[Q] Issues drives Software Update mode - LG Optimus Black

Hi All
I am having issues upgrading my mother in laws lg970 to ICS i have tried multiple drivers/ways
all with same issue when phone reboots in to s/w upgrade mode my computer stops being able to detect it comes up with unknown device. Machine has multiple reboots before/after uninstall/installing drivers
I have tried the tons of guides around the place, tried using LGMobile Support Tool, KDZ & Smartflash all with same issue, Computer detects phone fine when its on, but as soon as i go in to S/W mode no luck. I have tried LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN32AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.2.1_2 & LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN38AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.8.1, the LG software downloads LG United Mobile Driver 3.7.2.0
(havin't had this much issue doing any of my samsung phones, or acer tablets)
Anyone got any ideas
Thanks

I also often get this problem.
After searching around, I found this step, it works for me

After 2 day on this @"#[email protected]# phone, I find a solution work only on widows 7:
With the usb recognition I succed with this protocole,
1) Uninstall the Lg driver
2) Install the driver with B2C
3) Put the phone in S/W mode with the battery windows will say that it's not recognized,
4) Unplug the phone It will stay on S/W mode
5) Reboot Windows 7, and as soon as the desktop finish to load, plug your phone
And miracle it's work. Sometime you need to do it 2,3, or 10 times.

Try from step 3 first. If it doesn't work, repeat from step 1
If it still doesn't work, do this first, then repeat above prosess
*note (base on my experience):
- step 5, I plug it when the shortcut in desktop appear
- works in windows 7 and windows 8

If you use only the original LG driver it will only work with a 32bit Windows. To make it work with a 64bit Windows you need to use a extra SW. I think it's call something like enabler, you find it here somewhere.

[Q] unable to get kies working on w7 64, tried everything how can I flash firmware?

Hi all,
I am unable to get Kies to recognise my galaxy s (when in Kies mode) or windows for that matter. I've tried installing the samsung usb drivers etc using the latest version of kies, still doesn't work.
What options do I have now in terms of firmware flashing? (I'm not installing 32bit xp just to flash my phone)
Cheers
if you search the forums you will find your answer, which will be along the line sof using Odin, very easy to use, so good luck and enjoy.
win7-64bit and kies connection semi-working method
I've tried almost all methods mentioned on different forums...but since i'm unwilling to mess to much around i've opted for this way:
using latest kies 1.5.3. 80something... on win7 64 bit..
remove the lockpattern from the phone if yo uhave it enabled
install kies...remove the kies autostart option and the kies trayagent
do the repair drivers and reboot
ones the bios screen is done..have the phone unlocked and connect to pc/laptop
wait and wait some more after login to windows..
one most occasions windows will finally tell you it have a new device ready for you...then open kies and life is good.. at least until like in my case the laptop goes into powersave mode and the connections are broken and I have to do the reboot step again
the firmware update from jf__ something to jm__ something was a hassle...but after a few attempts to run it the darn thing finally worked..
hope this helps
thanks for the help b, tried it but didn't work
I think the official word from samsung is that kies does not support windows 7 64.
Seriously regret ever getting this phone.

i am with win7 x64, fine here
using odin to flash rom is dam easy job.
Kies updated to _82 today.
the _82 update fixed closing the firmware updater for me that was in the last 2 builds on win7 x64 , it promptly closes having not used up more than 33mb ram when I click cancel or close after checking for new firmware, previously it billowed up to over 1300mb use and really flawed my system until it, kies and the connection manager were terminated fully.

Galaxy note with windows 8 connection problem. Please help.

I just installed windows 8 Consumer preview. I had my Galaxy note working before with the USB connection on windows 7, but now after windows 8 is installed over 7 I have a problem connecting my Galaxy note with the computer. It seems that it is an MTP problem or something went wrong after windows eight is installed. I have read on a Microsoft MSDN post that the mtp protocol is not yet supported with windows 8. If there is something that I can use to work around that It would be appreciated. Please help.

