[Q] HTC ONE with different band - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With the HTC One supporting so many different band (Euro/Asia/4xUSA/...), will all ONE be the same phone or different phones with same name?
Will it be same phone tuned to different band, like HTC DHD & Inspire 4G?
Or different phones, like HTC One X International & US version?
Thanks in advance.

it's the same phone tuned to different band

Doubt that much, it probably just has a radio that only allows certain bands.
At least that's my hopeful thinking

HTC is just a small company compared to sony or samsung I doubt they have enough factories to supply different hardware per region just for the sake of this whole frequency uniqueness style.

That's what I'm saying.
The software radio is probably set to the carrier, so they are all the same hardware but software limits which frequencies it can use
I've seen HTC do this before, once we get s-off we could flash a international radio and have a true world phone

Ohh I understand now Yeah and hopefully this is true. But alot of users tend to disagree with this since I already asked this on the past.

Like I said its hopeful thinking, but with a mass rollout like this I would think they would take this route instead of making different variants
They only have to update "ONE" phone although a lot of carriers add bloat so that will slow down the update process.
We will see...

Sprint / T-Mobile / International? WHAT?!?

Hey guys. Just noticed that it's starting to get split up between carriers. Is there going to actually be a difference between carrier and internation? Will they have to use separate ROMs and rooting methods?
Also, Where is T-Mobile's forum? Or is it similar to the sprint model?
Rooting methods might be the same, ROMS will not be compatible across models. There may be multi-carrier roms but you absolutely need to make sure you flash things specifically for your model or you will end up with an expensive paperweight.

If anything the T-Mobile one would be more similar to AT&T sprint is CDMA not gsm
This is why there are different forums for the device on each carrier. It's mean to keep people from getting too flash happy haha. If you flash anything from the "Sprint HTC One" forums, you should be fine.

Only problem I have with splitting them is we may run into the problem the Nexus S forum suffers from, where a lot of ROMs end up only getting posted in the main GSM dev forum, even though they have an NS4G version. Important info, guides, whatever were pretty invisible to the layman. I'm sort of concerned here because it isn't just a split of the dev forum, it's completely different headings for each carrier. It'll be interesting to see how different the models really end up being.

True, but while this is inconvenient for us on Sprint it is far worse when someone inevitably tries to flash a rom without CDMA support and they end up bricking their device. I'd rather avoid that scenario and just force us to link to other threads to get additional information. We have to face facts and that is it normally isn't a smooth process for developers to take a GSM rom and port it to CDMA (I saw this plenty as I currently have a E4GT and that was almost a completely different beast than the other Galaxy S2's).
International LTE seems possible if Freq is right
International LTE seems possible if the Bands are right.
According to engadget. http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/08/htc-one-for-att-sprint-review/
For those of you just getting around to cross-shopping the HTC One against other devices, we'll give you a lightning tour of the handset. On board, you've got a standard micro-USB / MHL port along the bottom edge, as well as a metal volume rocker on the right side, and a micro-SIM tray on the left. Of note, the Sprint One is among the first of the carrier's LTE devices to offer a replaceable SIM.

[NOOB] 4G LTE Radio Anomaly.

First post, noob post, searched the forum found things that are similar to my question but not a definite answer.
I just got my hands on an HTC ONE 64GB Developer Edition from the US and the 4G LTE frequency on it is 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
And where I currently live the 4G LTE connectivity is 800/1800/2600 MHz.
I did some reading and found out that my device is considered as HTC ONE M7UL
And the UL falls within the 801s category and in turn that supports my 4G LTE category.
Added to that it has the same modem of MDM9125.
Taking that into consideration, is it possible to do whatever to make my phone's frequency compatible with my service provider. As for my understanding the frequencies in the device have been blocked for the US market, can I do something to make it work?
I have never flashed, rooted or did anything to an Android phone because I am completely lost and this is my first Android device coming from an iPhone.
So, your help will be much appreciated into guiding me with the correct information to help me out.

