Sony XP T JB vs SXT ICs - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

So I had installed jelly bean(official) but I've rooted it myself..and after that I've used Emma flash tools to go on and official ICS Software by Sony..
And as far as I can see...on ICS .195 all apps are running smoother than on .489. And in games the same games are smoother but the BENCHmarks says that jelly bean is better...same thing was on HTC ONE X that in all benchmarks was better but all games and apps where smoother on ICS.
The only + of the new Jelly Bean software is that it looks good and the camera is maybe better.(But I dont think)
---
Our Jelly Bean doesn't have Project Butter maybe just only sometimes...ICS is butterly that JB on Xperia T
And believe my this are my words and I'm a person that change a smartphone once a month-two.
I'm just kinda sad that Sony make mistakes .

It's the initial Jellybean, wait for the next version and there's no doubt it will be a more polished smoother JB
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium

Yeah I got the feeling this wasn't completed and just rushed out the door I think that the Xperia launcher in some way some how cuts off the project butter it is jelly bean under the hood but it feels the same as xperia ics just uglier.
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium

Well that's a matter of opinion, the thing that cuts the true performance down is the overheating problem (which exists in every new smartphone nowadays) shuts off 1 core in order to cool down and that's the only thing that I hate about this phone
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium

You should by a quad core..when i was playing need for speed most wwnted with htc one x( full graphics..this means more tham on gs3) ..i was at 65 degress my hands were burning me..is good that i saw that my phone said to me that its overheating( charging+ playing)
And if u only play it will go for 50-55 degress ..
So sony xperia t is ok..at heating level

O2X + ICS + lag ?

So... I've now given my HTC EVO 3D to my wife as a gift (not wrapped lol.. I just said she could have it so she has a nice phone)... and I've gone back to her old phone which is a Sony Vivaz. Now the only reason I got shot of the O2X in the first place was due to it lagging after even half a day, and the EVO 3D had 1GB of RAM and it doesn't lag at all. so.... basically.. now there is a stock LG ICS version (I assume there is looking at other threads?) has this resolved the lag? When I say lag, I mean it not even being able to play video's smoothly, and games nose diving in performance etc.
If this is the case... I'll probably be on the look-out for another O2X as I enjoyed having a nice bright screen and an HDMI port

Prior to ICS the custom rom's/kernel's lagged badly as well.. like they were out of memory.... are you 100% they don't lag? i.e. you don't have to reset your phone daily just to watch a movie or play a 3D game?
well take into account that the device only has 348mb ram? So It's a bit memory hungry but ICS performance overall is quite nice

This is not true. Do you have direct experience? What rom do you use?
I'm using 30B stock LG in Italy and I must say that I finally can touch high smoothness and fast performance.
Never found this with custom roms.

The stock fettled rom always worked best for me. I tried stock kernel and stefans kernel and some others but it didn't make any difference to the lag that happened after a random amount of time (within a day). The phone itself would be fine, just video and game performance sucked after a while. To be clear.. on a fresh restart/boot of the phone the performance was EXCELLENT... just it degraded after a relatively short time, and was the deciding factor for selling it. If this has been resolved with ICS I would REALLLLLY like to know.

I did take that into account. I found the best experience was with the fettled stock italian rom last year before ICS was released, but the phone always suffered with slow down, even within an hour of turning it on if I did something intensive like play a game or watch a video. It took half a day to a day to slow down if not doing anything intensive. It was REALLLLLY aggravating.
I do realise it has limited memory, but given it wasn't running ICS it really should have performed better for longer as such. If Tegra 2 needed more memory to continue running that that's what it should have had. It's an amazing phone (for the money) otherwise I thought.
If people who use there phone for video playback and say... playing a tegra 2 game like dungeon defenders could come in and comment on if performance degrades to getting REALLY bad frame rates after a while, I would really appreciate it. If you can go for a month or something playing games and watching video's without an issue, I REALLY like to hear about it.
@Scougar,
I'm very sorry for you.
I bought 2x on oct 2011, not for playing games as first goal, I have been happy with 20S (removing some unused system apps) for many months and now I am with 30B.
Good luck.

dont know how anyone can say that cm10 is smooth for example (havent tried stock ics yet tho), because its just so awfully slow for me, lags more than cm7, im sure its because of higher ram consumption. even with swap partition enabled. i mean it IS very smooth, when it works that is, but it quite often has these awful slowdowns for me when the phone just puts me on ignore mode lol
i mean its pathetic, cant even have 2 tabs open in chrome without having to reload the pages after switching tabs. movies and games work great tho, never had any issues, on any android version. best thing about this phone really.
Look i understand what you are saying but the weird thing is with the build from jan 2013+ the performance is just amazing..
And I never experienced a bsod nor a freeze nor a slowdown and not even a single fc i really don't knoa but some people have strange p990's or i just got myself a special one eheh.

lol, sorry for me? You shouldn't be, because I 'upgraded' to the EVO 3D, on an amazing sim-free deal for it, and it worked perfectly for me, without issue and had ICS for months before LG. I'm just considering coming back to the O2X as I really loved it apart from the lag. I would prefer to use a stock modded rom so that I get full functionality rather than fast performance and missing options.
I will keep my eyes open for one.. but they are pretty expensive for such an old phone (which is weird).
I am running CM10 on the new boot loader with custom kernel and its darn near perfect for me. Smooth as butter and battery life is as good as pure CM7 ROM.

