DivX is not a (generally) DLNA-approved standard perhaps?
You will need to check the manual/website for your particular TV. For example:

Hi Guys:
Is there a player that can read all (most of) the video formats?
I have TCPMP which is fantastic but it cannot read rmvb.
Yeah, I know I can convert rmvb to avi or divx... but you know... well...
Anyway, thx in advance!
You need Real Player to play .rmvb
Try this :

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
Anyone know the best format for playback? So I've used standard MP4 with 24 AAC sound. It's OK on windows media player, but I'm gonna try to improve sound quality.

Interesting, with such a helpful guy around, live is easy
As I could not find an addon for the media player to accept .avi I switched to Coreplayer. No regrets, but why use 2 programs where one could do the job?
So mr Fruitcake, please expose your sources.

The free playert is nice, but drags along - very low frames per minute it seems

You should give us link to try.
I found something on YouTube and if you meant on something like this YOUTUBE LINK then YES it can and it's very smooth.
If you have link for short movie to download, send me PM and I will try for you.

Stock Player can't
What he is asking for is if the Z1 can play Hi10p encoding. This is the latest encoding using 10bits instead of the normal 8bits (you can google for the rest of the features). You can go to doki.co or bakabt.me (BBT usually has larger files since it's full series, but if you're afraid of getting called the P word, everything in BBT is unlicensed in the states) and get one of the episodes there. The episode name will have 10bit or Hi10P or H10P in the name.
I don't watch movies on my device, but I have a few downloaded and waiting to be transferred off. I tried and the stock player and ES media player can't play these videos. I'm not sure if there are any 10bit player in the play store either.
I'm sure Z1 can handle that video but the question is do we have software and codex for that.
I really don't know that - so sorry - can't help here.

Also watch a crapton of anime, Z1 plays 720p Hi10p videos fine using MX Player.
Struggles with 1080p Hi10p, but the file I tested had a very high bitrate and it was streamed from my PC.
Only works with software mode though, so battery takes a bit of a hit.

Do you have stock kernel and stock ROM? Have you try in mx player "h/w", "h/w+" and "s/w" decode for video and audio too?

Yes, you are right. I thought I've tested it long time ago but maybe I'm wrong. Now I was testing 60 fps video and they don't play well on my phone.
I think the Snapdragon S4 Pro is a bit old and can't deal with that. The T2 ultra has a "worse" processor but more modern:
Sony Xperia Z vs Sony Xperia T2 Ultra
maybe this is the reason but I really don't know so if someone knows the real reason he is welcome.
I've tested the same videos in an Android stick and it plays them better but not perfect. The processor isn't very good but more modern than the SXZ one.
I'm sorry because I can't help you much more.
whts ur android version? cuz i think that the newer update can play better (4.4.4)

I think bcoz the t2 ultra has preloaded decoder to play such type /format videos... And our Z is old so it don't have preloaded decoder of such type...
Don't tension its just a software issue... That's why video player apps are there which provides decoder to play any type of videos if the hardware ia capable of..

Hi all,
I have just started using the Xperia 1 ii and I am really enjoying it so far! Unfortunately though I am having an issue with all the films I have bought on YouTube & Google Play Movies where for some reason the highest resolution I can select is 480p. Obviously one of the main features of this phone is its gorgeous 4K 21:9 screen, but having to watch all my films in 480p makes that sort of redundant.
I have tried watching videos on Netflix and Disney+ and had no problems (the display is mind-blowing in fact!). Non purchased videos in YouTube are fine and let me select whatever resolution I want & even downloading the films in HD from Google Play Movies doesn't fix the resolution issue either...
Has anyone else had this problem on this (or any other) phone? Is it a glitch? If so, any ideas for a possible work around would be greatly appreciated!!
Maybe it doesn't come from the phone but Google.
As you bought them with 480P resolution, they're maybe locked by Google.
Did you try to buy a new one from your Xperia 1 II?
Thank you for the reply ?
All of my films were purchased before I got my Xperia 1 ii. They still work in 1080p resolution or higher in all my other devices. So yeah it's something to do with this device, I've just got no idea what!
Have you tried to use any YouTube purchases yourself?

No I haven't tried. I don't buy anything from YouTube.
Yes I got the same issue and also found it when using Play Movie. But it happens when the movies are from the US. Asian movies are okay and allow me to choose 1080p. Maybe the issue comes from Motion Blur Reduction.
