Hey guys,
First off, from a xda noob, that video you have to see at registration - genius.
Second, to get down to business, I have this stupid X8 (11W48, if it means anything to you) that has been giving me trouble since I got it.
It restarted itself randomly, which was not that big a deal until it started happening every hour or so,
then it started giving me errors all the time (I couldn't in any way enter my settings, force closes it),
and now finally, after trying the button combinations to force a factory reset, it's on constant loop, booting up to the logo and then restarting itself over and over and over again.
I never actually did anything to it, except for the usual apps from the market and stuff, so I guess that wouldn't cause the issue.
Now I don't quite know what to do. I can't go for PCC or Flashtool, really, cause I've tried - it tells me it recognizes the device (provided it doesn't restart right away and kill the connection) but the debugging mode or something is not turned on.
How the duck can I factory reset it? Or fix it at all?
And yes, I've tried searching, but I haven't come across a problem like this.
Please don't tell me to send it to Sony or something :crying:
Thanks
Hey,
Unfortunately I think you've a damaged x8..
I'd send to sony cause there is nothing you can do in the condition it's in. You need usb debugging on to attempt to fix it.
Maybe remove battery for an hour or so. Let the phone go cold inside.
You might get into settings upon reboot.
Good luck!!

Use flashtool....
You don't need to turn on your phone for that...
Here..

Sent from my E15i
don't be panic at this moments, your X8 is just Softbricked Okay! just SOFT.
if it still shows the Sony Ericsson logo,Still vibrate when turn on-its fine.
you need to use PC companion correctly and properly to get the
PC companion recognize your X8
note:-if you have PCC before and used hardly with your X8,PCC may not work properly in repairing our phone
so,
-uninstall completely your PC companion(restart)
-clean Registry and other left over pieces of the PC companion files(Restart)
-download a fresh copy of PC companion here:http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
-install it and restart
-open PC companion and go to the support Zone(wait it to download approx 2mb)
-and click software update on it
-and then click repair my phone.
Note:the firmware and the updating tool download may take as long as half hour depending on your Internet Speed
that's all, just follow the step on screen just tick tick tick and do what its says.
after that select your X8 if its in the list and its says you need to
plug in your device while holding back button.just do it.and you can see some magic automatically on your PC screen.
after finished unplug your device and turn it on. you will back to original pure 2.1 SE skinned android.
IF YOU HATE DOING THE PROCEDURE AT THE TOP!!!
go to http://androxyde.github.com/
download the flash tool and install it.
you need to download Original X8's firmware you can find in Gogeta's signature
you need to put the X8 firmware in the C:/Flashtool/firmwares/drop it here
open flash tool and click the Flash button and it pop-up with default flash mode just click OK
and it shows a window with 2 firmware with included X10 firmware and the X8 firmware that
you dropped in select X8 carefully and don't click anything just click OK
after you clicked OK you will see couple of logs in the screen and says
preparing files for flashing and after seconds it says you need to
connect your device. and do the on screen procedure,
after it detect the device,MAGIC will happen in your PC screen.
that's all simple procedure.
Requirements:
cool head and clear aye.
I went for the Flashtool way - it worked! Thank you so much!
so that why i say don't be so panic or stressed when doing this type of job.
use Flashtool the way it should be and don't play with it too much!
maybe you will hardbrick your X8 if flash non-X8 firmwares...
use Flashtool when necessarily needed.

how to hard reset the x8, without turning on the device?
because it is freezing at the boot screen ...
you need flash by Flash tool or seus (or PCC)
before this problem happened, I turned off the USB debugging, so neither option is viable
If you use seus/pcc/flashtool,they are no need USB debugging,so you can use these tools to fix your phone.
i´ve got the same problem.