Try installing Droid Explorer on your PC.
All of us on ICS Roms have the same USB connection problem, and this little program is the solution. It recognizes our Notes automagically without Windoze drivers.
Don't know if it'll work for you, but it's worth a try.
I will do that. But would it make a difference if I still have GB on my note? Thanks

I had this problem as well, easiest solution is to put the Note in USB Debugging mode, and it will connect with Windows 8 fine.
You can find USB Debugging mode in Settings -->Applications --> Development.
weird, I have a similar problem : I want to install CWM, but "adb devices" doesn't see any devices....I have "USB debugging" checked, I tried to install samsung drivers, Droid explorer, Kies won't install, and it is not recognizes as a device by Windows. Strange thing is, if I remember correctly, I successfully flashed a stock firmware using PC Odin. Any ideas ?
Windows 8 Desktop, ICS Note. Everything's working fine here. Haven't had to install anything on either end to get it to work.
I do have USB debugging enabled though, as suggested above.
i am having the same problem. at 1st win8 detects it and i always charge on it but lately i noticed it does not detect. i went to my home pc win 7 64bit which is detecting before but now i did not detect also. i did everything kies. driver of droid but still the same problem. Weird yet still it charges.

It worked a few times after that when I installed the google driver but now I have the same problem with both windows 7 ultimate 64bits and windows 8 release preview. It is charging but not detected. I also tried different cables with no progress. I sudpect it could be that one of the pins of the note connector is not OK. Can anyone help please

[Q] Issues instaling drivers in USB debug mode (winxp), can anyone help?

This is partially a Windows support issue, but hopefully someone here has had a similar experience or at least got some good ideas how i can troubleshoot this...
When i plug my Note on my machine if i got USB debugging enabled, Windows starts installing the drivers, but then the device installation thingy freezes (i've tried both just letting it do it's thing automaticly and the add hardware thingy from the control panel, same results), i can't even start the add hardware thingy afterwards (it complains some hardware is still being installed and it can't install more than one at once), Windows won't shutdown afterwards; and if it is plugged with the computer off or remains plugged when rebooting Windows won't finish booting, even if i try to boot in safe mode (but if it isn't plugged while Windows loads the boot goes just fine).
The pc is running WinXP 32bits SP3 (in brazilian portuguese if that matters), and the Note still got the factory's Gingerbread UBKK3 (not rooted yet). Feel free to ask for any additional information you believe i can provide that could help you help me figure this out.
Any ideas how i can figure out what is going wrong here?
ps:before anyone suggests it, no, reformatting the PC is not somthing i'd be willing to consider at the moment; and unless there is no drivers avaiable for WinXP i definitly don't wanna downgrade to 7, much less Vista.
1. have u installed samsung kies. if not try it
or
2. Check this http://liamcrayden.blogspot.in/2012/03/galaxy-note-adb-drivers-without-samsung.html?m=1link

Kies is installed and works just fine; do i need to install that stuff from that blog? Can i even trust that site to not sneak malwares inside the drivers or the executable? (no offense intended, i'm just not used to installing thirdparty drivers from sites that don't appear that big)

If Kies is installed and up to date then you don't need any further drivers.
Might be worth un installing Kies and samsung usb drivers, reboot, download Kies again and install, reboot. Make sure you're connecting the phone in the rear (motherboard) usb ports and see how it works from there.
Is it just the phone that causes this issue, or other usb devices also?

I already tried uninstalling and reinstaling Kies as well as the "devices" that get installed when i plug the note; things still go screwy if i try plugging my Note with USB debugging mode activated.
Perhaps i'm not explaining this right. What i call "installing drivers" is what windows does when you plug a new device; i'm not talking about just having the files avaiable, but actually setting things up to use the device.
Btw, it seems Windows doesn't recognize the Note as the same device with and without the USB debug mode, it installs more than one of some of the "virtual" devices; i noticed it 'cause it installs a "Samsung Mobile USB Modem #2" after i try to plug the device both with the USB debug mode disabled, and with it enabled (had to do that trick to show unplugged devices to actually see both the plain USB Modem and the USB Modem #2 at the same time, but the fact there was a #2 being installed clued me it had another one it still counted as being present)
A small update: I might've found a lead on what is going on; according to Wikipedia
Noting that the latest (as of 2012/09/02) driver version Samsung Android ADB driver 2.9.503.726 is broken (blue screen), and once installed fails to recognise Samsung devices ('Manufacturer Hardware ID missing'). This is supplied as part of Kies.

