Telephony completly broken - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
First, i'd like to apologize for my poor english but i'll tried to be as clear as possible.
I've received yesterday my One who was bought in a P4U store in London (sim free) and i intend to use it in France.
I've played with the "smartphone part" (emails, apps, internet, camera, etc.) and everything i working wonderfully.
But when i want to call someone or get called, everything is going crazy
When i try to call, i don't hear the tone and once my correspondant take the acll, i don't hear him and he don't hear me.... when they try to call me, i see the incoming call but when i press the button to take the call, i don't hear anything and my correspondant as well.
Even worse (yes it's possible), when it want to cut the communication and i press the "end call" key, the phone doesn't cut it immediatly and it send it in the notification bar (as if i had pressed the Home button)... at this moment, the whole phone becomes sluggish and then i have a system popup who ask me to wait a little or kill the app and send a report to HTC....
What i have tried to get around this problem :
- Trying others SIM cards (even with others carriers)... same problem,
- Completly restore the phone... same problem,
- Tried different carriers at the initial startup... same problem.
- I've tried to use the dictaphone app and to listen music to see if it wasn't a hardware problem but both the microphone and the speakers are working perfectly.
- The strange thing is that i'm correctly connected to the network because i have 3G icon, i can download things in 3g or HSPA and i can send the call or get called.
So, i'm really stuck now... the only thing i think of before calling HTC is to find the Stock ROM, completly erase the phone and install the stock ROM on it...
Any other ideas ?

It's the software as it was when you bought it or have you flashed something else into the phone ?
If you are still on the original software I would backup and reset the phone and if that still does not work it sounds faulty and you need to return it to p4u
Good luck

Yes it's the original software and i haven't flashed anything... i've tried the hardware reset but still the same problem... that's why i wanted to find the original ROM because i think that the one in my terminal is faulty

Don't flash anything take it back to p4u for replacement . If you flash you may cause more issues as you would need to s off and p4u may not replace the phone
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium

Ok so you mean i need to s-off even just trying to replace the Original ROM by another Original ROM ? (which i haven't found anyway)
In fact, i assume that i just need to replace the Phone.app (i suppose it's this kind of name) to test if my problem comes from the software... everything else works like a charm so i'm in dire need to replace the telephony software on this phone :crying:

I advise you to return it to p4u for an exchange.
Je te conseille de le retourner à la boutique pour un échange.
Cheers

Definately take it back to P4U for an exchange. . . they should do it on the spot. . . or are you back in france already? If so, u maye need to get hold of HTC. . . if not, get back to P4U before you go back to france.

Yep, i'm in france now
That won't be easy to exchange my device now... i'm waiting for HTC's support advice and depending on what they say, i'll try to find a way to replace this Phone.apk which i'm sure is causing problems....

Hi! Base on your explanation seems like it is a software issue. Have you tried reflashing a newer firmware on the phone? Restoring to factory default would just wipe the data partition but the system apps would remain untouched. I am thinking the issue might be cause by corrupt files that happened when HTC is flashing the firmware to the phone itself. Doesn't really look like hardware problem to me.

Yes Riyal, i'm thinking exactly like you but i haven't found a way to do it properly... and i'm still waiting for the answer of HTC support as they don't know at the moment if they can fix it or if they must exchange it.

Huge sound problems. Expert help wanted.

