Blue lines on screen with reflection - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All,
I notice when there is a lot of reflection in my screen that I could see blue lines crossing from top to bottom (not sure if you can understand me).
It's more noticable when the screen is receiving a lot of light from the sun and screen is black.
Have somebody found the same issue? I can't make a picture because they are not seen.
I'm thinking to go to Vodafone and ask for a new phone or double check it with another one.
Regards,
Jordi

It is normal. The lines are the screen edges. They can be seen at the top, bottom, left and right edges of the screen when it is off.

You must be lucky then! If my guess is right it should be the oleophobic coating on the screen. And as you stated that you can see them that must only mean it was applied thicker than normal. Which means you won't likely run into fingerprint trouble anytime soon.

I have no idea what this means. Do you mean you can see lines on the screen edges or do you see blocks of little strips going from top to bottom? The first one is just the lamination of the screen, the second is just the touch sensor beneath the glass.

The lines are going from left to right through all screen (top to bottom).
It's hard to explain but if you play a little with the screen when is receiving the sun or there is a lot of light easy to see them.
For sure there is something applied more than normal or an issue screen process.
Just wanted to check if sonebody has the same issue or no as i dont have any other person to compare.
Thanks

Yes, that is the touch panel. Normal and unavoidable. HTC needs to go with in-cell touch to get rid of it. Even then, it might still be there.

I was surprised as i have other HTC phones like the Sensation, Touch Pro 2 and no lines shown.
Thanks for your help

[Q] Green Line along the edge of the screen?

hmm, after a month of usage, just today i noticed a very thin green line along the left side of the screen, only(mostly) visible on white color background...I did alot of surfing today which of course the browser and the sites mostly have white background, maybe thats why i noticed it today and not before...
anyways, its only on the left side of the screen and looks like it is at the just beginning of the pixels and its very hard to see,but it is there...
i did a very little net search and it says it is normal due to our screen matrix, but im asking just to be sure
thx
Doesn't sound normal to me. Any chance of a pic? I'd recommend taking it for repairs before it gets any worse.

after some research on this forum i got this from a senior member on another thread about the amoled:
"It caused by pentile matrix used in none plus samoled screens. Each pixel is made of two sub pixels one green and one either blue or red. The green sub pixel is always on the left side so the left side of the screen will always have that green line."
I should of checked before making this thread,sorry...anyways looks like it is a an amoled feautre
Yep I have it also...Noticed while back but doing a simple google search found out it was common thing

so,i took an extensive coffee break today and went to my local official samsung retailer shop, where i bought my phone since i wanted carrier free(Sim-free) device...i checked the displayed s3mini there and it has the same very thin green line on white background(i used the stock browser)...Also the manager was kind enough to open a new s3mini right out of the box,we put the battery, powered on and same story with the thin green line on the left side of the display...(ahh the 4.1.1 ripple effect,i miss it since its gone on the 4.1.2 upgrade
Anyways sometimes i get carried by this peculiar stuff,so from there i went to my carrier(VIP) shop and checked the displayed unit there and of course it has the same ultra thin green line
So,its an amoled feature, nothing to freak out...its very very hard to notice, especially if you are outdoors where there is plenty of daylight
cheers

Solution to the Green Line on the Left Side
On your Galaxy Device:
Go to: Settings >Display >Screen Mode
Under Screen Mode:
Scroll down and you shall see Advanced Options.. In that make Green 0(zero)
This will get rid of that Green line.. The same method will work for any RGB Line that occurs on the side of your Galaxy Device

[Q] Faint grey lines across screen.

Picked up my HTC One today and loving it so far, except I've noticed one thing - faint grey lines running across the screen, most notable against a white background (my attention was drawn to them in 'settings').
Others have reported it with no real conclusions being drawn:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241829
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241819
Any idea what these are, are they the norm and what causes them? Should I attempt to swap it?
Thanks for any help.
How faint? Could be the touch-sensor.

I'm not sure how to describe how faint they are, they're not hugely noticeable and appear evenly spaced.
I think your seeing the backlight lines ..... which you notice lets for e.g when you open chrome browser to an emplty white page. right?
Same lines as keyboard flickering that you see out the corner of your eye? I feel like I'm trying to catch the elusive Bigfoot catching the keyboard flicker, but it never happens when I glaringly stare at the keyboard!

Yeah, I can notice them fairly well on a white page in Chrome. Is it normal, or a defect?
Thanks.
normal for back lit screens .... this is one reason i miss Amoled ..... deep blacks and no back light unevenness.

Right okay, they're not so much a hindrance I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue with my device alone. Thanks for the help .
I do believe this is the backlight lines as mentioned above. I noticed this once while outside on a sunny day while checking for scratches, not visible on regular use though.

