After downloading an app from the market (cant remember the name of it)..
It rebooted itself and now the phone wont reboot.
It comes up with the Galaxy S I9000 logo and everything but go into my main screen
It continues to vibrate and the screen stays all black.
The lights on the 'back' on the left and the 'menu' panel on the left has its lights on but it just vibrates as if its force closing and wont boot...
Tried system reboot by holding down the keys and tries reboot but wont reboot...
Any ideas????
My phone has been rooted so im guessing that the warranty on the phone wont apply??
Other people from other forums advised that it would be a good idea for me to install a different ROM but Im not too good with these things so I dont know what it means, also having trouble understanding how it can be done when I cant access th main screen of my phone?
Please help

Hmm you first need to open odin on ur pc and then get your phone in download mode and then connect it via usb.
Well there are many other threads in the android development department search there and you may find it.
Cheers!

you'll need odin (i recommend version 1.7) but if I remember correctly it's included in the download with darkyys rom

I'm able to put my phone into download mode by holding down on the volume and power then putting the battery into the phone. Hopefully that helps.

I cant help. I have no idea how you got your phone in the state it is in and Im not even sure that I know what state that is. You gotta do a little more than tell us that your phone is broken.
was the first time I went to install a rom for this phone, I did very well already and done with other phones of the same. I installed everything right good! but I for stupid, will install a rom 2.3.5, but not the bootloader girnderbread install it, when I restart the phone is left alone in att restarts and stays in att, then try to enter download mode and I can not
if anyone can help I would appreciate thanks

I bought one of these a long time ago when I soft bricked my phone (went to the ATT screen and then just rebooted over and over) and it worked great cause I couldnt get in download mode either!
Just plug it in your charger/usb port on the phone and bam, your in download mode!

did you get it sorted? i had to flash teh 3-button combo fix after messing around with gb roms...
Hello guys.
I flashed the galaxy S on Odin with no files attached.
Now the phone will not respond at all. I have tried everything but, there is no lights or reaction as ever. Is this fixable?
I have ordered a JIG but i doent have to much expectations.
Regards Morten
It doesn't even turn on? Try taking the battery out for a few minutes.
Yes thats correct. It happend after flash.
Starting to think if the battery stopped working.
There is no sign of life at all.
The battery was fully charged.
Have tried your suggestion. With no luck.
Edit: Hmm, i have tested the battery now and it shows 4 volt between + and -.
So that shouldnt be the problem.

Yes I know it was stupid. I had a PIT file connected.
And didnt know what i was doing. I couldnt dream of
the program would flash over bootloader.
But i learned and have to pay the price for it.
You can fix it with usb Jig or there is a tutorial for Captive that you can use on your phone and put it in download mode. I think for that you jave to install linux, hemindail and java. Also, you will need to install android sdk for adb reboot recovery command Search the forum, the fix is already there

Take out battery and hold 3 button combo for download mode. Than insert battery and it should throw u to downloading.
How is it possible to flash nothing? Doesn't odin warn you if you got "nothing"?
Should be fixed in next ver.
Download Mode "bricked"
Hi,
My Download Mode is working (3 buttons function), but the Win7 isn`t recognizing as Odin...(I`ve already tried to resolve USB drivers troubles but I think that is not the right option...other Samsung Androids are working weel)
So I am not able to flash anything trough Odin...and the CWM 3.0 show me many "E: unknown moun/ storage"...it`s impossible to restore or install an update.zip for example.
What can I do?
Hi guys I have a big problem. Just when I was switching the battery of my note with a charged one, as usually every night, when I turnes on the phone it started on provisional mode (modalità provvisoria in Italian). I turnes it off and on again and now many apps and widget have disappeared. I suspect that my internal memory is inaccesible or it has broken, but how is it possible? And most of all, how can I try to recover it? I tried changing battery and turning the phone off and on again but it's all the same. I think only the apps.and widgets installed on the main memory appear. The others aren't there! I don't have any micro sd and I have never rooted the phone, so what I have is a stock rom. Please help me! Thanks.

it seems, your device was booted on safe Mode
Solution is just to restart.

I dint know that Linux has a safe mode. What exactly happens here? Is it similar to window's safe mode?
It can happen accidently, N if i remember correctly it happens when -
Device is restarting and if you tap menu button few times, it enters in safe mode, you can read ' safe mode' at Lt lower part of screen, widgets gets disappeared from screen, some fuctions dont works. but just restarting device manage to put back in normal state.
Hello!
I have a problem, and don't know how to solve it... I am using JB Alliance ROM, and everything worked great, until I uninstalled iGO. Actually the uninstallation was successful, but right after that, I went to My Files, and I deleted the iGO folder and my phone froze. I kept the power button pressed to make a simple reset, and after that it went to a boot loop. I tried to go into recovery mode holding vol up + menu + power buttons, and from that point on I have only black screen, even when I tried to charge it. At that point, my battery was about 80%, but I guess this doesn't matter.
I read something about these problems, but I am not sure which is actually my device's problem.
Can anyone help me to solve this? I have a JIG, but I used it only to get rid of the yellow triangle a few months ago...
Thanks a lot!
Rasvan
Try going to download mod and flash stock GB or ICS rom using PC Odin
Thanks for the reply! I tried also this, but the phone still looks dead... I mean I can't go into Download mode even after I pulled the battery out for a few seconds.
Use jig and go to download mod.
btw dr. ketan is an expert .. pls pm him and ask help..

you cant get into recovery?
no... not even with the JIG. I guess the only option is to take it to a samsung service.
try this and if not working then only go to service center