No lags with stock LG ICS 30B, very smooth full functons and stable.
Maybe in some months we'll have a stable CM10.1; CM7 took at least six months to be a stable version (missing of some functions).

It's disagree entirely, I think the reverse. Kernels with latest Mali drivers way outperform normal stock drivers. Ics improved on gb, and remember that jb is still in beta and Google have already admitted to issues with display performance which they're working on, so I have no doubt jb will be even better.

Maybe the benchmark score decreases but the real performance increased for me with the upgrades. There may be some versions slower then there precursors but in general performance is growing.

Hahaha (not laughing at you just at our differing experiences) - I disagree entirely with this and think OP has a point. In fact I already made a post about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203374
Some games I don't notice much if any difference in 3D performance if any - off the top of my head examples are Dead Trigger and Riptide GP.
However for some others, for me at least, the performance difference between GB and JB firmware is huge. I'm talking about talking stuttering, uneven frame rates on JB Roms and silky smooth, consistent framerates on GB Roms. Examples are Let's Golf 3 (as already bought up), Real Racing 3 and GTA: Vice City. In fact (and I have no idea why) GTA:VC on GB plays silky smooth and at a higher resolution than JB, not sure why this is.
Concerning GTA:VC I, like many others, had issues that made it unplayable sometimes on GB based ROMS so I recently switched to Samsung Stock JB where it now plays without those issues but the performance of the game is much lower.
Its definitely true that performance other than 3D gaming is streets ahead in JB Roms when you compare it to GB of course.
One thing I haven't done is much gaming using ICS though which may explain our differing experiences.
another explanation is that the games dev havent optimized it for jb or newer drivers yet.
if thats the case its further proof of silly android hardware, os and app integration versus independant hardware layer, os on top and then aps, making apps completely hardware independant lol and overcoming the legacy crap.
I'm not sure what is this mali gpu thing but i believe it has something to do with graphic as what y'all has discussed above. I can see that my graphic performance has decreased on this JB rom(I'm using supernexus2 4.2.2) compared to ICS. When on ICS, I can play Backstab HD without any issue, but on JB rom(both 4.1.2 and 4.2.2) the graphic are too laggy and the phone itself would heated up.

on jelly bean they don't
I haven't tried JB on this device but I have only heard good things about it, however once you root and tweak it this is a really good phone (and inexpensive), you don't even need a custom ROM, just a better launcher than the stock one and Super Charger V6 do the job. It has a good battery life and charges fast. So far I like it, even though I originally planned to get a Motorola Razr but couldn't get one in the end.

I am a noob in smartphones and i am really scared to root my phone. I have flashed stock v20a and that was really scary for me
Is root that good ?
I am very satisfied with jelly bean. Applications load faster, stock home runs without lag. Games run smoother than before, camera is faster and alot more. But what annoys me alot is usage of ram. On ICS i ran smart launcher, whatsapp and viber and it used around 250 mb. Now it uses at least 300 if not more.
Worth getting at any cost. Good smartphone, change launcher and it is good as is, but if you want to get more of it, tweak it, and then it will BEAST.
At this price it is probably the best Android smartphone with Jelly Bean. Armored glass Gorilla Glass 4.3-inch screen, 512 MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM, 1GHz CPU, the camera 5mpx, very good performance materials, well fitted, slim form, network HSPA+, battery 1700mAh, NFC.

that's because they had all the time they have to develop a better ROM before the official launch. But once after launch whiners and babies will cry for updates so they had to rush a bit more, which sacrificed optimisation time.
Good ROM takes time. If CyanogenMod didn't have nightlies or RC - just stable releases, god it could be ages before anything from them sees light.

Mm, probably not, but why is it shocking to you all that 4.0.3 is faster? :s The lower the android version, the less resources it needs because it has less features, less processes, looks worse, lower demand for high quality rendering etc etc.
Think about it, would running 4.3 be as fast as running 2.3.x on it?
In my eyes, the lower the android version, the "Faster" it will appear.. Also, post some benchmarks of v10, and we can compare them to a benchmark of 4.3?
Edit1:"Optimizations" You mean they add placebo to the stock rom? fact is, CM9 will be faster then V10, and CM10 will be faster then V20. Say they release V30 as 4.2.2, you can bet your ass CM10.1 would be faster, v40 as 4.3, CM10.2 would be faster. v50 as 4.4 say, CM11? Would probably be faster than it.

