Stylus on Nook HD+ - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have bought a new Nook HD+ (32GB) for reading magazines. I think the B&N rendition of magazines is much better than Google.
However I am noticing that the screen of Nook HD+ does not allow smooth gestures like other Android tablets. Finger feels sticky drag. Same is true for the Vara stylus (made for this device by B&N). Because of this, you end up getting incorrect screen responses.
Is that common with Nook HD+ or just I have a defective unit. The software is stock 2.0.6.

The sticky feel is lack of a screen protector. Mine was that way until I got one. I think the bare screen is just sticky.

What kind of screen protector you have? I have the one by B&N and it is just as sticky as the bare screen.

After you have used the tablet for a few days the screen is not as sticky and it should work and feel better

M-Edge Latitude Jacket now available for NC

I just picked one up at Best Buy. Very nice case for traveling with your NC.
M-Edge

$40 for a nylon bag is a bit steep! No, a lot steep! Sorry, it may look nice, but IMO not worth the $$$$.
Cheers,

Wow way to expensive , my leather laptop case witch is a whole lot bigger is cheaper than that, look else where my friend
They are happy with what they got and wanted to share. Hell I spent $72 on my leather oberon tree of life case. I couldn't be happier. To each their own.
I picked this one up:
bestbuy(dot)com/site/M-Edge+Accessories+-+Latitude+Jacket+for+nook+-+Red/9834665.p;jsessionid=97939E1F902D70FE5B49EE09DD9FC275.bbolsp-app06-29?id=1218181017432&skuId=9834665&st=m-edge&cp=1&lp=14\
sorry not able to post links yet - change dot to .
works great. Protects, has a lil room in the top zipper pocket for SD cards, stylus, data cable, etc. Does fit the charging block too, but it's a tiiiight fit and kinda puts pressure where the screen is inside so i'm weary about loading it in there.
Looks nicer than the one above too They have a black, a blue and another. They had a really nice green one on the m-edge site (Android anyone?) but I can't seem to find them in retail stores or online.
Got the blue one online from m-edge after seeing the original nook one at best buy. Love it.
Nook vs NC version
I've read that the NC can fit into the Nook version of the Latitude Jacket, but note that the NC version has a built-in bracket that the NC snaps into to hold it tight.

I tried this. I don't recommend it. The one I got from best buy when i was under the impression the nook and nook color were the same size gave me some issues.
1) leather loop corners (no idea how to describe these) to hold it in. Not a snug fit
2) The corner on the top left made direct contact with the power button as it went over the nook. It turned on several times on me.
thanks for the info

[Q] Cases and sizing?

Hello all!
So I have a KF2 and am using what is basically this case
http://www.targus.com/us/productdet...l1=&cp=&bannertxt=Cases for Tablet & e-Reader
Now, I like it, but the one I got said it was for generic 7" e-readers. Now, what I wanted was basically a book-style case but I often find myself at home removing the case because I want to grip the solid edge. With the case it's pretty much holding onto the back part of the case because the tablet sits in the middle, instead of flush to the edge.
So, firstly, is the KF2 the exact dimensions of the original KF or the KFHD?
Secondarily, do you guys know of any specific cases for the device that sit as flush to the edges as possible? Doesn't even necessarily have to be a book style case, and having a stand is nice, but not required. I just want a case that protects the screen and whatnot when it's in my bag, and to actually let me hold the edges.
Thanks!
There's a whole accessories forum that would possibly be of more help.

Okay I'll post there when I get home. Does anyone know about the dimensions though? That way i could look for cases for the earlier device too which would be nice and improve the selection

[Q] Is it possible to replace a broken screen

So after much deliberation over which tab to get I plumped for a nook HD, got a cracking deal via eBay, bought a memory card, installed android as a dual boot, absolutely loving it. Had it exactly one week and... dropped a bottle of beer and cracked the top of the screen. Haven't even had it long enough for the lovely leather case I ordered for it to arrive. Gutted.
Anyway, can someone please let me know if its possible to replace the screen and how much it would cost. I'm in the UK.
The nook is still usable as it is, if a little delicate, but the cracks will soon worsen I'm sure.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Probably not since he bought from ebay. Assuming it is used of course.
Haven't heard of any place that has replacement parts so far though.

Well, he still might be able to get it fixed through B&N, even if he has to pay.

Look around.com there is a tear down thread to see what you are getting into

I have already contacted B&N and they basically told me feck off as they have no repair centre. If it gets any worse then I'll see what options there are for fixing it myself. Gulp.
Thanks
yep, BN also says to throw the device out and get a new one when the battery is end of life. The advantage to buying from BN is that you can get the full replacement warranty at sales time.
FWIW, the warranty (standard 1 year for defects, or extra dollar replacement) from BN transfers with the device, so a used HD / HD+ does have that warranty. Sadly, it does not include damage sustained in bar fights.
I looked for the teardown and am only seeing one for the HD+ units (via the FCC) - it was originally described as an HD teardown, but it is not.
I'm not seeing a source for a 1440 x 900 IPS touchscreen display, let alone a 7" one but I know there are shops who can order spare iPhone screens and even fit them for you. Definitely worth calling one or two of those if you have any locally - they may only be able to source Apple replacements, or they may have a contact who can ask about these screens, too.

I have a similar situation; HD+ fell out of my wife's purse while unloading our son from the car and it landed screen-down on the pavement, cracking the screen. My question is this: does the entire screen module need to be replaced, or can the glass be replaced separately (assuming I can locate a source)? What are the part numbers for these options, if you have them?

Actually i not token screen itself apart yet. But i promise that do this and post results. Tomorrow i have free day that this not be done before Thursday Friday. More i think i do this on Saturday when i at work.
I wrote it before that seems Nook HD+ dont have glass digitizer but some kind of special durable plastic. Anyway, i make before research and then give response.

Good CHEAP screen protector for HD+?

Hi Guys,
I recently got an HD+, liking it so far, but there's one issue that really bugs me. Finger prints are REALLY visible on this screen.
Are there any good screen protectors (that happen to be cheap) that guard against this? Thanks!

Cheap, no, but good, yes. The B&N anti-glare. Does wonders on prints. And it is on sale at B&N now.

I got this one from ebay. It's relatively cheap and does the job perfectly.
I'm mainly concerned with protecting my screen from damage, but I've been using Green Onions Supply Crystal Anti-Fingerprint Screen Protector from Amazon on a pair of Nook HD+ tablets at my house and they've held up very well for months. They do require cleaning sometimes, but everything does I suppose.
Which if any anti-glare ones dont ruin the color/pixel appearance (?)

[Q] Is there a good source for HD plus screens?

My kids broke my Nook HD+ screen. I've found some places that advertise screens for $30-50 but the only ones I've found in stock are $150 or higher. I can get a used nook for that much.
Is there a place to get a screen cheap enough to make it worth while to repair it?
