Questions about ROMs and bootloaders

1. I am currently on Gingerbread bootloader. What is the easiest way to go to ICS bootloader?
2. Is there any Jelly Bean ROM which has working HDMI?
3. Does official CM10 and CM10.1 only work with GB bootloader?
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
1. Read instructions carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975274 use this tool to flash new bootloader.
2. Not sure, but I've not heard anyone complaining that it wasn't working.
3. If you've had a look around the dev section, you'll see that there are now several CM10/.1 roms working with the new bootloader, with less problems apparently.
- if you choose to use CM10/.1 roms on new bootloader you'll have to follow these instructions to make the recovery compatible with CM10 based roms (without this special recovery CM10 roms will freeze on boot) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058231
I woud say the easiest way to get the ICS Bootloader is through the AIO Toolkit here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
The toolkit guides you through each step.
Hope this helps!

Yeah, choose option 4 - Change Partitions from OLD to NEW layout
and then don't forget to flash an ICS bootloader recovery (but I think the toolkit tells you about that)
And if your sd card is unmountable just flash the file IntSD-Mount-Fix.zip available somewhere on the toolkit.
Then just flash a ROM for ICS bootloader from recovery as usual !

Upgrading to v20a question

So seeing as to how the jellybean discussion thread exploded over the last few days it's been very hard to follow what's been going on. Also, I know I'm not the only one with this question so he goes.
1) How do I upgrade from regular stock ics to jellybean v20a? I have v10d and I have cwm installed+ root if that matters. My phone firmware is from Taiwan as well.
2) After installing jellybean, how do I unlock the bootloader and root my 4x?

Use this method for rooting. Easiest so far. THough you need to install BusyBox Yourself

Don't think you'll get an answer as this question has been asked countless times.
As of last month, you don't need to unlock the bootloader to get root on 4.3
But you need to downgrade to 4.1.2 (257) and root using doomlord's exploit. Then install recovery. After that choose a rom of your choice (based on the latest .266 or .201).
For noob's infor:
a. the downgrade is necessary as you need root and doomlord's exploit for rooting works only up to version .257.
b. rooting is simply needed so that you can install recovery (CWM is good)
c. after which all will be wiped out by the new rom which will be flashed with its recovery and root :good:
And before you ask where these files are: search in the various forum, notably "android development" and "General" sections

You'll need flashtool to flash .254 (full firmware). Note that flashtool will only work if all the drivers are installed in your computer (there is an installer inside flashtool directory, after installation - double click on that to install the drivers)
Hunt around for the .254 ftf and .257 (kernel only) if you can't locate it in the link I gave you.
[The .254 in the link is "kernel" only - you want the full firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964)
The link to cwm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649923 but I prefer this one (simpler): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444605

[Q] Stock image (.761) with full root - but no CWM - wanted

Hi
I'm a newbie here. I have trawled thru 100's of posts in here and elsewhere. What I seek is a stock 14.3.A.0.761 ROM with stock kernel and full root. I know there's a recipe for creating custom ROMS, however those include a CWM, which I don't want, since a recovery means you can't relock the boot loader (or so I've been led to believe browsing around on the net and in here *S*).
So: Can anyone make that with a stock NCB 6903 ROM?
Also - to PhilZ and other geniouses/superheros in here - is it possible to make a temporary ADVANCED recovery which includes gives full (or close to full) root + contain the AROMA file browser?
/Dan
You trawled thru posts here, there and elsewhere and now what? You don't know a bit as you was nowhere and you did not read carefully because if you will do that, you also will know that there is not .761 rooted as the developers do not bother about a 1,8 MB update from .757 as it means they have to remake a whole ROM of 1GB just for 1,8MB.
The latest Stock Pre-Rooted ROM it's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711982
To get to that Pre-Rooted (full Root) Stock ROM you have to do 3 steps, Downgrade to .534, Install lates Dualrecovery then follow the instructions from the link I posted from the line How To Update to .757
All for Locked Bootloader.
About Recovery, the recovery have 3 type of recoveries implemented, CWM, Philz and TWRP, I recommend TWRP for everything you do and forget CWM even if is there.
Doing Root your warranty will not be voided. There is no other way to get Full Root on your Phone and nobody will change stuff as you like.
Just do like I said and have a nice time with your Z1.
---------- Post added at 12:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 AM ----------
I find something what will interest you as you looking for NCB.
This should be Pre-Rooted Files to .761.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53036866&postcount=58
Follow the same steps of installation like on NUT thread form the Line How to Update.
Having a recovery does not stop you Relocking the bootloader. I don't know where you have read that, I have not read that anywhere and is completely untrue
EDIT
As you have said, there are instructions to make your own 761 pre rooted rom. Just follow those. If you do not want to include recovery then don't put those files in the system folder. But it will not stop you relocking the bootloader.
But wait, if you want to relock your bootloader, that implies its unlocked already, yes?
If so, why do you need a pre-rooted 761 ROM, just update to 761, then unlock your bootloader and root the phone. Done!

[HOW TO] Network SIM Lock issue and Android version Downgrading

After suffering several times by sim network lock issue and an extensive search to find out right procedures out of XDA and their application each time, I decided to keep a thread dedicated for this issue and my experince about it.
Two methods are given. Method 1 (probably) worked in past, but did not when I faced the lock issue yesterday when I tried to update my OS to recent version. I was getting bootloop after firmware flashing. If anyone follows method 1 and faces same, then apply method 2.
Method 1:
1) Flash a kitkat rom (from our device's thread)
2) Flash a JB 4.3 rom. (I used stock release). Follow this method to downgrade to JB from Kitkat
3) Then flash stock JB 4.1.1 using the same technique above.
4) Use the instructions in quote here or use this pictorial version here.
5) Sim wil become unlocked.
6) Change/Update your OS if you wish.
Method 2:
1) Flash stock kitkat rom
2) Flash a custom 4.1.1 (I have used one from here) right upon kitkat
3) Step 4, 5 and 6 From Method 1.
Credits:
@qasim799 for clearing downgrade process
@LucasBass for quoting the unlocking procedure,
@pcwiztech for mentioning the custom JB rom,
@fs71gh for his hard work to compile all these info together in one thread, kidding
Where is there a stock 4.4 KitKat rom for this phone? I thought the last official f/w for the I9300 was 4.3?
I've looked everywhere including the SAM website but can't find a copy. Can you link to the stock 4.4 f/w please OP?
