How long have you waited for the red led to turn on? Sometimes a few hours is necessary

It's weird, just Sony determines that!
I flashed ElementalX (been a long time since I've OC'd) and now I can't get past the HTC screen. I hold down the power button and it just blinks to no end. This is why I like removable batteries. Do I have to wait until it dies or what?
Try holding down vol down then power let it blink until it reboots

Did that and let it blink over 100 times (counted). Nothing.
Try holding the phone under a bright light and vol down power

Can't believe that actually worked. Someone on Reddit told me to so I did. I thought that was for people who had problems in a call or something...
Thank you.

try holding down the power button until the home and back button flash 15 times then let go of the power button, then press and hold the power button again and wait for the home and back button to flash again and it should shut the phone off. then you can hold the power and vol. down to boot into recovery. this happened to me and thats what worked for me. hope this helps

My understanding is that sometimes, the light sensor gets tricked into thinking the phone is in a pocket/covered and locks the screen off as a result. Seems a little odd, but then again I've never had this kind of issue with any other device I've owned, and it seems reasonable enough to believe.
Is Elemental a Sense-based kernel though? This issue has mainly been cropping up on AOSP ROMs/kernels (which forced me to revert to a Sense 4.1 ROM. )

wow i can't believe that did it, thank you! thought i was screwed. tried all combinations of holding power/vol+/vol-... whispering pleadingly to it... sure enough holding the #$%^& thing up to a bright light and vol- plus power did the trick. :good:
About a week ago, my One got VERY hot, too hot to hold, I wasn't doing anything, it was just in my pocket on standby, I turned it off to let it cool down, I left it while I was at work, and it wouldn't turn back on when I finished, so I stuck it on charge, and the charging LED doesn't come on, I've left it on charge overnight just incase and no luck, it wont turn on or charge, any ideas? thanks
Edit: I've tried every combination of buttons imaginable

i have a solution.... i also had that problem
the thing is you battery is empty
just connect the charger for 10 min then then use for shutdown (volume up + power )
then after some time your phone will start to boot normally

Have you tried the reset button, besides the SIM&SDCard slots?
Clicking it will shake the mobile once and reset, doing a 5 seconds long press it will maybe perhaps shake it thrice and have a nice ultra mega plus blaster reset. :cyclops:

khamees_xi, is your phone under warranty still?
Sounds like a dead battery, had a similair thing with my Xperia S, it was covered under warranty
And keep in mind if it's not covered under warranty it still won't be a expensive repair if it's battery related compared to a display replacement(nightmare).

its not your last hope,
you still have the DIY option:
open the back plate (see the Xperia Z Screen Replacement video in youtube on how to, just need the initial 3 steps),
try to disconnect the battery flex cable, then plug the usb cable to pc, if it enters fastboot, then battery is not flat, ITS DEAD.
order a replacement battery and order the Xperia Z Waterproof adhessive.
FIRST TRY TO GET WARRANTY xD its way better!!
I had this problem already, about 1 weeks ago. Same condition that you are describe before.
I just use my PC companion and then the problem fixed :victory:

hahaha I told ya I tried every possible solutions but all of them failed
@wwaleed.. it happened for me a time ago in Xperia S ,and it's fixed by a silly answer found in forumforpages.com
first.. remove your SIM Card and then plug in the charger and once the red light appears ,disconnect it and do the same for 5-6 times continuously ,and the 7th plug it in and leave it for 5-10 minutes.. if the LED color changed to green/blue (whatever) ,try holding the power button to boot the phone.
i know it feels silly.. but it worked for me after update failure ,just give it a try before sending it to warranty

Last night I turned my phone off to save battery, as my Nexus 7 was using my charger. Bear in mind it was turned off at about 80-90% battery. Woke up this morning and wanted to check social networks etc. but it didn't turn on. No vibrations, no LED.