No higher Android better Performence. Because it has more features, and can handle the Hardware better. For Example I mean Android 1 Beta dont support Dual Core Processor. Because the Rom doesnt detect it. And Android 4.3 can handle Bluetooth 4.0 and can handle the Ram and Processes better. Like compare windows 2000 with Windows 7 64 Bit.
If the Hardware Requirements is ok, we can have the full Power of it with good Android Version.

Sorry but we need to differentiate between pure android and OEM modified android. There is no possible way pure ICS is smoother/faster than later pure android versions. Resource management has only improved in newer versions of android. Hence low end devices always experience a performance improvement from newer aosp based Roms, from their latest stock firmware. Its common that OEMS introduce poor code, bugs etc that may take from the user experence in newer versions of their firmware, this is possibly the case of our device. Although there is a very minimal difference between stock 4.1 android and custom ROM/ kernels in terms of battery vs performance(other devices I own, the difference is night and day.). Which indicates lg done a great job of android 4.1 on our device.

That's total rubbish. I've seen nexus 7 users get worse and worse lag as they upgrade. That's pure android straight from Google! Nexus 4 users too. 4.3 Does have optimizations, and good ones at that. Its bloody fast no ****. But I've never seen a direct correlation between higher android version and smoother performance. Never. And I've had too many phones due to breakages. I knew a guy who swore by froyo when cm10 was available, because it was bloat free and smooth. Just because new bloat isn't directly visible doesn't mean it isn't there.

Do you seriously think google push crazy amounts of money into making a worse os than they had? I agree, and said in my previous post that updates occationally brake things, Its understandable for the android ecosystem(im not saying its accepable, i pisses me of and ive experenced it myself.)
Each update is a net good for android, btw google isnt bloating android, oems are responsiable for that, and oftern ruin what would have been a good update for a device. ICS on this device was better for gaming, but it distroyed battery , JB fixed that found a better balance.
I know people who still cling to windows xp, some day they will have to reliese, underling windows 8 is a much improved os.(no matter how much they or I disagree with the interface)

xperia sp , good choice or not?

hi xda buddies!
im planning to leave my xperis x8 to a new device ,with a low-priced device like SP
ill be very happy if help me through out these question:
1-how much is sp's real antutu score? cause some videos on youtube shows a score around 15540 but another shows 23000?
2-Do you like the TFT screen on sp?(quality ,viewing angel, etc) rate from 1 to 10 (10 is a calibrated device like iphones or ipad)
3-Any problems experianced with SP?
4-If you turn back in time will you pick SP again?:sly:
5-Does this device runs GTA SA smooth?(more important that other question!)
Stupid Question ,sorry!
I personally like to pick new Asus fonepad7 which is way cheaper for me to get,and its stunning ips panel

1. alright so my antutu score is 23400
2. the screen is quite pleasant even in the sun so id rate it at a 7-8 viewing angles dont matter much since im always in front of the phone not lying down beside it
3. I havent experienced any problems with the xperia sp
4. i would re pick the sp because at the time there was nothing better up till recently i havent seen anything to match it
5. the sp is one of the best phones for gaming because it has the same gpu as most 2013 flagships minus the 1080p display hence it has a very high frame rate, it has one of the highest frame rates for any phone something around 49 fps

Different types with lte or not, but the firmware, kernel and tweaks are special for the score.

thanks mate , thank you very very much , sp is a monster for mid-range smartphones .stylish ,powerfull , high quality build ,latest connectivity chips like nfc bt4 , blah blah
thumbs up for this wonderful product:thumbup::thumbup:

In AnTuTu X my score is 34217
the SP is a monster for a midranger, it even beats some flagships of the same time, Nexus 4, S3, Xperia Z, all thanks to that gpu and fast 1.7 ghz processor, in vellamo it beat out the note 3 and z ultra
yea it sounds great , if the screen was better ,i wont doubt to choose sp , but 4.6 is small for me (plus in screen navigation-bar which reduces acuall size), my main perpose is not performance , i think output is more important than performance cause you get a device to make use of it & we should attention to this harmony , so i prefer to get sth with better screen & ips panel(ips is very important)
but "MAYBE" i choose this device if the tft screen was good enough in first look

With 4.1.2 is a great choice, very competitive price on internet than other top product! But with 4.3 is a bad buy

1gb but 4.3 screwed it up i only have like 250 mb avail, with 4.1.2 i had 600+
Buy ZR instead. It's only a little more expensive.
SP is a good phone. But 4.3 seems buggy.
IMHO...
For SP, I think it's a good choice (even for movies and games) for the budget conscious
I stayed away from 4.3 and after trying customised rom, is back with 254, rooted.
Whatever niceties I need - a launcher should help, without the problems associated with 4.3, and without much drain on the system

Benchmarks do not say anything about the real feel and performance of a device. To me it is important that a device feels quick and stable and this in combination with the low price did it for me. However some more details and other stories can be read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2561829
