Hello. Currently I'm running N2A on 16gb nook hd+. I have several problems, which I'd like to be fixed, but don't know, if CM or whatever other upgrades will fix them. Here they are:
1. SD card or internal memory not accessible when connected to PC via USB.
2. Wifi sensitivity/AP scan speed issue. Say Nook is lying on my table, and I'm in mode for AP searching, there are 14 APs around, detectable with my laptop, phone, etc. Nook sees either 3 or 11 in cycle, i.e. for 2-3 seconds there are 3 AP shown, on next 2-3 second - 11 AP are shown.
3. "Unfortunately, another clock widget has stopped" error message repeated many times, when all APs are lost around (say sitting in subway train and going from surface to underground).
4. Browser often lags when visiting amazon, ebay and many other sites "Browser does not responding, do you want to wait or close" (Yes I know these websites have mobile versions, I want to use desktop versions on my tablet). Sometimes, browser crashes without any notification, clearing all form data, etc.
5. Frequent restarts in sleep mode. I lock tablet with side button, and shortly discover that it have rebooted into native nook hd+ shell.
6. I want to have SD card slot free, so I can plug in card from my camera and view/manage photos there.
Thanks in advance.
Hmm
I don't want to bash you but you actually spent $30+ on an sd card loaded with an open source rom on it? And now you have issues that aren't addressed by the creators of N2A? Maybe I just find it funny that a company can profit from a half-brained idea and claim that it works.
Have you tried the help section on N2A's actual site? Why not look at the forums in there as well?

Anyone else's nook have really slow/sporadic wifi? Mine seems to burst, then come to a crawl and sometimes not do anything at all. The dropbox app is basically useless as it fails to download 99% of the time. The browsers are all slow too. I have wireless N and a 16Mbit connection at home so it's not my internet. My Evo downloads and runs 100x faster than my nook, on 3G.
I'm not having any issues.
None of those issues here on home wifi or tether to Evo. Dropbox is one of my newest fav programs and hasnt stopped an in progress DL once..
I am not seeing any sort of weird "slowness", but I will say that Opera Mobile is, **by far**, the best browser for this device in terms of performance.
yeah it does the same for me. reboot it. it works well on that for while, and sometimes turning wifi off, then back on will help.

Yes this happens to me, more often I would like and there are times when it just seems to stop but the wifi is at full bars (what ever they are called). I have noticed that when I check the wifi in the Nook settings the wifi will say "connected-testing", this means it is not connecting, it "sees" the signal but no data is being transfered, turning it on and off usually does the trick. When it says "connected to the internet", data is being transfered.
I too have ridiculously slow network connections. It is almost useless in some apps. But browser seems to be okay.
Can you guys that are having this issue post your Wifi settings and Router models perhaps there is a commonality on this,
Personally I have had no trouble out of mine, Using Wireless N, WPA2, off a Netgear WNDR 3400
I have been experiencing the slow wifi also. Downloading apps from Market is like 1KB/sec.
Running Nookie 0.6.7 from SD card (class 4). Using WPA2 AES.
I'm having slow wifi problems on a new Class 10 (supposedly) froyo install as well.
Not just wifi, too. It seems to go off to lala-land for a few seconds when I try to do much of anything. Scrolling and things like that still respond, but the apps themselves freeze.
Ok, so that is Two people using Froyo having the wifi problem? what rom are you other guys using?
I have not had this problem and I'm Running Rooted 1.1
Perhaps this is a issue with the Froyo build?
My nook was rooted on 1.0 and I'm running stock 2.1 android and I'm having the same problems

My nook's connection is unbearably slow on my home connection, which is wireless b/g with WPA PSK. If connect anywhere else (except for a Border yesterday) it does not have this problem.
Also have the "connection testing" problem. I am returning mine to Best Buy - will advise.
ROM 1.0.1 problem not as bad
ROM 1.1.0 problem unacceptable...
Both rooted...
Yes, it's definitely only a froyo issue with me. My rooted 1.1 stock rom is zip-zip-zippy.
I've tried froyo installs four times (both the std and mod versions) on a Class 4 and a Class 10 card. All had wifi issues and general sluggishness. And yet I see people saying froyo is quick. Hmmm....