The easiest way is use PCC/SEUS,they'll have all instructions.
If they can't help you to fix your phone, try to use flashtool.

my phone can't start
my x8 still won't start......
it still stuck on the rebooting logo........
it happen when i install the ansroid 2.2
when i restored the backu up file.........
it stuck on the sony logo........
it will be nice if i can start using my phone again.....
Try not to restore data if u flashing a new rom. Restoring data from different android version can cause such problem. Fresh install ur apps.
sent from my digital typewriter
I have same problem twice before this. (coz change custom rom )
I use SEPC. But ur battery must have atleast 50%.
If ur battery already 0% (can't on anymore), u must charge ur X8 by PC.
Becoz when u charge by charger, battery still 0%.
So, just plugin ur X8 at PC and wait 2-3 hour.
Then open SEPC and follow the step 1 by 1.
Just do this
Install pc companium
Take battery out of phone
Plug in usb cabel to pc and device
Then open pc companium select repair phone and wait to it says connect phone then put back battery, and hold back button until the install begin...
Dont forget to press thank button

Use SEUS
I know this is an old thread, but I was able to solve this issue yesterday. My symptom: the phone wouldn't start. It didn't even get to the Sony Ericsson logo. The only thing it did when I pressed the on/off button was vibrate.
In this state, all other suggestions here don't work, because they need a working phone. Even SE's PC Companion needs a working phone.
The solution is Sony Ericssons Update Service (SEUS). This is tricky, because SEUS is not an official download for this phone. However, if you go the SE's site and search for software for another non-android phone, you'll find it. I used the W910 phone.
Install it and just follow the instructions on the screen (basically, with the phone off, connect it to the USB cable while pressing the back key). It will install the official 2.1 android! You'll have a restored phone ready for 2.3 and beyond!
I tried Sony Ericsson PC Companion when my phone was stuck on bootscreen. In my case, a small dialog box came up in the right lower part of the screen which said "Your X8 is connected".
If this doesn't work; open PC Companion, klick on "Uppgrade your phone". Then choose "Restore your phone". Then follow the onscreen progress and your phone will be reseted and should work normaly.
Of course the phone has Android 2.1
Firstly, read other forum's, @Denoo start a new thread.
The easiest way is to unlock with SEUS. How?
1. Download SEUS http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilephones/downloads/subject/updateservice/elm?cc=hr&lc=hr (Click on download now, don't worry, it isn't just for Elm, it's for all phones)
2. Install & start SEUS and follow on-screen instructions - Turn off your phone, press and hold back button and put usb cabel in the phone (still pressing the back button), then when the download starts, stop pressing the back button.
3. When installation finishes, turn on your phone.
Note: On your phone is all data deleted after flashing this software. SEUS flashes original and clean firmwares, so you can still hold your warranty papers.
If SEUS update didn't work, then try flashing firmware with Flashtool. (Search in X8 Android development section this Guide).
Is der any easyer trik like nokia with trik 3 finggers .. ??

Use PCC to repair and restore your phone to original SE stock ROM!
1) Connect the phone to your PC
2) Start your PCC, find the "repair" option, follow the instructions
3) When asked to hold the "back" button and plug in the USB cable, just to it and it will flash the original ROM for you.
4) When finish, follow the instruction to unplug your phone and reboot
5) END OF THE STORY!
you will lose all your data!
I unplugged my phone when the flashtool told me to.
Now i can't boot my phone, can't even get to the SE logo.
I tried everything i could found.
SEUS, PCC <- neither worked.
As for flashing, same error, turn on unknown sources and debugging.
Help please..

Well tried everything.
I think it's in the 'press back button' mode, cause it automatically bypasses the pop up screen in flash tool.
I reinserted the battery several times as well. Same thing, vibrates continuously if i kept pressing the power button. Oh and the green led flashes when it's vibrating.

it seams you are in flash mode...
one time i manage to boot xrecovery from my bricked phone after many reboots, if you do it install rom from there.
also try from other pc, from other usb input on pc.
it dont sound like full brick... i think
try every thing even if you are sure it will fail.
But i can't see my SE logo.. I'm guessing that my screen is somehow corrupted?
Oh and i can't boot up at all.
The vibration and green led light comes up continuously if i kept on pressing the power button.
Do not worry... you just need to update your phone with Sony Ericsson's update service. If you had search the general section you could have found how to fix your phone... take a look at here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11934117&postcount=7
I think the best choice is flashtool.
You just download the original firmware that you want (1.6/1.6 chinese/2.0/2.1/2.1 chinese) and flash it directly.
Flashtool also has the advantage that you can flash the baseband (if you already have iton your PC) right after the firmware.

