[Q] how to root gingerbread 2.3.3

How can i root the gingerbread 2.3.3 on the galaxy S I9000?
My phone was rooted and then I installed gingerbread 2.3.3 and then the root was gone. Anyone know how to root this?
thanks in advance
Depends on which 2.3.3 version is your phone - JVK< JVB< JVH< JVO. You could flash the chainfire's CF-Root 3.2 kernel coz it's pretty clean and simple. Just go in his thread and I think in post No 6 you'll find the latest versions - just download the one for your ROM, unzip it to get the .tar zip and flash it as a PDA through odin - you'll get both root and CWM

I have JVK. I downloaded this gingerbread 2.3.3 :
and then i went to that topic you said and installed 3.2. But maybe I installed the wrong one. Do you know which one i have to instal?
this is my info:
firmware: 2.3.3
baseband: 19000xxjvk
kernel: 2.6.35.7- i9000xwjvh-cl184813 [email protected] #2
buildnumber: gingerbread.xxjvk
I think it was the kernel I last downloaded. So I reinstalled gingerbread 2.3.3 to remove the root.
i9001
firmware: 2.3.3
baseband: I9001BUKE2
kernel: 2.6.35.7- perf

[Q] I messed up Gingerbread Install

I installed Gingerbread using Odin and it worked fine. Now I want to install CM7 but realized I forgot to root the Tab first. Ooops... How does this happen?
I am trying to root with Superoneclick 2.1.1 but it keeps locking on step 6. Then Superoneclick shows (Not Responding).
So after install here it is;
Galaxy Tab as GT-P1000
Firmware 2.3.3
Baseband P1000XXJPZ
Kernal 2.6.35.7
Build GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
I used Odin 1.3 for the install and I am trying to root using Superoneclick 2.1.1. I assume my issue is that I did not root first. But if you think I can still root now and just need some help, that would be great.
I don't think SOC works on Gingerbread (yet). You'll need to flash Chainfire's rooted kernel.

[Q] Noob wanting to root

Hiya all, first post
Here's an old one...i want to root my galaxy note ...
My model is gt-n7000 running android 2.3.6
Baseband n7000xxla4
Kernel LA6
Build gingerbread.xxla6
Even though many of you more technically advanced may find it very easy i have trawled the net & YouTube & just do not know what way to safely go about it!
It's so simple to download a set of files & it does look easy to do but there are a few different ways,
Can anyone please help?
Many thanks in advance

For firmware KL7 or later you can't root directly. So you need to flash as stock, but pre-rooted ROM using PC Odin for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352945&referrerid=4386116
After this, flash a Kernel that has CWM 5 and is compatibel to CF Root Kernel (with Mobil ODIN - see market) like this one:

I wud go with CF-Root-JP6-v1.2-Busybox-1.15.3.zip
1. Go back to stock GB [This will important as you need GB Bootloader]: Flashing To Original Rom - Using Odin on GT-i9000
2. Root your device: Rooting GT-I9000 2.3.3 [India DDJV9]
3. Install ICS: Installing Ice-cream Sandwich 4.0.4 On Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000
4. Install JB: Installing Jelly Bean 4.1 on Galaxy S GT-I9000
ENJOY
gopalasubramanium, what means GB? i don't have stock GB?
And i can't install directly jelly bean?
Root with Z4root APP
Download , connect your phone to the computer, mount SD card and copy the APK file to Internal SD card
Now launch a File Manager in your device.
If you dont have installed any file manager on your phone download one of your choice from Google Play
(Astro File Manager, ES File Explorerm OI File Manager, …).
Once you are done downloading the file manager,
launch Z4Root.apk file and follow onscreen instruction to install Z4root APK you earlier copied to SD card root.
Once the app is installed on your phone, launch z4root app and when it will be opened click on the “Root” button in application.
Wait for the process to finish and reboot your device once it is done.
After reboor, your device will be rooted.
If you dont get rooted with z4root, install first busybox from Google Play and then install Z4Root. Some devices have this requirement.
Let me know....

GB means Ginger Bread. It's highly advisable that you follow the order I have mentioned.