This is a hardware problem. I had the identical symptom - tried all sorts of apps (softlocker, etc...)
Just returned by exchanging my NC at Best Buy and the problems are gone. I am at 1.1 with Monster Pack 0.7.
The offending NC serial no is 2010 110 0650xxxx
The good NC serial no is 2010 110 1509xxxx
So make sure the SN of the replacement unit is higher!
I've had this problem since the day I bought my nook.
A couple of things I've found...
1) The problem is with how the nook handles wifi. My college wifi is a piece of crap, and everything has problems connecting. Nook won't/can't establish a reliable connection.
2) I have no problems with wifi using DeeperBlue's HoneyComb. Hell, HC can get a better signal than my notebook. If I can get that to install market, I'll just run that off the sdcard. Battery life seems better there too.
3) If you get internet at B&N, then it's not a hardware problem. Every Nook of any kind has the same problems that i'm having.(on this network)
a couple of solutions I found.
1) Connectify. Nook doesn't really like it, but it works better than no intertubes.
2) Reboot the wifi. It works sometimes.
3) pray?
I've been having odd wifi problems with my NC, and I'm at my end with this.
My NC is stock, unrooted v.1.1. I can boot from one of two Nookie Froyo SD cards (one with an OC kernel, another vanilla).
Quite simply, the Android side will no longer connect to the internet, Marketplace, etc. The B&N stock side does just fine.
The Android side worked briefly -- out-of-the-box, I connected it to an open network and got on the Marketplace, whereupon it locked up on me. I put it away, and didn't pick it up until yesterday, at which time I found that no matter which SD card I used, there's nothing doing on wireless networking. While Android finds and connects to open or secured networks, I can't bring up a webpage, go to email, check the Market, you name it.
I don't think this is a hardware issue given that the Stock side can get online (albeit slowly at times). What the eff is going on with my Android side? Should I start over and build up *yet another* card? What can I do to diagnose and solve this?
I'm willing to return this NC, but I don't see the point if I'm somehow doing something to "break" the wireless connectivity in installing apps and pushing files and customizing the install (and whatever else) in creating my Nookie Froyo cards.
Any tips or suggested resources are greatly appreciated!
I had the same problem with Stock, Rooted with Autonooter, and Froyo boot from sd card. I changed the settings on my router to WEP security from AES and now have no problems with it.

On the unit that I exchanged, I had problems with both secured (WPA2) and unsecured (Wifi N). The exchange seemed to fix it...
As the subject stated, I have enabled the "Use Wireless Networks" under Location & Security, however, Google Maps and any location-enabled apps still complaint that I need to "...enable My Location...".
Is this not working in the current version of HC or do I need to do something else?
Note that this is for location based on WIFI, not GPS since Nook Color doesn't have a GPS chipset.
Try enabling GPS if you haven't. I'm not having any trouble with both location systems turned on.
I did, and same error:
"Please enable My Location source in system settings"
FYI, I am using the following:
- Barnes and Nobles Nook Color
- Kingston 8GB Class 4 card
- Honeycomb 3.0 (Deeper Blue's Preview v04) installed on SD card (NOT internal ROM)
The Google Map application was installed separate than the Honeycomb image building. I.e. push via adb.
I'm getting the same message with both WiFi and GPS turned on.
I'm running HCv4 off a SanDisk SD with the Maps 5.0 apk (3d buildings, rotation and two-finger swipe work great)
Anyone else? Or location feature in HoneyComb for Nook Color is a known bug?
I haven't tried it on HC yet, but I did find that on CM7 the google maps location and navi only works with the settings a certain way. It may be something to do with my setup and the way other apps/settings are somehow affecting my location, but I was at work yesterday and it was showing my location as being in my apartment; which I obviously wasn't. It had done this previosly too and I never could figure it out, but I had been anywhere recently where I had a reason to use navi so I didn't mess with it a whole lot.
Yesterday I was on my lunch break and I decided I wanted to solve this issue, it was showing me as being at home when I wasn't, again. I tried clearing the app cache, data, I tried force stopping, resetting the device, and even powering off for a few minutes on both my phone and my nook. Since I couldn't figure out which device was causing the confusion about my location I tried all the above on both, but still nothing. Maps opened up and placed me at home again each time. So finally I opened maps on my Incredible and the location was right, it showed exactly where I was. Then I knew it was something to do with the nook. I went into the location settings where I had the wireless network location AND the gps satellite options checked. I unchecked the wireless network location option and force closed maps to open it again fresh. Worked right away and FINALLY didn't show the blue dot over my apartment. I used the navi on the way to work this morning just to test it and the location and everything else was perfect.
I know you are on HC and I'm not, but there are so many factors that have to be done just right it setting this up that maybe it's still just a tiny difference in your settings. Hope I helped, if even just a little bit. It seems to be that the wireless network for location was throwing mine off and giving a false reading.
Confusion
I have been trying for several day's to get the v4 to run and all I get is the locked partition error.
I have formatted the card (Patriot 16gb Class 10) several times.
It will run other roms including CM7 with out problems.
What is so different with the honeycomb one?
It doesn't work reliably but it does work on the 2nd of the eMMC Honeycomb.
Note that this is for location based on WIFI, not GPS since Nook Color doesn't have a GPS chipset.