I saw from another thread that if the SD card was used for App2SD before, it can fuxk up the phone after falling back to stock rom.
Mind to take out the SD, or reformat it before start up the phone?
i think, you should retry SEUS method again. i bricked my phone last time and SEUS seems did not work for me. i tried for few time until somehow it works.

Hi all,
Try to help my brother here, he's not that proficient with tech, anyway, he did a software update, and official one, something to do with Lollipop and now his phone keeps restarting. Sometimes it's a boot loop, sometimes it turns on, you get the Sony screen, the powered by Android screen, you a wavy live wallpaper, then the wallpaper freezing and the phone turns off. Just as I type this it turned itself on again, and is going through the same process, wavy live wallpaper now. I've currently got the phone plugged in to charge, doesn't make a different.
He tried using the PC companion tool, or whatever Sony call it, but that did nothing. The SD has been removed so we know it's not that.
One time I got a popup saying "InitialBootSetup is failing to respond, would you like to close it or wait?". So yeah, things are screwed.
I've rooted and flashed things on my phone but not this phone, this phone in completely stock. What should be my next step? Will it even be recognised in adb in this state? Still on that wavy screen moving about, not frozen yet. The power of volume do not respond while this wavy wallpaper screen is going, phone cannot be turned off.
Would appreciate all help that is given, thanks!
Edit: From my understanding the phone was already on Lollipop, this was just an incremental update, possibly to 5.1 or 5.1.1. It's been dead for more than a week now, when he showed it to me today, the first thing it did was show the "Android is upgrading" thing then all of this started, that is no longer showing.

5.1 or latest hasn't been released yet, so that phone hasn't tried to upgrade to higher than 5.0.2 version. If flashmode is working you can give a try to flash stock .FTF
To enter flash mode, turn off your phone completely and wait at least 30 seconds.
After that, whilst holding Volume Down, plug in your phone in USB, LED indicator will flash once and your PC will recognize your phone (I suppose)
And you're free to go

Ok, you just made me confused 'cause you said you've fastboot and etc., anyway.
Just find any desired .FTF for LB here: HERE
For example, :THIS
After downloading .FTF you need to have flashtool by androxyde. After installing flashtool, put downloaded .FTF into /firmware(s) folder and run Flashtool(/x64).exe
Push the "Lightning" button and choose "Flashmode". Then choose the correct .FTF and check all the checkboxes (or choose what do you want to leave, for example, if you'll untick "DATA", your phone's data won't be touched at all). Then pop-up will come up and you don't need to follow at these instructions, you just have to plug in your phone in Flashmode and after you'll do that release the volume UP button and wait while flasher will end all the process.
And when you'll see "unknown sources has been.." or "flashing ended" you can turn on your phone. It could take up to 15 minutes to load.
By the way, it's recommended to have at least 70% of your battery otherwise you can brick/soft-brick your device.
Good luck!

ANDROID EXPERT NEEDED TO REPAIR BRICKED PHONE
Anyone in my area know how to fix a soft bricked Android phone? I have a Sony Xperia Z3 compact that is not responsive and I've tried everything and scoured the internet, mostly XDA, on how to get it back. I was trying to flash the Sony Concept Marshmallow ROM with the Boot and OTA, per the instructions in the thread. I wiped my device, flashed ROM, Boot, and OTA. Then I rebooted my device and then nothing, but a black screen and no response from the phone. It does not boot up or turn on. The screen does not flicker or anything. I can hold volume down and power and it will vibrate, but still nothing on the device. I can hold volume up and plug in the device and it will show me the blue led that it is connected to fast boot, but I cannot seem to do anything with it at that point. My computer does recognize it, but I can't figure out what to do from there with Flashtool or any other software.
If you are available where we can meet up that would be fantastic. I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