I have this too, it shows clearly when I'm in a white page or white color background. I hope that this is normal like someone else mentioned that this is just lcd backlight not just some batch. I hate to go through the hassle of calling them up and return it.
please post here if you have these issue too, so just to verify that this is normal.

Yeah on a white background I have the feint grey-ish lines. I think it's the digitiser.
Huh, interesting! I've never seen that before specifically looking for it but yeah, there they are. Boy are they faint though... Like you have to really look for them and have a PURE white background (for mine at least)
They do indeed correspond perfectly to the digitizer lines I was looking at on my phone earlier today ironically! If you tilt the phone on an angle under bright sun light you'll see the horizontal lines of the digitizer under the glass which match the locations. I can't imagine them being related to the backlight though because you can't see the physical structure behind the LEDs when they're on. Try seeing the back inside of a light bulb when it's on ).
Worry not I'd say.

Basically it's nothing to worry about. It's a small disturbance which is needed for your touch screen. If only they could intergrade this better like AMOLED screens do .
Definitely NOT a deal breaker!

It's definitely a deal breaker for me, I never had this kind of problem with my past phones that I used, including Iphone 4, iphone 5, GS2, GS3 and Galaxy note 1. They all have beautiful perfect screen, no smudge like brownish or grayish line and never have any problem on hardware side whatsoever.
Only with HTC One that I exchanged 3 time and still have the same problem and come with an addition of stuck pixel. Don't get me wrong, I truly love this phone, but this is too much for me, I feel like going backward if I were to use this phone daily and pretend that it's normal. they need to do something with their QA until then I'm done with HTC.
For those who are seeing these grey lines, how are they oriented on your screens? Mine has diagonal lines across the entire screen, which seems really odd to me. They're especially visible on white and light backgrounds. They almost look like fingerprints, excpet that they're under the screen surface...
The thing is, this is my second One (returned the first due to stuck pixels) and I never noticed lines like these on the first one, even though I scoured the screen very closely looking for dead/stuck pixels.

The are horizontal lines. The thing is when you are looking for a dead pixel you will not notice the lines. Look under a bright light you will see the touch sensor under the glass .
I can't see any lines on a white background. Digitiser lines are visible, barely, in bright sunlight at really harsh angles. I'd take this over the burn in and ghosting present on all AMOLED screens including the GS4 , any day of the week.

If you never had screen issues on SGS2 and SGS3, as well as galaxy note 1, then you are extremely lucky, and now you are extremely unlucky to have issues with the ONE. Burn in and ghosting is present on all samsung amoled displays.

Yeah, that's different from the issue I'm having then. The lines I'm seeing on my screen are visible on bright backgrounds and like I said, they're diagonal.

Strange horizontal lines in HTC One screen.

Hey there,
I just noticed that on my 2 day old HTC One (FA35FW9#####, HTC_E11) has strange horizontal line on the screen. Even when it's turned off. It's visible on dark colours (black) when the screen is on. It's annoying. I tried to take a picture of it, but i don't have a lens that will focus on it. It looks like a solar panel of sorts.
Am I the only one that has this weird hardware issue, or is it well known?
regards,
X

Mine definitely has this, I didn't notice it until today outside in the sun. I don't see it at all when the screen is on though.
Hi,
I also see this on my HTC One grid when the display is lit on a black background and there is sun. Is it normal, everyone does it ? Or is it a fault and should it change ?
It's on mine as well...can see it under a very bright light...but not normal conditions...... Think it's the digitizer !???

It is the digitizer by BTW...

Hi,
Thank you for your answers. So what is normal ?
Because I saw two other HTC One grid and it was much less visible than on mine, we only see screen off when the mine can be seen when the screen is turned on if the sun on the screen.
Do you think he should return it under warranty ?

Apparently the screens made by sharp have more visible lines than the ones made by JDI, but there's no way to know which is which without running an app to retrieve the information (or maybe viewing the screen under sunlight ). I can see the lines on mine but since I don't look at the screen when it's off I don't really care about them. You'll never find one where the digitizer is invisible, and buying a One is gambling on getting a good one vs build quality issues, so if that's all that's wrong I'd just hold on to it if I were you.

Also if am right there is same question and discussion about that.

Yeah i just noticed mine today when i was outside in the sun... :/
I just noticed this on my way to work this morning, now I can see it almost all the time whenever the screen is off or has a dark backround, for example I see it with the phone laying flat on my desk directly in front of me, what I would consider a normal viewing angle with the screen off or on with a dark background.
my phone is only 11 days old should I contact my carrier regarding this??, its kind of annoying.

