please help - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem with installations EHNDROX ii ROM. A week ago I installed the latest ROM 27.02.13 neat. and later I want to install a more recent but did not accept the installation. I went recavery mode and there I noticed that even he no longer works. I use CWM6013-CM9-recovery. I can not run anything in that mode. We only accept the installation of standard 2.3.6 ROM versions and standard mode but recavery ništadrugo. I would like some help. Could one or more ROM version 4.xx install.

R: please help
Do you know you are in development section?
Next time please post in the right section.

Problem updating

Hy every 1, when i open LG Suport Tool it says:
A new version of phone software was released.
You must update the phone.
So, i hit Start, and at 40% (check the phone) and it says: Your phone is up to date...
I have the official GB v20e Romania....
It's the known fake update..

Hello!
This is a known "bug" of the LG Updater...
...but you could use the latest Euro Open firmware v20l - this should work for you...

Yes you'll lost all your data and the root.. GB is a bit harder to root than froyo but there are some guides in the dev forum

No, you shouldn’t loose your data that way – but you would loose root when using the original LG-ROM.
But there is a pre-rooted version around…
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327949
But when you already rooted your phone, maybe you want to update to one of the newer custom roms including leaked stuff from the newest stock roms v20m/o etc. like i.e.
Guestes Golden Hybrid Rom V2.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405012
…or…
Django Manouche 0.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410662
But as always – backup first using i.e. MyPhoneExplorer for SMS, contacts, calendar and Titanium Backup for you apps…
So he won't loose apps but after an upgrade like this it's recommended a wipe data factory so data will be lost anyway

Hello!
The question was “Will my apps be erased…”
He wouldn't loose data updating the linked way...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327929
A full wipe isn’t necessary – only wiping /cache and dalvik-cache is advisable – and doesn’t hurt. No need to format /data here…
...and yes, he should do a full wipe using the suggested custom roms.
But this is a different option/argument and if he reads the intros he should realize that…
And as always make a backup before you update your rom anyway.

-Well, there is alot of plenty good roms/kernels, im currently using the Avatar rom and i must say, it's a very good rom, stable and fast, so give it a try =)
Link to the Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141589
-There is alot, google and you will find some.
-Here is a step by step guide on how to root: http://theunlockr.com/2012/10/22/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-cf-kernel-method/
How to install CWM: http://theunlockr.com/2012/11/22/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000/
-Yes, Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache and flash your new rom.
-Basicly what you have to do before flashing a custom rom is: Rooting of course, Installing CWM, Booting into CWM, Wipe, Flash new rom.
Good luck!

[Q] Safe to remove Status 7

Hello
So I'm trying to install the last stable release of CyanogenMod (cm-7.2.0-cooper.zip) on my Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830) using ClockworkMod Recovery (which I'm actually stuck in but that's another story). Anyway when I try to install I get a status 7 error. I found a good guide and I'm pretty sure I know how to rectify it (by removing the assert) but my question is: is it safe do so? This is the latest stable release of CyanogenMod so I'm pretty confident but I can't emphasize how much I don't want to brick my phone.
I can't post any links as I'm a noob but I found the stable release straight off the CyanogenMod wiki.
Thanks

you'll only be able to install CM7 with a custom recovery, so first of all root your device and flash CWM 5.0.2.6. FIX
CM 7.2 stable is designed to run on GT-S5830 so if you get any kind of error while installing it is not made by the package you're installing so in order to avoid serious demage like brick to your device find other way to make it work. Maybe if you describe exactly what you did to install the rom we can help you with more accuracy and easly

If you come from CM10.2 or CM11 first flash stock firmware with Odin.
You need to install first V1 then V1.1

Try CM10.1 20131117 - I remember it was working great. Did you do clean install? And if you look at the forum, you will see that 90% (if not 100%) of our developers has new phone.

This is not going anywhere.
We do not have anyone with much free time and device to go back and deal with old CMs (this sentence is crucial) - even with newest one. AntaresOne said he will if he gets SGSA again and free time.
Solution = new device with an active development.

Since apparently doesn't need updates, look how works well 20131117 build
In 2014 I developed a new build backporting a lot of things from our CM11 tree, like new kernel, cpu/gpu overclock, novathor settings with everything working (except storage swap, but in 4.2 can be done easy by modifying vold.fstab in system/etc), fixed wifi toggle bug... The only thing bad is that it's unstable since gets some random reboots, slowdowns, force closes... Was just a test to start to backport and get these things work better without that problems, when I'll get that other janice my intention is to continue and release a last build with new goodies and without problems