I haven't seen any posts that have tried flashing radios to change the bands supported. I'm still sceptical that it could work.
Plus, I think you read the table wrong, and I know of at least one error in that table.

If only I don't have an HTC One I'm willing to get that. I too have those LTE frequencies but I'm willing to sacrifice LTE for an additional storage. But too late already have a 32gb EU version which has matching 4g frequencies for your network but meh! Only 32gb storage.

I just put an order for a Black HTC One 64GB with matching LTE frequencies. It covers 1800/2600MHz which is where I live; Bahrain is under the 1800 range.
I can never downgrade from a 64GB haha.. My ONE X+ was FULL.. 32GB would drive me crazy haha!!
Now, I think I'll hang around this form to do some flashing business, sounds like fun haha!!!
Anyway, our LTE network isn't that great because they just started up a few months back and the reception is rather poor but it spikes up to 60mbps!

I'm pretty sure it is possible because it's a UL device and shares all the same features that the US/Canada/Asia/Middle East/Australia/Europe have got... So, that shouldn't be an issue.. It's a tiny little thing inside the system that needs to be smacked with a nice flash.
Hopefully, someone comes up with this ASAP and makes life much more easier to buy a device from anywhere in the world and not get screwed like me!!:good:

There was a post that showed pictures of a couple of different variants of the One. They had a different support chip that worked with the generic radio chip. So there is a possibility that hardware may keep the variants from cross flashing. We just don't know. It is also possible that it is simply software flashing somewhere in the various partitions.
If we get a US T-Mobile RRU and it gets to be flashed over a different model, then we will know.

INTERNATIONAL variants are receiving their 4.2.2 updates. No one in the states has an official build or a leaked US build last I checked. The bulk of international carriers used GSM. These devices differ from the U.S. GSM devices but in most cases can easily be chopped up and hacked to be put on U.S. variants (see AT&T one x+ for proof that it does not always work....).
HTC is a company NOT based in the U.S. and we are NOT their primary source of income therefore we are not their top priority. Additionally U.S. Carriers have MUCH more control compared to international carriers and are usually the cause of a hold up on official updates. Complaining we don't have a leak means HTC and the carriers are doing their job stopping untested and un proven builds from entering the hands of users,
Being on a CDMA phone that is NOT on verizon as of yet it is impossible to have much hope of leaks or work for the devices as we are on the #4 carrier in the United States (or #3 depending how you want to look at it). In many phones cases we get the GSM version ported only as long as it is simple to do for the developers.

Do keep in mind though that Sprint, while #4 in size has traditionally only been a step or so behind GSM carriers, especially when compared to Verizon, in releasing their updates. Little Yellow tends to beat Big Red in that regard by comfortable margins.

Definitely. Sprint has been on top of updates. The only reason we see delays is because it's not a one-sided thing, the carrier AND manufacturer have to work together on it.

Not even close to being close to the same phone.
Also, everyone should nkow that GSM is an old outdated technology. CDMA is newer and better. The only downside is you would need the Qualcomm SoC (forget which one but the ELTE has it), like that you can do SVD. But GSM is just plain horrible, and old. Yes, Sprint has had issues for the passed three years (isolated ones, nothing major). But you need to remember that Sprint has always been the first for everything. They took a huge hit back with the whole Clearwire, WiMax, GPS + airplanes issue. They fixed the issue, and we have had to suffer a slight loss of 3G bandwidth due to it.
They are once more becoming the first with yet another feat, the Netwok Vision upgrade. All frequencies... One band. I mean, if you guys could understand the complexity (and sheer AWESOMENESS) of what is being done, you wouldn't give a crap that you are down one revision of one OS, 4.1.2 -> 4.2.2 ... Big whoop. The only thing getting that upgrade means is you can put new widgets in new places? And no source for kernel dropped? Which even when the source drops, bluetooth will be broken. That takes alot of time from the devs to cook in working bluetooth after theyve been giving a borked copy of the source. So now, put those last bits together... As the kernel is where the party is at. 4.2.2? BIG WHOOP. 4.2.2 with stock kernel... I would rather be on ICS with Anthrax.
Stop crying/worrying/wondering/caring/w-e about the update... Just download an app that does whatever you need from 4.2.2, and enjoy. And yes, there is an app to do whatever you may need... There's an app for that.
In the off-chance that somehow there is no app for it (there will be an app for it), learn to make an app, and make the app alert you of things you want done, but there are no apps for it yet. By the time you get that app out, we will be on Sprint 4.2.2 Sense5, custom kernel, and still the same fracking radio.img! (A new radio is the only thing I can see as an upgrade for this phone).