No, it's normal and not annoying. You shouldn't be able to see it if you're looking directly at the phone.

Thanks for the reply, it does bug me a bit like but I guess I could live with it.
It is quite easily noticible from slight angles but not if I am looking at phone straight on. I have a couple of friends with the same phone, I will check theirs to see how visible it is on their handsets.
Want to get even more irritated with it? Pull up a white background, like in the text message app, stare really intensely at it, and you can see the lines very faintly and what appears to be a texture similar to cloth, not a smooth-like-paint texture that would be ideal.
Once you notice it, you'll always see it. Lol. Have a nice day!

Defective screen possibly?

Wanted to see if anyone else's phone did what mine is doing. On a white or Light color I can see a darker line going up the ride side of the display. If your using the stock keyboard it lines up with the return key. There's another line going across the upper part of the display going left to right. Here's the weird part, if it wasn't for this I would definitely just say the display burned in somehow. The shadow lines are only visible outside in the sunlight. When I got the phone I did a screen test app and all looked great, but I did the test inside so I don't know if it was always like this in sunlight and I didn't notice or it somehow broke itself since then. I checked all my apps to see if they lined up with the lines and I can't find any that do so I really don't think it's burned in. I should mention I'm using auto brigjtness.
TL;DR : take your phone outside, on auto brightness looking at a white or Light screen and let me know if you can see shadow lines on the right and top of the display so I know if I have to return mine or not, thanks.

Yes. Its mostly people talking about the pink blotches, but there are some that have the gradient lines that are more visible with a black/white screen. Basically, take your phone back and exchange it and pray you get a better display (and not a worse one).

Light bleed

Does anyone get any inconsistent light bleed at the bottom of the screen, I know light bleed is normal in current screen technology, i'm just curious, top and left/right side looks fine on my unit, it's just the bottom, I will not return my unit as it isn't realy consider a defect.

Come to think of it, you can only see it if you are on the lock screen using the white, rose or white background, I did notice this as well on the other units before I chosen this one as my final one.
I have a slight light bleed on the bottom right hand corner. i only notice it if i really look for it,. it only shows on brighter colors. Only thing im afraid of is it getting worse.. my xperia z3 compact had the same issue, but way worse. it was yellowish, so i think it was the glue melting or something. whats crazy about the z3 compact having the issue is; i bought the phone with a cracked display and sent it to Sony to fix/replace everything that was broken and i received it like that. i havent owned one IPS display device without having light bleed.
PS. i have the xperia x, non performance.

im talking about the very bottom right part of the bezel. think of it as if you had a white tool bar at the very bottom, you would notice it on the right edge of the screen, on the bottom portion. it goes up about half an inch. I'm looking and don't see it. My only issue which doesn't affect functionality and that I ignore is that my front camera isn't quite centered in the opening. It's slightly shifted to the right. It's weird because when I check the phone I don't see any gaps even with a flashlight. But no big deal.

All I have is a row of very faint light dark light dark light....... along the bottom from one end to the other, I think its just the row of LED along the bottom, I have check many units from friends and display model, they all have this.
But since it's very faint and only shows with white or beige background, it isn't important and I don't think its a defect.

If you open diagnostics, screen test and look at the full white page.. Do you notice light in the bottom of each corner? (not the top ones, but bottom). I just got my replacement because it was bothering me on my last unit.. this one has the EXACT issue, in the exact spots (more noticable on the right side). a pure black screen looks perfect though? i just think that is so odd.
also, i do notice the black strip you're talking about, i think it has to do with those leds being visable

This issue isn't bothing me, but there is a problem I have noticed, not sure if it was their during my purchase or it suddenly just popped out, but in a white screen I do have a patch about 3mm-4mm which is white that shows up, it's much whiter than the actual screen if you have white and also shows up in a biege background, I think it's what people are calling a light bleed I guess, it's on the bottom left corner about 10mm from the left and 15mm from the bottom.
I took it to a local xperia service center yesterday, and they say it could be two reasons behind it, either something is pressing on the back of the screen or a defective LCD panel, either way they say my warranty covers it, it's a shame as It was sort of a perfect screen free from any pixel problems that I find with many xperia phones.
I will have them to service it after my holiday in early October.

Excuse my edited picture above, here what im experiencing. looks way worse at night. more of an OCD thing, but it does bother me that i paid full price and whatnot. the light bleed actually goes across the whole bottom, not just the edges. just harder to see in this lightning (im at work)

Does anyone get any inconsistent light bleed at the bottom of the screen, I know light bleed is normal in current screen technology, i'm just curious, top and left/right side looks fine on my unit, it's just the bottom, I will not return my unit as it isn't realy consider a defect.