OK guys, here’s the deal… I have a big problem with my MDA Compact IV (T-mobile’s version of the HTC Diamond). As it is a simlock free device, I’m using my Vodafone sim card. I hope one of you experts can help! I’ve been through just about the entire internet and this forum and found that there are more people with the same problem, but I haven’t found a working solution yet.
What happened:
- I got my MDA, didn’t like the T-mobile branding so before even using the phone with the original software, I’ve upgraded to SPL-1.40.OliNex, Radio 1.00.25.05 and the original HTC Touch Diamond 1.93.404.1 Dutch Stock ROM.
- I also installed a few programs like Klaxon, Tomtom 7 and S2U2.
- After a few hours of playing with my device I noticed that there were some problems with the sound. When I receive a call there is no sound, when I answer the call the caller can’t hear me and I can’t hear him. Same problem when I make a call myself. None of the systems sounds work. This can only be solved after soft reset.
- These sound problems occur completely random. Sometimes it works for hours and sometimes just minutes after the reset.
What I’ve done to try to solve the problem:
- I de-installed all the programs, but did not fix the problem.
- I went over all the sound settings, but did not find anything wrong.
- I did a hard reset, but this didn’t solve anything.
- I returned to the original t-mobile stock ROM. This also wasn’t the solution.
I’m getting quite desperate here. I love the phone, it’s looks and possibilities, but it’s a real problem if you can’t even use it to make and receive calls. I still see that as a basic function when you buy a phone
EDIT: OK guys, finally after nine weeks of waiting, calling and emailing the repair center, I got my device back and what do you think....? Problem fixed! It turned out to be a hardware problem. I don't know exactly what they did, but my phone works just fine now. I reflashed to the AZTOR NLD ROM and now I'm the proud owner of a working phone! Big thanks for all of your support!
Reinstall the stock SPL and stock ROM and take it back under warranty - sounds like a hardware issue to me. I haven't read about anyone else with this problem and since you seem to have already tried most software related fixes I'd start looking at the hardware. Just wait until you lose sound one day and then take it back so they can see the problem first hand! I can't see anyone arguing with that.
I had the some problem, only once, and it was because of installing some cabs (I don't remember which ones, though). The speaker didn't work at all.
I suggest that you put a new lite firmware (Swift works great to me!) and try for some time
Well I've had the same problem and apparently UK Orange know that its a hardware fault and are replacing my handset tomorrow.
I've tried every rom going and every radio going and still had the problem which definately suggests its hardware fault.
If you can I'd return it to your sim provider and get a replacement.
Still no solution
I just returned the phone to the shop. I'll keep you posted...
I had the same issue, returned it to the shop.
They will swap it with another one since it's a hardware fault.
Same problem. I send back Diamond to HTC.
I hope that they'll change it with another without problem.
I had the same problem with one of the early unbranded Diamonds. HTC Europe replaced it as being a sort of DOA (dead on arrival) without any restriction. It took some weeks but all ended well!

No carrier and reboots

Need help!
My diamond searches for carrier, but can not find it. Whan i manually select the network, it shows all available, but when it select one, it sais "no signal". When I try to call, it sometimes reboots. On some roms it reboots in a loop, showing htc animation. Without a sim card it works fine. No reboots.
Phone is shure GSM/3G, and it is sim unlocked.
I set up HardSPL, I flashed different radio versions, and roms as writen here. Nothing works. Any suggestions how to make it work?
have the same problem too here man, running t mobile. have tried a whole lot of roms and radios but no luck. I have gotten rid of the restarting problem now but it just cant find a signal to my network, im about to just give up and send it back in
Some more details on the issue.
It works fine, when I plug it into the charge.
Sometimes I can call when it`s plugged into my PC USB.
Doesn`t work without any external power.
A local service center (not HTC) said, the "gsm-radio module" is broken (hardware), and they don’t have any to replace it. They may replace it, if I find the analog.
Does anyone know, which "gsm-radio module" is used in diamond, and are there any other phones (Samsung, nokia ...) with the module, that will fit in diamond?
Does the official htc service repair the phones, if there is no guarantee?
Please help me someone
ya i get a signal too when its in the charger, but still get many dropped calls. it sucks that so few people have this problem and there has yet to be a solution to it. I think im just going to send it back to htc to get it fixed as it does not seem to be a software issue.
I've also recently started having this problem. Mine seems to work fine if it's at 80%+ charge, but as soon as it drops below, it has problems connecting to the carrier.
I've emailed HTC a couple days ago, but haven't heard back from them.
EDIT: Want to add that I'm on 1.93.831.1 WWE ROM and 1.08.25.20 Radio.
I don't have the restarting problem, but I do have a "fake" reception problem where it'll show that I'm connected and have signal, but I won't be able to make or receive calls.
Bumping this thread to see if there's been any progress with this issue.
HTC STILL hasn't replied to my queries. I've since sent another one and haven't gotten a response. Their customer service really is terrible.
same problem here :/