I just want the kernel so we can run the GE. Love sense but love simplicity too. And before anyone links to an aosp Rom or CM... I mean something fully functional with everything working AS IT SHOULD.

You realize LTE is the progression of GSM? Where did you get your information CDMA is a superior technology. Qualcomm abandoned their extension of CDMA into the 4G realm. I'm pretty sure you're misinformed.
What Sprint is doing with their NV upgrades is good, but I can assure you CDMA isn't where you want to be.

Your comment about GSM being outdated and inferior to CDMA is probably one of the most ludicrous claims I have ever seen.... Especially when LTE we all want so badly is based off of this technology and is REQUIRED for it to work.... Hence the added SIM cards in Sprint and Verizon phones.... That single fact alone makes your comment flat out wrong.

No. The radios are different.
One uses CDMA the others GSM.

While this is likely the case, it appears that all HTC M7s are the same hardware with slightly different firmwares; which appear to make the hardware slightly different, after all, every M7 can be a world phone, they all technically have access to the same frequencies(even the htc spec page shows this), they all have GLONASS and GPS, so overall I think the mainboards are identical to every other M7 with slightly different bootloadersds.
I wondered if there were some sort of 'fuses' that they flip to stick a phone to a company or region(none for world unlocked, 1 sprint, 2 att, etc); but that's just speculation, and it's loosely based on something Motorola has done so HTC may not have.

Nope.. Chipsets are different.
Chipsets
I think that all m7 are the same thing .... htc has changed the way they made phone .... in the past they made a phone for every service provider... and that is what caused them to be in dark waters ... and with the release of the one ... the name says it all ... HTC ONE ... there is one phone for every service provider... the service provider activates or deactivates the ... radios and frequencies.. for there service ..... LOOK on the website .. there is no difference in any of the phones .. i just hast ... different frequencies activated
I don't think so since I don't think the tmobile one can use all the lye frequencies that at&t can even when it is supercid. Something like that

I believe it's something to do with the use of a tuneable radio that can be adapted to pick up a number of different GSM/CDMA bands though. LTE is a different story altogether though.

There's no difference between the onboard radios, but the LTE hardware is different from device to device. And there's a variant of the One produced for the Asian market with an SD card slot due to the use of smaller radios in those regions. The One is much more unified, but it's still customized from carrier to carrier, just not as much (essentially, by as much as is required).
Go flash a GSM ROM/radio and see if your phone turns into a GSM device if you're that confident.

my questions r totally different than the link u have posted!!!
Htc one m7 on spark??
I was wondering if there was a way to get our sprint htc one m7 to connect to the spark network. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I see all these great thing people can do on here and thought it could be possible
Pretty sure the answer is no. The hardware on the M7 does not support the SPARK frequencies (tri-band LTE). Yep, it sucks.

I sure wish that were true. LTE sucks on Sprint. The only way I keep a reliable connection is by staying on 3g. 4g/LTE is iffy (in Portland,Oregon) at best.
The One Max had support for Spark from day one.

HTC OneĀ® Max (Sprint Spark support expected via update)
No it didnt. It needed an update.
Arent the Max and regular m7 pretty much the same hardware?
As I said, the Max had support for Spark from day one. . Just because it needed to be activated via software, doesn't mean it didn't support it.
The HTC one m7....on the other hand. AFAIK....all the software in the world won't activate Spark.
Correct. Unsupported in hardware.
