Hi frinends,
I want to know from a tested one, witch is the best Modem for the best signal in Europe, if someone tested all modems.
Thanks.

We discussed all modems are good, but it depends on many factors, what is good for one may be bad for otro. To prove.Saludos.

Modem does not affect wifi!!!! If you think that it is placebo for you.

Contrary to popular belief, the modem does not affect your Wi-Fi signal, that is handled by the kernel.

you're wrong son, i have tested aprox.~ 10 Modems, Tested on Wifi Signal and the modem affect Wifi. On a modem 200kb and another 2mb (same wifi router )
Best for me , XXJVT , Good Signal, Wifi.
The only thing that may affect it is the time taken to connect to wifi :highfive:

There are a lot of Rom's out there, stock or not. We've seen Semaphore, CF-root and Galaxian.
But what about the poor old Modem?!
Does latest mean best, or simply latest?
What's the best modem you've used for I9000 2.2/2.3?
Main points to qualify with;
- Battery usage
- Signal quality / strength
- GPS
- Country and carrier (Thanks Slaphead20)
- other!
Vote away! I've tried to include all those i've heard of being good, I know there's another thread over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
but I though a big poll for couldn't hurt.

JVO is the best for me, plainly because the signal didn't always drop like the newest ones.
Jvq or jpy

For me hands down JV6.
Best call clarity that I've used. Love the battery life and GPS Lock too!
Every modem I've tried was better in one area or another, but JV6 gives me the best balance of them all, and I'm really liking the results...

JPY and JVQ were good modems for me, as far as I can remember.
But to be fair, the experience is vastly different between regions, countries, and carriers, or we wouldn't have all those different modems.
Now I'm testing JVS and JVT, and so far JVT seems like a good modem in terms of balance.
vote for DXJV9.
Good signal & easy to Lock GPS
Kind of pointless thread as modem performance is related to area/carrier/terrain etc!

Valid point.
But you gotta admit, some modems are generally going to be a lot better than the others, so i don't think this is pointless...

Hello all,
My SGS has the weirdest WiFi problem. It connects. It browses. It works fine.
BUT, it does not got to certain speeds or certain distances from the router.
The available internet speed for phones in my university is 10mbit/s, but when i try speedtest, it gives me 790kbit/s.
And the max distance, in every single router I've tried, it's not as far as other phones can get. Even a Nokia E71 can get 10 more meters away from the router than I can.
Example: I can be sitting with my friend, who has an HTC. He is downloading with 5Mb/s and sitting further away from the router outside. While I am downloading at 60Kb/s.
I've tried many ROMs (currently on CM9), and none of them worked.
Thanks, and sorry for the long post.
Speedtest shows 790kbit/s or 790kBit/s ??? As you know 1kb ~ 8kB
If there is indeed something wrong, I would try different modem, not different ROM.

My bad. KBit/s. In either case, my phone is many MBit/s behind. Would a different modem work on CM9?

And what is your current modem?
By the way, ~6,5mb/s from shared wifi access point with speed limited to 10mb/s is not so bad?
It's not bad at all. But all I am getting is 50-60Kb/s of download speed and at very short distances.
How do I know my modem? I only know the official GB modem I flashed using Odin.

OK, I was wrong with my modem/radio idea
Anyway, if you get speed over 6Mb/s from public 10Mb hotspot (SpeedTest result) your phone is OK! When you try to download something, and it is downloading slow, it probably means that the server you are downloading from has slow upload speed... Result from SpeedTest shows that your connectivity is fine...

Clearly you have got the buck wrong here man, its not only his speed that is the problem, it is the range, this phone is capable of a lot of range, I can reach wifi networks from down the road when I was on gb and ice isn't quite as good and he wants the best he can get.

Sorry for the late reply guys. changing the modem and the kernel didn't work. It is still super SLOW and the range is still the same (even after turning on Devil's fast-wifi)
Any more suggestions?

Hi,
Just trying to find the best modem to use in Melbourne or the best one for virgin.
I'm currently on JVT I can't get more then 2 bars while at home.
Any help will be great.
I'm in Canberra on TPG (optus) and the best one I've used is 19000XXJVE.
I've tried about 20 in the past and this one has good battery and reception. Not sure if it will suit your situation though.
I used the app "Perka's File Stash" to download and flash a bunch of different modems. Which led to the one im using.
Cheers that's what I'm doing also but just thought it would be easier to ask then downloading and testing them all out.
Thanks anyway.
Anyone tried and test any good modems that work good in melb?

I think you could do 2 types of roms and one for others to e15a - e15i. of the same developers
the user without problems using the radio reception signal cel.
I'm from Argentina my x8 is e15a.
all roms som for e15i.
from and to and proven all.
not only the problem of 3G but also the amount of signal is poorer.
use this band E15a_X8a_2.1.1.A.0.6_Baseband_015 this basis and my cel is unlocked.
I do not think being the only one with these problems.
As with all these problems use the roms come out.
from already thank you very much.

Yes I have tested the WiFi reception with an Iphone, works much better, and with a laptop it's really great but that's not expected.
I have lousy reception even if I'm only in the next room of the router.
I have almost the same problem too, its like the reception is getting weaker than before

I have noticed the same, my 9070p receives a weak signal or no signal where my laptop receives an adequate to strong signal.