BTW, you can make it work with GPS Tethering, see this:
I have that card as well. I have installed several rom's using my Win7 x64 machine. ALL worked except the Honey. I tried writing the card on my eePC Net book. running WinXP. Success and it wrote @ 14.6 MB/s. I only get 4.3 MB/s on the win7 machine.
I believe that this ROM is VERY VERY sensitive to writing speed. I will test more and see what happens. BUT, If you have access to a WINXP machine. Try it and see what you get.
The following has happened with both autonootered 1.1 and stock 1.2. I am running CM7.0.2 from an sd card also. Using a dual boot (manual button(s)) press.
For the second time, I have gone to a local B&N, gotten my Cafe Vanilla Frappicino, found a comfortable seat, booted up into the BN software, chose "Read In Store" for "Discovery of Witches" watched the book d/l and then immediately get the message that I have exceeded the time allotment for that day and to try again the next day!
This happened (with this title) under AN3.0/BN1.1 and again today with stock 1.2. My e-mail in/out worked fine when store connected as did all othere store related items. This tells me the connection was not the issue.
I found the knowledgeable rep in the store who I had discussed things with before and we tried to get it ("Discovery...") to re-load (unsuccessfully), rebooted several times and even rebootted with the sd card removed. That last time the title did reload but still came up with the "expired time" message. We picked another title at random and that had no problems!
The rep called the Corporate IT, explained the issue, gave them my unit's s/n and verified that there were no server related issues at that time.
I verified with him that there were no B&N "roadblocks" in place that prevent you from on-going reading of the same title which he stated there was not based on his own usage/experience. Example, The second time I opened that title in the store, it took me directly to where I had previously left off!
One of the reasons I haven't redone my internal memory to CM7+ is that I want to retain the in-store reading capability but this is really becoming a major annoyance.
I have two other local BN's where I will try and access this specific title early this week to see if history continues to repeat itself.
Any ideas/thoughts as to what the root cause is and any possible solutions???
I recommend just doing a Factory Reset.
Follow Steps 1-Method 1 and 2-Method 1
http://nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM
You have to do both steps!
I had to do this in order to install 1.2 even though I've never Rooted my Nook(Running CM7 from SD)

So I have read through the thread on creating a CM10 SD card. I have also read a couple of threads on root etc.
I am interested in doing some research and demo of an HD+ and want to be able to go into a B&N or a BB and boot to a micro card I bring with me to test a few apps.
Is it possible to do something like that, or do I have to "build" the card on a device? If someone has a working image of a card I could download that would be perfect.
My overall intention is to then use my wifi hotspot, install dolphin and dice and do some web surfing tests as well as stream video tests.
Want to see how the unit stacks up to my Acer a500. I have played with a demo unit in BB and was able to surf via the built in browser and youtube but I want apples to apples comparison since that is what I am familiar with.
I use my acer 2-4 hours a day for video, surfing, etc and its getting a little old and slow these days.

You do have to boot the SD in a device one time to get the card to partition itself. Then adding the CM10 and gapps can be done at home with a Mac or Linux. Then you can take it back to the store to boot again to finish installing. Then you can run it there.

Based on that, then if someone could provide an image of a working micro card, I could use that, correct?
Anyone want to PM me with a download? I just need this to run some quick like for like comparisons before I pull the trigger!!!
If its easier, I am even willing to send a 4 or 8gig micro and a return label to someone and have them make a copy and send it back to me.
Thanks
Hey is the Square Up credit card reader supported by nook hd+?
I just got one that reports 'detected' by the nook when I insert it in the headphone jack, but then is quickly 'disconnected' and won't read any cards.
I'm running CM10.1 from july.
Thanks.
check to make sure location services are checked.
it (seemingly) worked on the stock nook rom with locations on when i tried it.
i think the reader needs gps location on at all times. nook has no gps so you have to use the 'fake' gps with wifi
officially the reader isnt compatible the nook. there seems to be a whole lot of issues with other android tablets. not even the nexus 7 is officially compatible https://squareup.com/help/en-us/article/3887-features-and-device-compatibility

At first the app would close immediately saying it required gps. When I turned on the location services the app starts just fine, but the card reader gives the enabled -> disabled problem I mentioned in my first post.
The reader requires a headphone jack with microphone compatibility. Maybe that is the issue. I don't know if the Nooks have that.
did you try with the stock rom? i did a swipe but i didnt go through with the complete process. however i did notice the disconnect message. i didn't notice it before b/c it was such small text and light grey, so i'm not sure if it would even work on stock

Did not try it on stock since I just got the card reader a few days ago.
So you were able to swipe a card and it picked up the number?
For me it just shows disconnected at the bottom left corner of the screen and no card swipes are registered.
BTW it's not the card reader since it works perfectly hooked up to my phone.
nope it i dont think it worked for me either, but i didnt go through the entire process. i swiped the card but i noticed 'disconnected' at the bottom. i didnt do anything else after that b/c i didnt have a bank account linked. i've looked online and read some comments about other devices. some mentioned the problem is the audio jack must accept audio out and mic in at the same time or something.
here are some of the things i had read. these are for nexus 7 device, but you can glean some information about the issue
