't supported by the Tegra 2
Tegra 2 series
The second generation Tegra SoC has a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU (lacking ARMs advanced SIMD extension, marketed as NEON), an ultra low power (ULP) GeForce GPU with 4 pixel shaders + 4 vertex shaders,[14] a single-channel memory controller with either LPDDR2 at 600 MHz or DDR2 at 667 MHz, a 32KB/32KB L1 cache per core and a shared 1MB L2 cache.[15] There is also a version of the SoC supporting 3D displays; this SoC uses a higher clocked CPU and GPU.

It's still Jelly Bean, with some new features included (wow Multi-User).
Also, we're running JB from ICS libs which is from GB/Froyo libs in fact
Anyway, whom of us expected that we could run Jelly Bean in our very low-end devices
maybe we can expect more than that, for example Key Lime Pie, but I think it would be too lag ....

I was so happy to see that finally they released on Android....
but it doesn't run. I can start the app, I see the loading screen, then the EPIC movie. But when it should go to the '3d' rendering part (the beginning of the citadel), I get a black screen. I can hear the birds singing, but I don't see anything.
I tried uninstalling chainfire 3d, i tried uninstalling epic citadel 3 times. Nothing worked.
I rebooted, and tried all the 'normal' things. I am on stock 4.0.3 with root permission. Not knowing why it doesn't start bothers me much more than not starting it up.
Wrong forum - should be in Q&A.
Until now it's only a tech demo. Search all Forums, there are already a few threads related to the demo - maybe you'll find something helpful.
I just download it and will try the demo on my device. Will post here about the results.
Almost the same problem:
Anyone tried Epic Citadel (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...pdGFkZWwiXQ..)?
I'm having a problem with stock 4.0.4. The benchmark starts and eventually - either right in the beginning or somewhere during the test the app kicks me on the HOME screen.
Has anyone tried the test? I assume that the problem is in the RAM as the program force close the launcher is completely reloaded.
Works on AOSPA, JB 4.2.1.
Works on stock GB LC1. Install, start, tap, run.
Phantastic Graphics, wow, just running the benchmark mode.
Results: 28.3 FPS (second run 28.8)
Resolution: 1280x800
Performance Level: High Quality
Update: and it's getting hot (at least very warm).
working for me on cm10.1 but very low fps the maximum fps reached is 26..
Ps: these bechmarks are on a underclocked voltage and cpu.. when i clocked the cpu to 1400 mhz at default voltage i got average fps of 34.1 at high quality

Two reasons:
- All apps I need are running without problem, GB is stable, only miss the new launchers a bit.
- I switch to the XXLSA leak for OTA update tests and restoring my GB backup with closed eyes now.
And with this demo here: It's fast, faster than every CM, AOSP, AOKP Rom, comparable to ICS
Only waiting for the next JB release. I will switch then if no new disappointment happens.
Hi There,
lets try find the most suitable rom galaxys, after all we have a decent device, nothing more then
this, and all the developers somehow manage, to upgrade it endlessly but still the device does not
respond that quick
so does someone has an idea, how to find the most suitable rom for galaxy s, for daily use
lots of internet,
messaging
social apps
GPS
stable
and quick responses
it can be any version 2.3.7>4.0>4.1>4.2 with any kernel, with/without overclocking
for now i use SlimBean 4.2.1 with semaphore. live OC 105% and the device is stable but a little bit lagy...
notice that i am fully aware that there is no "best rom" but lets try to find the most suitable one for daily use...

i specifically stated, it is not a question for the best rom,
its a question about how can we find the software that
works perfectly with the hardware we have in our "decent" device
for example the 4.2.1 was developed for a quad core 1.5GHZ, 2GB ram etc...
while we have a single core 1Ghz 512Mb ram...
of course the developers are doing magnificent adaptation and somehow manage the device to work good
but lets face its a little too much for this gardware...
i am looking for good advises how to find a suitable rom that will work smooth...

Thats more because of the awesome dev support than raw power , although yeah , the tegra 2 chipset sucks big time , my Galaxy Tab 10.1 is so slow (on stock ROM , and it is even slower on CM10.1).
Also point to note that our devices performs much better(not in Raw benchmarks, but in real life performance) than the Novathor running Xperia U/P/Sola etc , which lag like anything with ICS+.
And with the latest 4.2.2 and new kernels , RAM performance has increased over 40% and CPU Floating Point went about +30%.
Thread Closed, best ROM threads aren't allowed. Everyone has their own preference. I suggest you install a few, look at features and see what is best for you.