[SOLVED][Q] One has lost signal and settings

Hey all I have rooted and S-off with moonshine and flashed This Rom to my Sprint Htc One. I then programmed it to work with page plus cellular, in which it was working great for about 3 days. I had gotten a text around 3:30AM & when I woke up the phone had NO signal, service, or data! Upon further examinations, I found that my settings to adjust the roaming features was GONE! The ESN checked out clear thru Sprint so I'm not worried about the phone being shut off or anything. Could this be an H-boot issue or what? I have since reinstalled the mentioned rom above but my settings are still gone. The pull down menu shows the Airplane mode to be on but it is NOT on anywhere else and I can't turn it off in the pull down menu. I hope this is my problem but I really need to know how to resolve it. I've tried to do a screenshot of the pull down menu but it grabs the home screen.
EDIT: I have resolved my issue. When I originally programmed my phone, I left the sim card from sprint in the phone and went with page plus. Evidently, with the sim in place, sprint was able to change some settings to shut off my radio. I found out thru sprint that the phone was activated on july 21st & deactivated on july 22nd. This gave them about 12 days to shut off my radio after deactivation. I went into cdmaws and found what they had changed, switched it back for a working radio again.

I will give this a try and here is a screenshot.. As you see the wifi still works but the radio has been disabled.
Edit: I completed the RUU and still have NO cell radio, wifi works fine. I've only had this phone 3 days before it stopped working and NEVER dropped it or abused it. I have read posts where some folks had the antenna wire come off but I'm thinking this is just what sprint is telling people. I don't see where there would be enough room inside the ONE for the wire to just "Fall Off"!
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Well I still have an Ipod like Htc One! No luck yet on restoring the cell radio and I'm kind of lost where to go from here. I'm guessing if the antenna wire came off, there would be no settings for roaming so I'll take it apart to see if that's the problem.
Help with NV items
I have tried every ruu and even went back to the 1.44 hboot to let my phone update itself to android 4.3. When I do the factory reset, my nv settings stay just as I programmed it to page plus. What I need is for someone to send me a copy of their NV items read thru cdmaws paid version or qpst, any means you have to read Please? I don't need or want any imsi or meid or personal info, just the nv items from a working phone. I'm really beginning to think that my phone needs to be replaced but I bought it from ebay and am not a sprint customer. If anyone knows how I could go about getting this replaced thru htc Please let me know but I would like to try the nv items first. If I messed up the phone then I'll fix it but I really think I have a hardware issue, otherwise I'd never think about a warranty.
Just out of curiosity, when you flashed the software to your phone and you lost your signal and settings, did the baseband on the phone show as "Unknown"? I get that from time to time, either due to incompatible software or a bad flash.
The phone actually worked great for about 3 dats and the baseband was and still is showing. I feel that I may need to send it in for warranty but I'd like to have the original nv items to flash first to see if my cell radio will work. The wifi works fine and I can change the radio in *#*#4636#*#* to anything I wish but that still doesn't give me reception. I've been flashing phones for 3 or 4 years & have seen the baseband show up as unknown but I've never lost cell radio until now. :crying:
" I don't see where there would be enough room inside the ONE for the wire to just "Fall Off"! "
Well it actually can. Not fall off literally but rather disconnect from its socket. This has actually been an issue with the HTC OneX's wifi antenna also.. If u check out this guide: http://www.slashgear.com/htc-one-teardown-proves-durability-a-top-priority-28275687/ you will see the black cable that goes from top to bottom and connects two pcbs. That's your culprit if indeed you have a hardware issue. What i would do if i were you is first find one of my carrier's antennae and go as close to it as possible and see if you get any reception at all (best chance i guess is in a subway station). I guess that once you're that close to a transmitter your circuitboard is sufficient antenna though i might be wrong. If i am right and you get reception than its hardware. If you dont get reception than the cause is uncertain..can be hardware, can be software.. Anyway, i wish you best of luck with fixing your problem!
Cheers!
Wish me luck, today I'm headed to the sprint store to see if the tech can find anything out for me.
Edit: No such luck! The guy told me that when the phone was deactivated thru sprint that the radio was shut down and if I got a contract to activate the phone, then it would work! Hmm I didn't buy that so I told him I programmed it to page plus which worked for a while & bla bla bla... No go. Does anyone know how or if I could send it back to HTC for repair?