I don't get BSOD's, but that is precisely the version of the ADB driver that gets installed for me.
Nope, that wasn't it
I tried the drivers from that blog, and even though they are a different version things still go bad if i plug the Note in USB debug mode

I can't say exactly what the problem is, but had you seen that Gingerbread has USB options in 3 different places in the Settings menus?
- Location and Security, Disable USB debugging mode;
- Applications , USB Debugging;
- Wireless and network, USB utilities, Connect storage to PC (button).
I found you have to play around with those to get the connection working properly. I also found it's not a good idea to try to use Kies and Samsung drivers together on one PC. There's quite a lot about these issues on this thread and links therefrom. Hope this helps.
i got an issue regarding Usb mode too @@
recently i upgrade Note to blackCNA v2.1 and i can't "turn on usb" neither "turn off usb". when i stick Note to the computer, it's showed as "portable media player".
i've tried installing and uninstalling then reinstalling everything, from Kies to samsung usb driver, then reboot, then do it in another laptops, but it doesn't work @@
what can i do to fix it now @@

Do i need to uninstall Kies, or just kill all Kies* processes before plugging it in? (i think i already tried both, i'm not gonna try again unnecessarily 'cause when it freezes the driver installation thingy, Windows won't shutdown (it freezes after a while before finishing the process) and i'm forced to go for the physical power switch; i already had some bad experiences with HDDs developing an increased amount of bad blocks during similar circumstances in the past so i don't feel quite comfortable having to cut the power before the OS says it is ok if i have a choice)
Whether you use Kies or Samsung drivers really depends on what you want to do with your device. Kies lets you synchronise your contacts, agenda, etc. with Outlook on your computer. On the other hand if you are going to work on your device's software (rooting, flashing, modifying, (de-)odexing or even just transferring files) then you're better off with Samsung drivers. See this post for a download link. If you read the posts around this one, you will see how Chasmodo stresses the importance of completely getting rid of Kies before installing the Samsung drivers.
I would recommend you completely clean your PC of all drivers, Kies or Samsung drivers (software and registry) with your Note completely disconnected from it. There should be no yellow-triangle devices or anything like that in your PC device list, and your PC should be rebooting normally again. Next install either Samsung drivers or Kies, depending on what you want to do, with the Note still not connected and only when they're comfortably installed and your PC is still working and rebooting properly, reconnect your Note and let the PC detect and finish the installation.
Kies in particular is quite temperamental so it may take a bit of playing around before everything is set up for a sync if that's what you want to do.

Win8 BSOD w. LG Drivers & Fastboot

1st: since this is my first post:
Hi! I'm a 25-year-old guy from germany, study applied computer sciences, work at my Bachelor-Degree atm & work as a developer at an E-Commerce-Agency.
2nd: my problem:
I own a P990 and wanted to flash a new baseband. I have a new Laptop with Windows 8 x64. So I installed the B2CAppSetup, downloaded the drivers for the P990 and plugged in my phone (remove battery, plugin with volume down pressed .. you know the deal). Windows searches for drivers and BÄM .. Bluescreen
This was reproducible so I uninstalled the LG Software and installed the LGUnitedMobileDriver 3.8.1. Still BSOD
The Bluescreen-Message was of the "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"-type and was caused by "usbehci.sys".
Is the driver incompatible to Windows 8? Is there a workaround (aside from uninstalling W8)?
Previously with W7 everything worked fine..
Thanks in advance for your help
Check the developers section for the all in one tool kit by Spyrosk....you have the drivers in it and the way to install for windows 8
Will work then....

EDIT: it is a tool kit....thanks to the auto correction in Keyboard....it became roll kit....lol

[Q] Windows 8 and 4X Upgrade Crash?

Hey guys,
I just received a new LG Optimus 4X HD (P880) device today, and I thought that I would do the usual check to make sure everything was up to date.
Upon upgrading the device via the LG PC Suite, as soon as my phone entered its "upgrade mode", my Windows 8 PC crash, citing a driver error. Whilst whenever in this mode, connecting it into the PC would cause the PC to crash. Luckily, no data on the device had changed which allowed me to successfully forcefully restart the device with (so far) no problems.
I would like to know if anybody else has encountered such problems, and if possible, ways to circumvent them? If not, are there any alternative (read: unofficial) upgrade paths I could take? (software version: LG-P880-V10e-SEP-25-2012; Android version: 4.0.3)
Cheers,
Dan.
I got the same problem, reinstall the drivers don't work.

i think windows 8 has some compatability issues. Try calling your country's customer care.
Try on Windows 7
I had exactly the same problem, then I tried on my friends pc that runs Windows 7 and it was done smoothly. Looks like some compatibility issues. One more option may help; "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8". Follow the steps to do so:
From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
I haven't tried it myself but planning to do while updating next time.
Also make sure you use a direct USB 2.0 on the motherboard of your pc (back side of your pc). I also had this problem, but it happened when I used the USB 3.0 port on the front of my pc. After I used the 2.0 port it installed the update without any problems from my Windows 8 machine.
I´m having this problem and I only have my win8 laptop available... is there a way?
I tried in all usb ports... when the phone gets in update mode I get the blue screen and the laptop restarts (dell inspiron)