I think you phone isn't really bricked Try this, maybe it will help:
1. Download newest flashtool
2. Download proper .ftf file from the general section
3. Launch flashtool, plug your phone while holding vol down and wait until the drivers install. Unplug the phone after the drivers install.
4. Click a small thunder-shaped button in flashtool
5. Navigate to a folder with your .ftf file
6. You will see a menu where you can select what to flash and what not to flash. You might want to have everything from the top right window selected (data, cache, apps log will be wiped) and everything from the window below NOT selected (everything will be flashed). Click flash and wait for the files to be prepared.
7. You will see a window with the instructions how the phone should be plugged to a computer. Again, plug the phone while holding vol down, the LED will flash green.
8. Wait for the files to be flashed. If you get any error, try the flashing again after restarting flashtool. If you still get errors, reboot the computer and try again.
I hope this will work and instructions are not messed up but clear to you, I wrote them quickly.

Thank you and these instructions are clear. I have tried all this, but the issue is the Phone isn't recognized properly.
And my Flash tool isn't recognizing .ftf files.
Not sure if this will help ... but in your situation guess one is willing to try anything
Try using Flashtool 0.9.10.2beta6 - this version doesnt require USB Debugging to be turned on - which may be the reason the phone isnt recognized properly???
Looks like your boot.img have gone
Now download stock rom and flash only the boot.img,it may work
Good luck
I had something of a similar issue very recently where flashtool wouldn't do it after i had by stupid mistake wiped EVERYTHING.. I think i had lost boot.img. On startup i would get the very first Sony Xperia screen and then nothing else.
After kicking around a few threads for information i downloaded an older version of flashtool, 0.9.18.5, flashed a complete stock rom with that and all was well.

Hmmm.......curious and you have my sympathy.
Did you have any joy at all with an older version of flashtool? From what i have read around the place if you are getting ANY response from the phone at all in terms of the LED or vibration when power and vol up or down pressed then all is NOT lost. Seems it may be a matter of finding the right combinations of tools and ftf files .
When i was mucking around trying to resurrect mine i did have to install drivers (from the directory in flashtool) more than once as i tried different combinations. Was using my Win7 machine at work rather than my Win10 home PC.
good luck. Will be interested to see the outcome of this as any fix is good to know about.

Hi everyone
So just to let you guys know i have also searched the internet for what i am about to ask you.Including this site.I have had many good pages on this website to try and help with my problem. But sadly with no luck,my issue was different.so that when i decided to finally create an account to get some help and hopefully help others too!(which i doubt). So now to my problem.I have a sony xperia Z1 and had rooted it using the king root app and then used the command to replace with super user. All was well and good until i tried to do duel recovery.i feel thats where i mustve messsed up.I am sure my boot loader is locked but the file i used was a version that worked with a locked bootloader.so i installed it via connecting my phone to the usb and use some software to install.Sorry i thing i must have forgot what i used.Hopefully that is not important.all went well and when my phone restarted it went staright to twrp.I decied to wipe cache and data inc internal and dalvic cache. But when i restared all i got was the sony logo frozed.Nothing would happen.i would try entering recovery mode or flashing mode or what ever you call it by pressing vol up and power. All this does it makes my phone vibarate 3 times but thats not the prob;em as normally i would presume the phone is off but no its not as when i put it on charge it comes on with the logo and all.but when i connect to my pc to try and reflash nothing.i have tried using xperia flash tool but when i follow the instructions nothing happens.and to be fair i dont even know wif i followed them righ as for all i know my phone could be off.i attempted pc companion to try and sort it out but it dosnt give me an option to reflash.only upgrade and when i do press that it says i must remove my battery and sim but i cant.i am worried if i leave it on charge it will turn really hot cuz thats what i done for like an hour and it was extremly hot.Any help would be greatly appreciated!