Cant call or Recieve calls on HTC ONE Please help

Hello everyone,
Been using my HTC One on 4.2.2 (STOCK) with no issues until suddenly two days, I could not make calls or receive calls nor send or receive text messages.
I called T-mobile technical team and complained but simcard seems to be working fine, I took out my t-mobile simcard into my iPhone and it worked perfectly no issues.
I went ahead to buy different networks simcards Three UK & 02 tried it both on my htc but still the same no signal or network, so its definitely something wrong somewhere on my HTC one.
All simcards bought and including my T-mobile simcard worked well on the iphone and not the HTC.
Which i find very strange before this happened my HTC has been working fine, please the tech geeks in the forum help me out. Has anyone encountered this problem and how did you fix it?
What I have done so far:
I have restarted or rebooted my HTC one.
I have reset and wiped my HTC to factory settings
I have done a soft reset
still no luck, I need help guys.
Everything works fine I just dont have network signal to make calls/receive/send or receive text messages, I noticed on the upright coner where the signal strength is there is an 'X' symbol included a screenshot.
Please help

Okay they should be able to run technical support for you and exchange it if there is still warranty. Don't know how Tmobile UK works but that's how it works here in the states.

I bought it off a friend which it does not have warranty, I tried flashing custom rom thinking this might solved the problem. I successfully unlocked the bootloader installed TWRP but I cant view my folders :crying:
Its says internal memory 0mb I read somewhere online to mount my sdcard I tried mounting it but it says unable to mount partition, I tried wiping cache none of this worked am stuck with stock.
Right now can anyone tell me how to fix this problem am having with TWRP cant view my sdcard folder, I want to flash official firmware 4.2.2. or flash a custom rom on the HTC one.
Please assist
I finally fixed the unable to mount sdcard issue with TWRP I guess the twrp I installed was faulty I made use of Hasson2000 v3.1 Tool kit it fixed it :fingers-crossed:
Now am back to square one flashing custom rom to fix my issue of unable to make or receive calls or text message, can anyone help with a direct link on this forum on How to flash Custom rom on HTC one S-ON ?
So far I have unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP 2.6.0, I know there alot of them on this forum but a noobie guide will be great thanks.
Just ad update: I have flashed Viperrom 2.6.0 now my HTC One has network and signal but I cant still make or receive calls what is really going on with HTC ONE m7?
Please if anyone has experienced this and fixed it please how did you fix this issue?
sme problem
I have exactly the same problem ice flashed new firmwares and new radios it's got me stumped
Dialer glitch / can't make calls
I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but when attempting to call someone from the stock phone dialer, I am unable to call. The phone will decide to call maybe 10-15 seconds later even if I have locked my phone. Apparently there is a bug with Skype that causes the phone to act funny when attempting to call. I had the same issue, and after ensuring the Skype service isn't running, and I am logged out of Skype, my phone dialer is no longer glitching. Worth a try before flashing, resetting phone?
You could also try completely removing skype, and all the files associated with it from your phone.

Help needed! new phone - mobile data issues

I finally decided to upgrade from my Nexus 4 to a Z1, and I moved my Three UK contract SIM into the new Z1, it installed the internet & MMS settings and it was fine. But all of a sudden completely random the speeds will drop, the ping will go into the 800s and I can't really load anything on my device.
I'm really not sure what the issue is, whether it's a problem with the drivers, a problem with the actual antenna or if it's just an issue with the software.
I've just tried a factory reset and I'm still getting the same issues, it will be fine most of the time and then just deteriorate until I just can't load anything. The only thing that seems to fix this is a reboot or turning off mobile data and turning it back on again. Obviously this isn't acceptable when I've just paid this amount of money for the phone.
Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to flash another ROM in case I do actually send it back because won't it void the warranty? If not, how do I go back to stock if I have flashed another ROM?
When putting the SIM back in my Nexus 4, there's no issues at all as there wasn't when I used it before.
I'm really lost, I love this phone but it seems I may have to send it back... Help appreciated!
Contact Call Center of your Provider an tell them to give you the right settings for internet and mms, the settings installed automatically on Z1 not always work. They will send you an sms with the installation. I had similar problem solved with the sms.
